Same experience as many others who left reviews here. The banker doesn't serve you opening or closing accounts when you have no appointments. (the banker had no customer at that time ). Even though I told them I lost my checkbook and needed to close the account, they insisted me make an appointment for next week. I had never experienced that when I went to the Union City Decoto branch. The Union city branch is always helpful. Chase needs to fix this Castro Valley branch up. read more

Literally just walked out of Chase bank from Doris's office. I can't express how GRATEFUL and SATISFIED I am with her friendliness, swiftness, professionalism, and overall how she went above and beyond to help me. *I want to thank the teller at the front who helped me as well -- sorry I didn't catch her name, she had a nose piercing* First off, I want to thank you Doris, for being so kind to take me in RIGHT BEFORE your appointment. You asked me what I was there for, assessed my needs and justified that it wouldn't take long to get what I needed done and invited me into your office. While Doris was on the phone getting information I needed for my Business account, her client had showed up which I was unaware of until she got off the phone. Doris could have gave a nasty look, could have huffed and puffed, could have even rushed me out... BUT NO! Doris politely said, "oh my appointment is here, let me scan your documents, I'll be right back" as she left her office, Doris greeted her appointment and said "I'll be right with you" Doris swiftly came back poised and handed me my documents. Says open till 4 pm on Saturdays. But actually closes at 2 pm. Should update the wrong info. Wasted my time today.

Not that this review will surprise anyone that has ever been to a major bank. Here goes. Full disclosure we did not have an appointment to set up a new account but we arrived at 12:15 pm and asked to be added the the waiting list for an open banker. We advised them we were willing to wait all day as getting a day off from work during the week is a challenge. As we are waiting, the available banker came and asked for me so she could help us. She then saw someone else waiting and doing the right thing I said I think they were here first. They had not gone and added themselves to the list so not sure when they arrived. We had no problem letting the other customer go first. After waiting another 30 minutes we were informed that they would not be able to help us because it was lunch time and too many appointments. I have never in my life been turned away from opening an account with a bank. So we went across the street and Fremont Bank was very kind and was willing to take my money even though they were short staffed. I'm going to cancel both of my Chase Sapphire cards as well. I know most people don't read these reviews when opening bank accounts but I hope someone sees this and takes their money elsewhere. Cheers read more

Care for customers could be improved here. I went in today to withdraw money from the ATM and asked the security guard if I could use the bathroom. He kindly told me he knew where they were but had to ask if customers were allowed to use them. He asked a lady for me who then said that it was for customers only and customers needed to be let in by their banker. I told her I just used the ATM and she denied me. I think it's rude to not allow a customer to use the bathroom, she could have helped me but decided not to. Also, I'm pregnant which only adds to how upsetting this is. Ridiculous. read more

i made an appointment to see why i received an email at 1:00am pst time to say that i deleted my phone number associated with my zelle. i had to scratch my head and ask why should i be up at 1:00am doing such? then i make the appointment at the c.v. branch to see the branch person named michaeal who had helped me before to stand there and be asked several times why i was there, all the while michael had not one person in his cube until his asssociate started to talk through their cubicles and then walked in his cube to giggle and conversate. i was dumbfounded to be very honest. i was asked again why i was there and i then thought what a serious disrespectful was of treating someone whoes done busniess there for several years. i walked out and now my account is frozen with no explanations from any over the phone client services members other than we dont want you business and you must wait for your investigation and your funds to be released? one thing i did learn here is that "never put your eggs in one basket!!". they are all over the internet for doing aweful things to their clients for silly unexplained issues that can easily be resolved. read more

Worst banking experience ever, and obviously the worst of Chase. Sending a wire requires an appointment at this place? Unheard of. I came in on a Wednesday 3:30pm trying to schedule a wire transfer for tomorrow morning. There were three tellers behind the counter and 5 bankers in their cubicles. The teller told me: "oh, you need to make an appointment to send a wire. There is nobody can help you right now. Anyway, the wire won't be sent till tomorrow. Why can't you come back in the morning?" First of all, never heard that sending wire requires appointment (it is not even an option on Chase website for scheduling an appointment). Secondly, how can they assume "coming back again" is not a big deal? I talked to another person (seems like a manager), same answer, "sir, you can wait, but it may take 30 minutes or more for someone to help you". Eventually I went to another Chase branch in Montclair. The teller behind the counter scheduled the wire for me within 10 minutes. AVOID this Castro Valley Chase at all cost. I think they are either lazy, or just try to make you talk to a banker so they can upsell you something. read more

Walked in 10:00am no one person even said welcome and there was 5 people in cubicles at desks two were talking to someone. Not even one other customer in the whole place. So I stand there for a minute or two looking for the sign in sheet and then go up to A register and let them know I need to talk to one of the banker people real quick. She pulls out her iPad and starts trying to book me an appointment, is having difficulties but Finley does it. She then tells me it would be a hour before I could talk with one of the five people sitting alone in their cubbies. Its Obvious Chase is trying its best to not help its customers. Went in on July 1st to make mortgage payments. Because THEIR systems were down we were told to try back in an hour. Went back a couple of hours later, systems were still down. We're told they couldn't take the payments. I have NEVER experienced where a bank won't take a payment because their systems were down. (I worked for a bank for 44 years). When I went back the next day I asked for the payment to be back-dated and they said they couldn't do that because 'technically' I didn't make the payment in the 1st! Unbelievable!!!! read more

Hands-down. Cindy is the best teller I've had at this Chase. I come here often, since I live down the street. When I walk in, some of the bankers greet me, but not all the time. Other tellers are just mainly professional, but not so friendly as Cindy is. Of course, I'm just coming to a Chase Bank to do some business, but being a little more friendlier/making someone's day, would be a big difference. I had a fairly positive experience at Chase Livermore. I went in to open an account and waited around 10 minutes for someone to help me. Brian was very thorough in giving me all the information I needed regarding the accounts I was opening and was also very friendly. If I were to give Brian a rating, it would be a 5/5 Star Review. However, one thing I noticed at Chase Livermore was the lack of awareness of the employees/tellers that worked there; it seemed like they didn't care about customer service because they were chatting with each other while customers were waiting in line or waiting to be helped. read more

I've been a loyalist to chase bank with multiple business accounts but after so many disappointments I think it's better to take my money somewhere else. These bankers are not friendly, helpful and lazy. Helllooo?? You are holding on to our money with no interests. We're not asking for free money or free services. Can only get help from them, not very good anyway, if one drops in, on the phone or online forget it! Really terrible management services. Customer is the one paying their expenses why would you not have services available. Oh yeah, money making business. The phone system, automated, is awful. You cannot get a department needed there, such as what time they close. They moved the hours to cut down or whatever reason, a very thought chore for those of us who are working to get there and, on their web, have hours to be determined or something to that affect. One can tell they cut down on employees, not good for a customer service. Wonder if they are making the money, they want too by cutting employees. Maybe they should hire, like so many other companies do, foreign countries to answer the phone. At least, after waiting or getting a call back you can talk to a live, I mean, live individual. Bad Stuff! I am going to go to somewhere else to avoid this problem by the end of this month or quickly. For me to take my time to put something down to evaluate this business is sad enough! Came into chase with no bank account but I had someone that has a chase account to cash my check the lady said she needs us to both sign and she needs to scan it to see if it will go through .... She scanned it and ending up cancleling the endorsement put the stamp on it because the money would not be on the card till 2 weeks I was fine with the cancellation but I went to 5 different banks after to cash it they would not cash my check because she had stamped it and written on it .the employees do not care if they mess up your checks to be able to take it somewhere else . read more

What's the low reviews about!? Management must have changed recently because I am honestly happy with Chase. I come to chase once a month to pay my car note and although I dread coming to this location its not bad. I come on Saturdays (so that can make a big difference) but when I'm rarely not even waiting in line. Its less then 5 minutes and I walking back out with my receipt. The chase is location right across the street from Safeway, with Chevron gas station on the right of the building and Lucky's in the same plaza. There is also a very good breakfast restaurant and a Mexican restaurant in the same plaza. Lots of parking!! A+ for that! I have been to Chase in the Redwood City area and I feel that location is so unprofessional and see a big difference when I came to this location. Staff are very nice and also pleasant and helpful. I am actually thinking about banking with Chase since Bank of America is not really pleasing my needs but I want to wait till I pay my car off to do so. read more

Went todaay and tried to set up a college checking account, they said I couldn't because I turned 18 TWO DAYS AGO. they said they couldn't do anything for me b/c i didn't have a drivers license. I wasn't that mad, but the guy that helped me was rude so i got really mad. & i'd like to mention that it was a hot summer day, and they didn't want to turn on their AC. It was warmer in the bank than outside! Anyway, I already had a savings account there and my dad got mad too, so we closed all of our accounts with chase. The man asked why we were so upset, and told us that if we went to any other banks, they wouldn't be able to open up an account for me. My parents and I went to Wells Fargo across the street, I am now equipped with a college savings account with Wells Fargo :) Oh and the teller that gave us our money, was extremely rude! Formerly the slowest bank in Castro Valley, now one of the two fastest. Once I brought a $350,000 check to the branch. An officer refused to cash the check. That might annoy some customers, but not me -- at least, not on that occasion. I knew the check implicated an Internet scam based in Japan (or pretending to be based there). What I didn't know was, how would the scammer profit by sending me such a princely sum. The officer took the time to explain in detail how I could have ended up in bankruptcy if she'd let me cash the check. Thanks to her, I'm still solvent. read more

Both the branch and the 800# for Chase took hours of my time just to order new checks. They have told me that there was an address change on the account when there hasn't been a change in 10 years, then they say no, it was the phone number change - but wait, the bank told me that the phone numbers weren't correct on the account. Our address AND phone numbers have not changed for both my residence and the residence of the VP of the over the past 10 years we have been managing the HOA. I don't know what is going on with the management of this bank, but I'm not comfortable here anymore. Sloppy record keeping, poor customer service and I'm the one doing all the work to ensure we have proper business account information on our checks, deposit slips & account. In this amount of time I've spend on this issue, I could have opened an account at another bank. Now that will be a wise investment of my time after this mockery of banking customer service. read more

Terrible service by the teller Anna. I was in today to withdraw some money and she treated me like a criminal. As a result, I closed my account. I have never had an experience like that. Typically I love Chase but today I left highly disappointed. I will probably return as this location is convenient and I still have credit cards here but I highly suggest training the staff. Beware!!! Check your bills with tellers inside with their MONEY CHECKING MACHINE!!! Withdrew some cash inside with teller and left the Chase, went to Wells Fargo to deposit it, then one of my bills stuck and not deposited, got inside Wells Fargo tried to deposit, teller says bill is counterfeit and they are not allowed to give it back to customer. Back to Chase and they said they can't do anything, once i am out of Chase with my money, they don't care! They don't check the moneys they receive even they say check it. Worse bank by far!!! Came to open a new business account a few weeks ago and they gave me the worse service ever. I have been a customer for over 10 years with business accounts, credit card and car loans with them. They do not value their customer at all. When I opened my new business account I was informed that I was pre approved for a business card and all they had to do was process it. I didn't need a card but I went for it anyways. After processing it, they told me I was declined but they didn't know why. They gave me the runaround for 2 days and ran my credit twice. They said it was a system glitch and the data showed that I applied in a country outside of the US. WTH!!! Unless Castro valley California is another country outside the US, I have no idea why it would show that. Anyways I just gave up on trying. Today I had another issue. I deposited a check on 8/26 and it was scheduled to be released on the 8/29. I came in today on 9/6 to get a cashiers check for a deposit of my new business location. I was informed that my fund was not available and that Chase extended the check hold until 9/7 without any notice to me at all. I provided evidence that my check had already cleared out of my account from where I wrote the check over a week ago on 8/29. Even with that information, they refused to release any of my funds. I am now stuck with no funds to use for my lease deposit and may lose my lease for my new business. I have been in the banking industry for over 20 years and I have never seen service this bad from any bank. I was stupid enough to make another large deposit today before I found out about the check hold issue. But once my holds are released (probably another month), I will close my account and go elsewhere. It's unbelievable that this bank does not give a crap about their customers. Look at all the negative review. They don't even bother to respond to any of them. We need to hold these banks accountable and take our business elsewhere where we will be valued. Recently the tellers said they were short on coins. So today I lugged in $500 worth of quarters (extremely heavy to carry!!) only to be be told they cannot accept it because there is no room in their vault!!! They have told me the same thing in the past. So what am I supposed to do with my coins? Isn't that what banks are for?!!! They must have a VERY SMALL vault! I went there for adding my name to my husband s' joint account. First time , we drove there in a very heavy rain. They told me my driver's license is not good enough to be an ID, they need my passport. As a matter of fact, it didn't indicate on the website. OK, as a foreigner, I take it. Then I ask the staff, do I need to do any other preparation next time? He said no. The second time, My husband arrive there at 4:30, half an hour before they closing. I was rush there at 4:40. The manager said he can not help us because there is no staff help us and they need 40 mins to just add a name on an existing account. They should have tell us before we come the second time, and they don't even feel any sorry for waste two of our working time twice. A manager in chase bank is just standing there for doing nothing? So bad service. So unprofessional. Disappoint. They are very discriminate me  as not being a citizen. I will take my money out to another better bank. read more

I needed to open a checking account and chose CHASE Bank. Why? For their signature blue lighting to be honest. Am I shallow? Am I stupid? Yep. I strolled in to a clean well organized layout and was greeted by two friendly-faced tellers. I noticed they were imprisoned by a huge slab of plexiglass. Like what they caged Magneto with in The X-men movie. It was something to marvel at really. Crystal clear and stretching from end to end on the countertop. One teller asked if I needed help and I told her I needed to open a checking account. Then I asked her if she could bend metal with her mind. She didn't get it but laughed anyway. nice. I helped my self to a complimentary sucker from a candy bowl as she flagged down another friendly lady. A Private Client Banker (whatever that means) that directed me to an office off to the side and we were seated. She typed in my information and I told her I was going to deposit $1000 and use the account to pay bills online. There was a problem, of course. My driver's licence and Social Security Card didn't qualify as 2 forms of ID. She didn't want me to leave but we decided that I had to return home and get my vehicle registration paper. A DMV printout is way more credible than a silly SS card I found out. Before I left I quipped, "You know, there's probably 2 or 3 banks between here and my home." and she said, "Yeah, but they're all the same." I asked her "What's different about this bank?" She said there were coupons or incentives that they give for opening a new account. "Up to $100." "Hmmm, OK I'll be back." I said. To make a long story longer, when I got back we chose the checking account that was right for me and guess what? There were no coupons, gift cards or incentives for me. My initial feeling was that I should go jump in that candy bowl with the other suckers but then I just laughed. It's not that big of a deal, really and I'm not out anything, right? My customer experience is a little tainted because she knew I wasn't going to be signing up for a premium account or what ever it was that qualified me for their gifts. Eh, maybe I shouldn't complain because overall, I got what I came for... that and a $4.95 monthly fee. yeah, whatever. read more
