Everything was well orchestrated from the moment we needed a reservation. We played golf earlier in the day and were unsuccessful booking a dining reservation so when we asked the bartender that afternoon for assistance, she was prompt to ask for our contact information so that the host could connect with us later. Surely enough as promised, Emily called us to confirm our reservation request. When we arrived, we were notified it would be small wait to guarantee a table was ready (a very short time might I add so it was no trouble at all). While the host was away, at least 3 other staff members, including a chef, stopped to ask us if we needed assistance. As former service industry workers, we were very impressed by the level of hospitality that was consistent and very present throughout our entire dining experience. There was a very thorough support system shown amongst the staff and it was very refreshing to witness. Isaiah was our server and was so wonderful. We were already excited about our evening based on the menu we previewed prior to arrival but his offerings and notes helped to seal the deal. He was not rushing but rather allowing us time to enjoy and take in the beautiful evening together. He was very attentive, friendly and provided some fun humor as well. The softer ambiance of the restaurant was a nice break from the lively atmosphere of the casino. You actually forget where you are and it's a nice spot to be adults for a little while. Dinner at ChartHouse Lake Charles is always a good meal that we look forward too. The prime rib, which is prepped in the morning hours always has the best flavor and right tenderness. The restaurant is always clean, perfect ambience. We were greeted immediately by the hostess as usual, very pleasant and courteous. Our server Christina absolutely the best, didn't hover but didn't leave you hanging with an empty drink. The food was delicious, my wife always gets the filet and loves it. Stopped in here for brunch on a Sunday. The hostess couldn't seat us in the dining room since we did not have a reservation, but offered for us to sit in the open seating in the bar area instead. The waitress brought us a couple of complimentary fruit cups filled with diced cantaloupe, honeydew and pineapple pieces and a basket with 3 pastries in it. The fruit was enjoyable, but only 1 of the 3 pastries was worth the carb calories. For my Main I ordered the Banana's Foster Pancakes with candied bacon and it was luciously delicious! The Bacon slices were crisp and deliciously bacony even with the sweet sauce slathered on them. The pancakes were quite large and very fluffy just like I like them and topped with rum sauce syrup, 2 bacon slices, banana slices and whipped cream. It could have easily been shared with someone else and my date did try to help me finish it off after he finished his main, but we both cried uncle before finishing it off so I still had to box some up to bring home. It was just as good leftover heated in the microwave. Those pancakes are the stuff dreams are made of so I hope they leave them on the menu indefinitely! In the meantime, I will be trying to concoct a copycat version at home. read more

He got the Pontchatrain eggs (I think that's what it was called) it was an omelet filled with seafood and had amazing delicious sauce on top of it. I had the short rib tacos and they were amazing! The Chart House is a very nice seafood/steak house. They serve a bread course with different types of bread with a butter and a separate pimento cheese spread for the breads. All the breads were good We opted for the mini crab cake appetizer, the bottom were perfectly seared and the cakes were full of crab. I had the prime rib which was cooked perfectly, it came with garlic mashed potatoes which were also good. My wife had the shrimp/scallop dish which was also very good. The restaurant overlooks the golf course and the bridge which made for a beautiful sunset. Kaitlyn was our server and she was very nice and attentive. I would, and have, recommended The Chart House to friends. In fact we had friends go the next night for a date and they had a great experience as well. Early bird dinner - made a reservation and very few people there at 5/5:30, but we had plans later in the evening. The table bread comes with pimento cheese and butter. Caesar salad was just ok, expecting a little more out of it. The entrees made up for it though. The filet comes with whipped mashed potatoes and added shrimp scampi to mine. The Chart House is a fine-dining restaurant located inside The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, and I highly recommend it to all! I belong to Landry's Select Club and they give $25 credit for your birthday month that you can use at any of their establishments. This helped make my decision on where to vacation for my birthday easier. The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles was on my way home from my Florida vacation so I decided to include it in my travels. The Gold Nugget Hotel in Lake Charles is full of restaurants from casual dining to anywhere in between on to upscale. The place is beautiful and elegant, overlooking the golf course. I was sat next to the fireplace and this added to the wonderful experience. The server was attentive and quick to bring my drinks and the food came out hot. I had the filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. Everything was exquisitely presented and delicious! They have specialty drinks and I chose a fruity martini, it complemented the meal beautifully! A very nice facility. The service was okay (When the server was asked if amberjack was a white fish, the answer was, "It's just fish"). The food was so-so. The value was terrible. I get that it's co-located with a casino, and that's what we get, but still. I expect so-so food for a steep price at an airport, but not at a restaurant chain that's been around for decades. The Manhattans we ordered were okay. The 2nd one I got was bitter. The chopped salads two of us got with our meal were fairly meh. The lettuce was too finely chopped and partly brown (i.e., old). The French Quarter oysters were good; a little watery for cooked oysters, but good. The kimchi calamari was good, but not so kimchi-y, and there was almost as much loose fried batter as actual squid. Two of us did the "Chart Your Course" option ($49). I got the "bronzed" salmon, whatever that is. It came with two grilled shrimp. The salmon was done nicely, as were the shrimp. The chive mashed potatoes had an odd consistency, like the potato was mixed with something else. Almost turnipy. My girlfriend got the shrimp trio. The mash was less than room temperature, and the shrimp were unremarkable. Neither plate was a $49 plate in my book. My nephew got a medium 9oz filet mignon with about four tablespoons of the mystery mash ($45). The steak was cooked on the rare side of medium-rare. He reported it was decent. $275 (not including the $55 tip) for three people is not commensurate with the quality or quantity of the food served. We won't be back. read more

I try not to base my reviews on service. However in this case it went from good to bad. The first day we sat at the bar with a friendly attentive bartender. We ordered the spinach crab dip, a few drinks and the wagyu sliders. I really enjoyed the sliders and the dinner sauce on the side. The second time the bar was full so we sat at a table in the bar area. The waitress lacked common sense or it could be deliberate. Either way it didn't sit well with me. I asked if the oysters would be cheaper if we ordered a dozen in comparison to the happy hour price. Her response was it will only save you a dollar or two. She gave me the wrong drink order. I asked for the dinner sauce on the side for the sliders. She didn't do it. Also I asked about the 25 dollars off due to my husband is a Landrys member. All of the resturants in the entire casino I believe are Landrys owned. Everywhere we went we received 25 off. She said she didn't know. I didn't believe her. We did receive 25 off. I just felt as though her ignorance was purposeful and she had an indifferent attitude. On another note the crab cake minis, oysters, and waygu sliders were great. read more
