We needed so much transportation while on the island of Oahu we should have rented a car, but we like rum too much, so driving ourselves is never a good idea. Luckily, we were able to use Charley's Taxi. Loved the flat rate service between HNL and Aulani (4 trips total for our group), between Aulani and Costco ($10! = awesome), and Aulani and Aloha Stadium. Would have loved to have a limo drive us all over the place, but using Charley's instead meant more money for rum. Cars were clean (maybe a little too clean smelling, like carpet fresh) and drivers were really nice. On our Costco jaunt, they even helped load and unload the groceries. Good idea to reserve your vehicle upon arrival at HNL but after that, we just called when we needed them, or they were readily available at Aulani too. read more

DON'T DO IT!! I called for Medicab service ($5 additional for door to door service).. recommended my Adult Day Care program. Pick up the 1st time was fine however the next morning they were a NO SHOW. I spoke to 2 ppl to make arrangements.. down to the exact fare + gratuity and no one came to pick up. 6 days later.. I booked Medicab service via their app where I have an account. I was very specific in the notes with who is being picked up, pick up location with phone #, drop off address with phone # for person meeting them and a request for confirmation via email or txt. I received the email confirmation and assumed all was fine. WRONG.... I am called to say driver running late, then the driver doesn't know where to pick up. The wheelchair was left at DayCare which meant returning to the DayCare to get the wheelchair. The straw that breaks the camel's back is that they will not release the rider until payment is made. Now.. one would ask themselves.. why would payment be needed at that time if my credit card information is in registered in my account profile? Upon calling to voice my frustration, the "manager" apparently needs to take customer service training as he proceeds to tell me that I do not understand their Medicab program which I assured him that I expressed what service was needed and the DayCare program advised me of this service. But apparently we are all wrong and this "manager" is correct! He also advised me that the app which has my credit card information does not charge the card on file. He continued to repeat that my card was NOT charged and I tried to explain that this was the problem!! If I provide the information... why isn't it be used? He also advised that if I had a problem on the prior days, why didn't I call to complain. I enlightened him and told him that I did call and apparently thing haven't been remedied. He then advised that perhaps I wouldn't want to use their services. EXACTLY!!! If you want a reliable company.. I would NOT rely on Charlies!! read more

We were staying in Waikiki and had the service requested but when the driver showed up he said he could not take us to our destination because he had another booking. Totally get that but then said another would be 5 min behind. After 10 min I called the dispatcher and she said they didn't have anyone else. Don't like liars and dishonest service. read more

Worst service ever!!!! We used this evening (again) and our driver was a jerk. Used a few weeks ago for the airport. Same thing. Go with Uber. A much better service and the drivers are actually nice! The cab driver will pretend like he doesn't know where he's at and make incorrect turns to boost the fee up. I asked the cab driver how long he had been driving and he told me 7 YEARS! I figured that was more than enough time to figure out this tiny island. I was very unhappy and the cab ride was awkward after I had to use my own gps and tell the driver step by step directions. working in the hospitality for over 30 year you do know how to be of service to your guest, so having someone like "jerry"(call takers) here at charley's with a heavy chinese accent with absolutely no politeness of courtesy of customer service. i called to make a reservation for a guest, im assumed that he couldnt understand me or he was just too busy to help me. after repeating my self three times he just transferred me to another "call taker" with out advising me, service such like today leaves a bad taste for future opportnities. read more

Don't even waste your time with them. Seriously. We hired a driver to pick us up from the airport and drop us off at our car on base. First of all, we told him exactly where we were on the airport both in our original submission AND twice on the phone, but the driver failed to tell us that he could only pick us up in a certain area despite having several conversations with us and being told exactly where we were. Then he spent the whole cab ride berating us because we hadn't put our final destination as the EXACT unmarked parking lot where our car was parked and instead had put that we were headed to Pearl Harbor. THEN as we got closer he kept trying to convince us to go in the Hickam gate even though we kept telling him we didn't want to go that way because it takes longer. All in all it was an extremely frustrating and anxiety riddled encounter. Next time I'll just pay for airport parking because it's way better than the mess I ended up with. read more

Charlies is the only taxi company we use in Honolulu. Their cars are clean, the drivers are courteous and always prompt.

I am having a hard time on this one. I have a regular driver Mon-Fri that I call and he's just GREAT! No problem on that. BUT I had a funeral to attend on Sunday. I called for a pick up and that was no problem at all. I got picked up and dropped off. I let the driver know that I would need a ride back home. Now, that was the problem.... I called for a pick up. The gal was really polite and said "No problem". Now, they have your number when you call them. I have been calling them for ages, so they know that I am a "regular". I waited in the hot sun for over a half hour. I was ill, vomitted, people stopped, asked if I was alright, helped me to the side. It was quite a scene. I was embarrassed. I had to call back and asked where the cab was and all she said was, "We are still looking for a cab for you". So I asked if I needed to call another company and she said, "Yes"...no apology...and hung up. read more

Needed a van because of all our big bags. Reservation was easy and van was promised. Soo showed up early in a nice van (her own.... she's her own business and works for Charley's). Soo's van was clean and smelled fresh. Even tho Soo was early she was totally non-pushy. Very professional driver. We used Charley's Taxi service 4 times while in Oahu. Each driver was pleasant, courteous and a good driver. The minivans/towncar were well-kept. They were prompt and always called us right as they arrived. Had a bit of miscommunication with one driver LATE at night but we just kept looking for each other and he found me. Then he was very sorry for the mix up and apologized over and over again. I definitely recommend them for anyone traveling from HNL to Aulani at least. read more

Best Experience. Caught cab from my hotel in Honolulu for my second half of a Hawaiian vacation. Realized after boarding my plane I had lost my phone. Able to locate my phone with Find my IPhone . Realized it was in Honolulu and and I was now on Kauai. I called my hotel who put me in touch with Charlie's. The driver had turned in my phone. The staff was extremely helpful in getting my phone back to me. They sent my phone to me via USPS over night. I'm extremely grateful and a very happy customer. Later we called for a ride back but called 3 times and waited 45min before giving up and using TheCab instead! TheCab was fast, friendly and cost us the same amount. When we rented out condo this was the recommended taxi company because of his $30 airport flat rate (which is much cheaper then anywhere else). Our driver had a very large van that fit all of our bags and us perfectly with a ton of room left over. Our driver was very kind and told us a lot about the island as we were driving to our condo. He also shared a lot of places he thought we would enjoy. We will definitely recommend this company to others and continue to use them as long as we visit this island. read more

We used Charley's Taxi 4 times while in Honolulu. The first was from HNL to our hotel. We called for pick-up when we got to baggage as we were told. There was a delay in getting our bags because the original carousel broke down so they had to send our baggage to another carousel. The driver call us twice asking where we were and we explained both times about the baggage delay. When we finally got our bags and found our taxi it was apparent our driver was not pleased with our delay.. The ride from the airport to our hotel was a bit hairy. Speeding, hard braking and cutting people off was crazy. The driver did not answer any questions we asked. The van was clean and comfortable. Our second ride with Charley's was from our hotel to the another hotel for dinner. This driver was a little friendlier. He was a bit hard on the braking. When we arrived at the hotel he insisted we pay in cash. None of us had enough cash on hand so he accepted the credit card for payment. Again the van was comfortable and clean. Our third ride was from dinner back to our hotel. The driver was friendly and his driving was great (no speeding or hard braking.). The van was clean and comfortable. Our fourth and final ride with Charley's was taking us to the airport. This driver was friendly and spoke the most. He got us to the airport in a timely manner without speeding, hard braking or cutting others off. The van was clean and comfortable. I do not fault the drivers for not talking( i.e. small talk). I understand their job is to get us from point A to point B. However, if a customer has a question the driver could/should answer or tell the customer they do not have an answer. We will use Charley's again when we return to Honolulu. read more

First trip to Honolulu. We read the reviews online and decided to book Charley's. Simply go on-line and book or call them. When you arrive at the airport, go to a pay-phone and call the Charley's number. The phone representative will tell you where to wait. Our vehicle arrived in 4 minutes and transferred us from the airport to Waikiki for a flat free of $29. If your from Australia, this service is the equivalent to a VHA or Hire Car. Outstanding value for money. We used Charley's just about everywhere we went. Each time we booked the car arrived five minutes early. Each time I called without a reservation, car arrived in five minutes for non-peak and maximum of ten minutes for peak time. The service was consistent, the vehicles clean & reasonably new, the drivers well mannered and fairly priced. There is absolutely no reason to use a shuttle. Will use them again and high recommend Charley taxi. read more

On thanksgiving night I called for a taxi , a nice lady lent me her phone and told me to call Charleys, so when I called Charleys I was kindly greeted by a helpful associate, this review was deleted once, so I will not put her name. However, I want to let her know that she has excellent customer service, and I will call when I need to depart from my hotel. Hopefully I get the same sweet person as before. It might not be fair to leave a negative review based on one driver but I had a Charley's Taxi cab block other vehicles from driving on Cleghorn Street in front of Waikiki Skytower on January 18, 5:20pm. He could have easily driven his cab a few feet down the street and pulled over to the side so that other vehicles could pass but he decided to park his cab half way on the curb and half way on the street. He of course took his time dropping off his passengers, went back into his Toyota Sienna cab to make change, then proceeded to slowly unload their luggage. In the mean time, the sixth and seventh car became stuck behind him because he could not pull over to the side away from vehicular traffic. Cleghorn is a one lane street, have some manners. How is it okay to trap cars just because you did not feel like driving a few feet down the street? If Charley's hires drivers with that little respect for others, I am definitely never riding with them in the future. Uber anyone? read more

I have used them twice. One time was ok, but because of what happened the second time, I would NEVER use them again. Called and asked them if they would take credit card(because I didn't have cash on me). Guy told me it was fine. Once I got to my destination I handed him my credit card. He gave me nasty look and said in broken English(he was Chinese as his name stated on his id posted): You no have $20?! me:no, I asked dispatch and they told me I could pay with credit card him: giving me another nasty look, then starting to search for credit card machine, while muttering stuff in Chinese which I am sure weren't complimentary to me. He then rips off credit card out of my hand and about to swipe it. At that moment I realized that while we were sitting there for another few minutes, he left the meter running which added another dollar to the bill. I politely(I wasn't rude) pointed to him that my actual fare was 20, not 21 dollars because he didn't turn the meter off. You would have thought I insulted his honor because he started yelling: "you want dollar?! Fine, I give you dollar" while interjecting Chinese in between. Do not know what he was saying but I am pretty sure it was something involved a goat and his mother. He finally shoves a receipt at me, waives his hands and yells "go!" like I committed some criminal offense and he is letting me off the hook. I called him a name that starst with an "A" and ends with an "E" and left. I used several cab companies since but never had a repeat of that experience. Never again. read more

I haven't taken Charlie's taxi in awhile, but yesterday I saw one of their drivers (GG-235 I think) blatantly toss their cigarette butt out of the window on dole street while waiting to get on to the freeway. If you allow your employees to illegally litter in a place so close to the ocean I would hate to know what other environmentally unsound things you do. read more

WORST TAXI SERVICE I'VE EVER USED. The ride was fine but when I tried paying with my debit card (that I knew had plenty of money in my account) it was rejected. I asked the driver if they could try again to see if it would go through. He said that it must be the card because the machine was working for other people's cards and then he proceeded to pull out and show me receipts from previous customers. I did not have any cash on me. When he realized that I wasn't going to be able to pay he started screaming at me to "get out" and repeatedly yelled "fuck" at me when I was walking to my apartment building.
