5/7/26 - I always pass this taco truck all the time. I go to LaMayita all the time, so I wanted to try someplace new. I usually order tacos, but I felt like a burrito today. The burrito was piping hot and I thought it would be good too!!! When I got in the car I took a bite and it was not spicy like I asked and you could not see any sour cream or avocado sauce. I went back to get some salsa something to make it interesting and even the two salsas that they sold me (sign read 2x$1.00 salsas) didn't help. The burrito was already $15.00. Now I spent the extra $1.00 and my food taste no better!!!! I don't like dry food. All together I spent $18.00 with the canned soda. I will NEVER go back AGAIN!!! Monster Torta's is more like it! Every kind of combination you can imagine, or if you are extra creative, make your own! The onsite parking is limited and tight. Pro Tip: park next door :) I was a bit overwhelmed with the amazing choices. Milanese is on just about every house combination with choices from chorizo, ham, hot dog, bacon, breaded steak. I really liked the salsa bar, huge and chilled cold. My go to favorite is the picked red onions and habanero slices. I got the Al Pastor with everything they normally would add, avocado and sliced jalapeño. The meat amount was a lot, but did not strike me as super. New place on Hammer Lane and Thorton has the $1 tacos but they lie they say they run out of certain meats. They took orders of all meats if you order different things other than tacos. Plus my order came out to $19 and I gave them a $20 and never got my change back. read more

Feeling mixed emotions after my first visit to Charly's food truck. Let's get into it.. Ambiance - I went to the food truck located in Lathrop Food Truck Plaza, so I can't speak to the restaurant. Service - The lady who took my order was very nice. I wasn't sure what type of torta I should get since I'm new to the torta game, and she said their most popular choice was the Torta Cubana. So with that said, that's what I got. She said it would be 5 minutes and I went off to order some food for my wife and by the time I got back, my order was ready to go. Very smooth process! Food - This torta was massive. It came with ham, breaded steak, wieners (teehee), cheeses, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and avocado. It was A LOT. It was tasty, but it almost felt like too much. Too many things were fighting for my tastebud's attention. For the price you pay, you get a very good value. I paid $13 for a torta at my favorite taco truck and it was maybe half the size of this sucker. Because of all the toppings, it also made it hard to eat. The bottom bread was soggy because of the tomatoes and made it almost impossible to pick up and bite. It became a fork and knife operation. The tastes were all good, but it was those little things that prevented it from being truly great. I would think putting the tomatoes at the top would prevent that from happening in the future. Overall, I did enjoy my torta cubana and would definitely go back to Charly's again to try different options. If you want a great bang for your buck, the torta cubana is definitely for you! read more

Ok this is the 3rd time I've tried this place!!! Omg the torta sandwiches are the bomb!!! Service is always good and it's a small place so not much ambiance but it's good enough!! We were on the 99 and stopped at this little restaurant that was right off the fwy. Their menu is huge. We had a pambazo and the deliciosa torta. It was good. We asked that they add carne asada to the pambazo and they didn't, so it was just a bean and chorizo torta thing. It was good, but it needed some meat. The pambazo is a torta that has the bread dipped in a red sauce and then placed on the grill. The torta deliciosa had probably the better of the two since it had asada, ham, bacon. Next time I'm in the area I'll probably keep driving and find a different spot to try. I wish that these locations stopped using pine sol to clean. That's all I can smell in here. read more

I think I'm crazy or everyone else is haha. Most of the reviews are saying the tortas are great. I think they are just average nothing special. Big ass tortas that's for sure but I rather take quality over quantity. I took mine to go and pulled over on Filbert St to eat. That's like a 2min drive, by the time I took it out of the box the meat was mildly warm-almost cold. One employee walked out no greeting no smile looked miserable so EF him. The cashier I thought was a mannequin lol I wouldn't play poker with her. I got a friendlier vibe from some outside worker working on what looked like some flooring repairs. Maybe they are being held against their will and being forced to work there?? So we recently went to the Lathrop food truck spot with all types of vendors out there. We decided to try this place and ordered a couple of Tortas, since people to have liked it with a few exceptions. I got the Italian Torta, it was good. Not great, but it is a huge torta compared to other places so it's worth it, could have used a little more mayo though. My wife tried the Rusa Torta, it has the asada breaded, she loved it. Service was nice from the cashier, food was ready pretty quick too especially since it was a Friday. Do recommend, I'll add any updates if I try other assortment of tortas here. read more

Good is always good. The handmade corn tortilla chicken quesadilla is wow! Corn tortilla is handmade and is at least 12 inches and packed with ingredients. I sometimes think of trying another truck, but so far, this is it. But they probably could use another cook, it would double or triple their revenue. read more

This was a great find and a great value! Wilson Way has no shortage of taco trucks but Charly's focuses on Tortas. I ordered one for $11 and it was huge! I was full all day and I have a big appetite. The milanesa was on point and seemed freshly made. The ham and cheese were also generous portions and the onions, avocado, mayo, tomatoes, and jalapeños rounded everything out. Seriously, I can't tell you how many times I've driven past this place before trying it and I wish I tried it earlier. So good! I highly recommend. The staff were friendly too. read more

Came here today and got a torta cubana and a order of quesabirrias. For the torta cubana it definitely lacked on flavor and the meat itself was very dry i even confused it for a chicharron lol. As for the quesabirrias, it had a lot of fatty probably more fat then actual meat. It threw me off and I was not able to enjoy the food as the consomé also lacked on flavor. To be fair.. I have only had their Gordita and a sope. I have yet to try the Fortas! The place itself is fairly clean, the cashiers are pleasant and helpful... and the place is bright and has some fun decor. My Gordita was sooo good. They only make with chicharron which was fine by me. Just one is filling. The sole was more like a 3.5, decent but nothing super special in my book. The Gordita was the star. The chicharron was popping with flavor like the kind you would find in a well made pupusa. The Gordita was crunchy but not hard. Easy to bite into but I prefer cutting in half.
