    Charley's Cheesesteak Philly Cheesesteak
    Rebecca C.

Charley's Cheesesteaks remind me of the good old days. I would choose Charley's Cheesesteaks sandwiches over Subways. They have tastier sandwiches and their service is better than Subways. They always have a line but what surprises me is that there's only 2 locations available to civilians since the other 2 locations are inside a military base. The one on Ala Moana inside the food court. It's definitely filled with lots of noises from so many customers looking to buy foods from a variety of restaurants. What's great is that they have a huge dinning space so you're always able to find a table and chair. I got Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. It looks simple but pack with flavors. I got it paired with their Cheese and Bacon Fries. It was sooo cheesy and bacon yummy!!! I forgot to take a picture but I got my meal paired with strawberry lemonade. It's sweet, tangy and a perfect combination to stimulate your tastebuds. Thank you for reading my review. Have a great weekend!

Closer view of the KIMCHI FRIES

I walked by Charleys Cheesesteaks at the Ala Moana Center (AMC) food court on the street level, with my walking buddy today. My buddy was picking up lunch at a nearby establishment for her mom. I walked around and I spied a "New Item" promotional sign at Charleys Cheesesteaks for Kimchi Fries. Hmmm. I really enjoyed the Wagyu Kimchi fries from Seoul Mix 2.0, in the Lanai food court at AMC, so I thought I should give it a try! I ordered the fries and waited a while for my order. I asked the employee who took my order if she tried it yet. She shrugged her shoulders. That should've been my first clue. When I picked up my order, I opened it to take a Quick Look. Please compare my photos with the one taken from Charleys Cheesesteaks website. The description is provided as well. It did not look good. It was like viewing an explosive volcano of goopy cheese sludge and sauce over fries. Look very carefully and you may observe what looks like diced onions, however, I think that's the kimchi. My walking buddy and I took a taste, as it was very hot and "fresh". Hard stop now! Yuck! It was sour tasting and the "cheese" did NOT taste like cheese. It was a very odd and off flavor sauce covering of the fries. It did not taste at all like kimchi and gochujang. I can't really adequately explain the flavor, other than it tasted like a sour tasting spicy sauce of liquified gochuchang, goopy "cheese", vinegar, salt, ketchup and onions? We both refused to eat anymore after our first taste. The fries were taken home for my hubby to try. He will usually try and eat anything I bring home. He tried it and after a bite , the entire container of kimchi fries met its end. Tossed into our rubbish can. I cannot recommend this "new item". Service: 3/5 stars Ambiance: 2/5 stars (Food court atmosphere and not very clean) Food: 1/5 stars

Love how they load each sandwich with lots of meat, every bite is perfect. From the flavor to the service! Love how they make your order right In front of you. So if you're looking for a savory filled sub, this is the place to get it!!

Today I got to try the Large Philly Cheese Steak and it was very tasty & fresh. They cooked in right in front of me and they were so friendly and efficient.

Got the Oldschool Cheesesteak sandwich. And dang let me just say that this is my favorite philly cheesteak sandwich I have had thus far!! Perfect amount of meat, cheese, and savory sauteed onions. They have options of a 6 inch, 9 inch, or a 12 inch sandwich. It's located in ala moana's food court and they have a kiosk next to the cashier if u want to customize and order on the side at your convenience. The only reason why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that parking at ala moana isnt the best. And I'd only be able to come here if I ever go to ala moana for errands/shopping (which is not that often) Please open up another store somewhere else on island :)

Friday night dinner at the Ala Moana food court led one of us to Charley's Cheesesteaks, and honestly, it was a bit of a letdown. The service was...lackluster. The employees weren't exactly rude, but they definitely weren't friendly. It felt like we were inconveniencing them, which isn't a great feeling. I get it, it was late on a Friday and they were probably tired, but customer service still matters. Then there's the price. Being in Ala Moana, we expected a bit of a markup, but the cost was surprisingly high for a single cheesesteak. It just felt overpriced. As for the sandwich itself? It was...fine. Nothing special. I've definitely had better cheesesteaks, and at that price, I was expecting a lot more. It was just an average sandwich, and that's disappointing.

I haven't had a real cheesesteak in close to 5 years since moving here 2.5 years ago from LA so I thought I would try this place out. I tried the regular size kim chee cheesesteak combo, which was slightly under $20. I hate to say it but it wasn't anything remarkable. It was a star above anything from Subway. The sandwich roll was on the chewy side, like either it was not that fresh or it had been slightly microwaved to keep the sandwich hot. The flavors from the kim chee, cheese and beef were there but nothing to bring home about. I just finished it about 10 minutes ago and I honestly can't remember it enough that I have something to write about. The amount of food in the sandwich did not match what was shown on the sign advertising this limited item offering so that is a definite deterrent if I want a cheesesteak again next time. I was looking forward to the fries since they looked like thick cut fries. Although the fries were hot, they were bland and it seemed like it was cooked from "frozen" or "fresh frozen." Adding ketchup did not help it any. Hahaha! It's in the food court of Ala Moana so no need to write about that. The service was "meh." My order was called and the server didn't even give any napkins. She gave it only when asked. Like who works as a server and doesn't check something as easy as giving napkins when you know the food you're selling is a bunch of finger foods? Anyways, most places around aren't home runs when it comes to flavor so it's just middle of the road. I started giving it 3 stars but after thinking about the chewy bread, seemingly cooked from frozen fries, slightly below average customer service, and chintzy amount in the sandwich, I downgraded it to two stars.

The best, most comforting yet healthy food at the best price point in the entire Ala Moana main food court!! I love their sandwiches and their gourmet fries with cheese, ranch sauce, and bacon bits!! Very satisfying and delicious memorable!! Great staff and great vibe!!

    Meat to bread ratio

$17 for a Philly that wasn't filled with the meat, peppers and extra mushrooms. More bread than anything.

Chicken California sandwich, regular size. It had a lot of chicken. Messy to eat - get lots of napkins. Also got the bacon/cheese fries and regular fries. Along with the cheesesteak sandwich. My family inhaled their sandwiches before I could take a picture, along with the fries. The regular fries were a little dry. But I liked that they had the skin on.

    Chicken Teriyaki & Fries

Five stars. Recommended. Always a good hot, fresh, and delicious sub sandwich at Charley's Cheesesteaks. I love the chicken breast subs, especially the teriyaki one. The chicken is grilled fresh on the grill, right in front of you. The sub is then made after that and served hot to you. The fries are made fresh and hot. It's a thicker cut fry, so it has a different texture to the thin fries at other fast food joints. It's good! All in all, if you want a hot fresh chicken sub and fries, Charley's is the place to be!

I love this sandwich. They used to have menu of Jalapeño cheese steak sandwich but there is no menu now. But server told me, can add Jalapeños cooking with steak. Sounds good. Very very good service, and very efficient friendly service. I always love this place. Sandwich? Yes. Of course, so delicious fresh made, beef steak, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, pickles and jalapeños. French fries, freshly cooked, hot and crispy. I love this place. Price is not bad with quality of food and service. At work I shared with my team, they loved it too. I come here very often. I never get tired. I am addicted. Ha Ha Ha...

Believe it or not! This was my very cheesesteak sandwich! I know, I know! Where have I been in a cave? I just never really thought of having one before because it just didn't seem all that great. Boy was I wrong LOL We had just arrived in Hawaii to help our daughter Leilah get checked into Hawaii Pacific University (Go Sharks) so we decided to head on over to the food court/market and grab a bite to eat. I am so glad that there are ample choices to pick from because I did not want to get stuck with Rice!! And many of you already know from following my journey that wifey loves her some rice! I was in food heaven! So what the heck let's just try a cheesesteak, why not? scanning the menu was when the bacon god's revealed the "Bacon Three Cheese with Fries!" Oh yes! Bacon and Cheese! How can you go wrong with that combo on a sandwich or a burger? It wasn't that busy so the food came out fast which was a real treat for an empty tum tum. I found wifey and Leilah already sitting down about to grub on... wait for it! Yep, you guessed it SOME DAWG GON RICE! Leilah had some kind of new vegetarian plate because she is now a pescatarian. Kids! I sat down with my beef and bacon with three kinds of cheese with no shame and feasted like a king. It was wonderful! Tender, juicy, and just what the bacon god's ordered! Okay, now I know. Love to all those in Philly! You have earned my respect. Thanks Charley for making me a believer. Pray, Eat, and LOVE! MORE BACON!!!! M&M

Chicken Philly- get the beef, it's better!

Bread and cheese were good. Prime rib was good, all the sides were delicious as well. Cashier was very friendly and chef came out to thank us for coming there. Hospitality is a 5/5 for me, and made our experience way better. I thought it might be a scam but thankfully there were confirmed orders on Yelp.my husband ordered a bunch of stuff: Mac and cheese burger, chicken sandwich (for me), fried pickles, French fries, steak and cheese spring rolls, bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers. I was surprised how quick the order came to our hotel room-30 min! Food temperature - The food overall Luke warm. Obviously it's going to loose some heat with delivery. Taste - the fried pickles were standard tasting. The dill ranch was very good with it. The chicken sandwich had no taste. I don't know if it was because the chicken was thick but whatever seasoning it was coated in or sauce on the sandwich, there was no flavor. I even added some of the dill ranch to my sandwich and no improvement even though the sauce was very flavorful by itself. My husbands Mac and cheese cheese burger had no flavor besides the bacon. He said the best part was the Mac and cheese which I didn't get any of once he handed me the rest of his burger. The fries were good but would have been amazing fresh. The jalapeño poppers were flavorful along with the spring rolls. Nacho cheese came with the spring rolls and a spicy tasting ketchup. Good selection of sauces. Convenience- My husband wanted extra ranch and there was no way to add that on the door dash app and calling them was ineffective. Could be problematic if an order was incorrect or missing items. Overall - for a restaurant with flavor town in its name there was very little flavor in half our food. Disappointed by that fact. Service was quick but they wouldn't deliver it to the room. Might depend on door Dash drivers since our order last night was able to come to our hotel room. but since it seems most are ordering through the app that might be a deciding factor for some.

How could this possibly be true, but yet so elaborate? I went online to see if this was a scam and there was a mention that he is doing this ghost kitchen concept in about 23 cities to help the restaurant business through the pandemic. Then, I did see this pop up on food delivery apps (door dash) and then looked up where the ghost kitchen could possibly be - which turned up to be Buca di Beppo in ward. Knowing this made me feel so much better. The downside of this is that it's delivery only - so your food might arrive cold (which it did). I had to reheat some of my sides in the air-fryer. The second downside is that because it's delivery - you have to pay an additional delivery fee and tip so it does come out more than expected. For 2 burgers, 1 appetizer, and 2 fries came out to $50. After delivery fees and tip was about $66 which is a little pricey In my opinion. The delivery came out of post mates when you put in the order through the link on yelp. The delivery person was in a unmarked car but there was this link they send you after you place your order to see the progress (and they were late by 10 mins also). What I ordered was the following- Bourbon wings (award winning) and definitely the star of everything I ordered. It is about $13 for half dozen wings and comes with a side of ranch that had a nice dill taste to it. Fried pickles (6-7$) and was on the spicy side a little. There wasn't much in there and also arrived warm/cold. Fries ($5) had good texture and flavors but was cold! I had to reheat them in the air fryer. Chicken sandwich ($12) was huge and was tasty. I'm sure it would have been awesome if we got it fresh. Mac and cheese burger ($13) was also huge and held up better than the chicken sandwich. I would probably get the burger over the chicken sandwich. It was definitely filling and we have leftovers for tomorrow. Do also note there's no additions or substitutions to your order.

Located right across pier 38 on nimitz highway called "Nimitz center" This insides is all new and modern looking. Its airconditioned (of course) with comfortable padded seats and veneer type tables. The insides is airy comfortable and not too loud (Well at least when we was there). The staff or wait help seemed to be seasoned and knew their job well. They were pleasant And accomodating. The menu consist of the usual burgers.. entries..soups salads...etc...prices are manageable and portions are good... A good alternative to gyppies. Go check them out they are a good option

I could've done a better job with my eyes closed! The waitress had a lot to be desired too. She didn't seem to care about our well being. There were only 3 tables in the restaurant but she couldn't be bothered checking on our dinners or stopping by to see if we needed anything! She was too busy talking story with the kitchen crew! Won't be going back!

After coming here a few times, I realized I needed to update my review…read more I'm not sure if we are imagining things but the burgers seem bigger and are tastier than we remembered. Or maybe we've changed lol Anyways, I think this place deserves 5 stars for taste, quality, and price. Their simple cheeseburgers are perfect. It's quality beef and the prices are justified. Especially on Tuesdays where cheeseburgers are $6 from 4-7pm at this location. Staff are always accommodating and friendly. I appreciate their customer service! Support local. This place serves up burgers well beyond any fast food chain. Do yourself a favor and go here on Tuesdays at least! Best deal in town. A definite must when looking for a tasty burger in the area!

I chose the Teri-Kim Burger ($13) and shared an order of Garlic Fries ($9) with one that ordered a Blue Hawaii Burger ($15). Others ordered the Portabello Veggie Burger Combo ($21.20), Single XL Cheeseburger ($11) and Large Fries ($7), and the Pastrami Sandwich with Fries ($16). With tax and tip, the order came to $107.29. My Teri-Kim burger was great! Flavorful and juicy ... I wished there was a bit more teriyaki flavor. The garlic fries suffered from the ride back to the office ... They were a bit soggy. Everyone else enjoyed their burgers ... It's been a while since we ordered food from the Beretania location. The food is good but we also like the smash burger that's within walking distance of our office in Chinatown. One last comment, $9 for garlic fries seems a bit much.

As I looked around wondering where it was due to how pretty the arrangement of the bento and how tasty it looked, I had to ask the couple where they got it from. They pointed to olena's literally 5 feet away from me (so podagee). As I went in, I was greeted with such aloha that warms you to your core like a nice sunny day at the beach. I had to ask them about their bento, as soon as I heard crispy ahi rolls, pancit, and a brownie, I was sold. Folks, this is no regular bento. This is a bento made to order with love that will have you feeling like a champ after consumption. The pancit was made perfectly, not too dry, not too wet. The texture and taste of the freshly cooked pancit is a force to reckon with. The perfectly crispy spicy ahi rolls was so killer, I was sad to have noticed I ate it all and ran out. Could easily mop another 4 of these buggas. The brownie at the end, the cherry on top, did not disappoint. The texture was so smooth, not too overpowered with sweetness yet not too weak to notice. Didn't even need to pound water to put it down. The brownie, she go! I was even given a nicely chilled banana poi bread at no charge, which is literally winners. This bento was the ideal choice to pick up. I cannot wait to come back with my wife and daughter. Do not sleep on this place. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!
