I described the work needed and he gave me a preliminary quote. When he arrived to do the work, he quickly assed the job in detail and in my case, revised the quote down a bit. I needed a license plumber due to home insurance requirement to do this installation or I would've done it myself. They were responsive when I talked to them through Yelp projects. I was shocked with how much I was quoted because it was almost double the price of the automatic shut off valve device I paid for. So I had to confirm that the price that was given to me was just to switch out the bad unit with the new one. They didn't have to do anything else like run new pipes or replace anything else. When I communicated to them that the quote was high, they asked how much did i wanted to pay. I thought they would try to be more reasonable since the name is The Affordable. I give them a range based on the prices from other plumbing company that I reached out to and they couldn't do it which I understand they can set their own prices. Maybe for big projects, they'll give more of a reasonable price which is why they have great reviews on Yelp but just to replace a bad automatic shut off valve with a brand new one, I think it was overprice so I used another plumbing company where they were very reasonable on the price.
