Prior to going to Dr. Kwon , we looked into a few other orthodontics to compare prices and contract requirements. I am pleased to say that I made the right choice. My children are very difficult when it comes to dentist/ortho/doctor appointments. Surprisingly, three of my children were so comfortable letting Dr. Kwon treat them. He takes his time to make sure the children are not nervous. My kids denied treatment a couple of times but the staff and Dr. Kwon waited patiently until they were ready. Kwon Orthodontics does excellent work and provides an excellent value. We just finished up my son's braces. Today he received his retainer. They take the before and after photos. Here is the after photos. It would have been fun to see how tall (or short) my son was in the first photo. I strongly recommend KWON ORTHODONTICS. With three teenaged boys who have seen three separate orthodontists, I feel uniquely qualified to write this review. The oldest son's orthodontist made scheduling difficult and had some pretty inflexible policies. My middle brace-face had a wildly popular orthodontist in La Canada who charges a FORTUNE! With the youngest, I started a new search for an orthodontic office we would like. We've struck gold with Kwon Orthodontics. First of all, the staff and doctors could not be nicer. Seriously, they are such sweet people. Second ,It's in a brand new building on Foothill in Pasdadena. I appreciate that it has really easy parking and isn't in some big medical building.. it's a stand alone which makes it quick and easy to get in and out. They are state of the art. Xrays are projected onto a gorgeous high def TV, not a little light box. The office is clean and beautiful. Their prices are good and their policies are accommodating for families on a budget. For example, the firstborn's ortho would charge $150 if my son broke a bracket on his braces. He did this multiple times.. which added up to quite a bit of extra charges. Kwon Orthodontics has no policy to charge for a broken bracket. Even if they were the most expensive (they are actually the lowest price of my three orthos), they are far and away the most pleasant to deal with. I love yelp, but i'm guilty of always looking things up and never taking the time to leave reviews. I wanted to review here because I really want other families to know what a great local orthodontic practice this is. read more

I recently finished my procedure at Kwon Ortho (February 2013). + 1 for my awesome results. I got so many compliments and I feel very confident about my smile. + 1 for AMAZING customer service.. I never had to wait for longer than 5 minutes when I came in for my appointments and they were always flexible and patient with me if I had to change my appointment time (or if I had to come in for an emergency band replacement... i have a sweet spot for gummies so this happened several times and they were always so nice about it!). +1 for an awesome ortho. Dr. Kwon always explained what he was doing to my teeth, why I would feel pain in certain areas, and what I could do to lessen the pain. + 1 for the beautiful facility. The facility is SPOTLESS and they always have something interesting playing on their tv in the waiting room... which, btw, feels more like a chic living room. +1 for the convenient location. I love that I didn't have to drive out to LA. Kwon Ortho is a solid 5 stars. I would recommend this place to any of my friends who want to have a pretty smile. read more

Braces suck. Two long years of metal mouth jokes, cut gums, food getting stuck everywhere, and pain at every tightening. But for those of you with f'ed up teeth like mine, it's a necessary evil to a winning smile. So if you have to go through with all of the suckiness braces entail, you might as well go to the best Orthodontist around. Granted, I've never had braces with anyone else, so I cant really compare, but Dr. Kwon is awesome. He's super nice, his staff is friendly, and they were always able to accommodate me when I need to change my schedule around. And most importantly, he fixed my teeth. No longer will I have to be self conscious of a snaggle-toothed smile. It's been years since I've had my braces removed and my teeth are still as perfect as can be. I cannot recommend Dr Kwon highly enough. He saved my smile, my confidence, and any prospects I have of ever getting a girl to talk to me. read more

Dr. Kwon is truly an artist. I spent 7 and a half months in braces (as an adult, ugh) with Kwon Orthodontics last year, and I was very impressed with my whole experience. I was quoted a fixed price for the work, including retainers afterwards, and all visits (including special circumstance visits - broken brackets, poking wires, etc) and equipment were covered. I've been going back for retainer fit checks, where Dr. Kwon adjusts them if needed and makes sure my teeth aren't shifting on occasion for 6 months now, and even that has been included in the original quoted price. They allow you to do monthly payments over however many months they estimate your treatment will take with no interest. Note that there is no discount for paying the entire balance upfront. It was never difficult to get an appointment. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen, and was usually ushered in right away. Lydia and the rest of the staff are fantastic! They can and will do any type of braces (assuming the method works with what you are trying to accomplish): metal, clear, damon, lingual, or Invisalign. That alone impressed me enough to make this office stand out from the get-go. I'd had consultations elsewhere where they really tried to push one method over another (for no good reason) or there were methods that they simply couldn't do. My one word of advice would be to do your own research regarding which type of braces you want before you go in. There is a ton of information on the internet and it would have helped to have had a better idea of the pros and cons of various methods so that I could have asked the right type of questions at my consultation. At the end of the day I chose traditional clear braces, and I couldn't be happier with my decision, experience, or smile. read more

I went to see Dr. Kwon for the first time when I was in 6th grade. It was like one of those rites of passage during puberty. Thank goodness I didn't need to wear headgear! It was painful sometimes, but when my treatment was completed, my teeth were straight and pretty. I had to go back recently because my bottom teeth were beginning to become crooked again. I should have worn my retainers so I wouldn't have to go back, but I really wanted straight teeth and needed new retainers. Dr. Kwon fit me for the new invisalign trays. I love them! It takes some time to get used to them, but it definitely is working! I'm so glad they have a new office close by to where I live. It's really nice and kid friendly. My toddler son can watch videos on the computer in the waiting room. Also, they accept most dental insurance carriers, which is great. It didn't cost as much as I thought it would. Yay!!! read more

I had an orthodontic treatment many years ago, and then my teeth started to shift after not wearing the retainer for a long time. I went to Dr. Kwon's office for a consultation. Instead of overselling me things that I might not need, he gave me very honest opinions and all the options I could choose from based on my needs - the prices for the 3 different plans were all very fair. The staff is very nice, the equipment is advanced, and the office is clean and neat. The waiting time was short and everyone was responsible. I brought my 10 year old son into Kwon Orthodontics for a consultation and I was shocked by the lack of bedside manner that both Dr. Kwon's exhibited. They did not explain to my son what they were planning to do - nor ask his permission to do it. He is 10 years old, and this was his first experience at an orthodontist. I went to Kwon Orthodontics for a consultation for my 10 year old son. It's a father and son practice and I don't plan on going back. Dr Kwon's English (father) is poor and the son has only been in practice for 3.5 years. I would personally want to take my son to someone with a bit more experience. Also, the thing that really turned me off from this practice is the lack of professionalism. I specifically asked for no x-rays and even took a copy of my son's x-ray from my general dentist because he just took photos a few months back. While I was in the waiting room, they ended up taking x-rays without even consulting me after I specifically asked for no x-rays. When I confronted this with Dr. Kwon junior he said that he had to take x-rays because children's teeth are constantly changing and he wanted to give me a thorough consultation. But, in my opinion, the professional approach should be to discuss this with me before the x-rays are taken, not after. Anyhow, this place seems to not really listen to what the customer wants and seems to think they know what is best for you (even better than yourself). read more

I went in for a replacement of retainers. Because I can't stand my original orthodontist, I needed to look for a new one after losing my retainers ASAP. Yesterday was my first visit in which they did the consultation, estimate, and molding of my teeth. Overall my experience for this appointment was fast, easy, and wonderful! I hate going to appointments and having to wait way past my time. It was great to finally get to see Dr. Kwon right away. Lydia, the reception that helped me was informative and nice as well as the woman that did the mold for my teeth which I didn't get a chance to catch her name. Dr. Kwon, the orthodontist was so informative!!! I didn't get the vibe that he was trying to sell me something that I don't need or to just sell me something to make profit...which is what my old orthodontist would do, ugh. He gave me great advice and also explained to me the 3 different options that I should consider and gave me logical reasoning behind the benefits for each one! Like I said VERY informative!
