Dr. Low is the best! I had received orthodontic treatment from him as a teenager and appreciated the thoroughness of my treatment along with the kindness of the staff. I saw how my confidence grew as I continued through treatment and how much larger my smile got. Something I did learn during my treatment is that braces is a two way street -- you get what you put in. When Dr. Low tells you to wear your rubber bands...you better do it ! I recently visited the office again this past summer due to needing a new retainer (oops... my fault I lost it). When we used to live in the Pasadena area, we were treated by Dr. Low and his staff. They are honest, open, and transparent about the treatment process + costs so that we knew what we were getting into ahead of time. One of us received traditional braces and one of us received Invisalign. It's safe to say that the time and money spent was worth it -- people comment about our straight pearly whites all the time! They also provide a retainer after completing your treatment + advise on wearing it since teeth shift naturally. I felt safe every time we went during COVID + post-COVID. You can tell that they clean + wipe constantly to keep everyone safe. Don't believe the folks below who are nay-sayers. Orthodontic work isn't cheap and you have to be disciplined to wear your retainer after treatment to upkeep your own teeth! Also during treatment, you definitely need to take care of your braces and listen to their instructions (like not chewing gum or eating super hard items) or else it's your own fault that a bracket or something comes loose. Definitely worth all the effort for beautiful smiles. After having gone to other doctors for quotes and assessments, we felt like Dr. Low + staff were the most professional, thorough and understanding. If I could put no stars, I would. Dr Low swayed me into getting a bonded retainer for my daughter after many years of treatment..he talked us into getting this by saying it would last 25 years AND we wouldn't have to worry about misplacing the retainer. In the end, it wasn't sturdy at all. We ended up having to pay another $680 for a new one plus time that we will never get back. The whole family made us feel like it was our fault as if he's so perfect! Please. I regret coming here and having to deal with these people. Another thing, the "good" reviews on this page are written by his own daughters! Young doctors with less experience that come from time to time to help run his office. Wow, what a shame. For context, I got my braces off a little over 1 year ago. When me and my parents visited Dr. Low's orthodontist office for braces, we were initially impressed by the friendliness of Dr. Low and Brenda during the consultation and records process. However, my experience soured once my treatment began. Despite the staff being continuously nice and helpful, Dr Low and Brenda's attitude shifted and were overall rude and unpleasant. They consistently emphasized additional fees, creating a constant financial burden. Prepare to shell out an extra $300-600 on top of the already pricey treatment fee. Additionally, when my braces were finally removed, my parents were unexpectedly charged $280 for seemingly unnecessary "photos and xray," merely for him to briefly check my retainer wear and to share my records with my dentist office. Penny pinchers 100%, so we advise to decline the fee (they'll let you but be prepared for attitude from the doctor and Brenda). Something else very important to note is that Dr. Low's daughter, a relatively inexperienced practitioner, handled many of my appointments, leaving me wondering about the quality of care. I rarely saw Dr. Low himself. During my consultation, Dr Low would emphasize the "continuity of care" as justification for his fees and in a way to talk down upon other orthodontist offices. But, his daughter would work on me and he would just be sitting in his office the whole time! I'd always tell my parents that I didn't see Dr Low and they would be so upset, but knew that complaining would resolve nothing (due to it being a family owned practice and Brenda would get very defensive). My parents were paying the high fees for Dr Low's many years of experience, not his daughter who has been a doctor for only 1 year. The overall experience was marred by a push for positive reviews, revealing a sketchy and unethical side to their business practices. Steer clear of this orthodontist office. Dr.Low is very judgmental and unpleasant. The manager, Brenda is someone you don't want to do business with. She tried to charge me an extra 480$ for taking "records" of my daughters finished results. Which in fact they probably only keep these "records" to cover their a** when the aftercare outcome isn't perfect. Understandable, but why the overcharge? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BEWARE !!!! This orthodontist and his entire office should not be in practice. For the ridiculous cost he charges, one would expect an unparalleled level of professionalism and perfectly straight teeth. We got neither and we were not the first to receive such inappropriate treatment. The whole office is beyond rude, especially Dr. Low's office manager and wife, Brenda. My son's teeth are far from good after 2 years of Dr. Low's treatments and paying $6,000. They force you to pay for the entire treatment before they remove the braces, and I had no idea how bad his teeth were until I finally saw them. Again, for $6,000, these better be the best teeth money can buy. This Orthodontist will also make you sign a form releasing him from any liability going forward after he removes the braces. Once you question the doctor or his office staff they seem to retaliate and cut corners on treatments. Again, a pattern I've experienced and also heard from many of his other patients. During one treatment, Dr. Low interrogated my son while he was sitting in the operating chair, about his vaccination status. This was not an appropriate question to ask a minor without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. I could further expand on more serious issues with this doctor but I will just leave it at this --I would strongly encourage anyone to take their children elsewhere. read more

Think twice and walk out the door before putting your child through this torture. After putting my daughter through braces for over 2 years ( since 8 years old) almost 3 years, he took off the braces and then said we have to do this all over again for another 2-3 years. And pull teeth now. What a fraud. He is definitely a career dentist, who believes in life long braces. After speaking with other friends, they told me the same story. That their kids have been in braces for 6 and 7 years. Its a joke. And you pay for it too! Not to mention your poor child. For the record, I took my daughter to a highly recommended ortho in Beverly Hills, he looked at her, her prior work and said, it should have been done one time, the first time. The old fashioned way. She now is his patient and almost complete after having to redo some of the previous work from the first time around. She loves this ortho, and her teeth look great. And by the way, I am also a patient of his for a retainer, as well, as lots of other parents who go to him to get work done, in addition to their kids. I don't care where Dr. Low went to school, USC is great, but he definitely seems to like to drag this process out for his own pocketbook and bs story. I just visited this office with a friend who is in need of some orthodontics work, and we experienced the standard consultation. This office was recommended by her dentist, and it's possible they do good work in the end; I am only reviewing the atmosphere of the office and its personnel for a consultation. When you first walk through the door, you aren't greeted with a "hello, how can we help you". You are instructed very seriously to sign in at a computer, like you're at Verizon. The computer sign-in process isn't very intuitive, and there's no confirmation screen. So our very first experience was being instructed to use a computer, finding it difficult (we're Web developers, so not on us), and being stared at like we were idiots. What were those two women at the desk doing just staring at us? How about some help, or how about you just sign us in yourselves as human beings? Remember those days? Next up: fingerprinting. Yes, I'm sure this has something to do with child safety or some such nonsense, but any dentist who asks for a fingerprint scares me. No thank you. The cold, computer- and screen-centric, inhuman atmosphere persisted throughout the entire consultation session. We weren't told much about "The Doctor" and his practice, but we were instructed very sternly about how much "The Doctor" does not like lateness, and how being tardy will impact our service in the future. At a consultation? Why don't you holster that attitude and save it for the children. Then "The Doctor" himself, an extremely arrogant man, proceeded to give us the hard sell on very expensive perfect teeth, using a big flat screen and cajoling my friend until she felt awful about her mouth, answering every honest question about alternatives with the kind of arrogant response that clearly indicated we did not understand his business. And that's what we got in the end: his business. But he didn't get ours. Thumbs down! read more

I was seeking out orthodontic treatment last July and was referred by my dentist to Dr. Lowe. I made an appointment for the free consultation and was very happy with the friendliness of the staff and how thorough they were in explaining the treatment process and what would need to be done specifically for me. The consultation was absolutely free and as for the former review's misinformation, you pay the $350 for the x-rays, analysis and the mold of your mouth. Admittedly, it is a little pricey but feeling confident and secure about my smile is something that is completely worth it. I'm not about to cheap out on something as important as my face. I'll get my sales at Ross or TJ Maxx, but not on my orthodontics. I'm currently nearing the eighth month of an anticipated 16 month treatment and I have been nothing but pleased with the resulting changes. I had an overbite, and seemingly large two front teeth due to some displaced teeth. My teeth are moving nicely and I am especially happy to see my smile getting better :) Overall, I highly reccomend Dr. Low and his very friendly staff. They are very good about scheduling appointments especially considering I work during the day. I also never wait to be seen and am always greeted by smiling faces. I am horrified by this awful reviews. My husband Went to him for braces and a total remodel of his mouth about 8 years ago. My husband loved him and his teeth looked amazing afterward. When it was time for NY daughter to get braces it was a no brained. Actually, I did check out a couple if places that we more inexpensive like Castle Dentist (I don't think they are around arymore) but my daughter only wanted Dr Low after meeting him at the consultation. I am so happy we went with him. The change in the structure of her teeth is amazing. I love watch her smile in the mirror with happiness. The office staff is always accommodating with our needs rather it's payments or scheduling. We are a family on the go so I appreciate their patience. Also I love the computer system. My daughter walks in, it scans her fingerprint and checks herself in the computer system. Within moments she is being escorted back. The assistance are always supportive and smiling. read more

The negative reviews here are terrible! Completely inaccurate and untrue. I can tell you from first hand experience that Dr. Low has made my time here a great one! From the moment I walked through the door to my last day of having braces, the staff was very friendly and helpful and made sure I was completely satisfied and comfortable every step of the way. I truly felt the sincerity of the staff and Dr. Low. What also really impressed me is how timely they were with appointments. When I make my appointment at 10:30AM they have me at 10:30 on the dot, NOT ONCE did they take me in late. Its impressive, as most places will still make you wait 15 to even 30 minutes before they take you in. Also, the price was affordable! Considering how high end the office was, the quality of the service, and its location, you would expect to pay for a lot more than what they charge. They even have a discount deal if you agree to set up appointments in the morning. I can honestly go on and on of my experience with Dr. Low and his staff but the only way you can understand is by going to his office and speaking with him. The negative reviews here are completely false and misinformed. Do not pass up on this amazing place because of a few false reviews. I assure you will not be disappointed. In the past month we visited 4 orthodontists in the La Canada/La Crescenta area for cost estimates. Three were in the same ballpark: treatment duration 18 - 24 months, cost around $4500. C. Lows proposal: 28-32 months, cost $7250 plus a heavy dose of arrogance. This is price gouging and since it is done by a "Dr.", it is unethical behavior. While the other orthodontists said "lets wait till all baby teeth are out", he said "lets start immediately". And when you add the fact that for a free consultation he forces you to come in during school hours...this place was by far the worst and the Dr. is a shark and swindler. read more

I don't write Yelp reviews very often but in the case of Dr. Low and his staff I felt compelled to do so. My son has just had his braces removed after a very complex case which not only included moving teeth but also in making space for a tooth which never formed but also one which was not adequately naturally size. Dr. Low was very thorough and explained the entire process in simple terms so everything was well understood in advance including coordination with his referrals to create the new teeth. The staff is unbelievably efficient, courteous and professional in all aspects from scheduling to billing. Prior to braces he was very self conscience and rarely smiled in photos, now he is front and center smiling broadly in every photo, and has become more confident and outgoing. I considered myself fortunate not to have needed braces when I was a student. At age 61, however, my regular dentist strongly recommended that I see an orthodontist because my lower front teeth were kind of sliding around toward the middle and piling up on one another, which was in turn causing my upper front teeth to be pushed out. My dentist cautioned that I could look forward to gum disease and other problems if the condition was left untreated. Accordingly, he referred me to Dr. Low. I went in knowing nothing about orthodontics. Dr. Low explained everything in detail. After taking a series of photographs, x-rays, and bite impressions, Dr. Low decided that I should have one of the crowded-together teeth surgically removed, after which he would use orthodontic techniques to align the remaining teeth in a neat semicircle that would close the gap where the tooth was removed. In the fall of 2013 Dr. Low attached the brackets to my teeth -- except the one that was to be pulled -- and sent me to an oral surgeon for the tooth removal. The removal went smoothly and painlessly. Several weeks later I returned to Dr. Low's office, where the first set of arch wires was attached to the upper and lower brackets. This began what was predicted to be an 18-month process of repositioning the teeth. All went smoothly throughout the next two years. Dr. Low assures me that he has other adult patients, although I never saw any. I remarked to him once that he and I were the only guys in the place whose voices had changed! I went in for visits at one-month intervals, where the doo-dads that hold the arch wire in place were replaced, stronger arch wires were periodically installed, and other tensioning devices were added. Occasionally my teeth would be a little sore after a visit where more tension was added, but the soreness was brief and easily remedied with ibuprofen. I also found it useful to make use of the little sticks of pliable wax that his office supplied to cover over the brackets and wires on the infrequent occasions when they decided to dig into the inside of my mouth. In mid-2015 the braces were removed. I now have a bonded retainer on the lower teeth (a permanently installed wire glued to the back of these teeth, where it is not visible) and a removable retainer for the upper teeth. I have been told that I will wear the upper retainer at all times for a year initially, and then move to night-time only wear. It hasn't been too bad, although I now know why the kids with retainers sounded like they did when I was in junior high school! Dr. Low's office is very well-organized and he is very prompt about taking patients back right on schedule. You can tell that considerable thought has been devoted to refining every aspect of how the practice is run. I particularly appreciated the options for electronic reminders of appointments, which can be delivered by text messages (SMS) or e-mails. The front desk personnel are friendly and knowledgeable, and the technicians in back are the same. And Dr. Low is fastidious about making sure everything in the mouth is positioned just right and moving in the right direction. The result of his work was excellent. My wife remarked that this is the first time she has ever known me to have straight teeth. I guess I didn't realize how weird my teeth looked before. The change is very obvious in the "before and after" photos that Dr. Low provided to me. All in all I would say I had a very satisfactory experience with good results, and would certainly recommend Dr. Low to others. read more

SUMMARY: I took my daughter here because my neighbor said he doesn't hurt. So, after our consultation, we chose him. I had no idea that it would be expensive, but hey, what is money if he is good and doesn't hurt? However, this is not the case, it did hurt and my daughter cried each time, once after the first treatment to widen her jar and second when the braces actually went in. I was not happy, but because we were already in the treatment process, you couldn't stop and of course the initial down payment you will lose if you quit and go else where. What made the matter worse, was that my sister said that the price we paid for our daughter's braces $5800. Yet, my sister said for all 3 of her children it didn't even cost her $5000. I told her, well, my mistakes, I didn't research careful enough, but the ONLY reason why I chose him was because my neighbor said that he doesn't hurt. Yet, that was not the case. Aside from all of the above. The end result is that her teeth are beautiful. So, perhaps one should research more careful before committing to a treatment, because once you start the treatment and made your down payment, it would be difficult to back out to see someone else! read more

I was somewhat frighten to return, but because none of the comments were a reflection of my 2 years of treatment visits, I made an appointment. My daughter went to Dr. Low when she was 8. She had a bad under bite and we wanted to get her teeth moving as soon as possible. We had a consult with Dr. Low and he had sold us on a 2 phase system. She would get her first set of braces right away and then another set after she got all her permanent teeth. She had her 1st set of braces for about 1.5 years. At the end of this time, the upper and lower jaw were sitting on top of each other. At times when she chewed her food, the teeth would grind together and she would complain of being in complete pain. I had major concerns over the position of the teeth at the end of this first phase. Dr. Low expressed that this was the best the 1st phase could do. My husband and I were not happy and felt that this could not possibly be OK. If you have ever hit your upper and lower teeth together, it's super painful. Logically speaking, there is no comfortable way to eat if the teeth land on top of each other. Dr. Low eventually decided to manipulate her upper teeth over her lowers by creating a buck teeth like angle to where the jaw was not moved, just the lower part of her upper teeth were ever so slightly pulled our over her lower teeth. We made it very clear that we were unhappy with what he had done. Thankfully, we ended up moving to Washington and found the best orthodontist. We had both our daughter and younger son see him. It became clear that our complaints and concerns were correct. The jaw should have been moved more and he never should have given her a slight "buck tooth" look to get the teeth over her bottom jaw. This new orthodontist was able to fix this issue and in just over 1 year's time and she now has a perfect smile and profile. My son, who started with even a more severe underbite than my daughter originally did, has a great bite and profile in just over 1 year. He still has alot of his baby teeth too (he's 9). I would recommend doing some research and getting different opinions before selecting an orthodontist. Dr's have different abilities and eventually very different results. We regret taking the referral from our (then) pediatric dentist without much thought. read more

I was in need of braces for a very long time and was referred to Dr. Low by my dentist. We set up a consultation and he outlined what the entire process would be like and through the course of around a 30 month experience I got the perfect smile that I wanted. At the time no one wants to experience the first weeks pain or the little irritation that comes with braces but that goes for all people with braces. Dr. Low quickly outlined every month what I was doing right and what needed to be done for the next time I saw him and by the time I got my braces off I was so excited and the staff there was just as enthusiastic as I was. Overall I would recommend this orthodontist for anyone seeking a 5 star smile. read more

Dr. Low has been an absolute blessing to our family. His skill and expertise are unsurpassed, and you simply will not find a more qualified pediatric orthodontist in the La Canada / La Crescenta / Glendale area. He is incredibly professional, and yet we never feel like he is rushing us (the parents) out the door, or just trying to hurry to the next patient, like so many doctors do. If you have questions, he takes the time to answer them. He doesn't try to overwhelm or impress you with esoteric terminology, but neither does he 'talk down' to you. He's just very honest and direct. His staff is very professional, friendly and efficient. Most important of all, he achieved phenomenal results for our older daughter. In just 16 months, he turned a very challenging situation into a flawless smile. Our daughter was apprehensive about braces, but Dr. Low and his caring staff just made it so easy for her and for our family. Next week our younger daughter will be having a consultation, and at some point, she will have braces as well -- and we're just so thankful that it will be under the care of Dr. Low. Five stars are not enough. At the risk of casting a negative shadow over a positive review, I have to comment on the (few) negative reviews you may have seen on this site. You should take the time to read them. One person was not even a patient. Another was just horribly shocked that their young child found braces to be painful (wow, what a surprise!). Dr. Low is not to blame. Another simple minded reviewer complained about the office's use of computers (yes, very scary things). Those reviewers are just clueless. Take a look at the 2-star review that concludes "Aside from all of the above. The end result is that her teeth are beautiful." Unbelievable. If you 'think' like these people, then don't go to Dr. Low. But if you are an intelligent human being who would like to see great results from a world-class orthodontist, Dr. Low is your guy. read more
