I had a frightening and dangerous experience with the Crumbl Pearl City location…read more I ordered the Biscoff Thins cookie but received the Dubai Chocolate Double cookie instead. I have a tree nut allergy, and the Dubai cookie contains pistachio. After eating it, I had a serious allergic reaction and had to go to urgent care. I am still recovering from the physical effects. What made the situation even worse was the response afterward. A Crumbl online customer service associate initially told me that the cookie did not contain nuts, even though Crumbl's own allergen information identifies tree nuts. Emma, the Pearl City store manager, initially told me that she would speak with the staff. I was later offered a four-pack of cookies. A four-pack is not an appropriate response to giving a customer the wrong product, exposing them to a known allergen, causing a reaction that required urgent medical care, and then providing incorrect allergen information. I understand that customers with allergies must be careful, but I did not order the cookie that contained pistachio. I relied on Crumbl to give me the product I purchased. This was not a minor inconvenience. It was a serious food safety failure that could have had a much worse outcome. Crumbl corporate has said that the matter is being investigated, but their initial responses did not fully address the medical harm, ongoing symptoms, or seriousness of what happened. I am sharing this because customers with food allergies need to know how carefully they must check every item they receive from this location.

I just love how they bougie up our beloved mochi the classic treat that's not too sweet but does give you the freedom to enjoy it plain, stuffed or dusted with various coatings. Da Mochi Guys does that and more as I found them at Makana Mkt in Ka Makana Ali'i Sunday market from 11a-3p it's just so hard to resist peeking in to see the load they have made for the day with one table with the classic mochi stuffed with Oreo, cookie butter, brownie and kulolo while another table had the butter mochi OMG! Biscoff, Biko and OG that was it for me as I got the OG but noticed a jar of Dubai spread a jar that was a great way to turn any treat to Dubai yumminess which is so smart. The staff there was a trooper in the torrential rain pouring down as it got pretty intense at times but happy to support these great local small biz and share a bit of that happy vibe along the way. My hubby said that I have to make sure that all of the chairs are pushed against the dining table so Sadie cannot use them to climb onto the dining table. I responded that he should train HIS dog (have you ever say that? YOUR child, or YOUR grandchild?) to not go onto the table. Sadie hasn't done that before! My excitement turned to... they're ok. They're good. The walnut chocolate chip is better than the double chocolate walnut, which surprised me. Usually I liked that one better. Today it was too sweet. Maybe my taste buds changed. Either way they were good cookies; just not the favorites that I remember them as. I'll have to try some them again if I head to Mililani or Kaneohe. I like them crunchy. Their bite sized cookies are crunchy. I usually get a cup of the chocolate chip. Those are addicting.
