We walked in this place and seen a few people sitting down waiting for their orders. There was no staff in sight to greet customers or to assist with any ordering questions/concerns. There was a self using kiosk that was not easy to understand or make exemptions. We did not smell any aroma of food in the air. It was really a weird and different feel of a typical restaurant. This is the first time I have given such a poor rating. I went to pick up an order as per usual. The lady told me that it would be a few minutes, that it was coming up. I asked to use the bathroom as per usual & to my surprise and great dismay, she told me NO. Only "Dine In" customers are allowed to use the bathroom! I told her that was a first. No restaurant has ever told me that in over 9 years of delivery including them. It took well over 15 minutes. When the cook brought it out I told him that the 15 minutes cost me $5, AND they wouldn't let me use the bathroom!!! He LAUGHED . I will never spend a dime there. The owner did a wonderful job catering for my group at ASU. The students particularly loved the flavorful fried chicken and catfish nuggets. Absolutely a must try! This is a hole in the wall the location is hard to get to but the food is so DELICIOUS!! It seems this location handles a lot of to-go orders but their dining room is very nice and comfortable. The vibe pulls everything together and those chairs are SOO comfy! One of the best hidden gems in the valley. I was raised on Southern food in Louisiana and this is the closest I've had in the Valley. The fried chicken is great as is their catfish. The absolute best greens I've had. Buttered mash potatoes, and red beans and rice to die for. Very nice dinning area and great fast take out. I went to Charlie Mae's today and it was interesting. I placed my order with the Kiosk. I waited about 40 minutes for my food to be done. If you're looking for good customer service, don't come here. It's pretty much non-existent. The food, however, makes up for it(some). Since I am from out of town, I wanted to try as much as I could. I had the Catfish, Yams, Potato Salad, Green Beans, Cabbage, Corn Bread & Peach Cobbler. The Cabbage had entirely too much pepper and the Yams tasted like regular sweet potato that wasn't fully cooked. The Catfish, Peach Cobbler, Green Beans & Corn Bread was absolutely delicious!!!!!! It was so good. It is pretty pricey for the portions that you get. The Potato Salad tasted like it was from the store(Amish Potato Salad). Will I return? Yes I will! I give this place three stars and with some slight adjustments, I believe it can get much better. They did not taste frozen. Overall 7/10 2. Catfish nuggets; hearty chunks of catfish that were perfectly cooked with a nice crispy breading. The only downfall was the breading was too salty for my liking. With how perfect these were fried, I wish they went lighter on the salt, less is more especially when the quality is there. 8/10 3. Ribs; meaty ribs that were cooked wonderfully. They were seasoned and cooked just right with a nice glaze of bbq sauce. 9/10 4. Sides; - Red beans and rice, too runny and very salty. Beans were cooked good but I could not get over the sodium level. 6/10 - Corn Bread, great flavor, nice touch of sweetness, cooked perfectly. Could use a couple more pieces of corn in each serving but nonetheless, I enjoyed it. 9/10 - Collard Greens; cooked well, just too salty. Could not finish 6/10 - Fried Okra; delicious, not chewy, good crunch 9/10 - Baked Beans; these were very interesting. Tons of flavor that included nutmeg, brown sugar, onions, and bacon. I really enjoyed them. I would prefer them slightly less runny but they were great either way. 9/10 - Seasoned Fries; delicious with the right portion of seasoning 9/10 - Mac N Cheese; I'm sad to say it was disappointing. I expected baked macaroni with some type of 3-5 cheese blend but did not receive either. Seemed like it was made with velveeta cheese only. It's more like a kids Mac n cheese that you'll receive at a basic restaurant. I ate here yesterday with some coworkers and we were overall pleased with our meals. Three of us got the brisket sandwich, which is served on a bun with pickles, onions and a drizzle of BBQ sauce. Next time I would probably ask for extra sauce. I also ordered a peach lemonade, it was SO huge, and very tasty.
