My grandmother, uncle and my father have trusted their cars with Chavira Auto repair in Santa Fe Springs. Whenever I am in need of repairs for my Honda, my Dad tells me to call Omar. Omar and his father run Chavira. Omar has helped me before and I can attest that his approach is to be honest. My impression is that he isn't looking to up-sell or to gouge his customers with high prices. He gives you his honest opinion about what is or might be wrong with your car and he will test it to make sure he is correct. He even recommends what type of cars to buy and encourages for you to buy and bring in the parts for your car's repairs all to save you money. Omar and the shop can be busy, so it's best to call a day in advance or to get there very early. While I was there at the shop, I observed that Omar and his staff are busy for a reason--the same reason why my family takes their cars: satisfied returning customers. The customers seem to return because, like my Dad's recommendation, I can tell they trust Omar and his shop's work. On a busy day when Omar had a lot off cars ahead of me, he asked if I could return in the afternoon and I did and he stood a little late to look and fix my car. I have taken several cars to Chavira auto repair for many years. A few weeks ago, I had a new motor rebuild for my 91 geo metro and chavira's crew removed the old motor and replaced it with the new engine from Engine Mart in whittier. I have not seen any problems with the new motor and look forward to taking it on another long distance trip to the east coast. Ramon has done many repair jobs for me in the past and he always does great work. He will only accept high quality work from his crew and he is very picky on vendors for new or rebuilt parts and engines. If you take a tour of Ramon's shop you will find some cars with the heads pulled off getting new head gaskets. I got to witness him doing a set of head gaskets on a late model Cadillac V8 with that "aluminum block and heads." Ramon told me that the factory head bolts are self tapping into the aluminum block! He completed the head gaskets on this Cadillac that the dealer would not touch! Ramon's shop does a lot new engine installs all year long. Ramon's crew can install a new auto cool controller for positive radiator temperature. This will keep you engine at a constant temperature from winter to the hot summer months. Auto Cool controller's use fan RPM to control. Ask Ramon about AUTO COOL when you stop by. These new solid state controllers carry a full year warranty! Ramon's shop is at 10655 Inez street between Florence and Telegraph Road. You can't miss the big white building. His son Steve runs the smog (only) shop across the alley. Referred to Chavira Auto Repair by a coworker as I was in search for a honest, reliable mechanic. Just my luck this gem is close to home. After 2 attempts and money spent trying to get my car shaking/rattling fixed, I figured 3rd time was a charm. I called and spoke with Omar, he explained over the phone in great detail the possibility it may be just by what I had described to him. As a female, it actually made sense and not a foreign language. When I brought in my vehicle on a Saturday (busy day), he was just as helpful and took a look at my car while being present and physically explained how motor mounts work & run. He took my information and was going to get pricing on dealer parts for me. Fortunately my car was drivable and wasn't in a rush so I appreciated his honesty and allowing me to take my car and bringing it back when parts arrived instead of keeping it and leaving me car less for no reason. Long turn around time has become one of my pet peeves with car repairs. I get mechanics are busy and everyones lives are just as important, but keeping my car for 3-4 is a little too long for me... I need to get to work and Uber ride share adds up. Omar called me when he got pricing and quoted me, which I felt was VERY reasonable as I needed 3 motor mounts replaced with labor. I brought the vehicle in at 8am and received a call it was ready for pick up by 1pm, DEFINITELY my kind of service! When I picked up my car the shaking was all gone, FINALLY!
