Terrible. F with a capital F. The flat rate is great. Reservation system doesn't exist. Reserved a taxi for my daughter who is 20 flying alone and not once - But twice a Charley's taxi took another passenger who didn't have her reservation number nor name. She had to stand alone at the airport for almost an hour before they finally sent a taxi that picked her up. Why have a reservation number if it is worthless? Zero dependability. read more

I called Charley's the day of my trip to book a "flat rate" to Waikiki as mentioned on their website. The receptionist who answered said to call when my flight landed and they would send a car. I mentioned that I wanted to make a reservation to be sure of the rate, and she told me it would be the same rate either way. When I landed I called and my car arrived, but when we started I noticed the cab was metered. The driver was unaware of the rate mentioned by the receptionist. It ended up being only $4 more than the flat rate listed, but I still felt it was dishonest business. read more

They got me from Hotel to Magic Island where my wife and I tied the knot. Asked cab driver about getting back and he said to just flag down a cab in the park or to call. She the ceremony, we called Charlie's and I was told it was policy to not go to parks after dark. This is unconscionable two strand a newlywed couple in the park and force them start walking out of the park. Fortunately after we only go on a block or so we found a cab from another company and we got back to the hotel. Truly disgraceful what this company did to my wife and I. read more

Any other service prior to today with Charleys was great, but when they're now an hour late and only send one instead of two taxis on the most important travel day I've had in years; when I have to get the dogs and all of our stuff to the airport. I've had this appointment scheduled for 4 days and confirmed via phone the night prior (no more than 8 hours before the actual pickup) and it was still a disaster. I'm still sitting here waiting for a second taxi. Only my wife, one of two dogs, and half of our bags are on the way to the airport. read more

Probably the most horrific and frightening cab ride I've ever taken ... from the Hilton Hawaiian Village to Aloha Stadium for a concert. Ride started OK although communication language barriers were there. Then the challenges kicked in when traffic was encountered and the driver started moving in and out of lanes cutting off other vehicles being honked at cursed at and in general driving in a very aggressive manner. Things got more interesting when the driver decided to take the left turn lane at a major intersection and accelerate through straight and cut back in as the light went green ... thought I'd seen everything but as we arrived near the stadium he got boxed into the left lane on a three lane street with a lot of traffic about 500 yards from the entrance... all of the sudden he popped the doors open on the van and said "you go now" and pointed across the three lanes ... I tossed the $60 fare on the console and left. Just a heads up this cab or maybe the entire company does not accept anything other than cash ... no credit or debit cards accepted... Our suggestion... don't risk your lives TAKE AN UBER! read more

Was in Hawaii for a few days for a business trip and needed a cab that takes credit cards and found a winner. Had a very early flight out of Honolulu (Sunday morning no less) and reserved Charley's cab by phone the day before. They took my name and the time/date needed and recorded my phone # by caller id. Came down 10 minutes before my departure time and Charley's taxi was there!! Great courtesy, seats are covered in plastic and clean. Comfortable drive to the airport and very affordable - In fact about 10-15 dollars cheaper than those stinky cash only minivans. I am hooked. Thanks Charley's. read more

Showed up as expected. Driver (Thien) pushed buttons on the computer and was not interested in small talk. Wrote on his clipboard while driving while propped on his steering wheel. Proceeded to put in ear buds. I thought he was listening to his special music. Noticed him looking down a lot. Leaned over to look myself and saw him WATCHING A VIDEO with his cell phone in his crotch WHILE DRIVING. Asked him to please focus on driving but with the earbuds in he didn't hear me. Tapped on his shoulder and he put the phone away. Said someone sent him a (cooking) video about pineapple. He picked up speed weaving in and out of traffic. Once someone honked at his lack of courtesy. At one point he was driving 50 mph in a 35 zone. We arrived safely. Called Charley's and spoke to the head dispatcher. He apologized for our experience. This 5 star rating is for the super helpful operator Neelm (sorry not sure how to spell her name) but she was awesome! Super helpful and friendly. This taxi service is rude. I just got hung up on when I asked them their rate from Hilton Hawaiian village to Ko olina. His response was 112 dollars. I then asked him why the big difference of over 40 dollars compared to the 65 quoted to me from go 80 express. The Joker hung up on me. Never will I use this cab company, just off principle now. I wish I could give this company a better review. The flat rate from the airport was nice, the dispatch was fast, and I liked the driver. My problem is that after we were picked up at Honolulu airport on Feb. 15, 2015, our cab was involved in a traffic accident. It wasn't the fault of our driver, but we spent about an hour sitting in the taxi while the police completed their report. Considering that we only have a few days on the Island, the loss of a hour was a major inconvenience, and I was surprised that the Charley's offered nothing by way of compensation or apology. I called the main office at 808-531-1300, and asked the manager "Chad" if Charley's would provide some kind of compensation for our trouble. He said he needed to check with his boss, who would call me back the next day. Two days later, I still hadn't heard anything. I called again, restated my complaint to the 'agent', and was transferred for some reason to the dispatcher line where I was kept on hold for more than a minute. Since there was no point in speaking to a dispatcher anyway, I simply hung up at that point. Frustrating and stupid. read more

I had to walk the other side of Hilton Hawaiian Village with a 50-lb bag because Charley's pays Hilton to make Lyft and Uber riders get picked up behind the dumpsters at the edge of the resort. 1-star behavior always indicates 1-star service. I give them 1 star for not being good enough at the taxi business to get customers without screwing other drivers. I used Charley's one time years ago, the driver wanted $60 cash for a ride from Pali to Kailua town. I switched to Lyft and Uber, of course. read more

Since we didn't have a good experience with this other taxi service when we arrived in Honolulu, I told my hubby that we should try another company when we head back to the airport. Hubby agreed so he called a few taxi companies and Charley's was one of them. After leaving a voicemail to Charley's, hubby received a call back on the same day. We told them that we needed a ride to the airport a few days later. The price (fixed price) they charged were reasonable so we decided to schedule the ride through them. On the day of departure, the taxi arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled time. As soon as the driver saw my hubby hauling our luggages, he immediately came over to help. During our ride to the airport, we noticed that the driver had turned on his meter. By the time we got to the airport, the meter read over $40. We were confused and concerned about the cost. Hubby told the driver that we were told it was a flat fee so why did he turn on the meter? The driver told him that it is a flat fee but the company reimburses him for the remaining amount. Oh...what a relief! Hubby paid the driver and we left to check in. Overall, the driver was courteous but quiet. We got to the airport safe so that's what matters. read more

I was in a jam trying to pick up my car after surgery. The driver was prompt and very careful helping me in the car and not jostling me after I explained that I had soreness due to the surgery. He took the most direct route to the hospital and the fair was reasonable considering that I live in Hawaii Kai. I would definitely call them again! read more

The flat rate from airport is misleading. My daughter and her boyfriend took cab from airport, had no bags, and were going to Ilikai which is one of the closest hotels to airport. The driver asked for $35, they said what about the flat rate and she told them yes it is $29 flat rate plus tax so you owe me $35. I would recommend just hopping in any cab at airport as the meter rate was $35 so there was no savings and you don't have to wait around for a Charley's taxi. read more

One of the worst Taxi experiences I have ever had in my life. Not only did they quote me saying that they would take 20 minutes to even get a taxi, the taxi driver got lost and added on an additional 20 minutes. I was extremely late to work and got docked in pay all because of the terrible service and timing of Charley's taxi. I had to call a different company just to get to work at all. Perfect! $29+ tax and tip between airport and Waikiki for a van! Regular taxi meter rate is $35+ tax and tip and that's without traffic. Called dispatch from baggage claim and within 12 min taxi van arrived. This is also cheaper than Uber XL. Driver was excellent, friendly and helpful. Will use again! read more

I am trying to get my kids to the airport, I don't need to lug my car seats because we are renting them at destination, you guys HAVE the car seats, yet you WONT accommodate me because I'm a local. Don't use the airport customer service stand. There is a very rude lady who stands at international arrivals and she yelled at people. There were people unknowingly standing near her, and she yells at them to "move!" and "don't block my sign!". Her tone is the worst and there is no aloha in her attitude. I was there waiting awhile and saw this negative interaction on more than one occasion. I will never use Charley's Taxi based off of this employee's attitude and treatment of people. read more

Love those flat rates. All their drivers are dressed professionally and usually have nice clean cars that don't reek of cigarette smoke. Also very friendly and helpful with luggage and they don't drive recklessly. Highly recommend! read more
