My wife and have eaten at the Pearlridge Charley's many times in the past and have enjoyed their sandwiches mainly because they are very consistent in making their sandwiches. Last week we did not know where to eat lunch while we were in town so I suggested the food court in Ala Moana. When we go to the food court we usually look at every restaurant stall before deciding on what to eat. My cardiologist strongly hinted that I need to cut out beef and pork from my diet so I have been trying to make healthier choices so I decided on a Chicken cheesesteak combination from Charley"s. My wife also chose to order from Charley's and selected the Philly cheesesteak combination. We both ordered the smallest sandwich size in our combos. My wife agreed with me when I mentioned that the small sandwich at Charley's in Ala Moana is bigger than the one they served at the Pearlridge branch. Up until now I rarely choose a chicken option over beef or pork but the chicken cheesesteak was delicious and my wife enjoyed her meal as well. Visited this place with my hubby for lunch when taking a break from shopping. This place was ok. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be from when I remembered from before. I got their Philly sub with gourmet fries with cheese and bacon. The meat was kinda dry on my sub. I wished they would drench the meat on it with their cheese sauce to at least moisten the meat itself. It's a pretty good size and all, but the meat was a little dry. Their gourmet cheese fries with bacon was downer. The cheese on the fries was very very salty, I didn't get to finish it so I ate around the cheese and bacon. Too bad, I used to like their food. Me, I don't care for green peppers, so I ask to have those left off. Sandwiches come in various sizes. You can make it a meal deal and get fries and a drink. I will say that this sub shop is conveniently located, the girls at the register are super nice, and the cooks are fast. You watch them cook your food right in front of you so you're not missing any behind the scenes shenanigans, which I appreciate, and they will customize your sub to your liking. I always get the jalapeno cheese steak with jalapeno ranch on top; tastes good! It is a smidgen pricey which is why they aren't getting 4 stars. We also got the strawberry lemonade which is amazing! There are bits of strawberry and they give you a slightly larger straw so you can get all that goodness when drinking. On my last visit here I ordered a meal for myself and a sandwich and drink for my fiancee. The employee repeated the order back to me and announced the order to the kitchen. I got my two drinks quickly and got my fries relatively quickly too. However, the kitchen gave me only one sandwich. When I looked at the recent, I was only charged for one so the second wasn't made. So I went back to re-order the second sandwich. The employee questioned why I was ordering the same sandwich again when I just got the other one. Got a traditional Philly cheesesteak and the ultimate fries. Both were good, but not amazing. If there is a next time, I'm going to see if they can add chili to the ultimate fries to truly make them ultimate! The fries were yummy, but you can tell the quality of the potato wasn't anything special. Hard to not like fries with bacon, cheese and ranch! If I could have them any way, I would do the same with a higher grade potato, and use real cheese instead of a liquid nacho cheese. Perhaps even seasoned fries to start? Add chili!?! Yum! As for the cheesesteak, I like how they have so many different varieties. I always like to start with the original, which I did. I also like how their preparation area is in plain view, kind of fun to watch them to prepare the food. They use frozen beef. I love their Cheesesteaks. I've had the really good ones in Philly, New York, NJ and this is the closest, in my opinion, to the real thing. Sounds funny being that this is a fast food/franchise store but the overall quality is pretty good. Nice soft fresh bread, fresh veggies, nice portion of meat, the cheese is soft and stretchy (some places use those neon orange fake powdered cheese but not here!) and the best part is they make the Subs right in front of you. You can have the sub the way you like it - no tomatoes? no problem. No mayo? No problem. They also have lots of great deals and coupons. They will either hand you a little coupon depending on the promotion they have, or check the back of your receipt and sometimes they have an offer where they ask you to answer a quick survey online and you can get free fries/drink with a purchase of a sandwich - not bad right? The sandwich tasted good enough, as far as I could tell, although they are REALLY tight on the fillings! There was MAYBE a third of what a real sandwich should have as for the amount of stuff in it! So not worth the Ala Moana price tag! This was the saddest Philly cheese steak sandwich I've ever had!!!
