Hands down the best breakfast place in town. Large portion of Hash browns which are crispy outside and soft inside and just delicious. Sausage patties are wonderful. Husband shared some of his all meat omelette--to die for! No ketchup needed here! And the apple juice wasn't your small 6oz glass but about 16! We are never disappointed. read more

What a fantastic surprise finding Charlie's Main Street Cafe in Minot. I was in town for business and I had a little time for lunch. I felt like breakfast for lunch and Yelped "Breakfast" in Minot and up popped Charlie's as the top rated spot. So off I went. It is located in the beautiful old part of downtown Minot, all the buildings have been well maintained and parking was easy and Free! I walked into the restaurant and it was like walking into a time capsule of the 1950/60's. A wonderful old style cafe that was well kept and very clean. I was immediately greeted by a cheerful waiter and seated at the counter. I was brought a glass of water and the menu as soon as I sat down. I had the veggie omelet, hash browns and French toast. It was excellent. The staff seemed to be seasoned pro's (what a rarity these days) and were very friendly and accommodating. The walls were adorn with vintage pictures of old Minot which also sent you back to a time long ago. What a great dining experience I had at Charlie's Main Street Cafe. The food was so horrible the bacon was burned the sausage patties we're so dry they tasted like beef jerky. They didn't even try to replace the sausage or bacon I would never eat there again and I would never recommend it to anyone just look at the pictures it'll tell you everything. Diner food, big breakfasts and familiar comfort dishes. Have eaten here maybe 10 times now. The homemade soups are just fantastic! Service is good if you get the owners, otherwise its hit or miss. Very fast service either way and I enjoy the basic menu you would expect in any diner type restaurant. Old school crinkle cut fat fries are a must here. Coming from all the way from Denver. I found this little gem in Minot, ND through Yelp. Once I step into the door, I had felt very welcoming. The staff was super nice and fast to greet. The atmosphere had great lighting to brighting up any mood, and the environment was very clean. This diner was one of the top cleanest diners I had ever been too. The lunch I had ordered was the Hot Beef sandwich. It was advertised very well throughout the restaurant. Everywhere you look bam! The hot beef sandwich's advertisement was on the door, on the menu, above the bar, and I can smell it! Well damn, now I have to try this hot beef sandwich. When the ordered had placed, it came out fast and hot to my table! Oh boy it was delicious! Before you know it, I was done with my lunch and I was on my way to the airport. Since when don't fries automatically come with a burger? They were cold, undercooked and disgusting. Those were mixed with some that were so old, they were inedible. The burger was terribly overcooked and dry, pretty tasteless. Won't spend my money there ever again. So basically, charged for two orders of fries and a burger...$18.00? Hell no. read more

What a great treat Charlie's Main St Cafe was on our weekend trip away! We tried their strawberry rhubarb Küchen and each enjoyed an excellent breakfast. The food was hot and arrived quickly. I grew up at Charlie's. My parents were owners of the restaurant so I have been able see what happens behind the scenes. My father is a cook, whom I have helped in the kitchen before, so I know how much work goes into his homemade soups, gravy, and other sides, but they are fun to make. My mother is a waitress and a baker and on many occasions I have helped her bake. I love making her homemade pies because the crust on these pies are edible and look nice. People might say the prices are too high but they need to realize that the quality of the food compared to other places nearby is higher and the portions are large. I love eating there in my spare time. I even love helping out because everyone that works there is like family, even if we don't get along. If you have not tried the food I would recommend it. read more

Was very hesitant to eat at or try Charlie's Restaurant when I first saw their location and building. However being a person that is more concerned about the food I will be getting for my money than the atmosphere I decided to give the place a try..What a diamond in the ruff it turned out to be!! The food was fantastic!! Very flavorful and delicious! The waitresses are johnny on the spot and your wait to be seated and in receiving your food once ordered is amazingly quick.Clearly I have decided that Charlie's Restaurant is second to none in Minot for your eating pleasures. Their breakfast menu is outstanding!! The food portions are for the hungry man and the price definitely affordable..You won't walk away from eating at Charlie's still hungry. Guarantee you of that! Food is awesome and the customer service isn't far behind!. I would definitely recommend Charlie's restaurant to anyone who loves good food and is easy on the pocketbook...I now go there quite often to eat any meal of the day as I know that I won't be disappointed. I do recommend the Chicken Fried Steak for breakfast and the Hot Beef Sandwich with mashed potatoes or french fries with gravy. They both are to die for!! Enjoy!! read more
