I've used Charley's several times, including all my trips to the airport. Every time I schedule a cab pickup, they are usually early and they give you an auto-call to let you know they have arrived. Drivers have been friendly and help out with luggage. They ask which airline I'm flying and take me right to the curb. If I'm downtown and call them, they are very prompt getting to my location. Maybe they don't have Frank De Lima dressed as "Tutu" doing commercials for them, but in my mind they are still way better than "The Cab". read more

Charley's Taxi service has been amazing to me, I had to plan a last minute trip to the mainland and in doing so I had no idea how I was going to get from my house to the airport. The manager was super helpful and able to get me a flat rate. I was so grateful that they were able to alleviate some of that stress from the trip. I am flying back to the island today and I just called to schedule my ride home and they were as friendly and helpful as always. Cab was relatively clean and the driver was pleasant. Made reservations 2 days ahead from airport to hyatt. They didn't have it. Had to wait for a while for them to pick us up. Dispatch told us $30 flat rate. Got charged $45. Wasn't happy with this. Used uber for the rest of our vacation. read more

We arrived at the airport on an international flight at 5 AM. We needed a ride to the airport, and we told we needed to reserve a cab - what? So I went on my smart phone looking for a cab service. Charley's looked good so I called them. We had four big pieces of luggage and a light mobility scooter (35 lb Travelscoot) - and at 5 AM the dispatcher fixed us up with a charming guy who took us, our luggage, and the scooter to a hotel in Waikiki for about $30 - seemed extremely reasonable to us! He was good company and very kind. Sometimes cabbies are less than understanding about mobility problems - this guy wanted to make sure that not only were I and my luggage in his car, but that I was COMFORTABLE! This was a new experience for me. I am now a Charley's fan and have downloaded their app and made reservations for the rest of my visit here in Honolulu. What a wonderful company! read more

I come from a different perspective. I have Driven taxicab in Ocala and Pensacola, Florida; Chicago, Il; and Columbus, OH as well as 6 companies in Honolulu. I have always been a minister of the gospel in smaller churches and have had to be self supporting, but always conscious of answering to a higher authority than the laws, the cab company rules or the Customer. I finally had to surrender my Taxicab Certificate in February 2015 due to an arrythmic heartbeat and being past 75, doctors would not pass me for my PUC physical. (I still can work as hard, lift as heavy and long as any healthy 20-30 year-old.) However, from the time I joined the Charley's Taxi fleet in 2013 until I had to leave, I have never known a company so attentive to giving the best quality of service both to the drivers and the customers. Several times, I picked up passengers who had waited too long for a Uber or Lyft car whose drivers do not have to pass the PUC physicals and get all the background checks we had to have, both to be licensed and to work for the company. At Charley's, Cars are closely inspected monthly or cannot work until faults are corrected. Any reports of mis-charging, rudeness or reckless driving are taken seriously by the owner and management and the driver WILL have a meeting with management and may be penalized or terminated if the situation warrants. By far, this is the best and most reliable taxi company on the Island of Oahu, yet it is not the most expensive. Of course, the Rate charges and vehicle Insurance requirements are established by City Law. Therefore, the rates must be higher to cover those costs which Uber and Lyft somehow get by without and so may offer lower rates, but the confidence in the Company and the level of quality demanded of drivers is worth the little more cost than the Uber and Lyft rates which are not regulated by the law. read more

Taxi informed us after they arrived that there was not a flat rate even though the web site said there was from Ko Olina to Pearl Harbor. The taxi driver her self was a nice lady. She called her boss and he said no flat rate. Expected the pay 55$ ended up being 70$. It is fraudulent to place an ad and not offer what it claimed. read more

I was at the Airport Animal Quarantine and didn't know until I was there that I could not take my dog out of the kennel on airport property. The kennel was too big to fit in our car intact so I called and the dispatcher sent Moe to me right away. He helped load the kennel in the back of the van and then let me follow him until we were off the property and could take my dog out of the kennel. Moe was very professional and I am truly grateful that he went out of his way to help me get my dog. If I ever need to call a taxi again I will call Charley's and hopefully whoever I get is just as awesome as Moe. read more

Charleys taxis failed to fulfill a reservation for a taxi with airport pickup. The company then kept us on hold for fifteen minutes while we tried to see where the taxis were. The operator hung up on us after stating that 'they should be there'. No taxi ever arrived. From this experience, it appears that The company is not organized, not responsive, and not service oriented. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Charley's Taxi. They picked up my family from Diamondhead, after a long trek, and dropped us off at the Aloha Stadium for the flea market. I had not noticed after our drop off that my glasses case broken off my pants. Later that day, we received a phone call from our taxi driver Jenny that a glasses case was found. She was very nice enough to drop off my glasses at my hotel guests drop off in Waikiki that same evening. I want to give a very big thanks to Jenny, who secured my glasses and went out of her way to bring me back my glasses. I thought my sunglasses were good as gone especially here in Waikiki. We used our credit card without problems. The cars were crown Victoria's or mini vans, clean and comfortable. These guys have extremely high standards for service. They don't have as many "stands" (places where you can simply walk in and get a cab) but you can get a hold of them on the phone and get a cab sent to you. Most cabs take 5-15 minutes. Unlike TheCab, which I've reviewed before, Charley's Taxi has a VERY high standard for their drivers and the cars they drive. You feel like a million bucks when you're picked up by them. The cab drivers are well dressed and the inside and outside of their cars are clean. The dispatcher you speak with is very professional and the whole experience is generally positive. The drivers don't complain if you pay using your credit card (this is a huge issue with TheCab drivers) and most of them are either locals or speak enough English that you can communicate with them. A lot of them are very knowledgeable of the roads. Most of the time I can simply tell a driver what intersection to take me to and they'll do it without needing to look it up on their GPS (which seems pretty modern - take a look at the pictures others have put up). Their rates are slightly higher (about 5-10 cents more than TheCab) and they do take a bit longer to pick you up, but I think for the peace of mind of riding with a professional service it's worth it. If you need to get somewhere and you're willing to wait a little longer, give them a call. read more

Charlies Taxi has been a nightmare for me. I get up early to go to a clients house to get her ready for daycare, Charlies taxi supposed to pick up at 8am but a lot of times they don't come till 8:15 or 8:30, the last time they came at 9:30. My client has a contract with Charlies for the 8am pick up but a lot of times they don't honor the contract. What really gets me is when I call to remind them of the 8am pick up and they act like they don't know we have a standing appointment and say "ok we'll get someone out right away " and it's late by then. The last time I called 3 times and on the 3rd call they told me the appointment to pick up was cancelled, but earlier they told me someone was coming to pick us up.‍ The cab was suppose to pick us up at 8 but didn't arrive till 9:30. My days are extremely busy with appointments 30 minutes apart, dealing with Charlies taxi would really mess my day up and push everything back and put me on the war path at the start of my day. So in order to deal with this situation I've decided to drop my 6am client. I don't need to get up so early 4am to get ready for work and to be upset at the start of my day with a company like Charlies taxi that doesn't do business promptly and does not have proper phone etiquette or run their business with organization. For my personal use I will never choose Charlies taxi. read more

Called to schedule my appointment last night and specifically asked and reiterated that it was on post. The driver was late, didn't get to post until 4:46- I call Charley's and the gentlemen who answered said "he's headed your way", so I calm a bit, but then 452 comes and still no taxi. I call back and tell the lady who answers to please find her driver and get him to me because SHE said he was going the wrong way. Uugghh he arrived at 5(the time I was supposed to be at the airport) without as much as an apology for his delay or NOTHING. Then he whines about a heavy bag. I'm 5'3, 140 lbs and although heavy I did lift the bag a few times myself, so I help him load it. I get to the airport and the bill is $18.80 which IMO is ridiculous since Hickam is RIGHT NEXT DOOR. Ok, I have to give them one star because a cab finally showed up and dropped me off. It took 12 minutes from the time I called, the driver made me walk in the traffic lanes of a busy street to get into the cab, and he dropped me off a half a block from the address I gave him because he was too lazy to care. He timed his drive to hit every red light on South King, with the meter chugging happily along. In the end it cost just I've twice what the same ride cost me with Uber a week ago. My father was on his way to the airport via bus all the way from Punaluu. Per his usual MO, he was late. He was also grumpy, tired, rushed and not looking forward to the TSA molestation, cancer-inducing porno scanners and long lines. He had no cash and doesn't own a credit or debit card. I was in Denver waiting for him, and called 10 different cab companies; Charley's was the only one who would accept a credit card via fax or email. The gentleman who helped me (Kevin), provided his Charley's email address and I was able to take a picture of the credit card and my ID to go authorize the purchase. They were very helpful, calling me and calling him, trying to find him Downtown. The driver got him to the airport really fast as well...we were amazed. If you are in a bind and need to call a cab for a relative/friend, Charley's will work with you to make it happen. read more

Poor service. After making a reservation, I called as there email instructed to after landing only to be told to call back once I received my bags and was outside as the taxi would be ready. I did just that only to be told the taxi will be dispatched and will be there in 10 minutes. I waited 25-30 minutes for the taxi and called a 3rd time to see what was going on. I spoke to dispatch and was told they made a mistake and that they would dispatch a taxi and it will come in 10 minutes. Wouldn't recommend. Another let down is that they tell you to wait under two umbrellas which coincidentally are the smoking areas outside the terminal. read more

This is by far the best way to and from the airport. Staff on the phone is quick and friendly. Drivers are easy to find since they give you a cab number. Always clean and courteous drivers. Total FAIL, I called and got a reservation for a $55 flat rate out to Ko Olina Resort. I called a day and a half in advance of arriving at HNL airport on 08-08-17 (as they recommended). I arrived on time and called them with confirmation number. They told me where to wait for driver and said "10-12 minutes". 20 minutes later... I called again. They said 10 more minutes. I waited 20 more. Called again... "we can see you in our system... but there is some kind of corruption, we will enter you again, I can't tell you how long it will be". I waited 20 more minutes and called back. "Oh sorry, we don't have any drivers accepting your trip". I called an Uber and happily paid $79. They arrived in a beautiful clean SUV within 6 minutes. read more

We have been here about 2 weeks we haven't had much luck with friendly anything...lol we tried to stick to just our family and avoid working people. One day we needed a ride and called a taxi we ended up getting Susan. She's an independent driver with Charlie's Tax, she was so sweet. We talked with her, learned island tips heard about her life. When I called for a ride back she knew right away who we were. We also have set up a airport ride with her. Our family of 23 all here is using her and her boyfriend as well. They are so sweet and friendly. We called to let them know just how satisfied we were and blown away with the kindness. I recommend them for all to use. read more

Way to the airport from Mcculy area. I booked online, and thought it would be a flat rate ($29). Because the website says the flat rate is applicable not only from Waikiki, but also from UH manoa, which is pretty close to Mcculy area. Taken for granted, I tried to pay the driver, who is an Asian lady, prob Chinese, she said it was 39 (cab meter says 37.5!!). She overcharged me!! I asked why it wants to $29 flat rate, and she said it was only from Waikiki... So, future customers, be aware! If you use this cab company not from Waikiki, the driver will charge an usual, expensive meter based charges!! From Waikiki, that would be nice, but do not use from other areas!!! I will not use this company again. read more
