First time here and I stopped in on a Friday around 3pm and the entire restaurant was empty. The interior was clean and we were immediately greeted and sat down. Our server was very friendly and took our drinks and food order in a timely manner. I ordered the shrimp Cocktail and I personally feel it was bland in flavor. It had a lot of shrimp but the quality of the shrimp wasn't the best and it just seemed to be shrimp in Clamato juice. We also ordered the 3 tacos combo plate. The beans and rice had flavor and seemed to be freshly made. The carnitas tacos were flavorful and had a nice crunch, but the asada was subpar. I also ordered a michelada with draft beer and it was under poured. All in all, it was a decent meal but I likely won't return. read more

Hours on website, yelp, and Apple Maps are all wrong- on Sundays everything says open until 9pm. Got there at 8pm on Sunday night and not a car in the parking lot at 8 pm. Sign out from said they were open until 8pm but I doubt it. Food is great there, just make sure to call ahead maybe to see if they'll be open if they're going to close whenever seems fit. read more

I've been driving by Chavelo's for years and today i decided to stop in for a lite bite and drink. I should have stopped here years ago! Ambiance is inviting, bright with cultural design and traditional Hispanic music. Staff promptly greeted me and directed me to a table. I started with a house Michelada, as I looked over the menu I was brought complimentary chips, salsa and pinto refried beans. All tasted fresh and flavorful. I followed with the cocktail de camarones. (shrimp cocktail) Portion was a good size, flavor was lite. Which was nice since I could then add more citrus or spice as I see fit. This spot is honestly so underrated! The food here is SO good. My absolute favorite dish is the red steak enchiladas with a side of rice and beans (sadly I forgot to take a picture ). The flavor is on point and it's always satisfying. The only dish I wasn't too big on was the posole. It wasn't bad at all, but it didn't taste like traditional Mexican posole -- it leaned more toward a Tex-Mex flavor. Again, not bad, just not what I personally look for when I'm craving authentic posole. I also love that it's not overly popular to the point where you're waiting forever to be seated. It has a nice, relaxed vibe. That said, I really hope they get more clientele because they deserve it -- I'd love to see them expand and grow. Definitely a hidden gem! read more

This is a good Mexican place. Went with my friends on a Saturday afternoon. It is not busy. We had a good time. Unfortunately, it is not Happy Hour. Happy hour is from Monday to Friday from 3pm until 6pm. During Happy Hour, their draft beers are 4$, and classic margarita is $6.95. Some appetizers are $8.95, i.e., mini street tacos quesadillas, mini taquitos dorados, nachos, and tacos. I had a chimichanga a parilla. The meat was tasty and tender. I had mine with the green sauce. My meal came in with beans and rice. I had left over. My other friend enchilada. My other friend also had a chimichanga, but his was shredded meat with the red sauce. It was a long day. I needed chips and beans and a marg STAT! So instead of going to our normal place, we decided to give Chavelos a try, given it's about 10 min closer to our house than our normal place. Rolling up at around 515pm, I was a little worried because it's never a good sign when the parking lot is empty. The place was pretty empty too except for one other couple eating. Now, I won't lie, I know 515 is early bird time but Happy Hour and there were people who came in a few minutes after us and it started to get busy as we were leaving. The place is decorated cute and is fairly clean. The furniture is a little worn but as long as it's clean, I don't judge too hard. The service we got was ok. There was always someone different coming to our table so I don't know if they share duties or if there was some confusion. I try really hard to not be offended when people who sit after us are served first but maybe that was an oversight by the restaurant? Who knows? I will say that everyone was friendly, even if not the most attentive. I ordered a grapefruit fruit margarita but they were out of grapefruit so I switched to strawberry. No big deal but make sure when you order, you specify HH so you don't get charged full price if you are within HH time. It was a bit watered down/lacked flavor and had a sugar rim (disgusting) so I doubt I'd order it again but it was ok. The free chips/beans/salsa was really good. I have ZERO complaints about the food here. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. I wanted to try the Yelp check-in dessert but I was very full at the end of the meal (and it wasn't on the menu so I felt a little apprehensive) but I saved it for next time! read more

The servicing was bad. The food was worse and the drinks are horrible. We ordered margaritas with a certain tequila and of course it was extra money. But on top of that it was all sweet and sour . So we ordered 2 shots of the tequila and they g8ve us the really rock gut shit not the ones that we ordered for we originally ordered for the margaritas. We decided to give this place a try since we are always driving by it, we got there at around 3:30pm and they had just opened at 3pm so, we were the 1st ones there for the evening (this was a Tuesday night) Mon thru Thurs they don't open until 3pm & earlier hours are Fri, Sat and Sun. We were greeted quickly and our server was friendly and personable, we were brought chips and salsa and bean dip (that was not tasty at all) the chips and salsa were fresh and good, we started with a draft beer (Pacifico I think is what my boyfriend had) and I ordered a margarita on the rocks (easy ice) and it was delicious and pretty strong because I was feeling a bit giddy but, I hadn't eaten anything all day, looking at other pictures though with the restaurant I'm a bit disappointed in my glass size since all the others are twice the size of the one I was served??? We ordered the chicken fajitas minus the tomatoes and we also ordered a chimichanga with red sauce and rice and beans and it was A lot of food because I took 1/2 my fajitas home and had them for lunch the next day and I also got a free dessert at the end (it was free from Yelp for checking it) it was fried tortillas with cinnamon and sugar with chocolate sauce drizzled on top and a little whip cream and I thought it was delicious. Eating at Chavelo's again with friends. The service is excellent as usual and the ambiance the same, very Mexican and extremely clean and well decorated. I ordered the Taco salad with shredded beef, steak fajitas, ceviche, carneasada burrito and steak street tacos for the 5 of us. The food was superb as always. My guests really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The prices as very reasonable and within anyone's budget. I'd give this fine restaurant 10 stars if I could.
