3.5-4 stars Front desk staff was friendly and helpful Room was clean and was nice having hardwood floors and not the cheap linenolium that motel 6 uses. Room was fairly updated although bathroom had not been updated but was clean and mold free. Bathroom door barely misses toilet and need to sit to the side when using it. Shower head had adjustable spray and was decent pressure. Had no issue with the WiFi. I connected when I checked in and it wasn't the strongest but was full strength in the room and I did all the normal things including stream you tube without problems. The rooms do not have AC but there was a stand fan and desk fan. My room had two windows that opened a couple inches but one didn't have a screen. Lots to do in and around hotel grounds-pool, arcade, game room, sitting area, Disc golf, playground, volleyball, open grass area, short walk to beach. I went during off season and got a discount code from their FB page so it was very reasonable. read more

This place is super budget and, and not worth the cost, no matter what discount they're offering. The rooms are sparsely furnished, and I mean sparse! The tiny fridge was loud yet didn't serve its one purpose of keeping food cold; the beds were hard and were definitely fulls, even though they are advertised as queens. There is no AC, which should be ok at the ocean, except they nail the windows shut. So not only are they too cheap to install proper air conditioning, they're also apparently too cheap to install safety measures so the windows can actually be opened to receive the ocean breezes that they claim are the rationale behind the lack of AC. And the fire pits are so close to the hotel, the smoke in the room was unbearable. The owners should be charged with a crime for using the word Chateau in the name. read more

I booked this hotel online. When I arrived I was surprised by how few cars in the lot. I now know why... It took several minutes for someone to appear at the front desk. The door was propped open, but no one was watching over those entering the hotel. The halls of this hotel are musty and dated. I got to my room and was shocked. The room had 3 exit doors, the hall door, and two to presumably different bedrooms. This was instantly unsettling. There was a very dated "kitchenette" and a fireplace that looked so out of place and unclean. It is clear someone has tried to 'flip' this hotel and update it, however that manifests in cheap linoleum wood boards over the previous flooring including in the bathroom. The old bath fixtures and shower "bath fitter" were discolored. Overall the room was dirty and made to look better with a quick fix. The room had a balcony which felt unstable, but had two chairs. Unfortunately the plastic chairs were uncomfortable and unclean. The view of the ocean is very distant, and the room overlooked a parking lot and playground. The bed appeared clean and simple, with just a mattress and visible black bed frame. The room and hotel are dated, musty and felt unclean. The overall feel of the hotel was also unsafe. I left the hotel and did not return to stay the night. When I called to report that I would be cancelling my reservation, it took 3 separate calls for someone to answer the phone (again, no one at the desk or monitoring the front door). I told the desk that I had opened the patio door and that it needed to be shut, and that I would not be returning. I was told I would receive a call from management about the cancellation fee. It has been more than 5 days and no call back. I highly recommend you stay elsewhere. The 'view' of the ocean is not remotely worth the effort or disappointment of this hotel. I do not expect to receive my money back and have wasted $188 because I felt unsafe and management refuses to communicate with me. read more

We came here about 2 years ago because we found a deal off of Groupon. I vividly remember how I wasn't that impressed with this hotel. Our room was super old and needed major updating. For about $150 a night, I would expect the rooms to be a little bigger or at least more updated. They were really dingy, kind of like motel like. The elevators worked really slowly and got back up. I remember waiting for a bit to get to our floor. The front desk person wasn't especially friendly. The view that we had wasn't that great because you're really far back from the ocean. Even with the Groupon deal, I didn't think it was really a good deal staying here. read more

We had never visited Westport and like to explore so we thought we'd give the Chateau Westport Resort a try. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very modest. Fans and extra blankets in the room. Basic tv, mini fridge, microwave, and single serve coffee maker. The bed was fair, not the best or worst. The bathroom door opens 3/4 of the way as it hits the toilet. Walls are extremely thin. We could make out every word of the conversation in the next room. The door latches well, but let's light through around the edges. There are separation cracks in the ceiling and walls with water damage marks on the ceiling. The only reason for two stars is the staff. If they had not been as nice and helpful I would've given 1 star. Great places to eat nearby. Blackbeard's Brewery is great for beers and pizza. Blue Buoy is a great breakfast spot. Surfer Girl is really good for a waffle cone with ice cream. Little Richards is the definition of a perfect donut. With the exception of Blackbeards the rest are on the marina. Cool town and we will be back for sure, just not to the Chateau Westport. read more

Other than being noisy the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the front desk was kind and the price was low. Just don't forget your ear plugs! Do not stay in room 302. The walls are paper thin. We arrived Thursday the 11th of March and checked out today the 14th. Got the 4th floor ocean view enjoyed the quiet area and the wonderful sound of the ocean! Very easy to check in, safe parking area, lots of amenities and things to do on the property highly recommend! Will be back for sure! Love seeing the history in this location and being able to enjoy the quiet area! No vacancy and there was still very quiet evenings, we did not want to dine out so we got takeout and the front desk had extra cutlery. Great service and great staff! Opened the fridge to put some food in there and found a frozen bug in the freezer, bathroom floors are unfinished as well as a large spot of weird red crust on the lower part of the sheet. Another red spot on the toilet. The toilet paper roll that was on the roller was practically gone as well. Lots of hair and dust around the room and inside the fans in the closet area. Cords all over the floor. Very unfinished feel. ALSO, you can hear EVERYTHING through the walls. The snoring is getting a bit bothering i'm not going to lie EDIT: Forgot to mention. I am very, very tired of hotels that allow large groups of people congregate right outside others' rooms and have loud, obnoxious conversations. This hotel has barbecue pits, lovely ones, in the field stretching out toward the beach. But, instead, it allows rude people have their personal barbecues right outside their rooms. This is literally the second time this has happened to me in the last two months...two different hotels ...two different sets of rude people...two different hotels afraid to enforce their own rules. The hotel is also aging and in need of an update. There was dust on the baseboards. The spare pillow smelled like dog pee. The carpet was ratty. I will say that the grounds are lovely, very much so. It extends all the way to the beach, through pine woods, grassy dunes, and fields. There were actually deer playing in the field. But, it sadly didn't make up for the distinctly unrelaxing, cigarette and barbecue smoke filled assembly of people clearly brought up to have no regard for others. For close to 200 a night,the guests deserve better. read more

Love this hotel! Older hotel but alot of updates. I go every year for an event and this year I could tell management has listened to other reviews. Breakfast is average and what is expected. We liked having hot coffee/tea when we came back from the brisk short walk to the beach. Evenings popcorn was also nice. Front staff and cleaning staff were kind. The landscape and parking area were well kept. Our room refrigerator made a little noise but most hotels do so I always bring earplugs. We had corner end with partial view of the beach and was more private. Keurig , fridge and microwave in room. This made it nice for our extended stay. Loved the beach decor on the upper lobby area and fireplace was so cozy. Some games in that area as well. We plan on coming back soon. This room has 2 additional doors that can join other rooms. Bathroom is small and door swings until it hits the toilet. Overall older hotel, clean, great location and nice staff. read more

I hated my stay here. The rates here are appropriate for 3.5 or 4 star institutions and this one isn't even a 2 in my books. I used a third party booking site (Booking.com) and it did not indicate that only a pullout bed would be included. Not the Chateau's fault, but at $200/night a Murphy bed seems laughable. After checking in, I was perusing the room when I found a diaper behind the couch along with some baby wipes. The receptionist came by to take it away but it's really an inexcusable miss for the cleaning crew. There is no dish soap available but a sign was posted indicating that there'd be a charge for any dirty dishes that require cleaning. So you know what this means: all the dishes are water cleaned only by the previous guests. Maybe some were just put back immediately after use. Breakfast was included but the selection was the worst I've ever seen. There were waffles, yogourts, donuts and not so much as a single slice of fresh fruit. I took a yogourt and a cold boiled egg and went somewhere else to fill up. I was only offered a discount off my next stay, which is incredibly lame. I definitely will never ever return. On the plus side, we seriously loved the beach that's only a 15 minute trail walk away. read more

First time I've stayed here and overall it was a nice stay, a few suggestions that would increase the rating. The staff was very friendly and helpful, large picnic area, frisbee golf, horse shoe, fire pits and they had two floaters / life jacket which our young children loved. They have a few DVDs players in the lobby they loan out, but not many. The included breakfast is a standard continental breakfast and we wished there was a meat option for protein. For someone with a gluten allergy, options were very limited. Our double queen room was nice, clean and we had a view of he water from the 3rd floor (pets are welcome on the first floor). One very frustrating issue was the lock on our door. It took several tries to get the door to latch. Maintenance did not come as we were told so each time we left our room it was a battle with the door. We would definitely come back, as the property has many outdoor perks our children enjoyed. read more

We booked our weekend through Groupon. Did not know it was going to be the Crab Derby weekend and it was a big clamming weekend as well. We shared the hotel with lots of early risers and I'm pretty sure they started breakfast at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning just for those guests. That's a nice touch. We upgraded to a fourth floor King room before we even got here because I wanted to be able to see the beach. We could see it and we could hear it. I had read reviews before coming and already was aware that the walls are thin. Boy are they ever we could hear our neighbors conversation word for word which made us more aware to try to be quiet ourselves. You can't fault the building for its age. It's been around for a while. The Wi-Fi worked great, the continental breakfast is exactly that. But they offered hard boiled eggs. So there was at least one protein option. The beach is just a short walk or drive away. It's quiet and there are no Cars like over at Ocean Shores. The sunset Saturday night was spectacular! Popcorn in the evenings was an added Plus! We opted out of housekeeping and received a credit for our next visit which we look forward to using. read more

Decided to stay here for an interview in Aberdeen the following morning. Booked through hotels.com. Upon arrival, the parking lot was completely empty which is expected for a Monday afternoon. When greeted I was excited that our room had "ocean views". The receptionist corrected me and stated it kind of has ocean views and said that the views are on the 4th floor. Then she proceeded to basically scold us that we should have called directly to book our room through them versus a booking agency because they're usually wrong. She probably told us this 4 or 5 times. Didn't apologize for the confusion, stated she was glad that it was so slow, and didn't even offer to move us to a room with a view even if we were willing to pay the difference. The hallway on the second floor had an overwhelming smell of what smelled like urine. Cobwebs and spider webs on the windows, walls, and the ceiling. The room was definitely outdated which was fine. But, the room was pretty dusty. After running my finger on the entertainment stand for the tv, there was a pretty heavy dusty residue on my finger. No AC (it didn't state it had AC, but even a travelodge we stayed in a few weeks ago had AC. The bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed we have ever laid on. We couldn't wait for morning so we could get out of bed. The pool was a nice way to cool off and even jump in the hot tub after showering of course, but the pool definitely needed more attention when it came to cleaning. The edge of the pool insides had some sort of brown soot along the edges. Bad enough that guests had started carving words into the dirt. Then came breakfast. I get that continental is meant to be a small breakfast and was surprised this place offered waffles! I love waffles. But I didn't get to have any. The waffle makers were out but weren't plugged in or near an outlet, and we could not find where they kept the batter! I would have liked to relay this information to the check out receptionist but with time constraints, it didn't happen. I'm pretty saddened that I spent $125 on this "resort". I don't consider myself a hotel snob cus you really just need a clean, comfy bed and a bathroom, right? Well, the bed IS comfy but y'all, I'm a top sheet kinda gal--there is NO top sheet and I doubt they wash the thick comforter between each guest. That grossed me out a bit. They also advertise a Continental breakfast with the room but when we checked in, nothing was mentioned about it. After asking, we were informed that due to covid, they were no longer serving it. Ok, I get that but then take it off the website! Also, I don't really understand "due to covid" unless they're short staffed? Restaurants are open. Also, we stayed at another place this summer and they brought our breakfast as takeout to our room. There are other options but it feels like they just didn't try. But seriously, if you're not gonna offer it in any way, quit advertising it! The Keurig is nice in the room but we had to ask for more k-cups as one cuppa doesn't do it for us. There's a microwave and small frig so I recommend you bring your owner creamer unless you like the powdered stuff. Oh! And drive into Ocean Shores to the grocery store and pick up their famous cinnamon rolls since there's no breakfast! You won't be sorry. Got ours the night before so we could heat up with our coffee in the morning. Don't forget silverware and PLATES. We had to get creative with no plates. The room is large which made the tv appear smaller. But it IS small and the reception is not good. I don't typically watch tv on vacation but I did want to as I was winding down after a long day. Wavy lines and fuzzy voices helped to put me fast asleep. The carpet is woefully worn out and thankfully, I brought my diffuser because the room smelled like urine. I thought it might be from a dog as they allow pets but they only allow them on the first floor which is not where we were. So I have no clue what the offensive smell was from. You can't adjust the heat/ac in the room but there is a standing fan. It had been over 80 during the day so we definitely needed the fan. It worked, but it didn't work properly--I think it's on its last legs. Bathroom is nothing special. As the rest, it could use updating but it was clean and functional. Make sure you visit the Westport Winery. Whole reason we're here for the weekend. They have a "Mermaid Museum", wine tasting, a distillery, fun little gift shop and a restaurant. If you plan to eat at the restaurant, make reservations because they can fill up. The food is fantastic! Be patient, though, as they're experiencing staffing shortages like just about every other eatery. There are some games in an area by the lobby that could entertain you or your kids. There also appears to horseshoes outside and a big grassy area if you brought your own outdoor games. We also saw a stack of wood and firepit in that same area. Assuming that it's for the guests but the receptionist didn't say anything about it. That could be a great marketing thing for them if they provided the s'more stuff and directed you to the fire pit. If you get an upper floor (there are 4 floors), there is a bit of a view of the ocean. Way far away but it's there. Overall, I want to give this hotel a 2.5 because that's about half of a luxurious, updated, 5-star hotel with amazing facilities and service but there is no 2.5. I'm feeling a bit generous today, so a 3 it is! Just be prepared that it's really just an average hotel. Nothing special. Nothing to rave about. read more

Don't let the French name fool you - Chateau Westport is not a fancy place. It's a nice-enough hotel in a small coastal town, with a lovely view and a few unique amenities. It's quickly become a local favourite for us. Both times we've stayed in Westport, we chose the studio room with the Murphy bed (it can fold up into the wall when you're not using it) and the fireplace. Walk into the room and it immediately feels cozy and inviting. It doesn't hurt at all that they leave you a firelog to burn and a neat little package of s'mores supplies on the table. And the view out of the back window is gorgeous. I immediately open the sliding door and step out onto the small deck - the sound of the ocean is already calling, and I can look out over a small park and see it, glimmering in the sun just a short walk away. When it's time for sleep, the Murphy bed is a little creaky but comfortable, and the sound of the surf follows you into your dreams. Of course, the Chateau is not perfect. The walls are on the thin side, so you can hear a bit of what your neighbors are up to (and they can hear you), and the rooms show their wear in small details, like a little peeled paint, or water damage along the bottom of the bathroom door. The continental breakfast is mostly carbs - waffles, muffins, bagels, and the like - though there is usually yogurt and hard-boiled eggs, and they throw in biscuits and gravy on the weekends only (I'm a fan of this, and wish it was every day). The pool and hot tub are nice to have, but nothing special, especially with a ocean just a few minutes' walk away. But mostly, they get it right. The staff are very friendly, the location is nearly perfect, and the extras very much appreciated. There is free wireless internet available, but you'll very likely forget about the wired world after a while. It's easy to spend a few blissful hours in the room, reading and relaxing, and just as easy to walk down to the pedestrian-only beach or drive a few minutes into town for coffee or a bite. It might not be fancy...but with a fireplace, a pretty view, s'mores, and the constant sound of the ocean waves, the Chateau Westport is just right for a relaxing, stress-free getaway. read more

They are way behind on reopening everything- no pool, the front desk is rude and won't bring anything to the room if you ask due to Covid, even when the entire state is reopened. No breakfast, no coffee. Again, the entire state is reopened!! Our daughter got her washable hair dye that washes right out on one towel and they charged us $350 and claimed they threw out several towels and sheets and pillows which is a waste if not a lie. Love this place!!! We have stayed in tons of places in Westport and this is one of the best. We will definitely be back. This place is pet friendly. Came here for our anniversary. We got a King Standard room on the 2nd floor. We had a good view of the ocean in the distance. It had a microwave, small fridge and Keurig coffee machine. Room also had a table with chairs and a deck. We also had strong Wi-Fi signal, watch a movie via Google Play. Connected our computer to the TV with and HDMI cable. The pool was warm and nice. At 9pm to 11pm is adult swim only, which was nice. The juccuzzi / spa was out of order for repair, which was a bummer. They have a typical continental breakfast with cereal, waffles, bagels / muffins / english muffins, oatmeal and yogurt. They have several types of juice and coffee / tea / hot cocoa. I'll admit the walls are thin and you can hear noises from room to room. And kids running down the hall can be heard. But for the price, this place was great. read more

Chateau may be an overly strong word choice for this place, but I had no complaints with my one night stay. Location: probably about 2 miles from the waterfront strip where the restaurants are located. But, if you get a room facing the back of the hotel, you get a great view of the water. You can even watch an amazing sunset from your window. Really nothing to walk to from here. Rooms: nice, comfortable, clean, King sized bed. Small refrigerator and microwave in the room with coffee pot. TV with cable. Small bathroom, but fine. Walls were a bit thin and I heard the family next door to me (cooking in their room??) Amenities: pool open until about 11pm. Supposed to be adults only 9-11, but I am not sure they really kick the kids out. Free wifi which is a nice bonus. Breakfast: complimentary continental breakfast with: small muffins, make your own waffles, yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice. No eggs/bacon/sausage, FYI. Customer service: front desk staff were friendly and able to answer any questions. No complaints. Price was reasonable. You can get a AAA discount if you have card, just be sure to bring the card with you. Parking: plentiful with a large parking lot. I wish you could leave zero stars. Let's start with the fact that when we walked in it smelled like a man who just got off work had put his clothes over the heater (that was on to 70°) to dry. The carpet had stains on them that looked like a dog had pooped and they just smeared in to the floor. You could see where the furniture had been in the past because the carpet was two different shades of green. We would not walk around without socks on. I checked the beds for bed bugs because I got so itchy thinking about how dirty the room was. I then went to go shower and there was a dried up sandy booger that was squashed and left on the shower curtain. I somehow felt dirtier after my shower. If we had gotten into town earlier we would have left immediately. I understand they are remodeling and that this is probably their off season but come on. read more
