Build Your Own Bowl
Alex K.

Great food and a great value. The gentleman behind the counter was polite and generous with his scoops. The decor is pretty cheap but I don't think anyone should come here for a luxurious dining experience. Not my first time here and certainly won't be my last!

First time trying this place out and it was empty inside , so quick in and out for me. I decided to do a bowl and pick my toppings and etc. I chose rice and greens for my base. Chicken for my protein and 5 toppings to go along. The bowl also came with pita bread. I must say the bowl was pretty good and filling. Would try it out again

This restaurant was clean and spacious with multiple tables to dine in. I went to the counter to place my order for a bowl. There were several toppings available to add to my bowl. The server was patient and pleasant. I also got complimentary pita bread. The bread and soda were not good. The bread lacked flavor and didn't taste fresh and the soda was flat. The cucumber and tomato combination topping tasted weird and not fresh. Although I didn't enjoy some of the toppings, I was provided with a nice portion size for my bowl.

The switch from Simple Greek to FRESKO Greek Kitchen has not brought about all good change to what I once considered a filling "go to" for a healthy and delicious Greek meal. The facade has changed, luckily the flavor of the food has not, but less costs much more and the starters here are now posing as the entrees! So, we do what we always do right? Stand in line, order the bowl, rice, chicken, lettuce, blah, blah, blah. Although this is not chipotle, we are expecting that endless supply of fresh ingredients we would always observe at a chipotle, right? Not the scraps at the bottom of the pan. The five green bean halves equate to a serving of green beans? This alone is hardly appealing and quite disappointing. Something is missing, the potato wedges they have provided in the past, apparently that favorite starch has been taken out of the equation, no longer offered. So here I sit with a half empty bowl. A bit disappointed I scarf down my snack and leave. Manage your expectations. Cheers!

Build Your Own Bowl with chicken and falafel

I really want to give this spot 4 or 5 stars but I couldn't justify doing so. The staff and customer service was great but I was not hyped up about the food. I opted for the BYO bowl with mixed greens and spinach rice, which both were good but I think the options for toppings were not as plentiful as other restaurants with the same vibe. I do like the fact you can choose two proteins. I just felt the topping options were all over the place. My daughter ordered the same and had the same thoughts. The spanakopita was delicious!! She ordered the Greek fries which were ok but the vinegar through it off a tad and would have been good if it came with a dipping sauce. They cook those fresh so the freshness was great! Overall it wasn't bad it's just wasn't what I was hoping for.

The Build Your Own Bowl option really lets you customize the meal you want.

So glad I tried this spot as I'll definitely be going back. Originally I'd planned on getting a pita, but after seeing the make your own bowl option I went with that. There are so many options! You can pick 1-2 proteins and I chose falafel and traditional gyro. As the base, I got brown rice and greens. The fun part was being able to add as many toppings as you wanted... pickled onions (delish), feta, garbanzo beans, banana peppers, garlic green beans, and kalamata olives. To top it off, there are several sauces to choose from. I picked tzatziki sauce, Greek dressing and spicy pepper (requested they go on the side so I could add how much I wanted). The pepper one was far too hot for me. Side note: I just realized they left my pita bread out. Next time I plan on trying the garlic Greek fries and maybe go wild in getting the baklava cheesecake. Their online ordering was super easy and you pick up to go orders from a shelf along the wall inside. In and out in no time. Great lunch spot (a few outdoor tables) or a dinner to go!

Bowl with Chicken Gyro

Love this place for a quick, healthy lunch. I always get a bowl. Sometimes these kind of make your own bowl places can be a bit confusing as to what you can select for your bowl without additional charges. Not so at Fresko Greek -- your options and how many you can choose are clearly listed on menu behind the counter and right on the glass you are looking through to pick your options. Ingredients are always fresh and delicious.

Very clean and the food is great! Chicken Gyros were stuffed to the gills! They have the things you think of when you think of Greek food! We found it just put wondering around! They have catering and have been open 5 years!

The customer service was great. The meat choices were juicy and savory. Great value for the money. If in the area stop by.

They prepared a tasty dinner of gyros and roasted chicken for us, a lot quicker at 5pm than I could have done it.

His service was greatly appreciated as all of us wanted to make it somewhere to watch The Canes game! He was efficient with opening the wine and getting our dinner orders in right away. Thank you Diondre for a great start to our evening. All of us raved over our food. Two of our friends had the Tomahawk Pork Chop featuring spinach, barrel-aged feta, herb aioli, and yummy Greek lemon potatoes. Both people agreed the kitchen team cooked them perfectly. One person absolutely loved his fire-roasted lamb chops that also had the delicious Greek lemon potatoes. Another one of our friends loved her Chicken penne Mykonos which we have ordered to-go many times. It looks even better in the restaurant as it has spinach, feta, mushrooms, tomatoes, white wine lemon cream sauce, and parmesan. This dish is a must try when you visit Taverna Agora in downtown Raleigh. Lastly, someone at the table exclaimed that their grilled salmon was one of the best salmon dishes he had ever enjoyed as its unique presentation features pickled beetroot, sautéed spinach, and a lemon caper sauce. I had the Poseidon Branzino which was fabulous. The dish had roasted branzino, medley of sautéed cherry tomatoes and onions, fresh herb rice, and skordalia (I had to look up what that is - a fascinating Greek garlic puree). The blending of all those flavors made for a scrumptious dinner, and thanks to the kitchen team for preparing it perfectly so that I could even eat the skin of the fish. We shared two bottles of Assyrtiko wine which is one of our favorite Greek wines after visiting Greece a few years ago. The wine list at Taverna is simple but thorough and fun to experiment with. Great job Taverna Team!

Walking in you'll feel like you've been transported to a village like, Greek atmosphere. To sit down you'll check in with the host and then be seated either inside or on the rooftop. We opted for the rooftop as it was a nice evening. To start I ordered the Baklava Old Fashioned (Bulleit bourbon, homemade baklava syrup, Angostura bitters, and Amarena cherries) which was amazing. Next we ordered the trio of all three spreads (Tzatziki, sun-dried tomato hummus, and spicy feta spread) and the calamari. Both dishes were excellent and I definitely prefer the spicy feta and tzatziki sauce. For my main course I ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop (Chargrilled tomahawk chop, spinach, barrel-aged feta, herb aioli, Greek lemon potatoes) which was a bit disappointing. I probably should have sent the pork chop back as it was cooked well done and was very dry but was I was too hungry and didn't want to make my parents wait. For dessert I ordered Baklava Cheesecake (New York-style cheesecake with nuts and baklava filling) which was very nice and my mom ordered the Limoncello cake (lemon cake with lemon cream frosting) which was definitely the star of the show. If I'm back downtown I may try Taverna Agora again but will definitely avoid ordering the pork chop.

So I do not say this lightly, Yemeni Cuisine Restaurant's Lamb Mandi is genuinely the best food I have EVER eaten. It is unlike anything I've tasted before. When they say it "falls off the bone" it FALLS off the bone. Don't be intimidated by the prices either. My dinner fed me twice and I never have leftovers. Everyone there was so pleasant, and you can tell it's really authentic. They also have a cardamom tea urn that is just phenomenal. If you go, get the Greek salad as your side. Their feta is silky smooth and absolutely delicious. Six stars if I could!

Great staff, but you do have to wave them down instead of them checking up on you. Saltah (Fahsa) w/ Meat: Was so excited for the supposed fenugreek cream topping, which I didn't see. The lamb itself was tasty tho and came out smoking hot. Less spicy than Indian cuisine. 8.5/10 Chicken Mandi: Lacked flavor and wetness. We asked for spicy sauce, which was a spiceless onion-tomato blend that didn't pair well with the Mandi at all. The chicken did fall off the bone tho, so bonus points for that. Shown is a full $30 portion, which is too expensive. 5/10 Soup (Lamb): Yum, too salty for my dad. 8/10

We ordered the grape leaves, baklava, namoora and tabbouli. I am Lebanese and these are staples in our home. The grape leaves were extremely dry and tough. The rice was very undercooked and the leaves themselves were so dry and tough we could barely chew through them. We ordered 12 and thought maybe it was a fluke but all 12 were completely inedible and we threw them out immediately. The baklava was okay, nothing to write home about. Very simple syrup forward and you couldn't taste much else (we ordered the walnut). The namoora was stale. Very dry. Namoora should melt in your mouth with with a slight chew. This was again, tough and stale. We threw those out as well. Lastly, our favorite salad, tabbouli. The lemon taste was nonexistent. The parsley wasn't chopped fine as Tabbouli should be. It was a watery mess. Overall, we won't be back. We spent over $75 on 4 items and left feeling hungry and bamboozled. There are other Lebanese food spots to visit in the Raleigh area, I will stick to those. Please do better when representing Lebanese cuisine. 15 workers behind the counter can seem like you're doing something right but in the end, it all comes down to the freshness and authenticity of what you are claiming to serve.
