    PHILLY CHEESESTEAK - Steak Cheesesteak
    Megan Z.

I visit Boston every year for my medical needs at BCH & Mass Gen/Brigham. I've been in the Longwood Galleria many times, I've been coming to Boston for 20+ years. Believe it or not, I've NEVER tried a Cheesesteak in my life. Being from Chicago, we don't have Cheesesteaks. Here, it's about the Italian Beef Sandwich. Two VERY different, yet delicious sandwiches. After a long medical day, I strolled into the Longwood Galleria to scout out dinner to take back to my hotel room. The Longwood Galleria is basically a giant food court. The first place that caught my eye was Charley's. I figured there is no better time than now to try the cheese steaks! I ordered Charley's Original & Classic Steak Philly Cheesesteak. I also added an order of Charley's "Ultimate Fries". Their hand-cut fries are freshly fried and topped with cheese sauce, ranch, and bacon crumbles. They're so good you'll refuse to share! Be sure anyone with you gets their own order! The bread was delicious and soft. The steak inside was cooked perfectly. It was tender, delicious, and seasoned perfectly. No chewy/fatty/gristly pieces- which is what my worry was. It was so good I ordered them in for delivery again a few days later to my hotel. The food portion for the money is outstanding. Everything is hot, fresh, accurate, & packaged properly. Delivery is fast and hot. As a Chicagoan, I have to say the Italian Beef is still King. However, the cheese steak did not disappoint!

They charged my card almost 200 for 1 sandwich. And charged multiple times over several days this is just one picture I wasn't even there yesterday. Nashua New Hampshire

Not a bad cheesesteak in my opinion. I ordered a small combo. It comes with fries and a drink, total cost 9.54 with a specialty drink, strawberry lemonade, and regular fries. They take cards. Order at the register and walk down to pick up your food at the end. You can add typical sandwich toppings to any sandwich at no additional cost. Comes with ketchup in packets, you can grab mustard, any other condiment you have to ask for at the end. At first i was a bit disappointed by the way the meat, cheese, onions, peppers, mushrooms looked inside the sandwich, it looked too small, like i would just be eating a bread sandwich... Turned out ok. Tasted good and it was filling. Fries were crisp thick cut but not steak fry size. The best was the strawberry lemonade. The strawberry syrup they add to the lemonade makes it almost too sweet, but it was real strawberries in it. This place is recently opened, when the lines get longer they're going to have to corral the line somehow to organize how a customer gets to one of the two registers.

I haven't tried a Charley's since moving to Boston. The setup is a little different than the one in Hawaii on Schofield Barracks. The one in Schofield has the grill up front. You talk to the cook as he prepares your sandwich. This one, the grill is in back. My wife loves their iced teas with fruit at the bottom. The Philly Cheesesteak was pretty good. The service was friendly. They forgot the paper napkins in the bag, which is my only negative. Otherwise, it was a good experience.

This place was recommended to me by my coworkers for a quick bite. They kept the menu simple and visible right in front so I chose what was obvious and went for the steak and cheese. The service was quick when it came to heating up the meat on the grill. My bread from the steak and cheese sub was nicely toasted as well so whole combination tasted was pretty decent for food on-the-go. It's just a little messy but I guess that's Philly cheese steak for ya!

I asked the grille guy if he was serious when he gave this cheese steak. It didn't taste too bad for mostly being bread.

Parking in the area can be a bit tricky, but it's super convenient to get to via the Green Line, which made it easy overall. For food, everything was delicious: The Romaine & Kale Caesar was good, though I wish it had whole anchovies for a little extra punch. The prosciutto bruschetta was incredible, definitely a standout. The crispy cauliflower was my favorite dish of the night, so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The rigatoni bolognese was solid and comforting. The Chianti-Marsala braised beef short rib was insanely tender and cooked perfectly (just wish there were a few more mushrooms!). Also have to mention the dirty martini was so good. Overall, such a great spot with a fun vibe, amazing service, and really tasty food. I'll definitely be back!

It is a good sandwich. It's a pretty great sandwich, actually. I like the Boss, but there are many great options. There are just two things to keep in mind: 1) it's relatively expensive (though doable) 2) the sandwiches are quite rich and salty, often relying on a flavorful cream element (truffle cream, pistachio cream, etc.) As a result, I probably wouldn't go every day or even every week. But a once-a-month cadence or so would be great. Try it!
