I've been going to Johnny's for over a year now for Johnny Looch (DJ) and clubbing, but had never eaten there before last night. I had my chance for a birthday celebration that we had made dinner reservations for the week before. DINNER WAS PHENOMENAL!!! We each got a different dish, and each and every one was delicious and devoured (some wusses couldn't finish theirs, lol)! I'll just review mine, but please look at the menu. Everything is made fresh (including desserts) by the cook and baker, JOHNNY. Whaaaat?! (He stopped by our table and we chatted - super nice guy and my God the talent in those Italian hands)! My Chicken Piccata was really, really good - tender, and not too many capers; with just the right amount of "sauce." It came with two spears of asparaus, that were very good as well. When I tell you that I cleaned my plate, I cleaned my plate! Some ordered desserts and they were all exceptional! I'm usually "Team Chocolate," but was in the mood for cheesecake. DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN, was it other world yummy! (No BS Cheesecake Factory here!). Creamy, yet dense, and it was a really nice portion! Our server, Nick, was great and attentive - a genuine guy too, which is always appreciated. Our sweet men tipped him very well! He made sure that the "birthday boy" had a candle in his slice of blueberry pie. Another delicious dessert - wow! Between the food, LOOCH, the modern decor (beautiful white circular leather seated booths for the most part) and the atmosphere itself, you can't miss here! Johnny's is classy, delicious and fun. What an amazing atmosphere inside Johnny's. Beautiful set tables and excellent staff. We stopped in for breakfast and had an enjoyable meal. Eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast for me; steak and eggs for my husband, which he said was very tasty. Food was very good, everything arrived hot on our plates. Our waitress was very attentive. Cost was reasonable considering we were down the shore. Ambiance was wonderful, even though we were there for breakfast. I can imagine lunch and dinner time, it would be as well. Menu was very detailed and expansive enough for anyone dining there. Pricing was acceptable, considering one is at a shore location. Definitely will hit up Johnny's for lunch or dinner next time we are in Margate. read more

What a fun happy hour! We came ready to try everything on menu Chad was a helpful and friendly waiter and he filled our four top with all the delicious sounding apps. The winners were the chili Thai Brussels, and the mussels in a spicy red sauce . The potions are huge and we over ordered! The drinks were generous pours of various martinis with Stoli vodka . This was, without question, one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. I ordered the eggs Benedict, and the Canadian bacon was practically raw while the hollandaise sauce was still frozen. My wife ordered a tuna melt, but the bread was so hard it could barely be cut with a knife. Both meals were completely inedible. The manager's response was almost as awful as the food. She removed only one of the two meals from the bill, offered no apology, and when we raised the issue with the tuna melt, she simply gave us a nasty look. The complete lack of concern, professionalism, or basic courtesy was astonishing. We will never return to Johnny's and would strongly advise anyone considering eating there to go elsewhere. Terrible food, disgraceful service, and management that clearly could not care less about its customers. read more

Simply AWFUL...Horrible service from "Theresa," who seemed to be in the weeds and acting like a deer in headlights. Place was busy but nothing out of the ordinary. We sat in an incredibly noisy dining room; the Din was extraordinary. After about 10 minutes, Theresa shows up and puts water and bread on the table. (Bottle seemed a bit dirty) leaves and doesn't come back for another 5-8 minutes, then asks if we would like drinks? Sure... now pay attention, we have been seated for more than 15 minutes and only now asked about beverages. Ok... It's busy...I guess. After another 10 minutes, some guy comes by and introduces himself as working with the disappearing Theresa. He asks whether we ordered drinks; why yes, yes we did. We are now approx. 25 minutes into this service, Rabbit Hole, and still no drinks. We tell this guy, can he take our food order? We give him our food order. 2-3 minutes later, now reappearing, Theresa stops by; we ask..where are our drinks? Disappearing Theresa then leaves, comes back in 5 minutes and says, "the bar must hate me because they never made our drinks." The whole table almost started laughing, like really? You forgot to put the order in, we all know this. Drinks come out, we are easily 35 minutes in...this Houdini of Johnny's is something else, blaming others on her team for her own failures. Appetizers come out. The Sauteed Squid was good, just wished the gravy would have been cooked down and thickened, as it was very watery. The Meatballs were decent. And the table had another appetizer which was forgettable. The Entrees were a disaster. Terrible food. The Gnocchi was a thick, Elmer's glue-like texture with an underseasoned, undersalted sauce. 100% Fail The Salmon would have been nice if it were served warm/hot. Tepid at best. The seared Tuna was fine... The Shrimp Scampi was disgusting. We were embarrassed to find HAIR in the food. And the hair was none of ours. We look for Houdini; no Theresa. We look for the "guy"; no guy. We try to get the attention of the multiple food runners; no food runner. We try to get the attention of the hostess...nope. Finally, the "guy" is in our area, and we flapped our arms like we were landing a 747 and got his attention. At this point, the entire table is done eating, and the plate of hair is still sitting (easily 10 minutes) uneaten at the edge of the table, and he asks, "How's the food?" Umm...mmm...buddy, take this plate of hair off of our table. He asks if they can make us another dish? NO...maybe 15 minutes ago when the table still had their plates to eat, but not now. Remove it from our Bill. I wasn't going to negotiate with a service that was absurdly MIA all evening. Nope, tonight was just BAD. read more

New Years Eve experience. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing due to poor service. We received our appetizers before our drinks, and our main food arrived before we were even given silverware or properly set up to eat. To make matters worse, cake was served without any utensils, requiring us to ask multiple times for basic items that should have been provided automatically. My son's order was also incorrect, which added to the frustration. When these issues were brought to management's attention, there was a lack of sympathy or accountability, which made the situation even more disheartening. The overall service felt disorganized and inattentive, and it took away from what should have been an enjoyable family outing. Sadly, this is not an experience we would choose to repeat. read more

Decided to stop in for happy hour at the bar. This was my first time visiting. The food was very good and reasonably priced from 3-6pm. Loved the complementary bread and peppers. The $12 lamb chops were delicious and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend loved the meatball salad. The meatball was very flavorful, moist and served with ricotta cheese. First time at Johnny's and the atmosphere was positive and interior nicely done. The bar was packed and a number of tables were full. Our server was friendly and on top of our needs. We started out with some drinks and the bartender did a great job making my French martini. We shared the crispy calamari which was cooked perfectly but could have used a little more seasoning. The lobster Mac and cheese had chucks of lobster but I felt it could have used my cheesy goodness. The best meal of the table was Jonny's veal. Thin sliced veal perfectly cooked with lump crab meat in a brown sauce. I didn't try the crab cakes but was told they were okay. The seabass was good but the risotto was cold. My pasta dish was good. Desserts were okay. The crème brûlée had lumps. The chocolate brownie had nuts which for some people are a plus but not for me. I was told the Cannoli was delicious. read more

The service is spot on as there are plenty of servers hustlin and bustlin. I particularly enjoy the lamb chops and wished that they would make the veal chop medium rare, but for some reason, they refuse to do that, although Ive been getting it that way at many places for years- with no ill effects, I might add. This place is a little confusing. The two-server model made the timing of ordering odd and it seemed like they were not communicating. Made it hard to assess the tip when the service was split. We were hoping for an upscale restaurant experience for a girls night but the noise level increased when the back area turned more into a night club bar with DJ that changed the vibe. My boyfriend and I went to Johnny's Cafe last night with no reservations. The hostess said it was no problem and we were seated about 15 minutes later. We were seated at a high top by the bar and greeted by our server Marco or Mark, I couldn't hear exactly what his name was. He took our drink order and that was the last we saw of him. We sat at our table for 30 minutes waiting for our drinks. Our server never stopped by acknowledging our existence or apologizing for the wait for our drinks. It's like we didn't exist! They only had one bartender working for the entire bar and the restaurant on a busy Saturday night. Makes no sense. Nina and the team put together the best bridal shower I could've asked for for my friend!! I sent her a few photos and told her neutral rustic style and she did it all herself from the photo backdrop to the centerpieces, cake, and table setting and seating chart. Planning via email and text was so easy. I was able to choose four menu items for brunch and each was delicious. We got the eggs Benedict, omelet, avocado toast, and turkey sandwich for a variety. For some reason our waiter was missing in action most of the meal until it came to paying. We were rushed out after being there for maybe 40 minutes. I've been to this restaurant a few times, and the food has always been very good. However, last night for dinner, we didn't have such a great experience. I ordered the pork belly which was more like a sliced piece of pork chop with balsamic glaze. I know pork belly because I eat Korean food at least three times a week. I also ordered the lamb chops without the Demi glaze sauce, and they came out with absolutely no flavor. I think they forgot to put salt and pepper on them. So this was my first time here despite living only 7 miles away. My friend invited me to YAY Maker Paint Night and I of course said YES! I was so excited when I got there because they had HAPPY HOUR until 7pm and HELLO, the paint night began at 7pm! WINNING ALREADY! We opted for the $10 specialty martinis and went with the Dirty Martinis with Bleu Cheese Olives of course....HOLY MOTHER MARY WE HAVE HIT THE JACKPOT! The bartender @Zach makes the BEST dirty martini in South Jersey and believe you me, I've had my fair share in SNJ and Philly (& you can check my YELP wrap sheet if need be). We will be back just for these fricking martinis!!!!! WHEW! There was also 1/2 price apps for the HH so we went with stuffed shrimp (AMAZING), sautéed calamari in red sauce and a chopped salad. Let's just say we were stuffed and happy when we painted so we will definitely be back (thanks to @zach) for another martini and to try out the rest of the menu. I've eaten here multiple times over the last three years. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. In season and off season. Inside or outside. Johnny's is always very good! Never had a bad meal here. The service can vary, but mostly is good, as they usually have college kids on break. Prices and portions are reasonable. The food is always fresh and tasty. This is one of my go tos when I can't get a reservation at a new place or my party can't make a decision. read more

I went to Johnny's Cafe with my lady friend, Tabatha, and our partners Marco and Eugene. We walked in and saw Four Hostesses. Now why does a restruant need that many young ladies there . We got the filets and they were all delicious, as well as the dessert. The Tiramisu melted my heart with how good it was. However, I will only give 4 stars for the 4 hostesses. The one with the red dress was really attracting my husband. I was very mad at her . I thought she was dressed for a brothel she had her belly button out.
