The short: local, no frills nail salon. Perfectly nice people, moderately clean, but not luxurious and can get much better for the price. The longer: called ahead & appreciative that they took me in for 2 pedicures almost immediately, but the experience was pretty rushed since they had appointments coming in 30-45 mins later. Pedicure was $34.50, with no real leg/foot massage or any sort of nice lotions or anything. They didn't even wrap our feet or take the paper off when we were leaving. Conveniently located and good if you're in a pinch, but I wouldn't rush back here. read more

Charming Nails always does an incredible job! The first time I came here, I needed to get my nails fixed as another nail salon in the neighborhood did a very poor job and Esther spent the time to repair my bad nail job and turn them into something I was happy to show off. All of the staff is very friendly and it's fairly easy to get an appointment for the date and time that you'd like. They've also repaired a nail of mine the day after I originally got them done as a nail broke, free of charge. Could not recommend enough! read more

Charming isn't quite the word; average is more like it. My friend and I for a wild girls night out went here for a mani/pedi for $34; I booked over the phone and had no issues. We get there, and we're shocked as to how small this place is; I'm talking single file walking small. The space was clean, and the licenses of all the women were posted upfront, so that was a plus. Pedicure was average- no reason why it was $23. My girl huffed and puffed the whole time (I even caught her rolling her eyes more than once) as if I was an alien that never got a pedicure before. She never bothered to clean under my nails, and she was apparently allergic to cutting cuticles. The color I picked, a light mint green, was a fussy color to apply, so that pissed her off even more. My friend sat next to me the whole time, and we chatted. We spoke normally - not shouting - and once I was done, my manicurist covered her ears with her hands and shook her head!!! Are you kidding me?! We can't talk in here?!? Needless to say, I left NO tip! Overall, my nails look like I did them. We will NOT be coming back. read more

Only putting one star because I have to. Went last Tuesday to get my nails done for graduation. Asked them to remove my old ones and put a new set. Got a new set of nail extensions + dip w/ UV. They looked like this after a week. Called them up yesterday and asked to get them fixed. Both ladies on the phone said it could be done. I specifically told them it had been one week. The second lady (the boss I'm assuming) said she'd fix it. Get there today (Thursday), the lady who did them is there and starts arguing saying there's no guarantee after 10 days (it's been 8 days essentially as I went first thing this morning), the nails are supposed to look like that because "you need to get them refilled every two weeks", and said she'd fix it but she'd charge me. She kept saying the lady on the phone "misunderstood" me. I left because I was furious and it was clear they never had any intention of fixing them or refunding me. Super unprofessional, horrible quality, and avoid at all costs. How this place has good reviews is a world wonder. read more

I went for a gel manicure and spa pedicure (~$90 total before tip) and my experience was just okay. Took over two hours to finish even though I was literally the only person in the salon when I went. They did a good job on my manicure and I really enjoyed the masks and scrubs they did on my feet for the pedicure. It was a great pedicure aside from the actual nail treatment part. My polish didn't look great and nails were uneven. It is now 5 days later and one of my nails was cut so short that it's digging into the skin on the side of my toe which is not only very painful but also causing my toe to be red, swollen, and have some puss. read more

I recently got my nails done here for the first time. I was impressed with the cleanliness and the nail techs were very kind. However, I just got my nails done not even 24 hours ago and the gel paint has already chipped. I was also disappointed that they don't have any options of color dipping powder. I didn't have any option but to get gel as a color and I hate getting gel because it chips so easily. They also don't have any acrylic powders. Disappointing to say the least. I wouldn't recommend this place for tips and powder dip. It was $100 dollar including tip and not worth the price. :( read more

Small nail salon but nice people and what I really thought was top here was the massage I received and the SAFETY. They did a really nice job with temperature checks, plastic coverings, and hand sanitizer to help combat covid. I got a manicure and pedicure last Thursday and unfortunately several nails broke and chipped within the first 48 hours. I also specifically pointed out a toenail that was broken really low and asked the technician to glue or wrap it which she did so unsuccessfully that the nail actually broke more in the days following my appointment and I now have to wear a band-aid to prevent it from really breaking and bleeding. This did not differentiate from every other average NYC salon where you get a mediocre job, cuticles are grazed over instead of cut and your polish job will be hit or miss depending on who you get on a given day and their desire to make an effort. read more

They have massage chairs for pedicures, sanitized tools for all the mani pedis and the ladies that work here are friendly. I appreciate the listed price menu and transparency. Amazing. AMAZING. This is probably THE BEST nail treatment I've ever received in the past 10 or so years of getting my nails done! My last nail salon experience was an absolute nightmare (see my review for Nails & More - disaster!), so I was initially pretty hesitant to put my newly healed hands (they were maimed last time!) in the hands of another nail tech, but after seeing the raving reviews on Yelp, stopped by Charming on my way back to Boston. And oh, am I glad I did! Marie (the nail tech who worked on both my manicure and pedicure!) made sure I was completely comfortable with everything she was doing, and she was so meticulous about EVERYTHING. This is the most perfect mani/pedi I've ever received. And normally my mani gets chipped within the first day of receiving one (I think I get too rough with my hands?), but even though it's the 2nd day of me digging through dirt/my purse and slamming on key boards - my mani is still perfection! I found this place since it was rated best in the UES hood by NY mag, which actually has never steered me wrong, so I thought it was worth a shot. I have gone to nail places on the UWS and have been dragged to the Diva more than my bank account would care to admit, so I went here with some trepidation. I'm not the girlie girl who gets the mani-pedi w/ cosmos on any kind of regular basis. I want the durable pedicure that will last a good month... and that's what I got! I only waited 5 minutes as a walk-in for a manicure @ 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. I asked immediately if I could get a pedicure too since the rates were so reasonable. I did that first and Bobby, my technician, was delightful--moisturized while gently scrubbing, asked if I wanted my cuticles trimmed, and then put on a precision polish--not at all outside the nail, which is a first in my pedicure experience here in NYC. They even did a really nice leg massage as well (and you can up it to a longer spa massage for a little extra). She took me over to her table for the manicure directly, which was as relaxing and pampering as the pedicure. She took her time and I left feeling delighted about my soft hands and feet. A great way to start the weekend! And all for $28.00!!! I'm sure if you go here at typically busy spa times, you will wait. Numerous people came in after 5pm and waited an average of 15 minutes, but I was never rushed to leave and they let me stay under the driers for a good 40 minutes and then wrapped my toes to ensure I came home as flawless as I left. I left a nice tip and thanked them profusely. I do not live or work on the UES. In fact, it's a real haul for me, but I will continue to go back here for a quality job. ***NOTE: I noticed reviews for another Charming Nails on Second Ave. that customers mistakenly thought was this one.
