Finally made it here. As a lover of Peruvian food I wanted to try this not so chain Peruvian…read morerestaurant out. Located where the former Moes was in the Pineville Matthews shopping center with Bonefish and Panera. The place looked pretty clean although after ordering my food I noticed the sanitation grade was a 91...yikes. Anyways I went ahead and ate there. So let me start by saying the menu is large, so many different items to chose from and not only Peruvian food. I saw some Colombian and Venezuelan items. With that being said I was very shocked at the lack of standard side items. Literally rice and white rice at that, pinto beans and like one other things. All other sides are considered premium sides and those premium sides would be basic sides at like hello chicken or viva chicken. I got the 1/4 chicken, white meat with reg side of white rice and premium side of plantains. For the dipping sauce I was limited to the yellow mild sauce or the spicy hot sauce. They were all out of the green mild sauce. Just for context I arrived at 11:40, they open at 11. Not sure how they ran out so fast but I would have loved to try it because the yellow sauce was just ok and the red was cold and just spicy no real flavor. Thankfully the chicken was flavorful and juicy, the white rice was white rice and the plantains were cooked beautifully. Also the cashier was great and provided excellent service. All in all, I would visit again but no rush to go back again. Viva Chicken still takes the lead for now for me. I would love them to mature their side menu, increase their sanitation grade and have the green sauce available.

My family and I went for dinner and waited around 15 minutes for a table. The holiday-themed drinks were very fun. I had the Silver Bells, my sister had the Santa's hat and my mom had a holiday margarita. Mine was a nice play on a Paloma. Very fun!! My sister said hers was sweet and she wasn't the fondest. The holiday margarita was tart but I liked it. My mom preferred something a little sweeter. For the food: many menu items were Hispanic-Asian inspired. Reading these, I was intrigued in the food taste and presentation. It just fell short because of carrying on the bandwagon of Asian-inspired food, but then also mixing different Asian cuisines. First, I was curious as to how a bao bun was labeled as a Korean bao bun. The bao bun is Chinese. So if the description on the menu had more details, maybe I could've understood the Korean side. Next, a karaage orange chicken. Orange chicken is Chinese cuisine and karaage is Japanese. This chicken wasn't crispy and the flavor left a lot to be desired. The side of sticky rice that came with the chicken was cold and not sticky rice. Just regular white rice. Next: options. There were a lot of food options so I was impressed with that! I ordered tacos and was impressed with two of the three. The birria taco was good, not great. The barbacoa was not spicy as advertised but nicely moist. The shrimp tapajo only had two shrimp and they needed more flavor in them. I got the two taco platter and then an extra taco. I wish there was a three taco option for the platter. There is 2 tacos and 1 side, 5 tacos and 2 sides and then 10 tacos and more sides. If you want American food (nachos or a burger), you're in a good place. If you want to actually understand the inspired flavors of Asian cuisine, I would pass. But this also comes from an Asian person who likes to cook across the different cuisines. The atmosphere was fun, the staff were nice, the basic food was good.
