Be VERY weary of these guys. They really try to take advantage of you if they think you are someone who wouldn't understand cars. I made the mistake of taking my Toyota here for a loose splash shield (at most a 300 job and that is being generous). Rather than simply fix the shield, they took apart my bumper and headlights without my permission- they later claim this was necessary to "figure out what was wrong"- such that the car was no longer drivable (and thus stuck at the shop) and then proceeded to quote me over 3000 a few days later just to "put the car back together" since they said they couldn't put the car back together properly without replacing all these parts that were apparently now broken including the bumper and headlights (even though I had photo evidence that the bumper and headlights were completely fine before taking it in to them, photos which they initially were not aware of). Every time I tried to ask for photos so they could point out what exactly was broken or a more detailed breakdown of the cost, the owner Joe would reply something vague like "its not something you can see from photos anyways" or "you wouldn't understand the cost breakdown" and just start rattling off a bunch of jargon over the phone like I wouldn't understand any of it anyway. Very frustrating. After all this frustration for what should've been a simple fix, I told them I just wanted my car back and to please not to do anything in terms of repairs as I wanted to take my car elsewhere. They said that it would cost me $600 if I wanted to get my car back due to the time they spent to take apart the car and put it back together...keep in mind this is without replacing any parts or doing anything whatsoever useful other than remove the splash shield (not even to put a new one on)! So $600 for them to do absolutely nothing and return my car in a worse state than when I brought it in. Somewhere early in our interactions, Joe also implicitly suggested I commit insurance fraud and tell the insurance company I ran over a curb to see if they would cover the cost of full repairs. I told them I didn't even have any collision coverage when this happened so they were out of luck there. Overall VERY dishonest and icky interactions with the owner who was obviously hoping to make a quick buck by taking advantage of someone who he thought didn't know any better rather than trying to establish a loyal customer base. In the end, he (Joe) along with Mike the other manager did agree to lower the cost of putting my bumper back on, but ONLY if I paid it completely in cash. He was adamant about this and would not accept any other form of payment even though they clearly had a card reader in the shop. He got angry and defensive when confronted about this being shady. In the end I paid the 450 cash just to get the car back in my possession but it's honestly in much worse shape than when I took it in. The only useful thing they did was rip off the splash shield completely so it was no longer hanging close to the ground. It is now in my trunk and I still have to take my car somewhere else to have it replaced. There was yellow markup paint left all over the side of my vehicle when they returned it, there were three new deep scratches on the bumper that were not there when I took it in (looks like somebody keyed it; unclear if careless or intentional), the headlight was cracked, and the bumper was now completely misaligned after they decided to take it apart without my permission. I see why they insisted on cash only now as they probably did not want to risk a legal/card dispute from their shoddy work. Hope pocketing the 450 was worth it; very short sighted IMO at the cost of their reputation. TLDR: learned my mistake; do not bring your car to them. I am taking the 450 loss and all the damages they caused because 1. not worth the mental energy to deal further with these guys and 2. I do not want to risk more damage/bamboozling in their hands. I will be bringing my car to another shop to hopefully undo some of the damage they did. please be more careful and learn from my mistake. I was involved in a collision which was entirely the other driver's fault. (I was waiting to make a legal left turn when I was rear-ended.) As I was being loaded into the ambulance, the police officer making the report directed my car be brought to Chariot Collision in East Setauket. I have no idea why, as Chariot is nearly 20 miles from my house / scene of the accident, and there are countless repair shops closer to me. I did not know where my car was until I came home from the hospital and read the paperwork. It took Chariot a month to complete the work and, once done, I discovered that Chariot was not included in the list of accepted repair shops covered by my auto insurance. On top of that, I had to bring my car back to Chariot several times for smaller repairs that they didn't fix that should have been part of the initial repair, like the gas cap that wouldn't open when you pressed the button. They were aloof about the repair and told me they had fixed it, yet I still had to bring the car back again. They told me they fixed it again. It did work once, then I had to use a screwdriver to pry it open until I had my primary mechanic fix it on my own dime. I also asked if they had completed my inspection, per the insurance company's request, and they said, rudely, "if the sticker's changed, then we did the inspection." The first time it rained after I got my car back, my car had zero traction and wobbled all over the road. It was a terrifying experience. I refused to bring it back to Chariot, since they couldn't even fix my gas cap properly, so I brought it to Smithtown Tire. The assistant manager there told me he had never seen such a warped rear axle in his 20 years in business. Again, this was after Chariot had my car for a month. For a rear-end collision. Involving the axle. And I still had such a badly warped rear axle that it could have killed me. I had to pay $2,000 out of pocket to fix the axle that should have been both fixed and covered by my insurance as part of the accident. The last thing I needed after getting into an accident that was not my fault, and only two days after I had bought the car, was the season-long headache I got from Chariot Collision. Our car was damaged after a run in with a deer and used a Geico recommended auto body shop. Long story short the job was done poorly. Geico then agreed to have the car redone and gave us Chariots contact info. From the very beginning we knew this time it would be done correctly as they pointed out all of the mistakes the previous shop had made. We received the car back and it is flawless. You can tell they took their time to make sure everything was perfect. Absolutely no bubbles in the paint and everything lines up as it should. You would never tell that the car had been worked on. This is by far the best auto body on Long Island. Mike the owner is as honest and fair as they get and the quality is top notch. I have been using auto body shops throughout my 57 years of life from Massapequa to Deer Park. From Long Beach to Lindenhurst. My insurance company, Geico, recommended them and wow, what a find. I was recommended this place by a friend. What a mistake. I was Rearended and they seemingly did an ok job. But a year later I had to take it back because the paint started peeling. They fixed it and I thought it was just one little mistake. We all can make some mistakes now and then. So I had them do an undercoating on the same car at the same time. It's an older car I adore. I have no way of checking the quality on that work since I can't get under the car. Now I am in doubt if it is great work. My other car needed new paint on the hood and the bumpers. He gave me a price and I accepted it. When I got there to pick it up he had added $300 to the price, when I asked why, he said he had to paint the fenders as well. He should have cleared it with me. Then when inspecting the job it was sloppy and bumps all over. Prep work was bad and it showed through the pain. He claimed it was a great job. I strongly disagree. I paid 100% for a 70% job. Then after a few weeks, the paint started peeling on the bumper, I think it's because of bad prep work. He had my car for 2 weeks an 3 days when he said he would have it ready in a week. When I picked it up, it was still many bumps on the paint, overspray on the edges on top of the hood and where they "fixed" the peeling paint in the bumper. He, Mike said that's all I am getting. I was stunned with that attitude especially since he was initially very proud to say that the job is guaranteed for as long as I own the car. He claimed I was a difficult picky customer. Well, I was projected a great paint job, and got a half good one. I am very disappointed and if you have standards to quality, do not use this place. If you really do care about your car - dont take it there. I had there two works done and one cosmetic and after i got my car back i had to come back 15 more times (all together) and still work wasnt as it should be. I blame owned who simply will tell you anything just to save himself time and do job half way. There is no standards there. And if you visit shop while your car is fixed you'll realize that for example broken parts will be glued instead replaced (which you or your insurance paid for). Theres no pride in craftsmanship in this place. And dont let fancy cars from web site or brochure fool you. Everything there is just half way done right. read more

I have been with GEICO for over 43 years and two weeks ago while returning home in the evening, a deer ran directly in front of my 2011 Mercury Marquis car. Luckily I was going slow but still hit the dear which fell to the ground and then got up and ran away. My car had damage to the entire front including the grill, header, lights, bumper and horn....GEICO recommended I take my car to Chariot Collision. I have to say that from the time I brought the car in for an estimate, the GEICO agent Robert was friendly, knowledgeable, and empathetic....the receptionist at Chariot Colision, the workers and especially the owner Mike were also very friendly, concerned, knowledgeable, and empathetic to my needs.....they explained what needed to be done, approximately how long it would take to fix the car, and kept in touch regarding updates on the repair. When the car was ready for pick-up, because I was in a wheelchair, the owner himself brought the car back to me as a convenience and courtesy.....something beyond what I expected......when I got the car back it looked like it just came out of the showroom and I was very pleased with the repair and professionalism of all involved. I, without question, would recommend anyone who needs a car repair to go to Chariot Collision and I am sure that they will be very satisfied with the outstanding repair work, people who work there, and especially the personal attention given by the owner.... read more
