The food is good, but the service is always lacking. I end up waiting forever for a salad or something because there aren't enough people working on orders that they've had in the queue for 45 mins. The phone is always busy so it's impossible to get a hold of anybody most of the time, and then when they answer the person is generally miserable. The employees always seem miserable too... I want to love this place, and I love their pizza, but the service and timeliness and organization of the restaurant is severely lacking. While they've raised their prices, their pizzas are solid (but not "gourmet"). Just a decent, non-pretentious, neighborhood pizza joint, in Claymont. (So, please don't get a big head and raise your prices even more. ;-) Our issue is that their employees can be a little rude and impatient - but the new guy who they've recently hired seems much nicer than the other guys. He puts us at ease when we order. (Remember, good, polite customer service can REALLY help a small business...that's something that "working-class" businesses always seem to forget, or not care about.) Their cheesesteaks and strombolis are decent, too. (But we think they may have changed their stromboli recipe recently - they don't taste as good as 1 year ago. Their cheese seemed "off". ) But we certainly recommend their sausage & mushroom pizza, because their pepperoni pizzas can get a little greasy. ( We recommend they get better quality pepperoni .) Been looking for good pizza in Wilmington and Charlies came highly recommended based on social media reviews. We ordered a white pizza, half pepperoni pizza, fries and a steak sandwich. I was a little disappointed in the pizzas. The white had decent flavor, but was a bit dry. The half pepperoni was decent, but it seemed the dough had too much sugar, and even the cheese had a bit too much sweetness. The sauce wasn't bad. The fries were good-crinkle cut. The steak sandwich had really good flavor, but for almost $10 I thought there would've been more meat. If it weren't for the hype I wouldn't have tried it, as it's a bit far from my house, but, it's still better than a lot of Delaware pizza. I had my rating set at three stars while writing, but the taste of the fries and steak made me change to four stars. read more

Have had this pizza twice, ordered and delivered to a buddy's hours right down the road. Style is big NY style slices on thin crust and big crust with flour on it. Thin sauce and cheese. I didn't get a chance either time to get a picture of the pizza but just imagine your standard pie. read more

The pizza is good, but not consistently good. When its good, you get that thin crust fresh oven pizza you ordered. When its bad, you get air bubbles throughout the pizza. Nobody likes air bubbles in their bread. Sadly, I've been getting the bad pizzas more frequently. Last time the air bubble was so bad it took two slices of my pizza and it was burnt in the middle. read more

Amazing pizza we love it here. The sauce is where all the magic and makes it different the all other pizza. The Hawaiian pizza with the add a bacon was so good, especially when you see the owner even in the shop working. Always go back I moved a little further and I still go back and buy my pizza there. I love that they have an incentive when you buy so much pizza they give you one. They have so many different and special types of Premium pizza. I tried Charlie's Pizza based on numerous rave reviews. I was less than enthused and once was enough for me. Charlie's has quite odd hours and I was told it can be difficult to get them on the phone, though when I called they picked up pretty quickly. I was underwhelmed when I got my pizza from Charlie's. We ordered a medium pepperoni pizza, (I'm not sure quite when we actually ordered, but it was probably Summer 2020). It was the greasiest pizza I've ever had. I had to use numerous paper towels to soak up the oil from the top for it to be edible, and I usually only need one (two for Grotto's - the greasiest I've had till now). That the pizza was hot and, well, --pizza--was the most I could say for it. Like sex, bad pizza is still, well, pizza. I'm a big believer in second chances. It's entirely possible Charlie's may have improved in the past two years, and maybe I got them on a bad day. But my experience with them was enough that I don't need to go back to try them again. read more

Okay, Charlie's Pizza, I'll bite. This was my second time ordering from them. They're a bit cursory on the phone but likely because they are busy churning out yummy pizza and answering the phone isn't that fun anyways. I found them on Yelp and their cheese pizza is delicious. Our friend who is a Claymonster claims it's the best Jersey-style pizza in Delaware. I'm not sure what that means but I'll take it and eat it. Their cheesesteaks are good too. read more

To be honest there food is amazing that's why they got a 4 Stars but I think your lucky enough to be able to get ahold of somebody on there phone. I called 10 times on 8/22 and got no response . Oh don't worry there hours are wrong to on google. They pretty much open and close whenever they please. The reason I know is because I work and live 5 min away from Charlie's and they don't even open till 2 . Some people may like an enormous amount of food slopped on a hard roll I'm not one of these people. Ordered. Mini tuna sub pretty big for a mini. Tuna salad bland. No flavor at all. I've given this spot my business 3 times prior to writing this review, and here's the simple truth. The pizza is good, but the service just doesn't hit the mark. The service alone makes me hesitant to go back. An order takes about an hour in total (on a Friday or Saturday night) but when your on the phone they say only about 20 minutes. I'd rather be told it takes an hour so I can plan my arrival accordingly. Two of the three times, they couldn't even find my order. On top of that, spoke rudely to me like I had made the error. Once they found the order, they did seem to be apologetic. I would go here in a pinch, and because the pizza is good I'm giving 3 stars. Well, the "killer" wings definitely live up to the name. I am a huge wing eater, and love to find the next spot with hot hot hot wings, and I found my new favorite. I asked for 20 wings, killer, extra sauce. I made it thru 10. They were stupid hot, in a good way. They had great flavor too, but when my eyes are tearing, nose is dripping, and mouth is burning, I know I've found the one. So if you're looking for hot wings, look no further, I promise you won't be disappointed. I also had a medium pizza with prosciutto, the flavor was excellent and I was very pleased with it too! I have been very disappointed with them recently. It says online that they close at 10pm and I call to place an order around 8pm and they say "we're done for tonight, no more orders." Best cheesesteaks in Delaware. This place is a I diamond in the rough and tucked away inside a strip mall. If you are looking for any amazing cheesesteak topped with American, look no further. They're made fresh, juicy, and tender. This places knows how to throw down on the grill. I am even solid on the pizza, good crust, sauce isn't chunky, and flawless execution. The mozzarella sticks did spend too much time in the fryer netting dark breading and some sticks without any cheese inside. The 5 stars is afforded to their staple foods.
