I liked the fact they did not have to check ID to see if I was a customer, etc. Some banks really give you a hard time just to make change, WHY?!?! Atmosphere - Good size location. Plenty of parking. Definitely bigger than they probably need. Plenty of tellers (3), and 4 self service machines. You must do some major volume here?!?! Service - 5 Stars, Overall easy in and out. The second time was the wrong day but while I saw many people standing around or walking around none were available to help. After speaking to the mgr who was very defensive I gave up. I went into this location to try to solve a money wire issue and they couldn't solve it and instead told me to wait 7 days. 7 days in business is a long time. My conclusion is that the staff here are not well trained or equipped to solve problems. Ended up being a total waste of my time going there. Plenty of parking options on the side of the street or the parking lot in the rear. Visible spacing markers on the floor. Multiple open windows for a Wednesday. Clean bank. Very nice and hospitable bankers to answer any questions. Was given a beeping device to wait for my turn. They asked me to wait in my car or outside until it was my turn to be seen by a banker to open an account. Wasn't a long wait time at all. Less than 8 minutes and my device was already lighting up. Bankers are obviously not busy, no customers, they are walking around or chatting with each other and yet no one wants to help. New staff that doesn't care about customers not sure if they still have the manager but it reflects a terrible manager. This branch was doing really well until very recently the staff were kind expedient and dilligent in their duties. However, yesterday the staff looked like they had all been replaced. I come here at least twice a month and almost no one was recognizable. That alone was weird, but I figured covid or promotions happen so it shouldn't be a big deal. Boy was I wrong. After waiting over a half hour of being in line I was finally ready to head out. As I was about to walk out the back door, these two new employees were like "Sir, you have to go out this door because we are closed now." I looked at the door and without missing a beat looked at them and said, "Are you kidding? I am disabled, I use that door because it is the automatic door and park right outside of it so I don't accodentally trip and hurt myself on the street side. Couldn't you just unlock it for a second and let me out?" After they stupidly and illegally pretended like that wasn't an option. With an "um yeah, no" attitude. I asked them for their names, told them they are lucky, I dont just break the door and walk through it and walked out. Then I called corporate, put on my best old white business owner act and told them that I was denied equal access to entrance and egress even after identifying myself as handicapped and told them the names of the two new employees and said if I don't hear back from someone about this in two weeks I will be closing all my accounts and you will be hearing from my lawyer. I have been banking at this facility for a long time. Today I used the ATM to withdraw money to go grocery shopping right down the street at Pac N Save. I was followed from Chase to the store and as I was getting out 3 black men in masks pistol wip me and said I just saw you get money out and continue to robb me. Lucky to be alive. Police came and we made a report. So being I just withdraw money from that bank and they watched me maybe the bank has some kind of perversions for this kind of situation and could help the client in recovering my lost. No luck. So I would advise people to watch out when using the outside ATM. Security inside is great. They need inclose area so no one can see if you made a withdraw or deposit. Positives: came in on Saturday between 12-1pm, and only 1 person was in front of me! Asked the rep a question about automatic payment transfer for statement balance payoff for a Visa card, and followed up with foreign currency conversion pickup. Negatives: a shocking disappointment was that Chase never notified me this time around about the readiness of my foreign currency to pickup. It was after 5 business days and NOT A WORD. I've been with the same branch since it was Washington Mutual, but something happened the other day that made me decide to move my accounts. I recently came into 50K and was waiting with others to meet with a banker to set up a savings account. There was an older gentleman who had been waiting for 10 minutes already when I had arrived. An employee comes out and tells him that due to the bankers appointment with another customer, (which wasn't for another 30 minutes) that he couldn't be seen. This is after he had already been waiting. He told her that he only needed maybe 10 minutes of their time, tops, but they still refused to see him. At that point, I crossed my own name off the list and walked out. I will be back to close my account and take my money to a bank that understands customer service and basic decency. read more

Received a letter from Chase instructing me to go in person to update trust information (I'm the executor of the trust). Tried calling the branch to make an appointment and to ask what documentation I would need to bring but they never answer their phones at this branch. I went in person and was told I'd have to make an appointment (was offered an appointment a week out and only 1 time slot). I told them why I was there and said I could show my ID, and answer the 3 questions in the letter in 30 seconds, but still no. I asked if someone could tell me what documentation I might need to bring for my future appointment. They said no, I needed to make the appointment to find out. Told them I didn't want to come for the appointment only to find out I needed to bring something else and have to come back. They said that wouldn't happen but there was no explanation. Then a banker who was "too busy to see me" came out of her office, and told me to make an appointment. I expressed my concerns again with more frustration and she said "I'm trying to be professional." I told her I could show her my ID and write the answers on the letter for her to process when she had time, but again I got the same answer. I left in great frustration and will never return to this branch and am not even sure I will continue banking with Chase. However, after half a dozen attempted calls to the Montclair branch, someone answered, I explained what I needed, and she told me that if there were no changes since the trust account was set up, I could just ignore the letter! This would have been very helpful information to have gotten at the E.14th Street branch and would have saved the banker from having to try "being professional"! I gave it a 4 star ! why not 5? here's why ?? 1. The lines here esp around saturday can be really long, you have to give yourself atleast 15 to 20 mins of waiting in line just to get to a teller. They have been pro- active with expediting with the long lines by asking everyone what exactly do they need. Also, there is one point were I was trying to cash out a bank of america check, granted I have no account with chase, they refused to honor that check and was told to go to any BofA branch and cash it there. Other than that, this particular chase is alwasy there when I need them. ATM at front, when I asked for coin wrappers, and I do ask for a lot, they always give me plenty, and go back to them to exchange those coins ( wrapped in coin wrappers), they are always welcoming and always ready to help. I am sure the lines is almost the same as other banks in the area, but they are pro-active with lines. read more

I used to go to the Chase further up the street in Oakland until they closed it down. In preparation for more customers, the Chase in downtown San Leandro decided to close several teller windows and replace them with ATM's. Today the line was almost to do the door when I arrived at 11 am. I was #27 in line, and it took about 30 minutes before I could see a teller to deposit a check into my brother in laws account. Very frustrating when you have two Chase employees repeatedly encouraging you to use the ATM's. I continuously told them that I had to do my transaction with the teller. For the volume of clients this bank seems to have, I would greatly appreciate them staffing more tellers. read more

Never anybody actually working here. Everyone stands around to watch the customers line up. No tellers actually doing teller work, we have to line up to do it all ourselves. If I wanted to use an ATM I would have stayed outside. I don't want to work at the bank. I want customer service at the bank. I have 2 personal accounts and a business account and yet I still have to be the Chase Employee too. Telling me to have a nice day, after I had to walk in, wait in line, handle my deposit myself, is pretty much like telling me to fuck off. You could have been working the window Miss. Chase Employee, not standing there playing tour guide. I'm the customer, not the employee. I've banked there for 10 years and have 3 direct deposits in my accounts every month. If you need any help with your account I highly suggest going to a different branch. I have been a customer since what is now Chase was Great Western. Through the ups and downs, I have always trusted them. But not now. This branch has mis-managed the 1,000 safe deposit boxes. The original signature cards for them "disappeared", so they sent the customers letters threatening to remove the contents of our boxes, even though we paid the rental fee. After numerous attempts to call the branch, I finally filed a complaint with the 800 number. THEN they called me. I did manage to retrieve my contents, which was a relief. But they confiscated the original letter with the threat, didn't provide any paperwork confirming closure of the box, nor did they stop the automated annual box rental fee. And, once again, no one answers the phone. The branch manager is abrupt. He likes to burden and blame the customer. He told me that they would not remove contents, but said that in the letter (the letter they confiscated) to scare customers into going to the branch to complete (another) signature card. To me, such scare tactics with lies are unethical. Since filing my complaint, I have closed out of online banking. There have been too many questionable incidents for me to regain confidence in the ethics of this bank. read more

The "security guard" on duty to prevent the Farmers Market attendees from parking there doesn't do his job. Straight up. I got there today, and the lot was full. I was told to park in the driveway along the fence by the entrance on Parrott Street. There was barely room for me to park. If he was doing his job, there would be plenty of parking. I've seen it before. It IS possible. It's already limited thanks to the market. He's not helping anything! I am still trying to add the new treasurer for our business account with them. They told us last time we simply needed the minutes of our last meeting showing me as the outgoing treasurer and my associate as the incoming. So we got the forms they asked for came in and we found out we need to have the secretary there now. we now need to come again and i am stuck being the treasurer way past my term simply because they don't know what they are doing. it was nice for their manager to apologize but the fact remains they should know their own processes and requirements to make changes. i would also like to point out that these changes and requirements seem to be all new. we have had this account since 1994 and were never hassled like this before. This review is regarding their outdoor ATM's. Let me start off by saying that the other reviewers are correct by saying this location is busy! But I understand; there aren't too many Chase Banks around the surrounding area. With that said, I was upset to find that one of their ATM's was out of order. I got lucky and I was the first one out of my car when a large rush of people showed up. I practically fast jogged to a line 2 people deep. As people exited their cars, I was now than part of a 8 person line. And this was only in front of one of the machines. The other machine had a line just as long. Worst banking experience EVER! EVER! First of all, I love Chase, especially the SOMA branch on King Street. Bobbie, Jeremy and Josh are great. Personable, yet professional. But I digress . . . So I walk into this branch on Friday, February 6th and wait in line. I make a deposit with the woman at the counter, (I learn later that she's the manager) and she's almost dismissive in her demeanor. She processes the transaction and gives me the, "Buh Bye". When I tell her that I have an inordinate amount of change in my handbag and would like to deposit it. I could literally feel her eyes rolling back. We get through that one major hurdle in her day when I realize I have another check to deposit. I was hesitant to incur her wrath so decided to deposit the check in the deposit drop box which was no more than four feet away. Fast forward to the next day (Saturday): I get a call at nine-ten in the morning from my contractor that there weren't enough funds in the account to cover the check I issued for him and his crew! WHAT? I log on and lo and behold no check deposited. I call the branch and speak with Lisa, the assistant manager. She is extremely apologetic and states she will look into it and will call me back. It's now Monday and I have yet to receive a call. So I call. Lisa informs me that they still can't find the check. Okay. She states she will escalate the matter to her manager. Okay. I receive a call from her manager, Alma Pacle. She states that she remembers our interaction and confirms that she saw me approach the drop box. Okay-so now that we've established that, I ask her what steps she's taking to research the matter. She states that she's going to re-check for every single transaction for the dollar amount of the check. Well, let's see, if you already checked the transactions for that dollar amount, wouldn't it be prudent to check for every single transaction done through the drop box after my initial transaction? Nope-not going to do it. That's just crazy talk! Now mind you, I'm not asking her to check every f-ing transaction that day. Nooo-I'm just asking her to review the deposits made through the drop box, and just THAT drop box, after 3pm on February 6th. She made me feel like I was psychotic. I expressed my disappointment and advised her that I was going to contact her corporate offices. This is where it gets really good boys and girls. She literally spits out her name, Alma, spelling out the letters of her last name for me in rapid fire succession. P-A-C-L-E. You get the idea right? That's right-she went civil servant on me! Extremely arrogant and cavalier. The whole, "You can't fire me attitude". I would expect this from some DMV clerk, not from the manager of a bank-someone who is in a leadership position and someone who is supposed to lead by example in a SERVICE based environment. Fast forward 11 days after my visit to the bank: What? What's this? Some extra money in the account? Looks like someone found that "lost" check. But guess what? No explanation. No call or letter of apology for their "oversight". Amazing! In the meantime I had to transfer money from my home equity line to cover the "lost" check. Not to mention the time and frustration I spent contacting the issuer of the check, the government-ya, try getting ahold of them, calling corporate, following up, etc. What a total waste of time and what an excellent exercise in frustration. I can forgive the issue with the "lost" check-things happen, but the manager's arrogance and rudeness is unacceptable and inexcusable. So if there's anyone that misses that DMV experience, since they are now cutting office hours, head on down to Chase in San Leandro on East 14th Street. You can wait in line and get a fistful of attitude too! Just like at the DMV! P.s. If you haven't already guessed it, I would give this location zero stars if I could. read more

My first bank account was opened when I was 15 years old. I opened it with a bank called, "Great Western." They were later bought out by Washington Mutual who became known as "WAMU". I have banked with them for over 8 years. Now Chase has taken over and I can already feel the difference in service. I do not blame this on my local branch or any other branch or customer service represenatives. The blame is completely on the bank itself and its blatant robbery of their customers!!! Since Monday was a holiday (Columbus Day) all transactions from the weekend did not go through until Tuesday. I had rented a car which put a $400 hold on my card but returned the car on Sunday and the company refunded me the difference. On Tuesday Chase posted all my transactions from the weekend except the credit from the car company (they did post the original amount $400) which than conveniently overdrew my account. On top of that they posted the transactions so that the first one to post was the $400 so that anything posted afterwards would be overdrawn which landed me with EIGHT (8) overdraft fees. That is $33 x 8 = $264. That is more than all the transactions posted! None of my local representatives could do anything about it because they have no authority to do so. I am writing to the corporate office, if for anything, to complain but hopefully get my money back. I plan to move banks next month. I find the whole situation blatant robbery! There is no reason I had to be charged for 8 overdraft fees. I am told they have no control over how the transactions post, but they certainly can see it benefits themselves and not the customer. I think it is a criminal act! No sympathy for the devil! read more
