My husband and I finally gave Char Kitchen a try today for lunch since I had the day off and boy did it not disappoint one bit. To start I got a maraschino cherry spritz and my husband got a lovely smoky old fashioned. For our appetizer we did the seafood stuffed shrooms and these were KILLER. So good. Perfectly light creamy sauce that we soaked up with our bread and even dipped some of my husband's house made chips in (delicious). The seafood was flavorful and rich. We only ate one each as we knew we they'd fill us up before our entrees and we figured they'd make a great leftover in the air fryer for Friday snacks. For my entree I asked the waitress if she preferred the ahi tuna salad or the salmon aglio e olio and she very enthusiastically recommended the salmon. She was so right. It was perfectly flaky, crispy broil and amazing flavor. Really great pasta that was light and didn't make me feel like I needed a nap after a few bites of it. The weird side star of this show was the simple arugula salad though - super light but massively flavorful dressing. That's all that was to the salad but it was divine. I had a ton of leftovers for later as well, great serving sizes. My husband's burger won the show though. He got the lunchbox legend burger which was ground prime rib/chuck/flank patty with pepper jack, bacon, chipotle blackberry jam, and peanut sauce. Messy. Gooey. Delicious. My husband noted it was one of the best burgers he has had in Kitsap and we love our burgers so that says a lot! I loved the add of the peanut sauce especially. They have a weird parking policy; you have to enter your credit card to get a ticket to get validated. However, neither I nor my friend got a ticket. We had a lovely meal, very good and told the waiter that we didn't get a ticket, she gave us a bar code to scan on the way out. The bar code did not work, and the machine asked for the credit card again, ok, but then it declined the card. So frustrating. I showed the bar code again and it let me out. In a couple of days there was a $20 charge for parking! I emailed the contact on the website and received no response, five days later. not a great system especially the lack of response, beware. read more

I had high expectations coming into this restaurant, which can sometimes be a downfall. The decor was a bit odd for my taste -- a little too much red throughout the space. Red is such a subjective color, personally it doesn't create the most relaxing atmosphere. That said, the wall-to-wall windows gave the restaurant a beautiful view and helped brighten the space considerably. We had a reservation and were a little surprised to see outside seating, especially since we weren't given the option when booking or asked if we preferred a window table. One thing I absolutely appreciated was how incredibly clean everything was. The music level was also perfect -- present enough to add ambiance without being overwhelming. The standout of the meal was definitely the chowder. Honestly, I'd describe it more as a hybrid between a bisque and a chowder. When I think chowder, I picture thick potatoes and hearty seafood, but this was much smoother and creamier with just a few bits of seafood and maybe celery throughout. While it wasn't what I expected, it was absolutely delicious. And I will certainly order the next time I am here. My partner ordered the prime rib, which had an amazing smoky flavor and was probably the best entrée at the table. I had the New York steak, which unfortunately I probably wouldn't order again. I asked for medium rare and it came out closer to medium. The hollandaise sauce helped elevate it, but in my opinion a steak should stand on its own without needing the sauce to carry it. Potato confit was bland, probably would be better if used some duck fat and basic salt. I can't really speak for the cocktails, but I did try the Sucker Punch mocktail and it was delicious. Service was friendly overall, though it did feel a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We were asked if we wanted anything boxed up while we were still actively eating, and I had literally just taken a bite when my plate was almost taken away. This has to be one of my absolute favorite places I have been to in a long while. I came here after doing a solo birthday hike. Parking/entrance- let's get this out of the way. It's not easy to navigate but you do it once, you'll be fine from there on out. I would suggest parking in the garage and then once you leave the garage exit left and follow the signs to the lobby entrance. Once you're in the lobby, you'll be able to take the elevator all the way up. The staff- The customer service was fantastic. I sat at the bar area. I came shortly after opening so lots of open seating and options. It was fun chatting with the bar tender and the Bar manager who were not only personable but excellent recommendations. The ambiance is perfect for all occasions. You can do casual, business meeting lunch, date night, upscale cocktail lounge or friend meetup. This place can do it all. The food was delicious. Don't take my word for it, look at my photos. There was not a bad dish that I tried! Salmon cooked to perfection and that dessert.... OMG... so good. The drinks were fantastic. I liked them all and was able to venture into some new tries. I definitely plan to come back when I'm in the Bremerton area. In fact, I may just drive to Bremerton to come back. The entrance is not easy to find. Park in the parking garage (you can get validation) and when you follow the sign to exit on the left, go right. You have to go to the lobby entrance of that hotel/condo and either take the stairs or elevator up. Great lively atmosphere with TVs and music. Open kitchen concept which I like. We were seated right away, and our server was amazing! A great wine/cocktail and nonalcoholic menu. The menu options are very creative. I can't wait to go back and try more entrées. We ordered burgers but upgraded our sides. All of the burgers came with house-made kettle chips, but they have other options you can upgrade too. I feel like that's where the price got a little high. We were not made aware of how much extra it would be but also we did not ask. My pickled fries were absolutely delicious and I would get those again. That was an extra $5. My husband substituted for confit potatoes, which were good but an extra $9 but not worth that price. Lesson learned. Hands down delicious burgers!!! Mine was supposed to be chicken but they were out so I had a beef patty. I don't feel like I missed out anything. I am not someone that loves old fashions but I tasted my friends and immediately ordered one. I loved it! The deserts were great! Hard to find, no signs anywhere, a sandwich board out on the sidewalk would be helpful, you walk into a gym and the person at the counter had to tell us where to go and what floor. Only sign we saw was a hand made little circle on the elevator keypad. Table was wiped down and a film of dirty water dried on it. chairs are uncomfortable. Visit: Thursday May 7th, 2026 My very pregnant cousin wanted to try Char Kitchen, so we decided to meet at 11am. We had never been here before and we were excited to try it. For starters, it was very confusing finding the restaurant. There was a single a-frame on the corner of Washington Ave & Second St but no other signs (that I saw). I walked in circles, up and down stairs to try to find my way to no avail. I was walking around for 30 minutes before giving up and I finally had to call the restaurant for directions! There needs to be additional signage for patrons to find their way. Now, my cousin and her husband were actually there at 11 and ordered their food when they were seated because her husband only had an hour for lunch before needing to return to work. I arrive 30 minutes late since I couldn't find the restaurant, and their food still wasn't served! She asked the waitress for her husbands food to be boxed up to go since it took so long and instead of them boxing it up in the kitchen, she brought the plate and the box for him to do it himself. I thought that was extremely lazy of the waitress. They already waited 20+ minutes for his food and they couldn't even box it up for him. Note: her food did not come out with his. She was still waiting for her meal. I ordered when his plate was dropped off and I got the same thing as my cousin: Smoke n Fire NY Strip ($33.00) 8oz cold smoked and charbroiled steak, five-pepper hollandaise, confit potatoes, and charred broccolini. The waitress puts in my order and returns with my drinks and lets my cousin know they over cooked her medium rare steak so they are remaking it and our steaks will be cooked at the same time so our meal will come out together. So why did I get my plate dropped off 2 minutes later and my cousins food was STILL no where to be found?? I assume they gave me her overcooked steak and then were still cooking hers. I find it unacceptable that she waited nearly 45 minutes to get her food, as a customer but especially as a pregnant woman. The plate presentation was beautiful. They did a great job on plating, and the steak was good! I don't think the five-pepper hollandaise really added anything flavor wise but the pop of color on the plate is needed- I just wish it didn't look like baby food. The confit potatoes were okay, but I think a classic mashed potatoes would've been better. I did not care for the broccolini at all and left it on the plate, which says a lot because I love broccoli & broccolini. So that was disappointing. All in all: location is hard to find for the first time. Staff is nice. Kitchen makes mistakes and is slow. Food presentation is beautiful. Waitress didn't ask for parking validation. The location alone is kind of a hidden gem, really beautiful with gorgeous views, and the inside has this super unique, funky vibe. It's like a mix between a bar, an upscale cocktail lounge, and a really solid date night spot. Service was honestly fantastic, friendly, attentive, and everything came out surprisingly fast. You can tell they're still finding their stride a bit in terms of flow, but it didn't take away from the experience at all. And most importantly... the FOOD. So good. Everything we had was genuinely delicious. As someone who eats gluten free, I really appreciated how many options there were (and they've got great vegan options too), but there's truly something for everyone on the menu. My wife and I had dinner here for the first time yesterday and it was an amazing experience! We arrived with no reservation on a Saturday around 5pm and were quickly greated by a hostess and sat at a table with Layna as our server. She was friendly, attentive, and never left us with an empty drink for long without offering another. Even the manager floated around checking on all the guests. The patio tables were all taken but there were a few more indoor tables left. We started off with an Ember Old fashioned and a Pepperoncini Martini which were well mixed and delicious but our appetizer, the Char Grilled Chorizo Oysters, were absolute ! The flavors were out of this world, the chorizo and oysters complemented each other very well, and the sourdough was so fresh. We chose to split a Gatsby Prawn Wedge salad which was definitely a meal in and of itself. The prawns were large and savory, the dressing was light and flavorful, and the candied walnuts were a fantastic accent. We almost decided against main courses but couldn't resist. My wife chose the prime time burger which IMO was just average. I felt like the flavor was lacking. My wife enjoyed it and especially relished the shaved prime rib with grilled mushroom that topped the burger but she did not enjoy it as much as my Chilean Sea Bass. I selected the Chilean Sea Bass which was, hands down, the best fish I have ever had. The sea bass was moist and flavorful and accented perfectly by the pesto and tomatoes. It was plated beautifully on a bed of mashed potatoes which contrasted gloriously with the honey. Overall, the experience was phenomenal! We will definitely be going back and look forward to trying some of the other menu options because EVERYTHING on the menu sounded delicious. The interior decorator deserves an A+! The menu is varied and has something for everyone! Living a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle in Kitsap is challenge, their menu has vegan choices! I had the beet burger, it was fabulous! It came with home cooked potato chips, liked that option vice French fries. My friend had the baby ribs from the appetizer section, wow, beautifully displayed with corn, he devoured everything on the plate. I had a refreshing spritz cocktail. The server was attentive and delivered superb customer service. The GM was introducing herself by going table to table. I was as there for lunch and there was a steady crowd the entire time. The bar has an awesome vibe with a large window that was open to let in fresh air and offer an amazing view. Service from our waitress and the bar staff was superb! We shared three appetizers and ordered the halibut and fries. We started with the Yuzu Tuna Tartare, Bourbon Cherry Sticky Ribs, and the Char Broiled Seafood Stuffed Shrooms. All three were very tasty. I would gladly pay a little more for the Yuzu Tuna if they would give me more tuna and less corn though. My husband said the ribs were amazing and we both loved the shrooms, although I only ate one because I'm not a huge onion or garlic fan. Th sauce the shrooms were in was fantastic. The one disappointment was the Vodka & Beer Battered Halibut. While the fish was cooked nice, the batter was pale and greasy, and the fries were very greasy. I don't know if the grease wasn't hot enough or what the situation may have been, but it was not what we expected for $39. We know they just opened, so I'm sure some things still need to be tweaked. Beginning with the stellar efforts of our server, "Layna", to the delicious food/considerate chef, "Morgan", through the start-to-finish professionalism by GM Kristina Wade I was most impressed! Frankly, I find Char Kitchen to be on a par with premier restaurant dining I've had in Sydney, Australia, Seoul South Korea, Larissa, Greece, New York, Texas, Los Angeles, Florida, Las Vegas, and Washington, DC. Simply put, I found Char Kitchen to be fantastic, upper-level, upper-crust, with a down-home feel. The ambiance was awesome, the overall atmosphere was most pleasurable, convivial, and ethereal. My family and I were so excited for this restaurant, as there seemed to be unique food options, and good reviews buuut this was not it. We're a huge family, party of 10 and stayed for 3 hours. They were out of a ton of food options.. didn't know until we started eating dispute the fact we called in before hand to reserve our table. We ordered appetizers such as the jalapeños & corn - the jalapeños & rice were cold. The rice was mushy and honestly the worst I've had. The seafood inside was so bland you couldn't even taste it.. I tasted the bbq sauce & that was it. The corn was good, the green sauce they put on it was great. Someone ordered the risotto - also not good, rice again was mushy, I love mushrooms but this was horribly bland and no flavor other than sour almost as if it was bad. For the risotto we asked if we could add chicken, that wasn't an option.. bcuz they don't have grilled chicken at all there, so we ordered salmon,(which seemed like the only option they had) I was told the salmon was good. We also got some kind of burger with ground chicken- the flavors clashed and it ended up upsetting the persons stomach. A couple others got the "regular " (I say regular bcuz it was like prime rib mixed meat patty that was pretty much a regular beef patty) and it was mushy as well- everyone complained about the sogginess of the burger as there were to many condiments and the flavors all clashed. So a burger with one soggy bun. I got the Maui vodka battered fish and chips $39 the fish was lukewarm to cold when received it and the fries were actually cold (can you believe that for that price point?!). I love fish and chips so much but by far the worse I ever had. The cold slaw was room temp and tasted like the tarter sauce. Another issue that just threw us all off, (probably more of a personal preference) no kind of dipping sauces such has honey mustard. They only had a burger/fry sauce. Which was mayo/ketchup mixed. So their other option was ketchup. We got 1 ketchup bottle for the whole table. Lol - What?! Pretty wild considering this place was like a fried food bar spot. I don't drink alcohol and got the mocktails- I ordered two different flavors, the coconut something- nothing coconut about it, it was all lime and very sour and wasn't my vibe as I was looking for the coconut taste. Another was a coffee based, if you like coffee flavored drinks without sweetness.. in my opinion it was great. My partner ordered a citrus drink and it was just off putting and tasted like seltzer water no citrus at all. Someone got an actual margarita and it was watery and didnt get a buzz at all. The glasses were small too for the ordered drinks. Like a quarter of the size of a regular cup of soda. Which they had those cups for sodas but not for water or ordered drinks. My kid got the kids buttered noodles and it was dry so it didn't get eaten and we ordered chicken strips. I thought it was weird the waitress didn't ask why it wasn't eaten and we were ordering another dish.. They gave us water but the glasses were tiny child sized and never received pitchers for our group and they only came in once to refill our water towards the end of our meal. The price point for all of this $500.00. Oh best part- their parking garage they told us over the phone to use.. ya they charged us a fee of $10 per car. So we had a party of 10, three families so $30 for parking for our family to eat at their restaurant. All in all this is place seems more like fried bar food with high class price point. My family and I will never eat here again- which again is so sad because we were all excited by the sound of their menu with different food options you can't get in this county. Stopped by Char Kitchen today and I must say it was a 10 out of 10 on all levels! Food was beyond great, atmosphere was great, staff was exceptional! Cocktails were also superb!!Thank you Rachael for your great service...you checked on us multiple times and we didn't have to wait long on anything! Also, a thank you to Josh (manager) for coming around and checking on all the tables and spending the time to ask people about their experience...quality service all around! Don't forget...they validate parking! Rick had two appetizers and they are very shareable (big portions), and I had a steak entree. I forget the exact name of the dishes but I have included the pics. Fantastic Time! We held my adult daughter's birthday dinner here on Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. We had a large group of 13. We had made reservations ahead and were seated promptly once we arrived in a separate room off the main dining area. The restaurant was quite busy during our visit, but we could not tell. The service was excellent, our food came quick (surprising fast for a group of our size) & it was all delicious. We loved the corn ribs, chicken wings & gumbo appetizers. 3 of us had the salmon, 5 had either the prime rib or filet. The confit potatoes were fabulous too. We will be back. Lovely ambiance, cheerful staff! A few things could be improved - we were a party of 6 and were on the "deck" - in the extremely hot sun with no shade whatsoever. A warning might be included with those reservations "wear a hat, be prepared with sunscreen" kinda thing. The service was extremely! slow. Cheerful, accomodating but forgetful and slow. The one cocktail, vs beer, tasted like water and had to be re-made which everyone agreed was a major improvement. The risotto was simply not good, and the char-black? salads were soggy with overdressing. The burgers were great, the pickle fries amazing! This was our second visit, and our pick for Father's Day, and hoping the glitches are improved upon.
