Tikka delicious sauce but not a lot of chicken
    Bridgette S.

Solid 3.5 2 friends sharing a meal. Naan basket was yummy. All flavors were great. Fresh. Better than Zeera. Tikka masala chicken was good but very little meat. Delicious sauce. Once extra rice was purchased I was able to fill up. Zeera has morequantity. For a tiny side of spicy mango pickle the price was high and most of it was inedible. You have to pay extra for relish tray. Zeera does not charge. Customer service was odd. Waiter seemed shocked we were sharing and kept saying "that's all?" It was off putting. Good food so I will try the weekend buffet but I am not in a rush to come back.

My mom and I dined at Chaska on a Sunday for lunch and the experience was just okay. We both opted for the buffet which was a good option to try different things but was not worth the price for us. Next time I'll have to return for dinner to check it out a few of their menu items. If you are looking for an Indian option around the area it's an option.

Came for a weekday lunch which doesn't include their buffet but their menu options were plenty. The bread basket was perfect and left me and a friend with left overs. I liked that they offer a spice level for every entree. I usually order a fried cauliflower dish at Indian restaurants but the aloo gobi was still full of flavor. The jalapeño spring rolls were more like cream jalapeño cheese rolls but I enjoyed them to my surprise. I'll definitely be back for the weekend lunch buffet!

Vegetarian Samosas cross sectionn - THE BEST

I have to start this review leading with the service! My BFF and I decided to celebrate our Christmas over dinner at Chaska. She is local to the area and has been wanting to try it. I'm driving up from Sanford so she knows that the weight is on her shoulders if not good, LOL! Our server Sai was most helpful to ask us what we like in food generally. He didn't stear us towards a specific Indian dish like, 'what would you typically order' but more general questions about flavors and spice level, proteins, etc. My BFF ordered a dish that was very new to her. I got Curry because I love Curry! We also order the Vegetarian Samosas which were the BEST! I've ever had!! Sai helped us with the spice levels depending on how how we thought we could go. My BFF got 10 because she loves things hot and I ordered Mild to Medium, which I found out later was a 6 but I'm not sure because my curry was not spicy at all. Anyway, the Bread Basket was also a hit! Loved the variety. As for entrees, the Chicken Rogan Josh at a level 10 was very spicy that my BFF said she may need to temper it down next time and I have NEVER heard her say that! LOL My Curry was flavorful but it didn't have any coconut essence to it like I usually get from Curry. This was actually a bonus for my BFF because she doesn't like coconut thus she doesn't eat Curry in most restaurants. She sampled mine and liked it with the exception of the mild to medium spice level; I think she is trying the Curry next time! The ambiance and atmosphere was pleasant and family oriented. Finally, back to the service; they remained on top of refills and where there was a sweet tea refill when ordering an unsweet tea am apology was given but for that small of an err no worries. I think this place will be a highlight of Holly Springs if the keep up the experience we had this weekend!! One thing I forgot to share was how we do breakfast when there's leftovers. Poach an egg in the sauce!! This is what I have termed, Eggs in Purgatory, New Delhi style, so good! Check out the photo!!

It's a tiny restaurant nestled in a strip mall that has tables for dining in, although while we were there a steady stream of customers arrived to pick up their take out orders. A small basket of papadum was served with mint chutney, tamarind, and pickled onions. This was a nice touch and something that seems less and less common these days. Spinach is my favorite vegetable so saag with chicken was an easy choice. I ordered it 9 out of 10 on the spicy scale, so it while it had definitely had heat it was manageable and not punishing. It was very good and I would order it again. My dining companion ordered the Tikka Masala with lamb and not spicy. She thought it was good, but the chunks of lamb were very tough and chewy. The breads were a bit of a disappointment. My roti seemed more like naan and lacked the flakiness of traditional roti. The Peshwari naan definitely had a sweet taste, but was missing the bits of dried fruit and nut that makes it so distinctive. We both thought Basil n Spice was a 4-star restaurant, but the tough lamb and sub par breads bring it down to a borderline 3-star rating. That said, we both thought the restaurant has potential so we're going to give it another try so we can sample the Thai and Chinese dishes.

I didn't realize when I first searched nearby and found this location, but it has multiple cuisine spot. I remember thinking as I was driving over that 'man I wish she liked Indian food' because I hadn't had any in some time. Much to my delight when we got here, I discovered not only were their Thai and Chinese inspired stuff, there was a nice large selection of Indian options. She got some chicken lo main, and I got palak paneer. She got some spring rolls, and I got my favorite Samosas. I introduced her to the papadum and chutneys that were given before the meal and she was a trooper and tried them all. Food arrived, was hot, fresh, and delicious. With the samosas it was too much for me to finish my palak paneer and I'm eating it now as I type this up for lunch on Sunday. Lo mein was well liked, she doesn't have a spice tolerance though and a 3 was a bit much for her. she said the spring rolls were great, and had finished off the lomein she brought home by Saturday night. Really great place you should check it out, they do delivery and stuff, but it was great to go in somewhere in person and enjoy a meal. Not a giant seating area but plenty of room to come in sit down and enjoy stuff.

What I appreciated the most was that everything was reminiscent of their original dishes, but with innovative and delicious twists- fusion perfection. We got the: - Four Cheese Truffle Kulcha (sharp cheddar, brie, asiago, chilli, black truffle dust, truffle butter, shishito pepper): Love a good bread moment- this one was cheesy, savory, and buttery; appreciated the contrast from the shishito. Added the roasted garlic and chilli dip upon the servor's rec for an extra cost; it was good, but not necessary- I'd probably skip this next time. - Chaat Mate (purple sweet potato & crunchy kale chaat, crispy okra & tuk aloo chat): Loved this! Such cool takes on chaat, which happens to be one of my favorite Indian dishes. Really appreciated all the elements, such good diversity of flavors and textures- crispy, sweet, tangy, earthy. - Nadru Malai Kofta (lotus stem dumplings, nut based sauce, plain butter naan or steam rice): First off, such a pretty dish! The gravy was rich and creamy; the dumplings were so interesting (strong spice essence). - Nigellaseeds Chilly Olive Naan: Got this because I thought the ingredients for this naan sounded unique- it was decent naan, but nothing mind blowing, would probably skip next time. - North Meets South (elaneer payasam, ghewar, rose, hibiscus, coconut jelly, young coconut): Maybe my favorite part of the whole meal! Loved every aspect of this dessert, which seemed so separate but all came together beautifully. Not too sweet, which was great too. I've never had anything like this before. Service was great. We mentioned to our server that we were rushing to catch a show in an hour, and he was so amenable! Ambiance is really nice, definitely one of the prettiest restaurants around. There's free valet parking in the adjacent deck. 10/10 would recommend!

You can make reservations using the Yelp app, but we got there at 6pm Thursday and tables were open anyway. It filled up in about 90 minutes. Not a lot of pics in the huge menu. They have specials on certain days. After we ordered, we found out about a great deal for Thursdays. It was our fault we missed it because it was written RIGHT THERE on the menu. The lack of pics made it tough to order, though I'd had Indian many times. And the thick accents from the employees didn't help us to decide anything. Myself, I just stuck to curry. I picked mutton because I'd always wanted to try it. Yelp pics didn't help much either because few people write in descriptions what the photos are. Everything tasted amazing. They really know their food. Not to take anything away from the main dishes (I told you I loved them) but the standout for me were the fried pepper appetizers. A mix of just enough outside crunch and soft inside flavor. I'm no fan of chai tea, but I really liked theirs. The mutton was great, but I more prefer my meals without bones in them. Like with oxtails, which are routinely more skeleton than flesh, it's never a fine experience finding your bite to be a mouthful of bone. It's overrated, I promise you. The bill paying system is grossly inefficient. Tell them you want separate checks and nothing happens until the very end where everyone has to tell the server what they ordered, in a language they don't understand, mind you, and she charges everyone, one by one. It took like ten minutes to get through our party of five. It's a really bad method. Since it was my birthday, they played a YouTube video over the speakers. It was a generic "Happy Birthday To Whomever" type deal that worked fine, but they let it play for its whole fifteen minute runtime. It was cute, funny and ridiculous all at once. Wonderful food, nice servers, language barriers can be tough, and some questionable business practices still make this one a solid keeper. Just brace yourself.
