Stopped in with family while in town. FOOD: Nomad Bites food truck had some very good pub fare...Burger, Ch. sandwich and a special- Short rib fries, served with a friendly smile. SERVICE: Friendly husband/wife owners were very chatty and had some friendly workers there as well. AMBIANCE: Industrial Park location, with some outdoor seating/games. Small interior with comforting decorations and carpentry. Good selection of merch. Live band was a bonus. Just an OK rating because there are too many beers to choose from and in trying some of their standard flagships, I found hardly any of them were above average. Liz, a brewery specialist was our server and let me try the only available CT white wine available on this visit. The wine wasn't special but good. Really nice assortment of beers. I visited not long before Christmas so there were a fair number of seasonal winter options, and I went with those. That said, my parents aren't as adventurous, so they went with the staples (mostly lagers). That we were all able to find something good is a testament to their variety. I really liked that the owners were behind the bar. That really seemed to add to the vibe, and they were very attentive. The tap room isn't fancy but doesn't need to be. Charter oak was a nice experience and I'll probably come back, but it was about average as far as local brewery's go. The ambiance was very nice, they have a main tap room and then they have seats out near the tanks. They also have live music which is awesome. The decor is nice and the vibe is chill. The people are very nice, prices are good, and they also had board games which is a plus! The only downside was the beer, not all the beer but some of it. The English Ales and the IPAs were awesome and I was very happy with them, but the lagers and other ales had a skunky taste. Nothing about this place was "bad", but there are better beers in the area. I'll give them one thing though, the presentation of the flight was adorable! My wife and I came by for a Sunday Brewery Brunch and it was wonderful. Charter Oak partnered with Mothership on Main delicious food and dynamite beer. The service was excellent. We enjoy sitting at the bar and Charter Oak didn't disappoint - as visitors, we really enjoyed talking with Scott and Michelle about beer, Danbury, and current events. I came for the 1687 Brown Ale and left as an even bigger fan of the range of beer Scott brews, including my favorite styles like Rauchbier and Doppelbock. Let me add how much we enjoyed the spread put on by Mothership om Main. Really hearty, tasty offerings like chicken pot pie, several quiches, and everyones favorite pastries - ours were the Morning Glory Carrot Muffin & Cheddar Scone. Great atmosphere really delicious beer especially the strawberry IPA. Owners are really cool the Food Truck didn't show up on this rainy day so the owners wife was feeding everyone her home made banana bread which was delicious. The bands play in the brewery area on rainy days we got to sit in the brewery because the tap room was full. How cool is that? After visiting a couple of bars in the area this one seems to be the classiest and on top of their game. They even sell cool Hawaiin shirts as souvenirs If your looking for a brewery in the area I say try this one first and then compare the others to this place to see the difference! I can't say enough good things about this brewery! We were visiting for a wedding and found this through Yelp. The employees are so kind - making suggestions based on what we liked, giving us samples of other beers and even giving us complimentary homemade zucchini bread! Very neat brewery and I'm glad I started my mini-brewery tour of the area here. I got a flight of 4 of well-made brews. Nothing out of the ordinary style-wise but good beer nonetheless. My favorite was actually a brown ale I took home in cans. The space itself was very clean and still looks like new space. Parking was very easy on a Friday afternoon. While in town for a friend's wedding, my boyfriend and I had a bit of time to kill before the afternoon ceremony. We found Charter Oak Brewing Company on Yelp and decided to give them a try. We arrived right after they opened on a Saturday afternoon and were warmly greeted by Michelle, one of the owners. She and her husband, Scott, run Charter Oak Brewing Company. They were so kind, attentive, and engaging during our time there. We started out sampling a few different beers before settling on our choices; I opted for a wheat beer and my boyfriend got a flight. All of their pints are $7 - regardless of which beer you order - which we thought was great! Their flights are typically 4 pours for $10, but Michelle was awesome and gave my boyfriend a 5th pour to try out. While we enjoyed our beers in their cool, modern space, Michelle and Scott took the time to get to know us and tell us about the town, the history, and their story as brewers. It was such an incredible experience; Scott even gave us a tour of their facility so we could see where all their tasty beer came from. I cannot say enough amazing things about Charter Oak Brewing Company; from the beer to the hospitality (Michelle gave us snacks, including her homemade zucchini bread!), this place is the real deal. We were in town for the night for Apple picking and came across this place on yelp-- It lives up to the 5 stars! We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the owners from behind the bar. She came out to say hello, introduced herself, and shook our hands. We sat at the bar and tried basically all of the beers! They were very good and they had a nice variety of options. They also had nonalcoholic options as well as wine. They gave us chips to snack on and were very friendly. We were able to learn about the history of their opening of the brewery and what was involved in that. This is a husband and wife team who seem to work very well together and to thoroughly enjoy what they're doing. It was very refreshing and nice and relaxing. The building itself is beautiful and everything is brand new. They seem to do a lot of community events and community service out reach to the area. If you're in the local area I would highly recommend stopping by for a drink and some conversation. They also have games to play if you are sitting at the tables. read more

We went here because we knew the band that was playing. We always go to breweries when we travel. This brewery is only 30 minutes from home. We met and spoke with the owners, a husband and wife who were amazing! They are both there all the time, working, smiling, talking to the patrons. They make this place a great place to be! This is an experience and one I would surely recommend. Let's start with the beer...I'm an IPA gal, though during the winter months, partial toward a stout. COBC's stout is very good...smooth and drinkable. The browns were also good, though I preferred the stout. Now let's talk vibe and craic. This is the place. Live, chill, throwback music, inviting games, a jigsaw puzzle open to all, what I presume is a husband and wife team who could NOT have been more welcoming (without being obsequious), and...wait for it...the owner circulating with homemade cookies! COME ON!!! I am seriously a cookie kinda of person - a preferred dessert. Lovely brewery, we had such a fun time and saw live music for the first time in 15 months outside in the yard area. They had everything nicely spaced and they were very attentive even though the event drew a lot of people. I believe the owners were there and they were wicked nice, even brought out complimentary blondies for everyone in the crowd. The band was great, the beers were great as well, plenty of varieties available and they also have a blending menu which I have never seen before. They do flights as well but if you want to do one outside you'll need to snag a picnic table, otherwise it's plastic Adirondack chairs and small outdoor tables which were perfect for a drink to watch the band. Overall highly recommend, they had the band going, a food truck, and an axe throwing station all available on the Saturday we were there, overall a great experience and can't wait to go back and try their kolsh offering. The only thing they could improve would be the parking lot, not a ton of spaces available so get there early read more

I have high hopes that this will become our go-to Brew experience in Danbury. The interior is roomy and welcoming and owner and brew master Scott has 40 years experience in being quality beer. We sampled a kolsch and two brown ales. The darker brown ale was excellent, full bodied with a smooth after taste. Our visit was at the soft opening and we got a lovely tour of the facilities from Scott's cheerful wife Michelle. The attention to detail and excellence was impressive. This place has such a great vibe that you can't help but love it! The owners are some of the nicest people and the beer is always solid. Charter Oak has been around for a while but this location is relatively new. I have run across COBC over the years at package stores and tried some products at beer fests. Although I've always felt the beers in the past have been solid and well made, the ones at the tap room are often more exciting and varied.
