I'm sitting in the restaurant writing this as I munch on fries--that's how good it is! All I can say is wow! Hot, fresh, juicy, tender, crispy edged burger, on a soft toasted bun, loaded with a variety of delicious toppings (I got the Farmhouse Burger--couldn't even get a picture because I ate it so fast). The fries were light and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside (my favorite!). This a great spot if you are on your lunch break from the many surrounding businesses. This is my 3rd time eating at Charred and I haven't been disappointed ! The 1st thing I EVER ordered from this restaurant was the "Road house burger". It was love at 1st bite. The burger was cooked to perfection and bold with flavor. I've gotten it every visit and has remained consistent. To switch things up I've gotten different sides Brussel Sprouts - This typically comes "charred" which is a little more than my preference so I just asked to get it "less roasted" and it's perfect! Waffle fries - great with their house made mumbo sauce BBQ corn on the cob- SIMPLY AMAZING my last visit I placed my order to-go and got a vanilla milkshake sadly I ate majority of my food before I remembered to take a photo. I've been here a few times in the past. Burgers were good, but not too memorable. I heard there was a change in ownership recently, and decided to give it another try. Burger was absolutely incredible. I got the roadhouse burger. the pork wasn't pulled as described, but it was sliced thick and extremely tender. I was quite pleased to find it this way, rather than pulled. It had a nice smoke on it as well. Burger was large, cooked perfectly. I also got cajun fries, which were cut thin and well seasoned. You must try this place, it's SO GOOD!! First visit here. Super clean looks newly remodeled, the guy who took my order (owner?) was helpful and so kind. I had the Charred Burger with bacon and onion marmalade with the truffle Parmesan cheese fries. This was worth every penny. It's cooked over a wood fire and the flavor was delicious. Its never good to order your burger and then notice that the cook is using what looked like a Bunsen burner to cook the food. I got there about 6:00PM. For some reason, the fire was not hot enough, so the cook was using a small can of propane. The burger was a good size, and the fries were good, but the burger was tasteless. read more

We discovered Charred last week when we went out for some dinner on a whim. We did dine-in at this unassuming looking (from the outside) restaurant at Worldgate in Herndon. The staff was friendly and helpful as we made our first order at Charred. I got the Truffle Hunter burger and my wife got some wings, in addition to a side order of roasted brussel sprouts. The burger was a perfectly cooked medium and delicious, as were the wings. The roasted brussel sprouts were plentiful and an especially tasty treat. We loved that the food is literally cooked over a wood burning fire, which really helps them live up to their name. They also had a nice selection of local beers and cider, and we got a couple. The inside of Charred has a trendy look and good ambience. The prices are not cheap, but fair. Check out this quality joint when you get some burger cravings! read more

Well, this place has certainly deteriorated. I remain exclusive to the salads here and in particular the charred cobb -- so this review has very little weight in the context of the entirety of the restaurant. That said, it seems like the entree has been "simplified." Unless I'm losing my mind (which is always possible), the leaf variety has been throttled down to "chopped romaine," half an avocado has been whittled down to 2 slices, one egg has been reduced to half an egg, they're no longer paying attention to my request for "extra greens" as far as I can tell (it's a pretty small salad otherwise), and there's less bacon. I know, I should have led with "there's less bacon." I think the salad dressing has also quietly switched from a ranch (admittedly a pretty watery one) to blue cheese. I don't mind either, but why the switch? Disappointed to say that this restaurant has just fallen off my "regular haunts" list. read more

We've been a couple times, and they have been solid both times. The staff are absolutely the nicest folks, and the food is delicious. The burgers, chicken sandwich, and salmon are all delicious. (While it isn't on the menu, they were walking to do the salmon as a sandwich, which was delightful.) It's cooked with a wood-burning grill, which adds a nice smokey flavor. The fries are some of my favorite-a thinner cut and a nice crisp. (I hate non-crispy fries.) Whenever we've been there as a group, the owner and the servers are all so wonderful. They're starting to work on selling some beef jerky as a snack, and it is a perfect balance of a little subtle sweet with a nice kick of peppery spice at the end (nothing overpowering). Overall a very good burger place, and I have been to a lot of them. I wish the burger was slightly thicker because it's hard to get a good medium rare with this size burger (I'm guessing 6 oz). However, the burger had great char and great flavor. The bun was OK but not great. I had the charred Brussel sprouts and they were very good. Update: Came in again today and had the salmon sandwich. OMG, so good. The flavor combo in this sandwich is just fantastic and the salmon was cooked to perfection. Service was great (as it was last time too). Plus, I was pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of new menu items! Original: I tried Charred for the first time after my mom had been raving about it to me and I was really pleased with my meal! I got The Forager burger but with grilled chicken instead of a beef patty and a vanilla milkshake. My sandwich was supposed to have mushrooms on it but I couldn't find any, but the milkshake and sandwich were still delicious anyway. All of the employees were also very friendly. My stepdad got the wings since they were having a special that day, but they were just okay--pretty bland and dry. The menu is also quite limited, but they opened pretty recently so I'm hoping it will expand soon! read more

Ok. This place will be a problem for anyone with New Year's Resolutions involving moderation and food. Their wings have a perfectly charred coating to them and are tossed in sauces that are complimented so well with the hint of smokiness from the char. Served with this dipping sauce that made celery taste like heaven. Then there's the corn. OMG THE CORN!!! As someone who HATES corn on the cob, I've been converted by this corn that's still firm to the bite but the kernels come out so smoothly you get to enjoy the bite vs having to pick corn out of your teeth. It was HEAVENLY and deserves attention all on its own. The mac and cheese wasn't some overdone hodgepodge of blandness that I've been encountering recently. It's simple but tasty. But let's get to the burger. The Charburger comes with this bacon jam and caramelized onions that I could've eaten gobs of as a side dish. The patty itself was perfectly medium and MELTED with each bite. I tried to savor it but it was so good, I virtually inhaled it in a few bites. Add a refreshing local beer to the meal and I was STUFFED in the most pleasant of ways. The owner knew his craft beers to recommend one that would be just right for my palate and meal. And the prices amazing for what you get. I got the Roadhouse burger and it was incredible. Cooked perfect medium rare topped very nicely. I got the roasted Brussels sprouts and omg. Best roasted Brussels sprouts I ever had. Perfectly seasoned and roasted. This place is a must. It's in a shopping center that is mostly restaurants. Which could be good or bad. They are still new so I will give them some leeway, but I would be lying if I didn't say I wasn't disappointed. There is a good amount of seating and I loved that they have cute, funny quotes on the walls. I do think they need to have a sauce station of some sort so we don't have to ask the line cooks for it. It would be more convenient for everyone. The cashier was nice and quick - but there was only one chef and 1 person setting up the burgers and 1 person doing the fries. So we waited about 20 minutes for our food - which is a lot of time for a place like this. But again, give them some leeway. We ordered Brussels Sprouts and sweet potato fries. Both were delicious and there was a good size of them too. I ordered the Forager burger and thought the portabello mushroom was a bit too burnt for my taste. It also wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. I'll definitely give them another shot since they're still new. I think I would go for the chicken next time though. This place has no shame! I ordered brussel sprouts and the were burnt and oil soaked. Not to mention they charge $5. These brussel sprouts are horrendous and inedible! The sad part is that this is NOT the first time this happens. It is like flushing money down the toilet at this place. I also noticed the burgers were so small the last time I ate there and they are supposed to be 6oz. The one I ordered for delivery was HUGE compared to the one they gave me about a month ago. To add insult to injury, they do NOT know how to cook burgers. My friend I I asked for medium and we got rare multiple times. The owner took my order the last time, and he charged and added food to our order that no one in my group ordered. The tables were all dirty, and there was no one eating there - so not like they were too busy. One of the trash cans was so full, you couldn't fit a straw. If that's the way it is when the owner is there, how is it when he is not there. It is not a good look to have people send food back on the regular, get overcharged or wait for long periods of time when the place is not busy. Seems like they built up clientele and now they got too comfortable. I remember how awesome the food was when they first opened. It is sad that they have complete and total disregard for the quality of food they are serving to paying customers. read more

I ordered the Kick-fil-A sandwich again - this time with the sauce on top as it's supposed to be. Delish. My son ordered The Charred Burger. Delish. Hubby ordered the Red, White & Bleu Burger. DELISH! We shared an order of Parmesan Truffle Fries (cooked well done!) and the brussel sprout side between the 3 of us. My son also tacked on the decadent Peanut Butter shake. I had a taste. OMG. WOW. Hand spun, flavorful, THICK and GOOEY - check out my photo of it. NEED I SAY MORE?!! For a sweet treat or a dessert to top off your meal here, forego Cold Stone or any frap at Starbucks!!! Not your typical burgers and fries! The burgers I tried were the Kick-Fila with truffle fries and the Charred burger with brussel sprouts. The Kick-Fila was the juiciest chicken "burger" I've ever eaten and the toppings brought the whole thing together. The truffle fries were packed with flavor too! The Charred burger was delicious! I have't eaten in here in a year or so, but when I did, the food was good. After consistently good experiences I signed up for their rewards through Clover. I was excited to return when I received a "25% off any purchase" birthday reward. Went tonight and they did not honor the "25% off any purchase". In fact they tried to tell me it really was only 10%, but I had the email with the reward right there. We walked out just went to another burger joint. I am disappointed in the restaurants unwillingness to honor the commitment. Charred is located in Herndon's World Gate shopping plaza. I visited tonight and it was very clean, very welcoming and the atmosphere was friendly. The restroom was also very clean. Most importantly, the staff was polite. The menu is easy to follow, the pictures on the menu make each item irresistible. We ordered 4 burgers with mushrooms and cheese, as recommended by the owner, with a side of sweet potato fries, French fries, and roasted sprouts. Our burgers were prepared with care and as they arrived at our table, I could tell that they are gourmet burgers. Please see my pictures to judge for yourself. The burgers were cooked to perfection, they were juicy & mouth-watering.....They were very good and tasty. The side dishes were excellent and complimented our burgers perfectly. This place is by far one of my favorite burger places. I was very impressed not only with how good the food tasted but also by how well the burgers were prepared and served. The secret to cooking such great burgers is in their firewood oven. I don't know many places that cook their burgers or meat on a woodfire oven, but this place does. Went here because Yelp had this as a BBQ place, personally I wouldn't classify it as one, so don't go thinking you'll have normal bbq joint selections. Staff was nice, ambiance was cool. Close to Dulles. Everything here is a la carte. Brisket sandwich was good, a bit fatty. The slaw on the sandwich was OUT OF THIS WORLD! It truly made the sandwich a lot better. The chicken Caesar salad was good, but nothing to really get enthusiastic about. The sweet potato fries were really good, but, no complimentary dipping sauce except ketchup, which really takes away from an otherwise good food item. Pretty good burger spot. The pickled rick was good, flavorful patty, and thinly fried pickle. Bf got the charred burger which was a little messier, but he enjoyed it. I like the potato crisp fries better than the waffle fries - they were nice and crispy even though they don't look like it initially. I was really looking forward to this Kickfila sandwich plus I was starving. Ordered a late lunch via Door Dash & I can't even eat this sandwich. There's a heaping amount of mayo on here and that is NOT listed on the menu at all!!! I DO NOT eat mayo so I took a bite and literally spit it all back out. I mean this is an insane amount of mayo. I showed it to my co-workers to see if maybe I was being over the top and they too agreed its entirely too much even if it was listed on the menu. I really really enjoyed this place! I got the truffle hunter burger, wings, waffle fries, sweet potato fries, potato crisps, and brussel sprouts. We are usually never in this area so I wanted to make sure to try a bunch of things on their menu and they did not disappoint! The gentlemen at the store was super sweet and they made our order within the time frame as they quoted me online. There's also an extra coupon on Yelp and they gave us one as well as we left. The potato crisps are definitely a must try- super thin and don't make you feel as guilty about eating them. I also liked the wings a lot and the sauce that came with them. They were still crispy even after we got it all to go and brought them home. My burger was flavorful and juicy and the sauce on it was perfection, would highly recommend it. I moved into the neighborhood recently and I wanted to try this neighborhood burger place. It was around 4:30 and only one person in the restaurant. I asked for a classic burger medium, no mustard, and no tomato (which are free toppings) and their fries. I decided to take it to go. I got home and was soooooo looking forward to enjoying this burger. Boy, was I ever disappointed. I first took it apart because there was a slice of tomato on it then I took a bite. The burger was raw in the center. Not even medium rare. I couldn't eat it. The fries were so salty that I couldn't even eat those either. I called the restaurant to state that the burger was raw. And to make sure I got the correct order. Yes I did and ? I stated that I was not coming back to get a new burger. Which was by the way not even offered. For almost $ 18.
