I feel like we got the best seat in the house! The ocean view was amazing! The have a fantastic array of mock-tails, We ordered the coconut shrimp and kim chee calamari, so many flavors! It was amazing. The five of us shared the apps, plenty to go around! Two of us ordered the grilled halibut with a tropical salsa (i was one and it was absolutely divine)! Two of us ordered the prime rib and they said it was delicious and one of us ordered steak and was very happy with their meal. Our server was Love and she was very pleasant and helpfully and attentive and her suggestion were spot on. Two of our party ordered the special lava cake and they loved it! My husband and I came here for dinner and will absolutely love to come again. We each ordered a mojito flight. All the flavors were SO tasty, it was hard to pick a favorite! My husband got the salmon + grilled asparagus whereas I ordered the filet mignon + sautéed mushrooms (mashed potatoes are included with the steak). Took a couples getaway trip for the weekend on behalf of my birthday and I was surprised with reservations for dinner here. I was rather pleased. Ambience - low light setting, seated in the corner with the view of the ocean. Beautiful! Meal & service - we had the kimchi calamari recommended by our waiter. He had been phenomenal and so helpful with ordering. My significant other had the spiced ahi that came with furikake rice and a wasabi cream and ginger soy sauce, along with a lobster tail that came with a baked potato and broccolini. The ahi was light and the seasoning was complimentary to the tuna. I chose to chart my course, I had clam chowder, the prime rib (medium rare), and we shared my mini lava cake. I had two other clam chowders earlier that day and hands down I loved the chowder here. The prime rib was tender and it came with mashed potatoes. The mini lava cake was perfect to end our night. In between dinner I had two glasses of wine as well. All in all, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back. One of my favorite parts of the trip. read more

We called the same day (on a Saturday in June) and could only get a 4:15 dinner time but it ended up being a blessing because we so much I needed the extra time to walk it off on Cannery Row. We ordered the Chart You Course dinner. A Cesar salad (delicious, we both ate every bite) it was a large salad for a starter as well, then we both got a filet mignon with blue cheese crumbles, mashed potatoes, and a lobster tail. The steak literally melts in your mouth. The lobster tail was incredible, not only did it taste amazing but it looked beautiful. We also got a side of asparagus but we're too full to eat more than a stick each. It was really good but we didn't realize the steak came with mashed potatoes. The final course to the Chart House was Mini Lava Cake. We were too full to eat this in the restaurant so they packed it to go for us, and I immediately regretted it when I took a bite a few hours later. It was so good even cold that it must have been amazing served hot with ice cream. The service here was so professional and quick and on top of things. Spent my birthday weekend in Monterey and was looking for a nice restaurant for dinner. Chose Chart House based on the reviews I seen in addition to it's location near the water. Absolutely loved my dining experience here! The hostess was very friendly and accommodating as I wanted to be seated at a window - the additional wait for this request was less than 20 minutes. The server, Gary, was very friendly and professional the entire time. He is by far one of the best servers I've experienced in a while, and he helped make my birthday dinner special. The food was AMAZING, I have no complaints. I also loved that the manager stopped by our table at the end to check to see how our experience was. Was crowded on a weekend and they gave me the best window seat that was available. Good to eat while looking out at the ocean. Since it was the weekend, with a reservation waited 10 minutes. Would never want to wait when I have reservations, but all is good. They had a decent waiting area with a big couch. Ordered Calamari and Wine to start. Calamari was real good and probably fresh from the sea. Had a big selection of Wine. Whatever Red Blend I chose, that was real good. Also, ordered a 10 oz Prime Rib. Was pretty good, but very thick. It was like a tall-ish thick Prime Rib that came with good mashed potatoes, ajus, and horeradish. Was alot of meat! But pretty tasty with the sauces. You Have to order the Hot Lava Chocolate Cake! AMAZING! I do not like chocolate and not really into sweets/desserts, but wow that Lava Cake was something else. Since it was a birthday celebration, Chart House hooked it up with some Mud Pie. Dinner 11/26/22. Posting this at 6:17pm right before we leave. Unfortunately, our amazing experience was cut short when dessert came around. Despite our entrees and appetizers being completely delicious, our encounter when it came to our concerns with dessert was very off putting. My wife is highly allergic to peanuts and upon the dessert coming out and us asking if there were peanuts, our waitress completely disregarded in a very nonchalant way stating "its only at the top." A simple "we can absolutely fix that for you and make you a new dessert" would have been appreciated since this is not an issue we take lightly. After reading so many great reviews about this restaurant we were excited to try it for Father's Day Brunch. I regret to say that it was the worst brunch we have ever had. My husband and I ordered the eggs Benedict - $31 for the lobster version. The English muffin was so dry we literally couldn't cut it with a knife. The hollandaise sauce was coagulated, and there was just a small sprinkling of lobster. Another person ordered the crab cake sandwich which wasn't cooked through and her bread was also very dry so she didn't eat it. The turkey bacon had a strange flavor. A day before my bf and I came, 8:45pm was the only reservation we could make. It was a last minute plan for the weekend before NYE, but we called back the day of and were able to get a 7:15pm reservation! Score! We ended up ordering: Half dozen oysters - so fresh and shells were clean! I didn't even need any of the sauces! But they do also taste good with a few drops of lemon and Tabasco! Shrimp, crab, avocado and mango stack - I see why it's a popular order based off others' reviews. I like how they don't overpower the seafood with sauces so you can taste how fresh it is. Mac Nut Mahi - nice sweet crunch with the moist Mahi Spiced Ahi - mine was perfectly cooked! Both the sauces were so good!! Goes so well with the ahi and rice. Hot chocolate lava cake - takes 30 minutes to make so your server will ask at the beginning of your meal whether you're interested so they can start prepping. So good!! The description in the menu just makes your mouth water. It's also nicely plated and almost looked too good to eat, but of course we had to dig in before it melted into a chocolate mess hehe. I was so impressed with how nicely timed the dinner was and the spacing between appetizers, entree, and dessert. They brought out all appetizers at once, both entrees at once, which is a big plus for me because not all restaurants do this. Our waiter was really good about checking in on us, clearing plates and refilling our water without us asking. This is definitely a popular spot, but even with how busy it was, especially a holiday weekend, service and food quality was not compromised. This is my favorite restaurant in Monterey. It's a must after a busy day at the beach and the aquarium, with a calm, classy atmosphere and a lovely ocean view. I ordered the Spiced Sofrito Swordfish, a seasonal dish priced at $42. I personally do not like coleslaw, but the fish and polenta were delicious enough to make up for it. The swordfish had a light chipotle seasoning and was perfectly moist inside. The polenta was sweet and well-textured, and gave a very nice balance to the fish. For the portion size it seemed slightly overpriced, and I found the sauce on the side to be unnecessary. We got the Kim chee calamari, which was excellent. The calamari itself was the perfect texture, crispy without any rubberiness. The sauce was sweet and savory. It also had fried vegetables such as carrots and onions which were a very nice addition. My boyfriend got the Herb Crusted + Slow Roasted Prime rib priced at $45. The prime rib itself was excellent, very juicy and with a pleasantly flavorful herb crust. The potatoes were a bit lackluster, and could do with a side of butter to add as desired. The potato skin was mixed into the mash, which provided a unique texture. It is also worth noting that due to some scheduling errors on my part, we had to bump up our reservation one hour earlier, which provided no noticeable wait time to us getting a table on a Sunday night. read more

Long time local eating here. I even cooked here a few years ago. Come in last night and ordered the glazed king salmon and shrimp with mango sticky rice. The Glazed Salmon was delicious and cooked to perfection as was the mango rice . I was kinda disappointed that it only comes with two small shrimp when it's like a 8$ up charge for the two shrimp. One bartender working and he seemed a bit over whelmed but was pretty good the entire time we were there, albeit distracted. But forget about it when 25 people suddenly swarmed the bar. Disappointing is the best way to describe this place. I brought my wife here hoping for a nice quiet and romantic dinner. That absolutely wasn't the case. The seating places you in very close proximity to other diners. There were kids screaming and the general feel of the place was like an overpriced Bubba Gumps. My wife and I showed up dressed business casual in accordance with the "dress code". What was the point? Several others had on hoodies, flip flops, torn jeans, t-shirts, athletic shoes, etc. Again, it felt like Bubba Gumps or Denny's. The screaming kids and general attire of the patrons really took away from the "more upscale, quiet, romantic restaurant" feel. At this point I was already severely disappointed. My wife and I each ordered a "chart your course" meal. The meal consisted of a starter (soup, chopped salad, Caesar salad), a main course (I had miso salmon, she had prime rib) and it came with a small lava cake for dessert. At $55 for this was an absolute bargain. The food was excellent. Everything came out perfectly timed. We never felt rushed or without. The best part was our server, Damon. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and attentive. We don't like to be bothered a whole lot while dining. Damon seemed to show up and exactly the right times. We ordered certain drinks to come with certain courses and Damon was spot on every time. The drinks were delicious. Berry Mule, Bourbon and Chocolate, Mojito Flight, and the table side torched apple Manhattan. A little pricey, but expected at up class Bubba Gump. Overall the redeeming factor for this place was Damon, our server. For a place that considers itself High End Dining, they really should make it feel that way in all aspects, not just the pricing. Luckily, there's one slot metered parking just close to the entrance of the restaurant. It was a nice place with the view of Monterey Bay. We waited for a few minutes as it was crowded. We ordered Kimchi Calamari, forgot to take picture as we were hungry and finished it up at once. It was so good. So as well with the CH Prime Ribs. It was cooked perfectly and delicious together with mashed potato. The Sizzling Mushrooms was a perfect complement to prime ribs. The Black Linguine Di Mare was okay. I like pasta but this one was not my liking because the sauce was a bit off. Though the shrimps and scallops in it tasted good. You can tell it was fresh. Since we were full already, we just To Go the Lava Cake that looks delicious. My friend was happy as she got a free Mud Pie for her birthday. It was rich chocolate flavored, so yummy. Charthouse holds a fantastic location at the east end of Cannery Row, complete with ocean-side windows overseeing the Pacific, twenty feet above the waves crashing into the pillars below. For a date setting, it's a great spot to launch a night. We had reservations and were seating relatively quickly, waiting a little under 10 minutes until our table was available. Our server was very friendly but we didn't see her very often during the course of our meal: once to take our order, once near the close of our entree and once for the check. It was a busy night of course but seemed a little strange for a high end restaurant. If we hadn't had our food planned out it would've taken a lot longer. The food was a mixed bag. The king salmon plate was *chef's kiss*, perfectly cooked and even as it sat on the plate didn't over-cook in its own heat. The harvest vegetables were also very tasty and the apple frisée perfectly balanced the whole dish. The presentation could've been better but all in all, a solid plate. My steak was a little over cooked from the medium rare I requested. And it was the wrong dish. I'd ordered the teriyaki sirloin steak and received the NY strip. I usually go NY strip but this one sounded fairly plain, and I can confirm that it was fairly plain. The overall color was like a pork chop which was kind of weird. The mash potatoes were the best part, perfectly salted and a great smooth texture. I had asked the staffer who delivered the plate to grab our server but she never came by, and hunger convinced me to just eat the steak. The second time we saw our server, we put in the order for the hot lava cake, a personal favorite dish of mine. It came a while after we finished our meal and looked great (only dish I managed to snag a picture of); we were very excited. Alas, the molten core was no where to be found. It was mostly a brownie with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge, which tasted good but should be marketed as such. All in all, Charthouse, a chain restaurant, fell a bit short for the cost. With no alcohol or apps, we paid over $130 with tip. The location is nice but you can find better value at the same price in the area. read more

Mark was our waiter and we loved him! Wonderful service and amazing food for a date night. I ordered the salad bar which was very fresh and the 10oz. prime rib with the mashed potatoes. My boyfriend enjoyed lobster bisque, shrimp pasta and ice cream. We had a great waterfront view to see the sea otters playing around and my reservation was easy to book through Open Table.
