We used to frequent this restaurant multiple times a week for lunch. Over the years we have seen some of our favorite employees come and go but the quality of service and food has never changed. Almost a month ago, I visited to grab a quick lunch, when I noticed an employee come out to take his smoke break in front of the restaurant. I'm typically not a fan of this in general but figured this has been approved by management. I went inside to place my order, two other employees got my order started and then the employee that was on the smoke break returned. He didn't wash his hands, just used hand sanitizer - generously - but still... Then he proceeded to use his bare hands to make my sandwich. I sat trying to decide if I should just walk out or toss it in the trash. Luckily, he didn't honor my request for no lettuce and another had to be made by a different crew member. I'm doubtful we will be returning anytime soon. It's sad to see a regular favorite go downhill. read more

Good, service, and atmosphere was all AMAZING!! Pam was so helpful in leading us to the right decision for our lunch. She was friendly and made our meal that much more enjoyable. All the workers were so kind, especially Kareem who even talked to us about visiting in Lebanon and definitely sold us on buying some new tahineh sauce they've got in store. Everything tasted fresh, hot off the grill, and I will be coming back asap. They make you feel like family as soon as you walk in the door. Grabbed dinner here on a Monday night and expected it to be empty but it was packed and they had orders lined up which was a good sign. Gyros are fresh and delicious! Staff is friendly as well. Actually my favorite place to get a great Gyro! Definitely recommend trying them! That said, I wouldn't recommend the fries unless you watch them drop a fresh batch. In the past we witnessed a staff member re-fry fries. This is a huge no, no! I've been dining at this establishment on & off for over a decade. The food is good, but most of the time it's soooooooooooo garlicy that we can't even finish our meal. I mean, e v e r ything is garlicy. The dishes are classic & some creative, but if they would lay off the garlic, I think we'd enjoy the true spices they offer of their homemade goods. Most everything IS tasty, but overpowered in the end by too much garlic. The people here are so very nice, I feel bad leaving a 2 star review b/c I know they work very hard on their menu & maybe it's just my husband & me for whom it's too garlicky. My favorite mediterranean restaurant, hands down. They have the fries of my dream, thick and crispy with the amazing parmesan topping to add to your ketchup. I have had the hercules gyro every time I have gone. I love the gyro meat being in cubes and it is cooked perfectly. Will always recommend this restaurant to everyone! read more

Expect a warm welcome. I told them it was my first visit and they gave me a sample without me asking. The guy in line told me to get the special--Saturday is lamb. It was actually a lamb and beef seasoned mixture on a pita with sauce, lettuce and out of season (not very good) tomatoes. The lunch special served daily 11-3 includes drink and fries for $8.15 with tax. Instead of fries I opted for a different side--stuffed grape leaves. They were okay, inside rice a bit mushy. Iced tea was great--real brewed sweet, unsweetened and a fruit flavored choice are available. The cashier said desert was free for first time visitors. The baklava was 5 star. I visited this place the order day and so glad I didnt go to KFC lol the food was amazing. I tried the Spicy T Wrap as recommended by the chef on duty. It was out of this work. I noticed they had $9 lunch gyro specials with fries and a drink and I definitely will be returning for that. read more

I used to live close by but moved 30 miles away. Every time in town make it a point to stop getting a Shawarma. A few months back I had my first bad meal. falafel balls were over cooked and set the tone for the rest of the meal. When went in n today first visit back told the young women about it and she gave me free side pasta salad. Did not want anything free just wanted her to know about the bad experience. We are new to Wake Forest, however we've lived in the Triangle since 1989. We hit Yelp! and decided to try Charlie's. Wow! We loved everything - I had Charlie's Special platter (gyro meat, Greek side salad, Hummus, Tzatziki and pita, grape leaves, baba ghannouj, tabouli, and Lebanese rice. It was all delicious. My wife had the Mediterranean Salad, which is essentially a Greek salad with a chicken kabob. The meats were moist, nicely seasoned, and very tasty. I'm not usually a fan of tabouli, but Charlie's is excellent. There are many other choices. This was our first visit, but it won't be the last! Food is just ok and too expensive for what you get and how it is served. Got two gyros (chicken and regular). Chicken was tasty--regular gyro was average and drenched in too much sauce. Ordered an appetizer of tabouli (average) but it didn't come with pita. When I asked for some they said it was extra . Service was on Walmart type paper plates with plastic forks (self service). If you're looking for a nice place, with really good food served well and that's not located in a strip mall--this place isn't it. read more

The good part about Charlies Kabob grill, is the food is really tasty. I have not had anything there, that I did not enjoy. On the down side, I realize they are serving some pretty decent quality meats. Portion sizes are small, and $15-$20 dollars for a fast-food meal is not for me. Even though I love the food and live very close by, I wont eat here often due to the price vs. portion. One other good thing I noticed about Charlies Kabob Grill is, their fountain drinks are mixed awesome. I like it when they mix the drinks on the strong side! read more

Staff is ALWAYS incredibly nice/helpful, food is always fresh and the portion sizes are generous. I usually order on doordash during work and even then they always give plenty of food to leave me satisfied, unlike a lot of these other placed that skimp out on the food with online orders. Amazingly fresh food and the taste is on point. You can actually taste the roasted eggplant in the baba ghanouj, the lamb kebabs we're cooked to a perfect medium and the kafta was flavourful and moist. They have about 4 tables outside and plenty of seating indoor. Highly recommend for seat in or takeout dining. read more
