What we did find were exceptional greens and wide open fairways in excellent condition. This is a shot makers course and if you don't stay in the fairway you'll be looking for your ball among the pine cones and good luck with that. The previous Head Pro, Matt has moved on to Piney Point in Norwood, NC. The new guy is Wally Moore. There are also two new ladies in the Pro Shop, Kayla and Melissa who are very efficient at getting you in and out. The range, chipping and putting practice areas are all in great condition. It was sunny day, a little on the cool side at 61 degrees for a 10a tee time with wind gusting to 27 mph. We had great pace of play and finished the front in 2 hours, it had warmed up to 67 and the wind was down. We made the turn and kept on playing as the group in front of us moving so we were able to play ready golf and complete the round in 4 hours. They advertise to allow 4.5 hours for 18 holes. Since this was my third time playing in 3 years, I had some course knowledge which made a big difference, especially on #11, 452 yard par 5. It's a blind shot until you're about 200 yards out and then you can see the edge of the pond that juts out to the right. You have a decision to make. Go over the water or play to the right & avoid the pond on your left and have 200 yards of open fairway to the pin. It's a large green so a well placed shot will give you a great birdie opportunity. I would play here more often but it's a 40+ mile trek through Charlotte traffic but it's worth it.

There is kinda a bar. I mean the pro shop has several bottles of liquor and the guy at the front desk makes a mean Jack and coke. The club has a driving range for about 10 people. They also have multiple chip and put greens. The course is solid. They take good care of the fairways and tee boxes. The greens are immaculate, very fast and impossible to read. So if going from birdie to bogie is your thing then this place is for you. There are a lot of great places to play in The Charlotte area. This place is middle of the pack with regard to cost/value, course difficulty, quality of greens and tee boxes. My cons are -food and drink options are lacking, too many par 3s, too many par 5s and those greens killed my score card lol. Would I go back? I'm not in a rush to go back but I will definitely go back this year.

The last time I played the course was in 1982, so it was 41 years ago. It's a private club so your expectations are high. Lot's of ups and downs with elevated tee boxes and and greens. Overall the course was in great condition, all the fairways were green and well mowed, tee boxes in great shape and the greens were well trimmed and rolling true. It was a Chamber of Commerce day with perfect weather! There were a couple of things I thought were odd. None of the holes were marked. No yardage distances from any of the tees. Normally it wouldn't even be a deal but there were 91 golfers, all in 4 somes and we all started on different holes. There are various turns over neighborhood roads so it got a bit confusing. The other thing was the driving range, it was all matt's. Who likes to hit off matt's especially warming up for a tournament and especially driver?

It's much larger than I imagined, with about 6 covered bays (with a heating option for wintertime) and over 10 open bays about 50 feet away, all overlooking a spacious, well-maintained range. They have Toptracer Range technology, which uses advanced ball tracking with high-speed cameras and sophisticated software. It's not just about hitting the balls. You can play interactive games, track your stats, and make it competitive. The games were a blast, and the staff was super friendly. The best part was the value. We got a large basket of 110 balls for just $16. That's over 50 balls per person and we played for well over an hour. Afterward, we discovered a small putting area on the side and spent another 30 minutes working on our mini-golf skills (and laughing a lot). I also noticed they offer lessons, sell drinks and snacks, and in the fall they transform part of the range into the Hickory Grove Haunted Trail. Overall, it was a really fun experience: easy games, great price, and friendly staff and patrons.

My husbands got there and they couldn't find his appointment in the system for that day. The staff was very corteus and apologized for the inconvenience.Hubby scheduled an appointment with Dough for the week after. His initial lesson was for an hour. Doug gave my husband practical advide about his golfing technique: posture,swing,golf clubs etc... He has been there two more times and every single time comes home raving about the experience. I would say after the initial "hiccup"... The investment was worth it.

Doug Spencer spent some time first focusing on those things/issues that were unique to her and her body measurements. He quickly figured out how she's wired and adapted his instruction to fit her learning style. The results are profound. Her confidence has increased, her overall fitness has improved, and the quality of her play is very different now. Her yardages have increased around 20% across the board and she couldn't be happier with what she's accomplished. One word of caution if you're a parent seeking this level of instruction: Your golfer has to do the work to make it work. The drills and swing adjustments that will be assigned may not always make sense at the time, but in the long run, it will all fall into place. You have to trust in the process and let it play out.
