This is the upside down pizza. Mozzarella and provolone cheese, mhm.
    Allysa C.

I love Massimos and have been going there for years. Some people try to complain about the crust but the real ones know that's one of the main reasons you keep coming back. How annoying is it when you're eating a slice of pizza, get to the crust, and can't even eat it because it's so hard? Not at Massimos! The crust is perfectly soft and tasty. Even the leftovers will maintain that texture when reheated. Paired with the sweet sauce, this combo makes the pizza melt in your mouth. You'll finish every bite! (And that's not knocking the size, these pizzas are HUGE). The upside down style is bomb, the buffalo chicken with ranch is out of this world (I love ordering it with the red sauce because I just can't get enough of that sweet sauce). You bring this pizza to the party and your friends will be talking about it for a LOONNGG time. One critique? They're only open on the weekends. I need this all week baby!

    Cheesesteak, mushrooms, provolone.

Probably one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. Great flavor. The thin crust pizza is very close to the iconic "Manco & Manco" on the OC boardwalk. Oh the fries are classic. MP is a destination.

The plain slice. Bowling alley style.

Back in the day, we'd hang out at the bowling alley with friends to throw a few games and eat. The snack bar did the best they could and at the time, we thought it was great food. The pizza was mostly bread, the sauce tasted like it was out of a can and the cheese was nondescript. But for pre-teen kids, it was good enough. I thought about those days as I grabbed a slice and a soda at the only pizza spot in Booths Corner. I sat at the counter and waited for the waitress and I believe manager to finish discussing whether or not someone was working the next day. I don't know - call me old fashioned - but the customer at the counter should have been more important. Eventually the manager (owner?) came over and cleaned up the mess left behind by the last patron. I ordered a plain slice and a small soda. Price wise it was a steal as I think it was $2 a slice. There were at least 15-18 options I could have picked for a slice but when reviewing I always go old school. The small slice I got was hot on the bottom and warm at best inside. The tomato sauce was so-so. The slice was mostly bread with a little crisp to it. Cheese was ok. Not a great slice in my mind. Reminded me of the old bowling alley snack bar. The good news is that it's a typical Delco pizza and therefore, the average Delcoian doesn't seem too demanding based on the number of mediocre pizzerias that are around. And this restaurant is always busy. They do have a huge menu with choices other than pizza slices. Price wise they are very fair. I'll be back to try something else another time.

The walls are red with a black wainscoting paneling and framed pictures, sconces, and a small wine rack can be found on the red part of the wall. The ordering counter is also nearby and has a display case with pizza pies in it. We were immediately seated after arriving and ordered the following: Medium holiday veggie pizza, which has mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, ricotta, green peppers, and diced tomatoes. We didn't realize that the pizza didn't have red sauce but we still liked it. Hubs said that he needs to read the menu closer next time when ordering pizza. This wasn't the first time we accidentally got a no sauce pizza. LOL. Daughter and I shared Vongole, which is linguini tossed with 12-15 little neck clams with your choice of white or red sauce. She chose red sauce. We also got a choice of soup and she chose pasta fagioli. She liked the clams and said that the entree was nice and saucy. I prefer white clam sauce, though. So, I will try that next time. Fried calamari- calamari golden fried squid with side of homemade sauce. I liked that the calamari wasn't breaded. This is my favorite type of calamari. We should've ordered linguini on the side and this was Hubs' favorite dish of the night. The place filled up quickly after we arrived. Hubs had been wanting to try Italian food in Delaware. This place is located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. We were expecting it to be a fancy restaurant when we saw the exterior and were pleasantly surprised that it was a pizzeria. The place felt very homey and we loved it. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely return when in the area to try other items on the menu!

And the food was delicious! They filled up fast after 4.30, so I do recommend reservations. Last night my reservation were for 6.30 pm. They were PACKED, so we didn't get seated til 7. Even tho there was a table available on the lower level. No biggie, up top is better. 7.10 I asked for water, and to have my wine opened, which we eventually opened because we actually had a cork screw :) and we eventually got water, they were definitely run off their feet not equipped for the seatings they had. Ho hum. The acoustics when crowded make conversations difficult, and to hear the specials, ( which were the same as a week ago) I had to ask our lovely waitress to come closer. All of these things are not complaints, just info on my experiences. The entrees are incredible, great portions and HOT! The starters, were not so hot temp wise, two of the items ordered, Arancini and the famous crab bites. However, if you look at customer pics, menu pics, there are FIVE balls, we were served THREE! That was disappointing, let me add, even tho it's a BYOB, the menu price points are $$$! Which brings me to desert, yip we did the full monty ... my creme bruelee, ( A favorite) was teeny tiny, served in the tiniest of dish, not like the photos at all and way DRY and Stodgey and the pistachio Ricotta cake was a sliver not much thicker than my thumb. And EXPENSIVE $25 for both! My one guest asked for a scoop of ice-cream of Gelato, our server in this Italian restaurant said, sorry, we don't serve anything frozen. Hmmm look at the pics of the menu! Sadly I didn't ake pictures of the deserts, but take my word! I did take entree pics, but I only have the one to share without people in them. So I'll post that one. After all that, Do I recommend OA, Yes! So, if you go, please go with my review in mind, truth be told, order mindfully, and skip desert! The staff kicks you know what! Our mistake was eating at the bar. The bartender( is there such a word now?) didn't seem too be interested in waiting on us, after we had our water. Was busy talking to a couple exclusively, who decided it was their right to talk as loud as they wanted. Finely we tracked him down to order. To be fair, he was making drinks, for others. He did bring us our bread, as requested( he didn't ask). When meals came, by other servers, he didn't come back to see if we needed anything. I understand it is a bar, but, we have had other servers more attentive. My husband asked for pepper, after getting wrong one( black instead of red) , my husband doesn't always define his requests, tried to get the " bartenders" attention, to get the right pepper. Took several minutes, even though the bar wasn't that crowded. To make things worse, a 4- some came in, & sat next to our area, & proceeded to talk as loud as they wanted. I heard every discussion about their children. So my advice, get a table if you want to enjoy your meal. Oh one other thing. The music! All we heard was " thump, thump". Why do restaurants have to have music? We have been to some very nice restaurants that do have music, but low, & soft. My one irritation.
