I went here for my father's birthday dinner on friday evening and this place was excellent. We arrived and a guy was playing the piano as we walked in and we were seated...very nice. I ordered some clams casino and shrimp lejon as an appetizer. Both of which were amazing. This alone was excellent! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend both appeitzers. I ordered the broiled seafood platter, and my mom ordered the fried platter both of which were excellent. Broiled platter included a lobster tail, flounder, salmon another clam casino, a stuffed shrip, salmon, tilapia, cod. Fried had the same but just fried. My wife ordered the chicken Saltimbucca which was good, but not great. The dad ordered a flounder platter which looked amazing. All portions were quite large and good. I would recommend the clams casino and the seafood at this place the chicken dish was just ok but enjoy some seafood and you'll like it here. read more

Food was delicious and the chef made an extra effort to cook my dish gluten free! The escargot in pistachio butter was wonderful and the crab cakes fantastic. My meal was very good and there are a lot of choices for those who have to eat gluten free. The food and service were great, but the management needs to rethink their business practices. They offer a coupon in local publications and I presented the valid coupon to my server with my payment. The server returned to inform me that the manager (owner) was denying all coupons as the restaurant recovers from Covid-19. That thinking is the opposite of how he should be running the place. He should be happy to see customers returning, coupon or not. Far too many new venues opening to treat long time customers like this. read more

This is the place to go for AYCE crabs on Tuesday nights! Jody is absolutely amazing and gives impeccable service every time! We go so often that he has memorized our drinks and apps! He goes above and beyond to ensure the crabs keep coming and that our drinks are refilled. The Charlotte's Famous Crab Cake is hands down one of the meatiest crab cakes I've ever had! I have lived in the area for a long time and decided to give Charlotte's a try for Valentine's Day lunch with my wife. We mostly had seafood (tuna and halibut) and everything was fresh and cooked to absolute perfection. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was half decent. Steak was great but the other items like our Brussels sprouts, lobster bisque, and salad were too salty or oily.The more disappointing aspect of this restaurant was the service. Our waiter was funny and probably a good guy however some of his actions were shady. (If they make a mistake they will make up questionable excuses or just lie to your face) 1) I ordered an appetizer described as escargot and mushrooms in a sauce topped with a puff pastry on top. Yet when it came out they forgot to add the puff pastry. When I asked about their mistake the waiter claimed the puff pastry was really just a garnish and that we wouldn't have even eaten it. I think he said that to cover up for the mistake because who has puff pastry as a garnish and highlights it on the menu. 2)We said we were going to split a meal while ordering and he doesn't even mention that there is a sharing charge on the bottom of the menu. 3)He also charged us for complimentary salads for an extra three dollars. When we asked about the discrepancy on the salads he claimed he was actually doing us a favor. He tried to convince us he added the salad up charge because earlier he tried waving the sharing policy but his manager caught him. And instead of just giving us a heads up on the policy he was just gonna cover it up with the salads. Thought this was very kind of him at first but he actually lied to us. He told us the sharing charge was ten dollars. Checked the menu while leaving.... sharing charge is 5!! 4)He also charged us $28 for a steak when it was clearly priced as $22. read more

The past 2 times I have been to this restaurant the service was way under par. The food.. was pretty good. The last time I was at the restaurant was with a party of 8 for all you can eat crabs. It took almost 40 minutes to get our drinks and almost 1 hour to get food on the table. Food came out at all different times, from entrees to side salads. The service was horrible and the waitress had excuse after excuse as to why things kept going wrong. No one cleared the food off our table so someone at my table had to clear the table. Up charges and drinks that weren't ordered were on the bill and never taken off. Management was a disgrace. We heard yelling in the kitchen. And waitress and kitchen just blaming each other. We were told there was no manager on premises and finally after about 20 minutes "a manager" came to the table basically yelling and belittling us. Not a good night. read more

We held a memorial luncheon at the restaurant. Since we live in Florida, planning was long distance. Everyone, especially Jane, was extremely helpful in working out the details from setting up a slide show to planning the wonderful, extensive menu. The food was superb. Most guests chose the crab cakes and all said it was the best they ever had. My picky eater granddaughter finished everything. There was sufficient wait staff for the 55 guests so that no one was left waiting to be served. They were also attentive to beverage refills. I decided to take my wife to dinner here to have a special night out to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Over the years, we've eaten at Charlotte's about six times and have never been disappointed. But, the night of Jan. 13 was exceptional. Our server was Ellen and she was absolutely great! Very attentive and extremely helpful in helping us make our decisions on what to pick from a long list of very yummy appetizers and entrees. We ordered the crab imperial and Charlotte's crab cakes. Both were superb! That, and a bottle of Merlot made our anniversary celebration a night to remember. I wouldn't call the decor "dated" as some have stated. The proper word is "timeless." Charlotte's is a definite icon in the Delaware County area and is a place you can count on for delicious food at a fairly reasonable price. Typically, I enjoy my meals here. they have such a wide variety plus early birds. Tonight I ordered some steamed dumplings. Think someone dropped a box of salt. Kind of took away from the very good pork filling. A week earlier I had the Chicken Francaise, cooked well with a lemony sauce. However, the pasta was very overcooked and was almost inedible. The broccoli was undercooked and tasteless. It's hit or miss here. Mainly, it's a hit and I always come back. Im not the classiest of persons. I thought that Louboutins were a dog breed, veuve is part of the female anatomy, and would chide people who wrote about going to Parc that it was spelled P.A.R.K. Im am a person, who in elementary school created a playground game where the person who was "it" had to throw pebbles at everyone elses crotch....and that game was called, Frank A. Bonerstoner. So when it came time to propose to my then girlfriend, I was clueless. I have always been around women, and worked with many so I had alot of input on the place and method. At the time, I had a phobia about going into the city. I also had a phobia about spending money that I didnt have. I would spend days going into different places in the suburbs to find the right place.. Eventually, the ladies at work suggested Charlottes. It met all of my criteria: local, nicer than Fridays,and relatively cheap. My coworkers even chipped in and got me a gift certificate, on the condition that I tell them all the details on Monday. I was sold. I had been by this place many times and hadnt been in, at least I think. I may have a memory as a child of being dragged here and forced to eat something that didnt come with a free Star Wars drinking glass. For the first time in my life, I called the restraunt up and made reservations. I couldnt leave anything up to chance. The day came, and I was nervous as hell. We arrived at Charlottes, I told them who I was and we were told to wait at the bar. It was the first time that I realized that reservations dont necessarily mean you wont have to wait. I had asked for a specific table and the current guests werent keen on leaving anytime soon. It was a nice place with a very old fashined decor. There was a piano player who did requests and took tips. One of our first dates was when my wife asked me to go to a Neil Diamond concert. I had no desire to see Neil in concert, but I was so smitten with her that I "became" a Diamond fan suddenly (and to be honest, the concert was pretty darn good) I asked him to play , "Forever in Blue Jeans" because we both liked it and it summed up what I was getting her into. We were finally shown to our table, a corner booth. I had no experience with wine ordering. We both liked red and I ordered a bottle that wasnt too expensive. When the waiter brought the bottle and poured a little in my glass, I wasnt sure what to do. I guess I was to drink it, which I did and when the waiter waited for my response , I just said, " Its good." That was Frank A Bonerstoner talking. Later I was told that I was checking for tempature and not taste. Oh well. Im withholding the details of the proposal. She did say yes, but it wasnt a surprise for her as the engagement was all but planned. I have a few funny pictures taken by our waiter of a young wide-eyed couple who had no idea what they were getting into. I also remember, when the time came, being very self conscious because all the staff huddled in the corner and watched. Oh yeah, this is a review. This was 15 years ago, but weve been back a few times since. The food was good. I got some sort of rib and chicken meal and remember I liked it but the fries were too salty. Thats right fries...classy remember. I also really like their french onion soup. My wife got some kind of fish of the day that she enjoyed. The service has always been good. At the time, and maybe even now, this was my version of fine dining. There are many, especially ones who have been here, who would scoff at that, but to me I dont need any finer. I pass by here almost daily as we moved in only 5 minutes away. I dont go often but I still get warm feelings from the snippets of memories that hit me as I pass. To me, thats worth more than any trendy place in the city. read more

This restaurant really deserves a 0, but I had to give at least one star. Every single dish at my table of 7 had something wrong - 4 of which were sent back TWICE. We said something to the manager who essentially told us to go f*@/! ourselves. The only thing they got right was the bill - with no remorse or compensation for our terrible meal. We went to the restaurant tonight to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Three of us ordered the Tuesday night all you can eat snow crab and it was great. However, my husband ordered the other Tuesday night special of Rib Eye Steak. The picture below is what is advertised online. The ad clearly shows a bone-in rib-eye and it states 16ozs with salad, vegetable and choice of potato for $22. What he got was something that looked like a flat-iron Steak, very thin, no bone and definitely not 16oz. Also they said there is only a choice of one vegetable, no potato. After he pointed out the discrepancies in his order, one of the mgrs came out and started arguing with him that it doesn't say 16 oz on the actual menu (it doesn't give any weight). In addition, they charged him extra for the baked potato that he ordered. They took back the steak and weighed it at 14 oz. After we told them of the online ad and my husband told them he was formerly a chef and this was false advertising, she said repeatedly "you never made a mistake ever?" Needless to say they had words and it was very uncomfortable. Appalling! My husband gave them the steak back and they took it off the bill but still charged him for the salad, vegetable and baked potato. read more

Last evening I had "All You Can Eat Crab Legs" for $27.95 at Charlotte's Restaurant. I wouldn't recommend getting the Snow Crabs because they cook them too long to where they are mushy and too soft to crack. I did indeed enjoy the Dungeoness, they were delicious, lots of meat, sweet and not a chore to eat. You can have either kind of crab legs and jump back and forth if you want. They sure do give you a lot of food included in the "All You Can Eat Crab Legs" meal. I had bread and butter, blended oil dipping, marinated tomatoes, onions and peppers, a salad with creamy Italian dressing which was delicious, a complementary bowl of mussels red and fries with the crabs. The waitress was very sweet, we had the cutest old Italian man replenishing our bread and water and the owner came to my table letting me know my crabs would be out in a few minutes. I would definitely visit Charlotte's again for dinner! read more

Walking into this place you feel like you just time traveled back to 1980. The food has always been "meh", and I don't think the menu has changed at all in 20 years. I can't hate the place, though. You have to like old world dishes to enjoy this restaurant, but if you do the food is good. Service was very good and friendly. Snapper soup, which I love, was a little watery, but had good taste. The specials come with a lot of choices for sides so make sure you're hungry when you go there. The Roast Beef was seasoned well and was juicy. Not a lot of places serve this any longer. The crab speical was ok, could of used a little more crab, but outside of that the entire was good. Thier food tends to be on the heavy side, but nice people and a good spot. Dined here for the second time last night. This time we were using a gift certificate that was given to us for Christmas. To be honest, I don't know if I would have gone again without the gift certificate, but we had a decent experience. Having been there a few months ago for the first time, I knew that they have Chimay Blue beer on their menu. An odd selection for them, but this was the main reason for my return. First, the decor, atmosphere and ambiance are definitely old school. Think of your grandparents house from years ago. They have a guy playing the piano in the dining area. If you are taking out old relatives for dinner, they would probably like it. The gentleman playing the piano took a break to play the accordian to accompany the waiters singing Happy Birthday to a patron. On a Friday night we had no problem getting seats at the bar at 7:00. We took seats at the bar purposely to watch the Phillies game on their flat screen and have some Chimays. Although the menu advertised Chimay Blue, we were served Chimay Red. No big deal to me, I like both, but they are very different beers and it should have been OK'ed by the customer. When I asked the bartender about it, he was a bit stand-offish and said that they didn't have the blue. The beer is served in the proper Chimay chalice, but both the glass and the beer are served ice cold. Good for Miller Lite, not so good for Chimay. But if you just let it warm up a bit, all is good. Since we were told that we couldn't eat dinner at the bar, we requested that we be seated for dining in one of the three large booths in the bar area (wanted to watch the game). No problem. After about 30 minutes we were seated, with a great view of the TV. For appetizers I had the Shrimp Lejon. Four decent sized shrimp, very good. Boyfriend had Coconut Shrimp. Four decent sized shrimp, but lacking in flavor. Served with boring store bought orange marmalade. For entrees I tried to order one of the specials, the bronzino filet "oscar style". They were out of it, so I ordred the broiled scallops, Boyfriend ordered the filet mignon. The scallops were very good, about eight decent sized scallops. Boyfriend's filet was ordered rare. When the waiter asked how it was, and if it was cooked to his liking, Boyfriend asked the waiter how he thought it was cooked and showed him. The waiter responded "medium rare". He offered to take care of it, but Boyfriend didn't want me to have to eat alone. We passed on dessert, but they had about ten different offerings. By 9:00, the place was empty. As I said, this place is for old folks and 9:00 is LATE. For our $116 bill, we gave them our gift certificate, which was for $200. We ended up having to pay the tip in cash, but they did return to us a new gift certificate for $84. Looks like we will be back for more Chimay, but after the $84 , probably not. read more

We had the Shrimp Lejohn and Charlotte's Famous Crab Cakes, both were wonderful. Most of the entrees were between $23 to $29 so the restaurant is a bit on the expensive side. Definitely look for a coupon. read more

Went there for dinner with a friend. Service was great and friendly. We went all out and got everything. Started with the fried calimari with hot pepper. Delicious and the presentation was awesome. Also got their baked clams. Properly shucked clams but a lil big but still good. We both got the 14oz sirlion toppped with mushrooms and onions. Steak was cooked to perfection and properly seasoned and a nice sear on it. Got a side crab cake just try out. It was decent. Good flavor but you tell they used a cheaper crab meat. Last night was our first time at Charlotte's and it was a fabulous experience with regard to both the food and the hospitality. I called earlier in the week to ask if they had soft shell crabs. Although they weren't on the menu, the owner offered to call his seafood supplier and see if he could get them in. He took my number and called me back the next day to say he could get them if we wanted them. We made a reservation and weren't disappointed! The best way I can think to describe the restaurant is that it is stuck in a time warp, but in the best possible way. Everything about the setting and vibe made me feel like I was at one of my parents' or grandparents' favorite restaurants from the late 1970's/early 1980's. Just a great restaurant in every respect with a classic menu of all the best standard American dishes, charming piano player, great cocktails, and personal attention. worst experience ever, yes was packed house on Easter. Waited 40 minutes for salad and 1 hour 15 minutes for entre, after being placed. Overall was sitting for just over 3 hours. My entre was steak ordered med well received raw. Had salad dressing spilled on wife back dress. What a pleasant surprise ! Haven't been here in years but was able to get a Saturday night reservation . Everything was perfect from start to finish . The hot sampler appetizer took stuffed mushrooms , clams casino and shrimp lejon to a whole higher level. The steak and cake were cooked perfectly , so simple and delicious .
