Lovely open space with picnic tables, barrel tables, some family formally and some 21+. Some shade, some sun. Super fun for hanging out. We came during lunch and enjoyed the food trucks. The oysters were super fresh and a good selection. Crab dip had actual chunks of crab instead of mush. The beer, wine, and cocktail selection was good. The hazy was delicious and so were the frozen margaritas. If I lived closer, I'd be there all the time. read more

This was our second time here and it was just as good as the first. The beer is incredible, the food trucks are solid every time. The lobster roll was pretty amazing and worth every penny. The staff of both the brewery and the food trucks are super knowledgeable when placing orders. It is definitely a lot busier on Sunday's but the service didn't skip a beat. There is plenty of seating whether it be Adirondack chairs for chilling or tables to devoir your food truck selection. You must, must, must put this on your radar when you are in the area! read more

I actually really appreciated the 21+ area this time, with all the kids around... beers were great, I liked the IPAs, my husband liked the sour. Really enjoyed the visiting brewery pop up and their barley wine - amazing! Oyster shack pop up was enjoyable as well (although their oysters are a bit pricy). Nice spot when the weather is good. I came on a Friday evening and was pleasantly surprised to see plenty of other families with kids. Just a heads up: if you're looking for a quiet, kid-free drink, this probably isn't the place. But if you're a parent who wants a relaxed space where kids can run around and play while you supervise with a drink in hand, this works really well. The bartenders were friendly, and while I don't drink beer, the cider was decent. They also usually have live music, which adds to the atmosphere (just check the calendar before you go). My only downside was the food truck on-site (Walrus Outpost). Service and food were not great for us - see my separate review for that. The other food truck that offered Japanese snacks or light fare was really amazing. Every thing came out perfectly and without the attitude of the folks of Walrus Outpost when it comes to ordering or any feedback on their food. Overall, a really nice, low-key place to meet friends and let the kids get some energy out, especially on a warm evening. read more

Sigh. It's 5/5 for beer, 1/5 for atmosphere, at least in the beer garden which could be more aptly named "The Playground". I have been to many, many breweries and I've never been to one that is this overrun with kids screaming, throwing rocks, and running amok, and certainly not one that's this unapologetic about it. The way it was today it really didn't feel like it was about the beer at all. They have a 21+ area tucked away in the back of the garden which is about 1/10th of the size of the rest of the area. This implies that it's the minority of people that would like to drink their $10 pint in some semblance of peace. It's also inaccessible! If you have mobility problems then you're going to struggle to even get there as you dodge kids and walk on loose stones. Forget it if you use a wheelchair. From my perspective as someone with mobility challenges it's not just a nuisance, it's a safety concern as well. I don't need kids to not exist in these spaces, but I do need some amount of decorum so I don't fear being tripped by a kid running around. That's basic decency and it's up to the establishment to lay some ground rules. It's likely better inside, but we should all be able to use and enjoy the outdoor space the same. read more

I was hesitant because their beer garden is across the parking lot from the main draft house, but they have an outside bar and a couple of food trucks set up with good food. The beers were pretty good, a nice variety on tap, and even more options at the bar inside. The bartenders were friendly, the beer garden was huge and had space for live music; the inside wasn't busy but had some space set aside for private events right in the warehouse by the vats. A nice bonus if you like swag, they had some really nice t-shirt and hoodie designs. read more

Stopped in late Sunday for a drink. FOOD: did not have any but food truck was there and looked clean and organized. Good Beers---Old Homeplace and Geobunny. SERVICE: Sat out at the Biergarten and was served by a friendly bartender. AMBIANCE: the large area of the Biergarten was overrun with kids and their parents screaming at them to stop running around. There is a small "over 21" section closer to the woods. I have nothing against kids, but they should reverse the sections and make the kid-friendly section a little smaller. Went yesterday with friends. Beer was mixed for me--IPA and maibock were great, English ale and Trappist not so much. There are multiple rooms inside, somewhat dark but not terrible. I would like to come back when the weather is better and sit outside in the Biergarten. There was a food truck, but we didn't try anything. The brewery does have chips and popcorn available inside. Live music was starting just as we had to go, so another thing I would like to go back and experience. Aside from the beer, the people working there were very nice and helpful. I was so excited to go to the Nod Hill Brewery last night. My boyfriend had tracked it down so that he could take me on a date to see a Grateful Dead tribute band. Upon entering and approaching the bar, I lamented to the bartender that I felt badly to have to order wine at a brewery. (It's not that I don't like beer; but, I have a severe allergy to it and can not drink it.) So, he poured me approximately two thimble-full quantities of wine, gave my boyfriend an n/a beer (in a can -- no n/a tap beer in the brewery is curious given the rate people are drying out these days). It was quite pricy given the quantity/quality we received (the beer was undrinkable and was eventually tossed). We meandered towards the back bar where the music was coming from. Surprisingly, no one checked our paid tickets and I guess the show was actually free. That was kind of a bummer to be out $26.00 for tickets and served less than 1/4 a glass of wine. As we made it to the back bar which held the music, we were instantly taken in by the merch table. But the merch girl clearly did not want to be there. Cranky, aloof, and tied her smartphone, she could barely spit out anything articulate describing how much the stickers cost. She was clearly and wholly inconvenienced with our cool Deadhead sticker transaction, so we turned our attention to the music. We loved it! We both find the Dead's music happy and uplifting. I love a little GDTRFB and Scarlet-Fire was such a treat! My boyfriend went to get me another glass of wine -- the first one obviously didn't last long. Having purchased it from a different bar tender, this time the wine glass was full. I wondered what happened with the first one: why the inconsistency? Since I have a disability that prevents me from standing for long periods of time, we made our way to the back bar where we noticed the folks behind the bar continuing to pour new drinks for the patrons. I looked up to see the same guy who poured me the skimpy glass of wine in the front bar and politely asked what time the bar closed. He bent down and got close to my face, looked me squarely, raised his voice over the noise of the crowd, and barked at me loudly, "FIIIIVE MINUETES AGO!" I sensed violence behind his words and intentions and my stranger-danger was instantly triggered; I had to get out of there, and fast. After refocusing from being taken so far aback by what had just happened, my boyfriend and I agreed to get out. We made out way to the front bar where I ditched my half-filled glass of wine on the corner of the front bar and glanced backward. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Stranger Danger. Not only did he intimidate us, but he also followed us from the back bar to the front bar. I thought to myself, 'that guy shouldn't be working in the hospitality business.' Perfect words for the occasion. So I turned around and said it out loudly enough so Stranger Danger could hear me. Knowing I was safe from him, I quickly walked out the door. I'd like to point out that early that day, I perused the website for Nod Hill Brewery and found their Code of Conduct: "Not Hill Brewery values the right of all employees & patrons to a harassment-free environment. We are committed to the values of respect, inclusivity & acceptance in both our workforce and the environment of our taproom, and are dedicated to providing a welcoming experience for everyone. Nod Hill is a safe place within our community for all genders, races and backgrounds. We welcome everyone to support each other & respect the differences among their neighbors. Any acts of abuse, homophobia, misogyny, racism or sexism displayed towards our patrons or staff will not be tolerated. Those who cannot respect and value their fellow people will be asked to leave the brewery." As an attorney who had done a fair amount of human rights law, I read this Code and thought this place would be such an awesome place with great music. Welcoming, peaceful, fair, kind. That is not what we experienced during our first visit there. I have to wonder why such violent behavior directed towards us. Was it because I am a woman and Stranger Danger projects his misogyny wherever he goes? Was it because my boyfriend is Latino, and Stranger Danger is a white supremacist? These are the questions I was forced to ask myself after such a toxic and violent experience. I resign that the Code is just something Nod Hill puts on their website to get people to walk in the door but no follow-through. Then staff can be as rude as they want to patrons. It was a real gut-punch to have such a fun and uplifting time listening to the Dead's songs, only to have a clearly miserable human being who calls himself a bartender try to pull all of that joy out from under us. We had planned three other outing to Nod Hill within the next few weeks. We will not be attending. And we will never to be subjected to the Nod Hill staff who grossly misunderstands the Code of Conduct for the establishment. read more

I think this place is pretty cool! They have a decent parking lot that's between their indoor brewery/tap room & outdoor beer garden/stage area. They had a food truck on either end when I came by, which was cool. I wanted to check out the music, so I got a drink from the sweet guys at the bar trailer outside. I'm a dark beer drinker and they didn't have any for the summer, but they do have a bunch of non-alcoholic beverages, too, so I enjoyed a local kombucha. My friend and I visited on a Sunday afternoon. There was a variety of patrons, including some families with kids. The space is unique, with a few different spots to sit and with different ambiance. We sat in the back room with music as well as briefly in the front, smaller game area. I appreciate the variety of beers they had. I'm a sucker for the IPAs but also loved their bourbon barrel. They don't have traditional flights but do offer 5oz pours. Our bartender was friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Easy parking options in their lot. What a great place! Love the vibe here. The outside beer garden is reminiscent of Brooklyn's Pig Beach. The outside beer garden is the best feature. Lots of young families with dogs running around, kids romping between the picnic tables, etc. all making it feel like a big family reunion picnic. So happy I was invited to the 3rd Annual Afternoon of Casts at Nod Hill Brewery yesterday afternoon. A friend invited me to attend...it was my first time there and I had a blast!!!! So many awesome and interesting people were in attendance in addition to the wonderful staff of Nod Hill. Aaron, one of the nicest young guys out there, was extremely nice when I inquired about leaving my car there overnight as well as when he had the unpleasant task of turning away prospective patrons that didn't know there was a private event. For the event there was a special raw oyster bar, but the brewery still had its food truck in full swing. I stuck with the oysters and a bag of popcorn, but the food being served from the truck looked delicious. (I just had more formal dinner plans after.) The atmosphere is casual, welcoming, and fun. It's been a long, long time coming, but I finally made it to Nod Hill Brewery to enjoy the Biergarten on what might be the last sunny, warm day of the fall. What a chill place! There were plenty of picnic tables with large, shady umbrellas. People of all ages were relaxing with beer and food. To drink, I tried the Highmeadow Saison, and it was delish. To eat, I ordered from the On the Fly food truck. In fitting with the season, I ordered the currywurst. It was a bratwurst with spicy ketchup and fries with curry powder. It was decent, but the wurst was barely warm, and the fries were nothing special. In fairness, this was a seasonal special, not their normal fare, so I would gladly try some other options another time. As we head into colder weather, I look forward to trying the taproom. It looks like a comfy, casual place to hang out. I will report back after I give it a try. read more

Nod Hill is a cool spot to hang out in. Lot's of tables and stools and their deck overhang is enclosed in winter for even more space. More importantly, there was a chill vibe here. I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon to sample a flight. Out of all their beers, the porter was my favorite. You can buy their tasting glasses but I have so many already so I passed. If I lived in the area I would absolutely drop in often. read more

I mean, who doesn't like a brewery that's in an old warehouse? It certainly isn't what it used to be. They seem to moved up to a model of maximizing profit. They have their unique selections of craft beer ranging the full scale. The pricing just got obscenely high and much more than what you'd find in Norwalk or Mystic or Stanford breweries. Little glasses, which are about double the sides of a shot glass cost $3.50. If you'd like the idea of boutique craft beer and being extremely overcharged, it's the place for you. read more

Really cool place to hang out. Good beer, good music on Thursdays, normally some tasty food trucks and of course extremely friendly staff. They have a stout out right now in cans that is SOLID! Like, REALLY good. They normally have a few different IPAs on tap, havn't had a bad one, have had a couple that stood out. There were some others that I didn't enjoy quite as much, like the blondes as well as a couple other beers that they have, but I can be super picky sometimes. I'm kind of new to the area, but this one of the few places that I've been to that I would consider going back to on a regular basis. read more

It's kid friendly and there was an entire table of kids playing on their tablets. My boyfriend got two of the IPA choices and he really enjoyed them but there wasn't too much variety for the female population, would have liked to see fruit beer or a sour beer of some sort. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was hip, yet casual with patrons wearing shorts, jeans, flip flops, nice clothes, a few kids, couples, friends... nice variety. Loved the setting, nicely decorated, door lifts for an open feel and patio that combine right into the bar. Heard birds chirping, swing set nearby. There was a side room that looked nicely decorated as well. You were also able to walk by the brewery equipment on the way to the bathroom. The bathroom was nice as well. Worth a stop in. This is a pretty fancy brewery/tasting room located off of 7. This is one of the few taprooms that I felt a little underdressed when I visited - one of the things we like to do is go hiking, and then visit a nearby brewery. So, when one is wearing muddy pants, and looking a little grungy, one can feel a little self conscious in a classy setting like this one. It's also really loud, one of the loudest breweries I've been to. All that being said, they have a pretty good lineup of beer, and they're doing different stuff. Came here on a Saturday to test some beers. Beers were tasty and they had quite a few on tap. Was pleasantly surprised that they also had other drinks like kombucha and snacks to order. In addition to the snacks they had a good truck on site. What really blew me away was their decor and the commitment to sustainability. Their facility is totally solar powered how cool!! The decor inside is laid back and I could see hanging out here for a few hours with friends. They have a small patio but was pretty full with other guests- wish is was larger!
