Had the July smoked sausage special - incredible! Delicious charred smoked sausage topped with a spicy mayo, cheese whiz, sweet peppers and scallions. So I have ordered from here a few times but it has been well over a year. I heard they added seeded rolls and copper sharp cheese so I was intrigued. I wasted my time. I ordered a small which is half the size of a normal sandwich for the price of a full sandwich. They also had the audacity to charge me .50 cent each for banana peppers and pickles only to replace my meat with it. I have seen this in other establishments. Just because I asked for pickles, peppers and onions doesn't mean I want a veggie sandwich! SO you charged me $1.00 to take the meat out of my sandwich! In addition the seeded rolls was airy and not tasty at all and I don't believe they actually are using copper sharp, besides my onions and pickles I tasted nothing. I grew up in and lived in the Philadelphia area for 60 years now I live near Cheers and I try it every once in a while they've got the right roll and the right meat, but it doesn't taste like a Philadelphia cheese and I can't figure out why? This is a true local fast-casual food restaurant! The menu is all about cheesesteaks and french fries. My wife and I went for the original cheeseteak and the cali cheesesteak. They were both good. One particular detail we noticed is that the steaks are cooked without much salt or spices, so the tatse is simple. I really liked them, but my wife prefers a bit more salt and apices in her food. The service was great and the location is pretty cool. There is no inside seating, so you might not enjoy the experience on a rainy day. It has its own free parking lot with limited spaces as it's shared with two other food businesses (açai bowls place and a pastries bakery). Overall, 100% recommended. read more

Take it from a Philly native...if you can get Jim's or Steve's, you cheat! The crew here has done their homework. They know how to make a darn good cheesesteak! They even get Luicio's rolls from Philly (the bread is what makes it). Don't sleep on their cherry pepper relish either, get it on everything! Update: my husband did give the Italian sub high marks, and he is picky where Italian subs go. But when we went back a few weeks later he returned to the provolone cheesesteak with extra peppers, so I think we both really like the slightly thinner sliced ribeye they switched to after our initial venture. Cheats is the real deal for cheesesteaks and don't sleep on some of the other offerings. One in particular is their Turkey Club. Really good sub served on their very good bread. Never tried the Italian Hoagie but would put money on it being delicious too. Cheats is also a great name cause when you eat one of the cheesesteaks you're definitely taking a diet cheat day. Cheat's has been getting praised since they only had pop ups during Covid. They're so loved they finally got a brick and mortar and I couldn't wait to check them out. They're in the cutest little building in Plaza Midwood next to Rico Açaí. Which is perfect, since I love Rico's and balance is great. I ordered there Cheesesteak with provolone, banana peppers, bell peppers and mushrooms added. It was pretty good. I think I forgot to add a sauce or something because the sandwich itself was dry. But that's my fault. When I got home I added Mayo and that helped a lot. I enjoyed the cheesesteak, my only complaint is that it could use a little more flavor or seasoning. Drove past Cheat's Cheesesteak Parlor yesterday morning so naturally had to have it for dinner. I was able to quickly place an order online and it was ready within 20 minutes. Parking is a little difficult. There are a few marked spots in the shared lot but at 8pm the area is swamped and you can create a few space to the left of the building. The restaurant is basically all to go. They do have a couple picnic tables outside. My only issue was I wanted to just grab my food and go due to my parking situation and when I went to the delivery/ pickup window the workers inside tried to usher me to the crowded window where orders were being taken. Finally someone opened the window and gave me my food that was bagged and ready to go. I got the Cheesesteak. Simple but powerful. This cheesesteak was packed with ribeye steak. It was beautiful! The sandwich was hard to put down. I initially thought it could use more cheez whiz but there was the perfect amount on the sandwich. Excited to try this place. It smelled fantastic when my son and I were headed here before the Charlotte FC Makeup game against the Columbus Crew. He had never had a cheesesteak hoagie so this was his first. Both my son and I engulfed in our meals and when we came up for a breathe the sandwich was a goner!! On my second trip with my wife I opted for the cheesesteak loaded fries and she got the Italian Hoagie. The cheesesteak fries were a tremendous portion size and tasted great. Anything on fries is always a treat of a meal especially for a foodie like me. I tried the new and improved menu items (thinner sliced ribeye, smaller dice of onion, smaller portion of fries, reduced prices) and enjoyed it. Not a fan of the whiz so I subbed sharp provolone and added mushrooms. I made my own mustard blend sauce to put on the cheese steak--without a sauce the sandwich lacked the oomph of flavor I like in a cheese steak. I'm a fan of the Amoroso roll so the type of roll Cheat's uses also changes the experience. The fries are really good. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Overall it's very good. Would have been 5 stars if they got my order right. I ordered a whiz cheesesteak and added provolone, but only the provolone made it onto the sub. Honestly that kinda ruined the sub haha, gotta have that liquid gold. But overall these guys are legit, they're one of the only places making real subs down here. Excellent flavor comes together with each bite of steak, wiz, and grilled onions. -the quality. My sandwich stayed hot which is great because I was not able to eat it until about 20 minutes after receiving it. - complimentary water on hot days (or at least on this hot day). Multiple big and clean dog water bowls for your pup too! Now, for the things that make me think twice. - the price. $14 for an 8" sandwich. Although the quality of the ingredients is up there, it would still make me think twice before coming here on a regular basis. A sandwich, fries, and drink came to $22+ - the parking is horrendous and I would be willing to bet money that within 48 hours of opening there will be a fender bender in that parking lot. It not necessarily at the fault of Cheats, but it would help if there were designated spots as opposed to a free for all in a gravel parking lot. Overall- a good experience! Really excited to try this place, as I love a good cheese steak and know the folks at Crunkleton are involved with this place. This was the first day, so I'll cut a little slack, but the parking needs some definitive work, it's complete chaos, with cars going every direction, and no clear indication of where parking is vs driving paths on the gravel. I ordered a original cheese steak, with fries and a drink to take away, and the total came about $22. The cheese steak is about 8 inches long, and comes on a nice roll, and the fries are well seasoned and quite tasty. The sandwich was quite good, and they definitely make it fresh. The steak and cheese blend perfectly well for that creamy, steak goodness! Maybe it's just the times and the crazy inflation we are experiencing, but at $14, it's a bit on the expensive side, and I almost expected it to be a bit bigger at the price. Two stars for location and effort. I wish I could give them 5 stars, because I was thrilled when I first heard about them. As a vegetarian from Philly, what more could I ask for? Unfortunately though, they use Beyond meat as the only veg protein option and that stuff is just inedible. I tried their cheesesteak 2x just because I thought maybe I could get used to it but it's just DISGUSTING, artificial, melted plastic tasting and I wish that they'd have an alternative. There are SO many better options than beyond meat - from simply using tofu, to tofurkey pepper slices, etc... I've had killer veggie cheesesteaks in Philly and they never use hyper processed Beyond Meat. The other issue is that they don't offer a premium beef option. My partner only eats grassfed (humanely raised and organic is a plus too) beef as do a lot of other people these days. Especially in the area Cheat's services. So it's disappointing that in a state with great quality beef from places like Hickory Nut Gap, they're only serving up unhealthy factory farmed beef. Fries are OK, long waits are standard so go prepared. read more
