We just had a not so great experience at Charred in La Vista. My husband and I came in with our infant this evening (Thursday) and were told there was a 10-15 minute wait. No problem at all. Two tables opened up while we were waiting and the hostess told us that one of the tables would be ours but she had to get the ok from the kitchen. Which honestly makes sense. I understand you have to keep up with the orders. Thirty minutes go by and the hostess sat 1 person at another table and then seated 3 more people up at the bar. We overheard them put in a food order. When the hostess walked by, I asked if we could be seated yet and she said the kitchen still said no. I asked her about the people up at the bar ordering food. She said that was up to the bartender. (Mind you, several servers were just standing around by the kitchen entrance so it didn't seem like a staffing issue.) when she told me they wouldn't be seating us I told her that we had been waiting 30 minutes. She went over to talk to the bartender. After some whispering back and forth and dirty looks, the hostess walked past us, grabbed menus, put them on the table and goes "you can sit" in the most snotty tone. She wouldn't even look at me. I've never experienced someone so blatantly rude in a restaurant setting. My husband then called the restaurant to talk to someone and he couldn't even get an apology or explanation. We've always loved charred but we won't be back to this location. read more

Been some time since I have been to this place and food is still good. You can watch a game, get a good beer, friendly attentive service and good food. We had chicken sandwiches and the chicken was really juicy. I had the chicken BLT which was really good. Aioli Mayo was a nice touch. We also had the haystack appetizer which is French fries tossed in cheese, scallions, roasted jalapeños and bacon. It was the perfect amount of cheese and a great way to start our meal. Walked in on a Sunday night with my wife and three kids. After being seated and waiting for 15-20 minutes, neither waiter came over to serve us drinks or take our order. When another family of four was seated after us and served drinks, we walked out. Got the Mexican special, didn't need that corn fritter or chipotle aioli. Just get all American standard cheeseburger would have been best. We've been to Charred a few times. The service, food, and cleanliness is very consistent from our experience. The burgers felt a little on the small side but that was fine with us as their burgers were made from wagyu beef which is a pricey ingredient. As others have mentioned you have to enjoy garlic to dine here as garlic is in nearly everything they do. The star of their menu is their deep fried pickles. While their fries are really good the pickles are so much tastier. Over all this is one of our favorite places to go on a date night. Staff is friendly. Food it fabulous! Customer service is not. As I was waiting for my to-go order for 10 minutes, 5 other parties walked in the door and not 1 of the 7 servers, hostess or bartender walking around stopped to say anything. Once one of the women asked if someone could help her she said that they were all busy cleaning tables. They were not. I ordered a kids meal and as O walked out to my car I realized there was no kids drink in the bag. When I went back in to ask about it, the bartender said they ran out of lids so they were not doing to-go drinks. When I asked more questions, she said that it was part of the meal so that wasn't really missing anything. When I asked to speak with a manager she said she was a manager. I told her I'd like the drink even though it didn't have a lid so she finally gave me the drink. No kindness or trying to understand. Not good customer service at all! read more

We went here on a Friday night with the kids. Instead of coloring pages, each kids got a bucket of small toys, stacking blocks, that sort of thing. That was very thoughtful and the kids enjoyed it. It is a hipster-y burger restaurant with a good mix of clientele. There were a couple families, including ours, but also older and younger groups/couples. The burgers were pretty good. I got The Omaha while my wife got the Charred. We definitely preferred hers, as it had rich flavors from the aioli and cheese compared to the generally blandness of the corned beef in mine (I have noticed that corned beef sandwiches are pretty bland here). In any case, we enjoyed our burgers, mine being just fine while hers was great. The kids meals were adequate for our kids, with a large portion of fries. They both got burgers and ate them all up. Speaking of the fries, they would have been good if they went lighter on their seasoning. Whoever prepared them that night made them almost inedible because the fries were very salty. That was probably the only dour point of our experience there. All in all, I am glad for this West-O burger place that is a good alternative to the fantastic burger establishments in East-O. read more

The burgers at the restaurant are great, however, the sides leave something to be desired. We had the fries and the hummus. The fries were very greasy and if you don't like oinions like my husband, they put a good amount of green onions on it. The hummus is... well... not hummus. It is very lemony and the bread that comes with it is not great. For some reason, when I ate both together, my brain kept thinking I was eating egg salad. Wow! I think this place is underrated in town. I haven't really heard anyone talk about it but it was AMAZING! Walked in and got seated right away. The waitress recommended the brickway burger which has beer cheese sauce and grilled onions. I ordered that and my husband got the BBQ burger and we split the fries {cheaper by $1 and PLENTY of fries}. Our waitress also recommended the garlic aioli for the fries. Our food came out fresh and pretty quickly! My burger was amazing - the beer cheese sauce was soooooo good. The fries with the aioli was perfect as well. Overall, great service, atmosphere and food. My only complaint would be the burger was a bit greasy which is a given but I was hungover so it was perfect. Will be back. read more

me and my friend came here as a unplanned detour to our day. we have never been to or heard of this place before but we were PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! the ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming and the service was IMPECCABLE. servers were very nice and extremely quick to bring our food and drinks out and very attentive. the food was TO DIE FOR and not too expensive. we got the cheese pickle fries as an appetizer and it was very unique and honestly the best fried pickles we've ever had. definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a quick bite but still quality food and experience. definitely will come again!!! read more

Our waiter took our drink order returned with waters and 20 minutes later after our appetizer came out he brought the 3 drinks we ordered from the bar. 2 beers and a manhattan that we didnt order it was supposed to be something else. I could understand if it was busy but it wasnt.. it was after 8pm. One of the girls from the wait staff had friends waiting for her on the patio, as she got off and walked across the court yard to smoke. Her and her friends continued there conversation by shouting across a field so everyone on the patio could hear. Place would be great if they hired competent hostess and wait staff. Got there early for a table of 8 on the patio. There were two empty four tops and a two top available but the hostess told us 20 minute wait. No big deal. After our 20 minute wait we watch them seat one of the 4 tops that they could've used to seat us if they just moved it 3 ft. Waited an hour and a half before we gave up and left. I understand you can't kick other people out but you can use common sense when seating tables and you can buss tables that are done eating and drinking and take them their check, which the servers were not doing anything to move it along. Disappointed and won't be back. Charred has great food but their staff is consistently below average. read more

I really love the food here. The burgers are very tasty! I had the trio sliders with my choice of Omaha, Wildfire, and Ssam. My wife had the Classic, and my son had the Kid's Cheeseburger meal. The burgers were very tasty as I said the meat is very well seasoned and the toppings were very fresh and the aioli was fantastic. I had the sliders because I couldn't decide which burger to try! The only reason I couldn't give a five star is the atmosphere. It's very loud and doesn't make a good place to bring a date. We couldn't hear each other at all. Between the three of us, we had the Classic burger, Steakhouse burger, and the Jalapeno Popper burgers, as well as the onion rings, cheese curds, and french fries. The burgers were fantastic and cooked to perfection! The sides were pretty good too, especially the cheese curds. The service was spot-on and friendly. My only real criticism was that it is a little noisy when it's crowded. We'll definitely be back although maybe not on a Friday or Saturday night. read more

First time at Charred tonight, maybe our last. My wife and I stopped in as we had been running errands most of the day, were hungry, and had driven by this place a few times over the past few days. We rolled in around 6:00. The atmosphere seemed nice enough, but the staff seem to be running around rather chaotically. While we were only second in line to get a table, it still took about 5 to 10 minutes before the host finally sat us at one of the high tables. Our waitress did a good job and was attentive as she could be given the fact that she was also acting as bus person, hostess, and bartender. It was obvious they were training a couple of other people during the shift, which in and of itself is OK. But overall it seemed as if nobody was focusing on just one job. They were all over the place, just as our waitress was. It took inordinately long for our bar drinks to arrive. Nothing complicated, but our waitress finally had to go back and get them herself. She ended up giving them to us at half price because of the delay. The food itself was rather tasty. I had a Classic and my wife had the Bleu burger. We also had fries and onion rings. All told, for a couple of burgers, fries, onion rings, and a couple of half-priced bar drinks, the total came out to $40. For just two of us. With tip we were almost to $50. That's pretty pricey for a burger place regardless of whether or not they use wagyu beef. Based on the cost and the chaos, I don't know that we'll be going back. read more

Charred burger in my option is of the top 3 burger places in Omaha. Their beef on the burger is incredible, then you add their skinny fries and wow a complete meal. The waiting staff is also always ready to answer questions and be there to get you water or more drinks. I always enjoy bringing friends here that haven't been because give it high praise. read more

I don't really like when they have a few different people serving you - one brings your drinks, another took my order, another brought my food and then another kept my drinks filled. He was the most attentive and I don't remember his name. If I go back, I will ask for his section.
