After a long day of hiking around with the kiddos at Death Valley, we were looking for dinner slightly more sophisticated than fast food or pizza. A cursory search of Yelp revealed Chatthai Bistro, and we screamed over there at 8:30 to grab some take-out to eat in the hotel room. The hostess was very friendly, and walked us through the menu. Not a soul was in the place in a Monday night, and we felt a little bad to have them fire up the kitchen with a 9:00 PM closing time. They didn't seem bothered, however, and we ordered a few odds and ends-- spring rolls, a curry dish, and Pad Thai. Despite being located in the sleepy little town of Pahrump, the food was pretty good. I suppose we're spoiled in the San Gabriel Valley, with lots of options for awesome Thai food. Chatthai's was a little on the fusioney side of the aisle, but on the plus side, we ordered Level 7 spice and it was plenty spicy. I did not care for the spring rolls, personally-- lettuce and herbs rolled up in rice paper-- where's the meat? I should have read the menu, I guess. If I'm ever in Pahrump again, I'd give this place another shot--maybe sit down inside and try something different. read more

They adjust the spice. I get no spice and am always happy. I didn't take pictures. Huge portions, we birh brought leftovers home. Fresh veggies, cooked to.perfection. delish! It's unusual little Thai restaurant right on the neighboring small town outside Vegas. The foods are quite tasty and very well executed. I'm impressed by the details put into the cooking. What a wonderful Valentine's Day meal. We were sat quickly for a party of 3. Amazing specialty drinks. My choice was the Coconut Rum with the mango purée. My spring rolls were super fresh and tasty. My beef Pad Thai was delicious! Perfect serving and spice. I only wish I had room for the deep fried oreos. If you like Thai food come support this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. The food, service, and drinks were pretty great! We loved that they delivered the spice and everything was freshly made. However, we ordered our pad kee mao and pad gra pao at "medium heat", which was 3 out of 10. The pad kee mao with beef was super spicy (even for my Mexican mom), but the chicken pad gra pao wasn't spicy at all. What a surprise this restaurant was! Small, pleasantly decorated restaurant. The food was amazing. The spring rolls were crisp on the outside and the veggies inside fresh. I had the GOONG OPE WOONSEN (Baked Shrimp & Noodle) it was beautifully served in a traditional Thai clay pot. The glass noodles were My friend had the GOONG PAD PONG GAREE (Stir Fried Shrimp/Curry Powder) and the curry had a great flavor. I was glad she shared! The waitress fairly was friendly and attentive. I stumbled upon this restaurant several years ago when we were out visiting my mother-in-law, and we try to make it back whenever we're in town. We went today for lunch and it was still amazing! Good thai food is somewhat hard to find in a lot of places, but you'd think in a small place like Pahrump, you'd be out of luck -- but look no further! I was really looking forward to some good Thai, especially based off of the reviews. First, I had been hoping to sit down and have a nice lunch. Instead, I was left standing at the entrance waiting to be seated for 10 minutes while the waitress took everyone's order and bustled about. It wasn't busy - there were people at three tables. The cook asked me to come around into the kitchen to place my order without even seeing a menu (I had thought he saw how long it was taking and decided to speed up the process). The next thing I know I'm handed my bill and told to sit at the bar to wait. It was then I insisted on sitting at a table, which I found for myself. They obliged but only after it was cleared up that I actually was NOT a to-go order. So before I had even been seated I had been given my bill without even seeing a menu, without anything to drink. I guess in their confusion, they forgot to make decent food. The noodles were rubbery and there was a funky aftertaste that was just bad. I couldn't even finish the dish.
