I feel so lucky I found this dentist ! Most dental offices have turned corporate. You never know what doctor or hygienist you'll see and you can be pretty sure they will try to rip you off. It was following an experience just like that I quit my last dental office, looked around and found Glendale Dental Arts. There is only one dentist, Dr. Halajian, he is very experienced, highly competent and kind. He most definitely has never tried to rip me off. He looked at the issue that brought me there, the one the last dentist told me would cost over $2000. He told me it was fine (as I suspected), nothing to worry about and he'd keep an eye on it. That was at least 5 years ago, it's still fine! The hygienist, Dr. Singh, is the absolute best, thorough and gentle, and only takes x-rays when they are necessary. The dental assistants have always been good, and most recently, Arely did an especially good job. She did not hang the little vacuum out of the corner of my mouth (I hate that) and only used it as needed. What a difference! Office staff is all great, always sweet and accommodating. I owe a special thanks to Alexa for helping me get a note from my doctor exempting me from having to take antibiotics that were recommended but I knew I did not need. This office feels like a small family practice, I am so grateful to be in their care. read more

For complex dental work, Dr. Halajian ( the owner) is the other expert, my family counts on. Besides doing EXCELLENT work, Dr. Halajian's dental procedures are virtually painless . Imagine getting a mosquito bite. The sensation is about 1/10 at the start, and it only gets better during the course of the dental procedure. I understand we canceled the appointment last minute, and I wish we hadn't had to do that, particularly because my husband still has a painful cavity and we need to find a new dentist. The fact is, I had just learned that your office told my husband our insurance didn't cover cavity fillings on molars, giving him the impression he had no other option. What you omitted was that our insurance covers silver fillings, but you do not offer that service. If he knew, he would have declined and spent the last month finding another dentist that does. If your office doesn't provide common procedures covered under DMOs, you shouldn't accept DMO patients. I wish you and your business well. read more

I'm giving Glendale Dental Arts five stars for their customer service and the quality of work. I've been coming to get my dental work done here ever since I was a toddler and my family has been been coming for over 30 years. Dr Halajian is amazing and before him it was Dr Ghazarian. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Eva is the secretary/front desk lady who is very nice and always has a smile on her face. Whenever there is an urgent issue she manages to find time to get you into the office and get you taken care of. Every time I go in I feel like there isn't a wait. The reason for that might be the way they space out their appointments, which is amazing. WORK AND DENTIST: The quality of work at Glendale Dental Arts is fantastic. I get my cleaning done here and I also get work done because I have chipped my front tooth. The chip is not even noticeable after getting it fixed. I had a cleaning done it went good everyone was nice. But the dentist said he can tell I grind my teeth and have TMJ symptoms so he said before we begin the night guard I have to go to the specialist he referred me to. However I have kaiser and had no choice but to go to the same specialist through my kaiser insurance. Finally I was diagnosed TMJ and the kaiser specialist said to me you need to go see your dentist so they can make a night guard for you which is separate problem to my TMJ. I called the dental office back to ask if I can have a night guard specifically for my teeth grinding. And the front desk lady said to send over my diagnosis exam paper so I did. She calls me back later to tell me that they can't make me a night guard because I didn't go to "THEIR Specialist" and when I was asking her to explain she had a rude tone. All I need is a night guard that may or may not be related to my TMJ and to have this treatment was very unprofessional and disappointing. I suggest don't waste your time or money if you have kaiser insurance. My husband and I had to cancel our future appointments and will not be returning here. read more

Is there a way to give negative stars? Vic is the nastiest, most disrespectful, rude, unprofessional, condescending dentist and person I have ever met. I made an appointment to get a quote on a tooth that's been bothering me. I do have dental insurance and was hoping it would cover part of the cost. When this "dentist" walked into the room, he had an attitude right off the bat. Treated his assistant horribly. Basically told her to shut up while he's speaking. Then said because I had another dentist working on another tooth, he wouldn't touch me and doesn't want to be involved. He literally said "I don't know why you're here". Dr. Halajian, Dr. Singh, hygienists and front office have always been wonderful. As a long time patient with many interactions over the years I have never had a negative experience, and that speaks volumes. I have always had the best care under Dr. Halajian and staff. You know you're in good hands, and it's Dr. H's skill set and knowledge that keeps me coming back. He is professional and personable which makes it quite easy to discuss any dental concerns and you know you're getting the honest recommendations. Unfortunately, I had to have a root canal (cracked my tooth in half and broke a piece off) and you hear so many horror stories. This was definitely not the case and I was surprised how easy the procedure was, but that's because of the great work they do. They are not pushy and I appreciate that the recommendations are the least invasive and I never have to worry about unnecessary dental work, or question if I'm being up-sold. Couldn't ask for a better front office either. They are always friendly and accommodating which is appreciated. Even with the challenges of the pandemic they do their best to provide you with the best service, from scheduling, insurance inquiries and billing. Losing one's teeth can be a very traumatic experience. I came to Dr. Halajian with my Kaiser/Delta membership some years ago. Had not taken care of my teeth outside of brushing and mouth wash for years, always too busy to visit a dentist till I lost a front tooth at 72. Truly did not know what to expect. What I got was solutions. He even had to adjust the first one tooth flipper and did so without debate. This year I lost the rest of my front top teeth and so I had to get a full upper made. My case being challenging Dr. Halajian worked hard to get me a full upper denture so I could continue to work without embarrassment. I am enjoying wearing my new denture, and it is fitting perfectly. As others here have noted, the staff makes it easy to be at Glendale Dental Arts. My nine year old grandson is a Kaiser member as well and I know he is going to need braces soon enough, and I would absolutely take him to Glendale Dental Arts as well. read more

But when I changed my insurance and ending up going to different offices then I notice that how great and non-comparable their job is. You should give them a try and you will be life time patient. My goal in 2017 was to take care of my teeth. I definitely felt toothaches and pains throughout 2016, but due to my pregnancy, I had the perfect excuse to not go. I honestly preferred giving birth, with an epidural, than subjecting myself to the scrapes, drills, and drool that dentistry involves. Just thinking about that chair in a fluorescent room with no personal space for an hour would make me anxious. Unfortunately, the alternative of aging sans teeth, was not something I wanted to experience. Therefore, I wore my big girl pants and made an appointment with Dr. Halajian at Glendale Dental Arts based on reviews and recommendations I had heard/read throughout the past few months. The professionalism, cleanliness, and hospitality(including payment options) I received from the office staff in the first 5 minutes was very impressive. Then I had the honor to meet Dr. Halajian. His honesty was palpable the minute he started explaining the results of my X-rays. He explained every action he took and made sure I wasn't in pain throughout each filling(there were many). His ability of administering an anesthetic shot painlessly was something I had never experienced with any other dentist. He even gave me some nice light goggles to protect my eyes from saliva and fluorescent lighting. I have very sensitive teeth I didn't take care of for many years (I've always been terrified of the dentist!), and Dr. Halajian and Dr. Sing have always been gentle and professional without trying to push me into anything I didn't need. I love Glendale Dental Arts. I started going here when my front chipped tooth lost its filling (free comedy). I saw Dr Ghazarian based on a recommendation. I was a bit defensive due to my financial constraints at that time and being accustomed to every dentist trying to sell me on "fixing the gap" in my two front teeth and bleaching. I made it clear I just needed to fix the chipped tooth. Dr Ghazarian was sooooo awesome. He told me I had great teeth and did not suggest I "fix the gap" since I had a great smile. I told him I loved my gap since I had it all my life. He suggested I stick to bi-annual teeth cleanings and the daily flossing and dental brushing. Everything else is optional outside from basic dental hygiene. Unfortunately he passed away and I think the Glendale community was at a loss. He was not only an excellent dentist but an amazing human. So much so- that he made sure to have another excellent dentist and amazing human at Glendale Dental Arts to take care of well established and loyal clientele. Dr Halajian has been wonderful and my co-workers who have also gone to him only have great things to day. I look forward to my annual teeth cleanings with Mary and don't mind needing dental attention from Dr Halajian because I trust his observations and recommendations. I have a lot of anxiety surrounding dental work, hence I found myself avoiding going in even though I was experiencing a lot of pain. When I finally made my way to Dr. Halajian, I had a lot going on. Over the course of the next two months, I had 4 cavities filled and 3 root canals with the crown followup. Dr. Halajian and his staff were very understanding of my anxiety, and took incredible care of me. Very gentle, explaining everything to me. My insurance maxed out after the first 2 visits, and I have acquired a certain amount of debt getting everything taken care of, but I feel it was worth it. No more pain, I have confidence that the work is top quality and will last. I had my regular check-up last week and am again VERY happy with my choice of dentist. Not everyone is perfect, but Dr. Gazarian empowers his team to fix problems. I came in last week for a check-up and had some problems waiting for them to get a computer up. Unfortunately, I had to leave without getting the exam I needed and I wasn't happy. I think I might be one of Dr. John Gazarian's earliest patients... I began with him in Woodland Hills, CA in 1977 and followed him to Glendale (in spite of now living in Simi Valley- 50 minutes from Glendale) and have been with him every since. My boys, ages 21, 22 and 25 have never seen another dentist, he's treated my husband, parents, my uncle, my sister and numerous friends. You could not ask for a more skilled, gentle and caring dentist. Case in point. My uncle had become very ill and spent close to 6 months near death in a hospital. After he'd recovered enough, his first request, to get his teeth fixed so he could smile again and eat. I called Dr. John. His treatment was planned carefully so he could minimize his visits (he'd lost his leg during his illness and it was hard for him to get around) Dr. John blocked off entire mornings to see only my uncle. If my uncle got tired, he was given breaks. My uncle was so comfortable being treated, he often fell asleep during treatment. Within 5 visits, my uncle had full mouth reconstruction and smiled like the Cheshire Cat and ate everything in sight. I read what Lauren H. wrote, and I'll tell you, we were happy to pay in advance to show Dr. John that we were committing to him, the same as he was committing to spend 4 hours with us! Over the years, I've gotten to know many of his staff-- most have been with him for years. That just doesn't happen in many businesses nowadays! I was at this office in February of 2008. I requested a white composite filling on a front tooth. I had HMO insurance plan that prescribed my co-pay as $0. The doctor there told me that it's gonna cost me $240 (refused to give me the price in writing). I pointed out to this doc. that per insurance schedule of benefits my copay on this front tooth is supposed to be $0. He laughed at my words "insurance schedule of benefits". Nasty, nasty. read more

They put me through extensive procedures, including pulling teeth, some of which I am sure was unnecessary. They screwed up my billing and were offended when I challenged their accounting. Dr. Halajian is a caring and honest dentist. He has a great rapport with his patients and takes the time to get to know them. I always feel at ease when I go to get my check ups. I've had dentists in the past who seem to try to find the smallest things with my teeth, so they can make an extra buck off me. I don't see that at all from Dr. Halajian. Hey Yelpers, just wanted to give you a update. So I consulted my insurance directly and found out that I was being overcharged on something that Eva told me I wasn't covered for but in fact I was. Additionally I was being charged another charge for less than 6 month check up since the dentist wanted to see me again in 3 months however I wasn't even told this! Finally they were charging for two medications when my insurance said I can probably get a generic brand that will cost lest so basically i was being over charged almost $250!!! I couldn't believe my ears. I was too early on giving this office a good review I am beyond upset and won't be going back, I rather pay an extra $20 and go to another office. read more

Extremely rude! Receptionist and nurse both yelling at me aggressively while I was waiting in the lobby to just get inside doctors office because they go to lunch at 1 (my appointment was at 12pm) to do X-rays and we will "deal with payment later". I have never experienced this for a preventative check up so I asked to call my insurance to double check on upfront costs because office was forcing me to do 2 separate appointments for preventative care and receptionist yelled at me to not call and just go inside. I insisted on calling so then she said she would "waive the fee". At that point I didn't trust what she was saying anymore and I didn't feel safe so I called my insurance and nurse came out told me to go inside and I told her that I'm talking to my insurance and I let receptionist know. She started yelling at me aggressively to hang up and get inside over and over. This is not professional or safe environment so I told her I don't feel safe and left. They were both yelling at me almost the entire time and luckily I had my insurance on the line to document the incident.Unless you want to be treated like a child and yelled at do not come here! BEWARE this is an unsafe environment and if you don't do what they say they will start yelling at you over and over to try to force you to do what they say!
