My young bride and I had tickets to see the Knoxville Chaber Orchestra on 3/3/19 (great show, by the way). We parked in the Promenade garage behind Mast General and were making our way up Union Avenue through nasty weather, when a bus stopped on Union, the door opened, and the driver asked if we were heading to the Bijou Theatre. We replied in the positive and he offered to take us there. Apparently the Bijou contracts with Chariots Of Hire to take people to and from the theatre when they are holding performances. Kevin was polite and positive and dropped us off in front of the Bijou. After the show we waited out front for about ten minutes and he took us back to the garage. We hired a sprinter van to take us to a nearby resort with my elderly parents and our 5 children ages 1-10. Timing was key due to their various nap schedules as well as the fact that we were meant to eat lunch after a long travel morning. The drivers were an hour and ten minutes late and there was zero communication and lots of confusion as to where there were and when they were due to arrive. They ended up coming and telling us that "another family hopped in the car and took our ride haha". We had all the confirmations and so did they. The biggest insult was that driver Stan, mocked us and laughed when we said that it was huge inconvenience and unacceptable. Our children were crying and hungry. David was kind and tried to apologize but nothing could be done to remedy the chaotic situation. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but zero communication as well as very unprofessional behavior from Stan earns this outfit 1 star. read more

We use Chariots of Hire on July 2, 2021 for a bride and groom get away from the wedding venue. The driver came 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. He got out of the car to check for any last minutes changes or instructions. Everything went fine. I made the arrangement with Mike. he was very nice also. read more

They took the time and trouble to scout the locations and to insure my guests and I were informed, punctual , safe. I will trust them in the future and recommend them highly. They were easy to work with through planning, and made adjustments as we finalized our guest list. The drivers were all on time, knew where they were going, and drove safely - all things very important for your friends and family! I could not have asked for better. This company is a joke! They left a bus load of 15 & 16 year old kids stranded for 12 hours when their bus broke down. They kept telling the students that a technician was on the way and would be there in 20-30 minutes; 6 hours later they finally arrive. Then they tell the kids that a replacement bus is on the way and will be there within an hour.....4 hours later a bus finally shows up. Now they are having the kids drive home in the middle of the night in the snow. Not sure how much they value safety, but I will never allow one of my family members ride in a vehicle from this company again. read more

One of the most unprofessional experiences of my life. The drivers were nice, but this company RIPS you off and charges like no one's business. The management is a joke, unprofessional is an understatement. I was new to Knoxville and they were referred to me, but now I will never book them again. Old cars, no water, broken radio. Then when I demanded a replacement car, they tried to charge me for it and never returned my calls or messages. After threatening legal action, they ended up not making me pay for the replacement car. Expensive and bad service? No thanks. If you're in the area, I would strongly advice booking with any other car service. read more

OK....the driver got to the church on time BUT that was about the only good thing.. The bus was full of friut flies....nasty nasty fruit flies.. It was my sisters wedding so as a bridesmaid we carry alot of stuff with us. Arriving at the reception hall we told the driver we are going to be out after the speeches to grab all of our stuff ( all the girls pruses, jackets, shoes, bags) my sister booked the bus for 3 hours it was 715 when we arrived at the hall. So having the bus till 830 we thought we were fine leaving our stuff on the bus, hell...she paid alot of money for this bus and we still had over an hour to go. After the speeches I went out to get my stuff off the bus and he was GONE so now its about 730/745 as I was walking back in I noticed all the bags, purses, jackets,ect laying on the floor by the front door. NO One has the right to touch my personal items......the driver had stated to one of the girls in the party he had somewhere to be....NO you were paid for this party till 830 and you just took it upon your self to take all the personal belonging and throw them at the front door and leave. You were tipped great and we paid for the service till 830. After finding out about all this bull, my sister (the bride) called to complain and NOTHING got resolved, the manager(Linda)was rude and did not even offer up a SORRY for all the problems we had with the driver. I wish we hadn't of tipped him, maybe then he would of staying for the remaining contract time and not of touched our personal belonging. Would NEVER suggest this company to anyone. I am giving this company one star because they should instruct there driver to not touch anyones personal items, stay for the full contract time and allow the party to look over the bus to make sure they didn't lose, or misplace any items. I called this company to hire a limo for my wedding and the person on the phone was nice and helpful and quoted me $550 for the four hours that I will be using the limo and I paid $200 deposit and the rest the night before the wedding and the limo arrived on time and left on time as planned but the day after I get an email telling me I still owe them $180. I called them to find out what the whole deal was and turned out Glenn (the guy who quoted me the price) made a mistake on his quote and is now charging me an extra $180. I asked if they can at least half the price since it wasn't my fault they made a mistake but they wouldn't back down. This company tries to scrape every penny off its customers I don't recommend this company for anyone. If you want less problems I recommend you go to a company that behaves itself more professionally. read more

I booked Chariots of Hire 5 months in advance for a UT game/30th birthday party for a large group. The customer service person I spoke with was very helpful and understanding regarding the need to be flexible since the game time is not announced until closer to the game. I was told in writing that I could make adjustments to the times once the game time was confirmed. Unfortunately that is the last positive thing I can say about this company. I called to finalize details once the game time had been confirmed and was told that the minimum number of hours I had to book was 8, even though I was previously told it was 5, that they could not pick us up at night at all because they couldn't allow the bus to sit during the day (not sure how they manage bachelor/bachelorette parties) and that they had other people interested in the bus so weren't too concerned with my needs. I asked if the non-refundable deposit would be waived since they had changed their initial statements and they agreed that wouldn't be an issue, but when I called back to get a cancellation confirmation they stated that I would be charged the deposit and if I didn't pay it, they would send the bus even though I no longer needed it and charge me full price. I was amazed that I was able to find a replacement bus the same week of the game from another company. I would recommend using USCoachways if you are looking for good, reliable service in the Knoxville area without the headache. read more
