A few months ago I needed my AC serviced for my work truck a manager by the name of Ricky Rodriguez at 10-4 Auto Repair Center on Philadelphia in Whittier was who assisted me with obtaining a diagnostic on my AC system. I was told to leave my truck for a few hours while this assessment was done. I received a call from Ricky telling me there are no leaks however, it was recommended by his technician to replace three parts which I took his advice and did. After driving my truck for a short time, I noticed my AC was still not working properly, took my truck back to Ricky and was told that he cannot fix the repair because now there was other issues/ damages present and ultimately had to find a different location to take my truck to remedy the problem. Found out that the pressure sensor was installed improperly which caused a massive leak with the accumulator and draining out all the freon that Ricky's technician replaced. And now that the accumulator was leaking due to the improper installation of the AC sensor Ricky now wanted to charge me $1000 to replace the accumulator. this is a shop that takes advantage of people that are not aware of issues that go wrong with their and felt betrayed by this because initially when I went there, I had no leaks, but all of a sudden I have a leak after my AC system and now wants to charge me an additional thousand dollars I find that not only unethical but very questionable type of integrity that they are operating under. In my opinion, this is a scam that falls under the category of the bait and switch and do not recommend this business for any repairs for anybody who does not want to go through the this facility has caused me. On a different note, I would like to advise those out there who are considering going to 10-4 for any repairs to consider Pep Boys because for the exact same problem that Ricky wants to charge me an extra $1000 for I paid $295 to fix and now I'm a very satisfied customer. 1/5 - Unnecessary Repairs, $1,700 Gone, Now Pursuing Legal Action I came to Ten-Four Auto for one issue: a clicking/knocking noise. I told them from the start I believed it was my right front axle. They charged me a $150 diagnostic, told me the axle was "fine," and repeatedly pushed engine and transmission mount repairs instead. After multiple estimates and constant pressure, I finally approved the work and paid $1,678.88, based on their assurance this would fix the problem. It didn't. When I picked up the car, the exact same noise was still there. After refusing delivery and demanding answers, the shop finally admitted the truth: The mounts were NOT the problem. The axle was the issue all along. Exactly what I told them on day one. So let's be clear: I was charged nearly $1,700 for repairs that were unnecessary The shop later admitted their diagnosis was wrong They are now trying to charge me even more money to fix the original issue That's not an honest mistake -- that's a failure of diagnosis and accountability that cost me thousands. At this point, I am pursuing legal action, filing complaints with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair, and escalating through all available consumer and financial channels. BEWARE! Ten-Four operates like big dealership service departments with salesmen selling bogus repairs and lowering quotes or "beating" the other salesmen quotes, if you turn down services. Front office personnel uses sales tactics to add-on unnecessary fees and services. Ten-Four's BAD business practices are: 1. Unreliable and inexperienced technicians 2. FALSE and EXPENSIVE repairs that are inaccurately diagnosed 3. When customer asks to see original parts changed, they cannot produce parts. Update - Date: January 5, 2026 After my last visit, the Ten-Four Auto Repair Center emailed me recommending a spark plug replacement. Because of my previous experience, I did not trust them and decided to inspect the work myself. When I tried to remove the plastic engine cover, I discovered serious damage: one nut was left completely loose, and the remaining nuts were stripped and spinning freely. I could not even remove the cover using basic hand tools. This damage did not exist before my visit and appears to be the result of careless or improper workmanship. Leaving hardware loose and damaged is unacceptable and potentially unsafe. This Ten-Four Auto Repair Center wasted my time, overcharged me, and caused additional damage. Took my truck in for a parasitic battery brain, a smoke test, & tire fix. They had it for over a week and finally found the drain, they just pulled the fuse. Didn't do the smoke test or the tire fix. I took it back for the smoke test and they say they couldn't find anything, but my check engine light is still on for a major emissions leak. They broke a $30 part off my seat and refused to claim responsibility. I am very disappointed with Ten-Four Auto. I think they also raised there labor charges as well. I will not be using them anymore even though they owe me and oil change. The service used to be good, I don't know what happened, but it has diminished. If I could give zero stars, I would. My sister brought her vehicle to Ten Four Auto for a power steering leak. Instead of fixing the actual problem, they upsold her over $2000 worth of work, and returned the vehicle still leaking- actually worse than before. Because my sister had to leave town, I personally dealt with the shop afterward. They kept the vehicle back and forth a total of 4 weeks, during which their clearly incompetent technicians couldn't identify the source of the leak. After all that time, they suddenly claimed they "found" the leak and of course, wanted even more money to fix it. Ricky, the so-called "manager," was fake, dishonest, and straight up lied to my face. He claimed they never touched the reservoir that was leaking - which is impossible, because that part must be transferred when replacing the power steering pump they already installed. This shows their complete lack of knowledge, or intentional dishonesty. The vehicle was NEVER FIXED, and I had to take it to another shop. What we did get was weeks of wasted time, money burned on Ubers going back and forth, and nonstop gaslighting instead of accountability. This shop preys on customers who don't know cars and just try to upsell, deflect, and lie when things go wrong. Educate yourself before taking your vehicle to ANY shop, but most importantly-- AVOID THIS ONE. Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. read more

I had been dealing with an issue on my truck for months and tried diagnosing and fixing it myself, but these newer trucks are just too complicated (and cramped) to keep tearing into at home. I've got a 2022 Ram 1500 3.6L V6 with eTorque--which sounds new, but with 153,000 miles I drive it a lot. I narrowed the problem down to the EGR system and replaced the EGR valve myself, but the issue didn't go away. After more research, I realized the EGR cooler and tube were likely the real problem, and that was more than I wanted to take on. I used the AAA website to find a certified shop and came across Ten Four Auto Repair Center. I stopped by late afternoon, explained everything I had already done, and left the truck with them to diagnose. Ricky was very friendly, easy to talk to, and explained everything clearly. To my surprise, he called me the same day with a diagnosis and a repair quote. What really stood out was that he walked me through some optional items that could be addressed while everything was already apart--and explained why it would save labor in the long run. No pressure at all. Honestly, their diagnosis lined up perfectly with what I was expecting. The "optional" items he mentioned were things I already knew needed attention but had been putting off. He was absolutely right--it made sense to do them now. The work they performed included: Replacing the EGR cooler (common issue on these engines) Cleaning the EGR system and intake ports Walnut shell cleaning to remove heavy carbon buildup Spark plugs (you have to remove the entire intake on these) Valve cover gasket replacement (they were leaking) Transmission fluid service Looking over the work, everything appears top‑notch, and the truck is running noticeably better.
