THIS PLACE! This restaurant doesn't just bring delicious food to the table they bring an experience. I wish I could have got more pictures of our actual meals. Not only were they HUUGE portions but actually quite affordable! My fiancé got prime rib, shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes. I had the paneed chicken, shrimp and asparagus. Each of us had cocktails AND dessert. Omg the lava cake.... GET IT! Our total with tip was only around 200ish dollars! A steal for the quality of food and the atmosphere. My wife and I went to Chart House for our "fancy" honeymoon dinner while we were in Tahoe and they did not disappoint! We had called ahead with reservations and told them what the occassion was and they did a great job following through and making us feel special. They had a custom menu printed up with our names and the occassion, they made sure we got a table with an excellent view (I'm sure they do that for everyone if possible, but they said they had reserved it especially for us), and we got a complimentary drink to celebrate. Our dinner was also incredible. We each had a steak, I had the Ribeye and my wife had the Filet Mignon. Both were extremely well cooked and tasted beautifully. The sides were good as well. They had an excellent wine and drink selection as well, although I am by no means an expert. My wife did enjoy her glass of wine. The wait staff was attentive, but not overbearing. Exactly what you would want for a "date night". It's a little expensive, but 1) you're in a resort town, and 2) it's supposed to be a "fancy" establishment. So on both counts you are getting what you pay for and they did not disappoint. It's a little indirect to get here from the road, but the GPS had no problems and if you keep an eye out the signage will do a good job of directing you to where you should be going. When we were in Tahoe someone did mention to me that Chart House is a "chain", and I guess that might be a downside to some (there are plenty of excellent local restaurants to try), but anything in any of the casinos is just as "commercial" and Chart House certainly didn't FEEL like a chain restaurant. Our family of 4 dined at the restaurant this past Sunday 2/23/25 to celebrate a birthday. While the view was stunning, the food was subpar and the service was one of the worst experiences we have had at a Chart House and most restaurants we have experienced. The person serving our table was not responsive, he would disappear for large amounts of time. He did not pay attention to keeping our water and champagne glasses filled. He served a raw piece of prime rib when the request was a medium rare. We had to ask someone else to send the meat back to kitchen for further cooking. There was no recognition of the birthday at our table. It was a very disappointing overall. read more

The lobster pasta was mushy with sprinkles of lobster pieces with texture consistency of canned lobster. The cod was prepared well, which was the only dish we enjoyed. We got the lobster bisque, prime rib, sizzling mushrooms, lava cake, blood orange and sage mock tail, and the honey cucumber mock tail. Everything was soo good, we are coming back. The exception was the honey cucumber mock tail was not drinkable to our tastes at all. We added club soda to the blood orange sage and it was a home run. This was the worst experience I have ever had at any Chart House I've been to, and I've been to a lot in my lifetime. And I know it was Thanksgiving, and that service is usually slow, and the quality of food is not usually all that good, but it was far worse than I ever thought it could be. Which is so upsetting because we have had some really great times at this restaurant. However, given this experience, we will NOT be coming back. - the food was dry and rubbery and the plate was so hot it couldn't be touched, which means they had been pre-made and were sitting under the heat lamp for God knows how long - there were large trays on tray stands strategically placed at the stairs, approximately 10 of them, and they were in plain sight of nearly all customers. The bus boys and wait staff would take half eaten food and scrape the remaining food onto a giant pile right in the middle of the tray for everyone to see and left it there for at least 10 minutes at a time. I have pictures. - a bus boy threw a wine glass onto one of the super full trays in the middle of the restaurant, and because it couldn't fit, when it fell, glass went flying everywhere. It nearly hit my right eye by an inch, and some of it hit a woman in the back of her head. - service was ok, but our waitress, Holly, kept telling us how she had to work all night until past 9pm and you could tell by her tone and attitude, she did not want to be there. - all 3 desserts were so flavorless and sugary they were inedible. - the dinners were all $69 regardless of what you and those dinners had to consist of a soup or salad and a dessert. So my turkey dinner, which was AWFUL, was the same price as my husband's prime rib, which makes no sense. Plus, nothing we ordered was worth $69. - on top of that, coffee and sodas were not included, so we got charged for those as well. Who does that in a meal like this?? All in all, it was a really bad time with nearly inedible food and lackluster service, and we will not be returning. Which is a shame because it used to be our favorite place to go. SUMMARY: This was THE WORST Thanksgiving dinner we have EVER had. Turkey looked to be out of a can, spinach looked like something from prison, potatoes were hard, gravy had evaporated because the plates had been sitting under heat lamps, which means they were all pre-made. Salad was soggy, soup was ok. Everything was $69, but nothing was worth it. Desserts were tasteless and filled with sugar. The server was upset she had to be there and made it known. And trays with mounds of halfeaten food littered the middle of the restaurant for all to see. All in all, it was AWFUL and ruined our holiday. Getting dolled up for a COVID night out on the town during my bachelorette weekend, my friends surprised me with a sunset dinner at Chart House. They made a reservation for the six of us at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Our waitress, Megan, was fantastic and encouraged us to go out on the back patio for some sunset photos after we placed our dinner order. We took our cocktails out and had a wonderful little sunset photo shoot to commemorate my bachelorette weekend. The cocktails were delicious; I enjoyed a mango Mojito. Everyone else enjoyed theirs. The lobster bisque was phenomenal. And for my main course, I had the melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon with a side of sizzling mushrooms. Yum, Yum, Yum! To end the fantastic meal, I had a slice of their mud pie. My friends tried the lava cake and another friend ordered the homemade peanut butter ice cream. Drinks were not as strong as we expected but since it was a celebration we kept ordering as if we were just drinking Lemonade, so be warned. Coconut Shrimp was the best Appetizer so make sure to Order that! Service was great and our Waitress was awesome!! Food was in a much larger portion so be warned, NY Strip Steak was great as well as their Lobster Tails. We chose Chart House for our 10 year anniversary dinner and if you're not disappoint! The staff was very catering, reviews were Beautiful at sunset. If you catch the corner window you can see a bit of the trees and reflection of the sun on the lake. From our arrival we were greeted and congratulated on our anniversary, as well as given a free anniversary dessert from the waitress. Everything tasted amazing. My husband got the "Chart your Course", which was $60 and included a soup, entrée, and one of the desserts. We came here for our late Christmas dinner. It was our first time here and we were looking forward to it. We got there exactly on time and were greeted nicely by the girl at the front desk. Thankfully we got seated right away. This restaurant was warm and cozy during the winter time. The ambience was nice but the service was horrible. Our table was between two other tables and they were well taken of. Our table was such a mess from all the plates and trash from appetizers and entrees that were never got taken away and cleaned. She has never stopped by us once to ask if everything was okay or we need our water to be refilled. My girlfriend ordered the king crab leg and we got our hot towels with lemons five minutes after the food was served? Come on, why would you bring out the hot towels that early? By the time we finished our food, the towels were already cold! At the end of our dinner, we asked for a togo box and she brought out this tiny box and she knew that box was way too small to fit everything. After we told her that box was too small, she left and came back with a bigger box. However, she just threw the box on our table and walked away. We weren't sure if she has had a bad night but her attitude was so bitter maybe because we were Asian? At the end of the night, good food, great company and terrible customer service! read more

Prime Rib Steak - Very Bad Our service - Bad View/Location - Awesome Recently we visited to celebrate a birthday while on vacation, hoping to try the best steak in the area. But our experience fell short of expectations. Made a reservation for 8pm, had to wait around 30 minutes for our table. Many of their signature cocktails and even basic beer were unavailable. Mocktails were very syrupy. We ordered five dishes of steak and bunch of appetizers including crab cake, none of them lived up to the standard specially chefs recommended prime rib was the worst we have every tried. We could only east few bites and had to discard everything. It was definitely not a quality I expected for a fine dining steakhouse. Furthermore, our waitress appeared indifferent to our dining experience, neglecting to refill water and failing to inquire about the uneaten food on our plates. Overall, while the view and location were great, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for quality steak. read more

One of my favorite dinner spots in South Lake Tahoe! We come here regularly and I cant believe I haven't written a review yet. This place is absolutely amazing every time we come. Tonight we were lucky to get a reservation due to COVID-19 protocols. Booked through open table and had a great table in this little area by a warm fireplace! Our server was very attentive and super friendly per usual! We started with cocktails...double berry mule, spicy cucumber, and a shot of whiskey neat. All delicious but the spicy cucumber was amazing! For appetizers, we got the shrimp/crab/avocado stack and the coconut shrimp (a must when we come here)...both great! For entrees, we got the black and blue sea bass (the holiday special), blackened mahi-mahi, and blackened salmon...can you tell we like seafood?! All were DELICIOUS! And of course we ended the meal with their lava cake!! All in all, if you want a delicious high end dinner in south lake this place is a must! It's also gorgeous in the summer if you can get a window seat for sunset! We will be back very very soon! read more

Wow! The Chart House goes above and beyond for their customers! My boyfriend and I love coming here for special occasions because they always treat us so well! We came here last Saturday to celebrate our anniversary and made a reservation for 6pm (best time to see the sunset with their panoramic windows!). They were running a little behind; not a big deal at all. We were seated around 6:20ish because we wanted to wait to sit on the top half of the restaurant (they gave us an option to sit on the lower level; same view, just no access to the salad bar). We were seated just in time to watch the sun set! It was a perfect way to start our dinner. We were taken to our table and they even put a "Happy Anniversary" card at the table; I teared up! We were immediately served with water from the wonderful waitress (can't remember her name but she was amazing). We started out with the oysters Rockefeller and a wine flight for us each. The oysters were so tasty and cooked perfectly. The wine flight included 3 different wines all varying from semi-sweet to dry (two whites and a red for $16, 3oz each). We both ordered the mahi, boyfriend got the seasonal selection of it and I customized mine, grilled with the mango salsa. I definitely recommend the season selections as they're only around so often! I liked my dish but enjoyed the seasonal mahi a little better (mango salsa on mine was a little too small of a portion for $5 extra). The dessert was the real cherry on top! We got the molten lava cake (order it right when you order your food because it takes a while to prepare) and it was ooey gooey delicious! We are locals. We have been coming here for years. The happy hour is a local driving point and after they never brought back the salad bar- this was major. We showed up for happy hour and because it's celebrity golf- in a week- they said no happy hour, regular prices. Most the people left, we stayed. The server, Hilary, was about the rudest person we have ever come across. I am a retired local officer and our friends are business owners, she was rude and unprofessional and clearly didn't want to be there. She was the most condescending and disrespectful person with such disgust. She walked past the tables with such arrogance, ignoring people left and right. Three tables around us stood up and left. We will refuse to be sat in her area if we ever go back. Whoever monitors your reviews- she should be fired immediately. It is too small of a town and just poor for business. Me and my wife went here for the first time tonight to celebrate our anniversary (noted in the reservation), we arrived early with no wait which was nice. She asked if we wanted appetizers but since we ate a late lunch we said no and that we were probably ready to order, this seemed to throw her off and bother her because it seemed she was annoyed with us the rest of the night, the people seated next to us received over the top service from her.. spending a lot of time covering menu options and what is the best to order, the other waiter helping the table opposite of us provided over the top stellar service, covering the menu and specials, the table behind us received stellar service and a complimentary slice of cake for their birthday; we received mediocre ho-hum service at best. We weren't informed of any specials, sauce wasn't offered to accompany my steak, and she wanted to know if we wanted dessert when ordering our main (weird.). No refill for my Diet Coke either (I don't drink), probably paid $8 for it too haha yay I had a Caesar salad which was pretty TERRIBLE, a fresh express salad is 10x better, it was slimy and had zero parm on it. I mentioned this when it came out (why would you even bring it out? A Caesar is literally made of 4 components) and was given a ramekin of it to put on myself... ok that works I guess (not for $14 it doesn't). If a chef can't make a decent salad that isn't worse than what comes out of a bag from Safeway you are in serious trouble guys. My New York steak was pretty good but nothing incredible for $50, big line of cartilage running down the middle, completely plain with zero sauce; garlic mashed were decent. My wife had the brussel salad and the lemon crusted salmon; the fish was cooked well and solid overall.. definitely overpriced though for what you get (garlic mashed too). The salad has given her incredible heartburn since eating it. Just not what you expect when having a $150 for two "nice meal" I could have accomplished the same thing at home except way better. Chart house used to be really good. It has completely changed. This was in February, my account changed and my reviews disappeared. We had reservations, but had to wait 30 minutes. The room was packed and they looked short of staff. Service was slow.The menu only had 3 beef options, Filet, Prime Rib and New York Steak. The menu is mostly seafood, but nothing sounded good. I had the New York and husband had the Prime Rib. Neither dishes were seasoned. My steak was dry, tough and didn't even have salt or pepper. Both came with some kind of mashed potatoes that were hard and tasteless. The couple that joined us had similar flavorless meals. The only thing good was the bread. The night started great we were given a great table just for the two of us (came into celebrate my partners birthday) but the service was incredibly underwhelming compared to previous visits. Our food was amazing, but our waitress seemed to be giving her other tables more attention than us, i'm presuming due to us being the youngest looking couple she was taking care of. We did tell her it was my partners birthday and we're excited because another table near us had a birthday as well and their dessert came out with a candle and the waitress was very enthusiastic and even offered to take pictures for the table. We were not given any special treatment like the other table and were ignored for most of our time at the restaurant. The waitress also kept trying to upsell us countless times after us declining the offers, I understand that as a waitress that is your job but it does not make sense to keep asking if we would like to add things to our meal after we said no thank you. At the end of the meal she dropped our check and said a simple goodbye, nothing like how she wished the other table that had the birthday to have a great night and happy birthday again. Such an amazing dining experience. Husband and I had our first anniversary dinner here and were welcomed with special menus printed with our anniversary date. So Sweet! My husband had requested a window seat with the view of the lake and it was absolutely beautiful watching the sunset over the lake. The service, food and ambiance - everything was exceptional. We started off with coconut crunchy shrimp and crab cakes. Both were absolutely incredible and were devoured in seconds. For our main course, I ordered the Herb Crusted Salmon and husband got the Filet Mignon. Both came with a side of delicious garlic mashed potatoes. Both were flavorful and cooked perfectly with incredible attention to detail. Last but not least, the Hot Chocolate Lava Cake. Mind Blowing, by far the best chocolate cake we have ever tasted. So good, decadent, warm and comforting. While it does take quite some time to prepare, they do warn you to order dessert 30 minutes in advance. Overall, we had such a delightful experience. My husband and I have been coming here for many years in June (staying at the Ridge Tahoe) for our Wedding Anniversary dinner. Such INCREDIBLE and WONDERFUL memories indeed!! Saturday, June 3, 2023, our 28th Wedding Anniversary, was nothing short of disastrous! Our reservation was for 8:00 pm. We arrived at 7:30 pm and had a cocktail in the bar. The bar was extremely crowded but we were able to grab a little table while we waited for our dinner table. We were not acknowledged for almost 30 minutes and only then did we order our cocktails thinking we would have to take them straight to our table since it was 7:58 pm. My 'Ultimate Margarita' tasted like straight up lime syrup and I'm no rookie with my margarita! It was remade with another long wait. We had to ask twice when our table would be ready as it was approaching 9:00 pm. Once we were seated, the table behind us was talking with the manager and it was very clear to hear the conversation, especially when the guest told the manager "she was such a bitch" (in context ... referring to someone else, not the manager). Not long after, the manager was talking to another table of 4 diners on the other side of us addressing a complaint of food service. We opted to remain optimistic but sadly, Chart House proved us wrong! The service was mediocre, water glasses were refilled but our wine glasses left empty only for us to pour. After the initial pour of wine, we were left to pour our own wine the entire evening! My medium prime rib came out looking freshly carved off the beast and so gross looking it turned my stomach!!! I told the waiter (who was not our original waiter), not to bother placing the plate on the table and to just return it to the kitchen .... I had lost my appetite!!!! The photos below (left) depicts the prime rib from their gallery of photos and (right) shows what was served to me! Our first waitress appeared to be close to tears and quite flustered. We would constantly see the manager talking to to the wait staff and at one point one waitress walked away from the manager with the the manager loudly calling to her "come back here" but the waitress kept walking. Tension felt high in the restaurant and the service suffered which in turn made this for the worst dining experiences at this once awesome restaurant. My husband ordered in advance the 'Lava cake' so he was served his desert after his main. Our waitress showed up at our table at 10:20 pm with check in hand and said "anything else I can get for you?" I was never asked if I wanted desert nor were either of us offered coffee.
