I honestly don't get why there are poor reviews. I've used Cheaper Peepers for years, but I was almost hesitant to return when I saw such negative feedback. I decided to take my chances and return- and I am glad I did. Carmen was pleasant, helpful, and professional. She treated my elderly mother with kindness and patience. She respected our requests, and provided my mother with exactly what she asked for, at a reasonable price. We returned a week later to pick up the glasses, and was treated the same way. The receptionist was rude. And twice I've gone to pick up my glasses in the morning, and the store wasn't open on time.

I came to this location in need of new lenses to fill my frames. My initial visit it was explained that my prescription was high and I could choose a thinner lens to opt for. I return the next week to pick up the mire expensive option, and was unhappy that the lens was popping out of the frame. The lens was curving out of the frame. I was told I had "OCD" for pointing this out, regardless of taking a photo and pointing out what I saw to be wrong. Now, at my second visit when I was supposed to be taking my new glasses home, It was explained that I could opt for a EVEN thinner frame. I asked them to fix the issue and that I would return a week later, and they offered 10% off with an additional $100 fee. I was willing to be patient because I've worn glasses for 20 years and never did the lens look so out of place. I returned the next week and the lens seemed adjusted but looked just as thick as the last one. At that point I felt like I was being robbed, since initially it was explained there were only two options. Had I been explained initially, as anticipatory guidance of this technicality, I definitely would've felt more trusting of the establishment. I would not return because what was supposed to be cheap became quite expensive and a dishonest transaction with a salesman who didn't wasn't too understanding. Arrived at 10 am for a 10 am appointment. Lights were off and doors locked. Crabby middle-aged woman finally showed up, let herself in and locked the door in my face. Finally let us in at 10:10, no acknowledgement, no response when we wished her a good morning. "Sit down and wait," she said. I told her my wife has a 10am appointment... Her response was priceless "Haven't you ever been to a doctor's office before? You have to wait. The doctor isn't even here yet." Will never come back with customer service like this.... Awful. The quality of their glasses stinks. Just had my daughters glasses fixed a few weeks ago. Girl who worked there was a little condescending to my daughter and they were under warranty. Eye exam - 2 stars. I went on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait for an exam (for glasses). It was the shortest eye exam ever so I hope he did a good job. The doctor was a bit odd and not much of a communicator...I didn't even realize the exam was over and he was walking me out to the counter! Eh, but it's a convenient location. Selection - 3 stars. Not massive but they have nice frames. My husband and I have both had luck here in the past. Service - 4 stars. The woman who helped me was very nice. Unbelievable service!! I stopped in to have a new nose pad put on a pair of glasses I had purchased in another state, not only did they repair the broken nose pad they replaced they other one do the nose pads wouldn't be mismatched. Did I mention I did even purchase my glass here. Oh they did all this for no charge. Now my wife, daughter, and I are do for new glasses, and we usually spend about $1500 for the three of us! I'm far from a spectacle pimp, but I found only a few frames stylish. They advertise and cover their windows in couture brand posters, however only about 25% of their selection are that. Optometrist is excellent and was great to my son. The woman who calls herself the manager was very unprofessional. She made my son very uncomfortable and rushed him when trying on contacts for the first time. Made a big deal about the appointment being made on a Saturday incorrectly when it's so busy ( 1 other customer was there the entire time we spent there) My glasses took 6 weeks to arrive. They told me it was my insurance company but it's their job to follow up with that. Unacceptable. Stepanie is wonderful who works there. It's the female manager that needs to go. While Dr. Weinstein is fantastic this place is NOT cheaper by any stretch of the imagination. I asked if they offer any AARP or AAA discounts like Pearl or other optical places and was told no because they are already discount. I paid over $400.00 for just lenses (used my old frames); I then went to Pearl and purchased another pair; WITH FRAME AND SAME LENSES, it cost me $460.00. It's a shame because as I stated in the beginning Dr. Weinstein is great but then again you can always see him and get your prescription filled somewhere else; that's my plan from now on. read more

I was shopping for new glasses and also needed an eye exam. I had stopped into the vision center I had used in the past to inquire about a special offer I saw online for a Crizal package. I looked at the selection of frames and asked for a quote. The price was a bit too high and the selection thin so I checked to see who else was participating and found Cheaper Peepers and am very happy I gave them a try. I was greeted by the manager Geo, who is a gem. He's kind, patient and very helpful. I selected a couple of frames and he worked up an estimate using the pricing for the Crizal package and without. He was able to put together a similar package that saved me almost $800 for 2 pair. Dr. Weinstein is also great. He's so pleasant to deal with. He's very thorough and took time to explain things that were never covered by past Dr.s He adjusted my RX and took time to look at some older glassed I had with me. I am glad I didn't check the reviews before I stopped in and hope some of the people who wrote negative reviews give this store another look. I completely enjoyed my experience. read more

Hi everyone, i am a senior & had gone to Pearl Vision & was quoted over $900., for my glasses. I went to Cheaper Peepers in NHPK & dealt with Geo & on my first visit Carmen. I found both these people to be extremely friendly & helpful to me & i got my glasses for around $300 CHEAPER, than Pearl vision. I was called in a little less than a week later & my glasses were ready. Geo, made sure they were comfortable & told me if i had any problems to stop back in. I have read some of the reviews & can't comment on what other people experienced, but i would Highly recommend this store to others. Thanks Guys for ur help read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I never feel the need to write reviews but my experience here was that bad. They are terrible at keeping in touch, messed up my lenses and didn't even tell me that it would take a week longer to get them in. Every time I tried to speak to the manager he wouldn't speak with me. I work in customer service and if I ever treated a customer the way I was I wouldn't have a job. This store used to be great when Jan was the manager - she was so helpful and knowledgeable. Since the change in management and staff, it is now a nightmare. The Spanish woman who works there is a horror - she is annoying, rude and nosey - and never ever helpful. Geo, the manager, is nice and tries to appear helpful - but overall, what goes on in this store is suspicious at best. They keep crazy hours - will just close early whenever they feel like it - Geo will just Not be there even when he's scheduled to be there and the Spanish woman acts like his personal protector. If you ever call and ask to speak to Geo, she interrogates you with all kinds of questions wanting to know who you are, why you're calling and what is it that you want to speak to Geo about - which is totally inappropriate. I've also noticed that when in the store, she is even worse - she listens in on all his conversations and won't just Get Out of the Way but deliberately stands right between Geo and his customer and will always interrupt with any silly excuse. She acts strangely suspicious of everyone, and seems to always assume the worst about a customer and treats them accordingly. Sorry, but her overall manner comes across as very petty and simple-minded with a horrible attitude towards everyone! And No - I am not a racist, I've just totally run out of patience with this woman even though I've given her many opportunities and always gave her the benefit of the doubt - but her behavior is so consistently awful and ridiculous - it is impossible to overlook! She is an absolute deterrent and yes, She is The Reason why I stopped going there - plain and simple. read more

Awful place to get glasses. First, they charge about $40 for your eye exam - most places do it for free if you buy eye glasses these days. The incompetent optometrist also forgot to include vital info on my prescription, so I had to get a 2nd exam. Second, this place is anything but cheap. Many of their frames and lenses are marked up 100 percent. If you order online, you can easily save yourself half of what you would have paid here. read more

CLAUDIA....you're a rude woman. I decided to ignore it the first time but two times is too much. I have never called a place that blatantly hangs up on you. Claudia hung up on me as I was speaking, and when I called back and asked for her name she refused to give it. The manager gio is completely dismissive and doesn't seem t care whatsoever about how rude his employee is. She screamed at me for harassing her when I just asked one question. The first time I went to pick up my glasses CARMEN was so rude to me and I ignored it. But Claudia was worse, She has a nasty attitude and is terrible at customer service. The Optometrist is great, knowledgeable and friendly. However, that's the only nice thing I can say about this location. After my initial Optometrist appointment, I ordered a specific brand of contacts and paid for them up-front, waited over 1 week to receive them and never got a call that they came in. I called and was told the contacts were ready for pickup, mind you I never got a call that they had arrived, I had asked my wife to pickup the contacts for me as she was off that day, when I got home, to my surprise they had given my wife the wrong brand (cheaper brand). Called and was told that they will rush order the right brand, after another week of waiting, I picked up the right brand and dropped off the wrong ones. I thought this was just an isolated incident and an honest mistake. So here comes the problem, once my initial 3-month order of contacts started to run out, I called again and ordered another 3 months worth of contacts, again, waited over a week to receive them and again was provided the wrong brand (cheaper brand), at this point, I was super upset and asked that they re-order the right brand, given that I had paid for that brand and specifically states on the invoice provided to me. I was told that Sunday that it will be an overnight rush, call back on Wednesday to check status and they had not even put in the order and weren't aware of the issue, again, I was told they would rush the order and about 1.5 weeks later I received an automated call stating my order was ready for pickup. So not only don't they care enough to look at the orders that they put in against what they are charging their clients but then they don't care enough to make a client happy. To top it all off, their manager CLAUDIA told me over the phone that it was essentially my fault for not noticing they gave me the wrong pair, great I'm glad that you can blame your customer for an oversight that happened twice at the same location. At this point, I'll just be ordering from 1800 contacts, which I was hoping not to given that I'd like to support local businesses but seems that this location wants to provide cheaper sets of contacts to their costumes and hope they don't notice and when they do decide to blame them for not noticing early enough, because obviously, they want their costumers to do their job for them. Will not be going to this location ever again, which is sad as I really enjoyed the Optometrist experience. I came here for a pair of glasses. When I walked in, there were a few customers waiting and a few being helped. I asked if they accepted my insurance and I wanted to see how much my insurance covered of both the prescription and the lenses themselves. I have one insurance and a secondary vision insurance that overlaps. I was told the secondary insurance isn't an insurance and to "forget about that one." One person of the staff did not seem the least bit knowledgeable with insurance or even how to look up my policy. I would never come back here. I went to another eye glass place from here and they told me the overlapping insurance is an insurance and they do cover part of the glasses and script. Since January I have been trying to get a prescription correct and then they broke the frames I bought and had to replace them and the glasses still are not correct. The woman Dawn who works in there is rude, nasty and has absolutely no customer skills at all. They get the script wrong and break the frames and after almost 4 months of trying to get it right, would not refund me. I wasn't looking for a full refund but a refund for the adjustment of the new pair they were going to make for me. Geo who is the manager stood there with nothing to say while his employees basically laughed at me when I was telling them how rude and unprofessional they were. I then picked up my "designer pair" only to find them scratched and with a very thick, chunky lens, very cheap looking for such an expensive frame. I was told by manager Gino that I would have to wait six months for a replacement pair of the same frame!! My wife's glasses monofilament broke and they were able to fix it the same day for a very reasonable fee with no attempt to sell me other products. Geo and other staff were professional and pleasant so I decided to make an appointment for new glasses the following week. No wait for appointment, professional optical exam and should have glasses in a couple of weeks. Reasonable choices for frame selection. Geo again helpful with frame selection and no upsell pressure. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! What a horrible place and service. I went to get my fairly new frames fitted with new lenses. They end up breaking the frame in the process and made me pay for a new one after i already paid lenses only. Instead of replacing it for free, as a smart business would do, they made me pay for new ones. Now they definitley lost a lotal,customer for good. And they didn't even want to price match it, was charged close to double as other retailers. Had I not paid for the lenses to be made, I could've at least went to another retailer. I went to them because I did not want to change my frames in the first place and ended up changing it because they accidentally broke it. They weren't considerate at all and the people are there are horrible. Spare yourself a few dollars and go somewhere else. They aren't even that cheap. Use your money wisely unlike I did! My family and I have been regular customers for 6 years. I always received great service until I took in my glasses in (which I purchased from them to get repaired) in July 12 2016. It is now September 23 2016. I waited patiently for a month, and to no avail the excuses began 2 months after I was told I would need to get a new pair of frames; being that my old pair were discontinued. I was okay with that even though they were charging me an extra 200 dollars! As of today, September 23 2016, I'm still being fed more foolish excuses. I didn't give them a 1 star rating as of yet. I was injured @ work nearly 2 years ago & am still in the midst of recovery. I now wear a back brace & have to use a cane to get around. My Aunt & I made plans the other day for her to come with me to help me pick out frames. She pulled up to let me out close to the front door; since I now have this mobility issue & there were no close parking spots near the entrance. BESIDES the FACT, that it had JUST SNOWED yesterday & the lot had some snow & ice issues!!!! I was in the process unbuckeling my seatbelt, when this FRANTIC, NASTY lady came STORMING out of the building to tell us we couldn't park there!! You had to see how the car was @ an awkward angle & nowhere's near looking like it was being parked!!! I proceeded out of the car slowly & methodically as I have to now; my Aunt passed me my little purse & cane, while she proceeded to PARK the car. I slowly maneuvered up the curb & went inside. I began looking @ & trying on some frames. The NASTY lady (Jan) came out from the back area, where she disappeared to after having her HISSY FIT on me. She NEVER took the time; NOR had the COMMON DECENCY to apologize for her "Bull In A China Shop" action towards me. She tried to ask me what i needed. I turned my back on her & said FRAMES! She's gotta go! My husband has had problems with her in the past. She parks her car in the spot right out front ALL the time!
