I LOVE this location! A coworker took me for a Belated Birthday lunch, as she knows this is one of my fave spots. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes and tried the Hush Puppies....soooo good. If you didn't know, everything is cooked fresh when ordered. The chicken is always cooked perfectly...crisp on the outside and juicy on then inside. Needed a quick bite after my flight at around 2:00ish. Ordered online and walked from the hotel- the online thing said it would be about 15 minutes but I ended up waiting about 20-25 minutes. I had asked for utensils, but they weren't included so eating the Mac and cheese was a bit hard since my hotel didn't have silverware easily accessible. I got the chicken sandwich combo which came out to a little over $15. It was a large sandwich but very small mac and cheese side. The chicken was alright but I wish there was more flavor and it was less stringy. Wasn't impressed and wouldn't try the sandwich again- but possibly a different menu item? After going to another competitor for a long time they increased their prices by 30% and the flavor taste disappeared I decided to find another source to satisfy my Fried chicken cravings! Outing before the game with friends at Gus's. I ordered the catfish special that came with coleslaw and fries. Catfish was spicy and cooked right, had a great taste. Fries were good but coleslaw was just okay. Also ordered fried green tomatoes, they forgot about them. When we ate them was not that great like other location tried. It's been awhile since I have been to a place where I loved everything on my plate. But this is definitely one of them! While waiting, I noticed all the servers being very attentive and friendly, checking in with their tables. The chicken was just enough spicy. I did the two piece dark plate. Came with a thigh and a leg. For a 50 cent fee, I upgraded my sides to macaroni and cheese and greens. Loved the texture and crunch of the chicken, but the chicken was salty. The greens would have been better with meat in them (when I ordered, I was told they had bacon bits in them. But the scoop I received did not have any meat in them). The sweet tea was delicious. I wanted to try the fried okra because of not many places here serve it. But I knew I wouldn't have wrong. There was one waitress taking orders and she was a bit busy, but another worker came over and asked if he could start us off and get us drinks and an appetizer. We ended up placing our whole order with him because he was so friendly! He even suggested some appetizers and we chose the hush puppies. They came out right away and were hot, fresh, and flavorful! We both had the fried chicken with sides as well. The chicken has a very nice crunchy crust and the chicken has a spice in it. The chicken was hot, juicy, and fresh when it was delivered to our table. We both enjoyed it very much. The sides included beans, Cole slaw and greens. The beans had a very good flavor and the coleslaw tasted fresh and had a good flavor. The greens were just OK, but we have a family member that does an awesome job with his greens, so no offense. But service was quick, courteous and the waitress checked on us frequently to make sure we enjoyed our food. Melaisia was sweet, friendly, outgoing, welcoming, and very helpful! She made some recommendations and also told me the spice levels of their chicken. She also noted that if I have a peanut allergy, their chicken is fried in peanut oil. Ala Cart - Thigh: Served fresh, never frozen, natural, hormone-free chicken, and fried everything in peanut oil (4/5). Nicely fried to a golden brown. Crispy and seasoned well with a kick. Unfortunately, they can not change the spice level. Per Melaisia, "If you can handle spice, it's a level 2. If you can't handle it, it's a level 5. It's not too bad." Collard Greens: Contains pork (3/5). Cooked well and had a slight kick in spice. Overall, it's "World Famous". I'd come back again. read more

Whenever we visit a town with a Gus we have to eat there. The thing i love about gus besides their chicken is their amazing customer service. It does not matter what location in whatever town your in they have the friendliest and attentive staff. We have been to 6 different locations in 4 different cities and are yet to be disappointed with their food. The fried green tomatoes are a must. They come out hot and fresh and cooked just right. The chicken is so delicious. It's perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. The chicken has a nice crispy outside and juicy inside.
