This past Friday night I needed to purchase a money order in the amount of $1,000. (let me preface that most places only offer $500. denominations charging fees of say .89 or so or the bank which can charge upward of $6.00) It was just before closing time that I went to the Check City at Durango and Flamingo and let me say first I am not the typical Check Cashing store customer but have seen a few of the places around town and you almost feel like you are ashamed to go in, dingy, dirty, and feeling like you are less than a human being. That said this was my first step into Check City and I felt as if I was walking into a BANK! Clean and bright and the person who welcomed me and handled my transaction, Michelle, was professional, dressed as though she was working in a bank and made me feel that she could handle my needs. I purchased the $1,000 and needed a bit more under a $100. Michelle presented the Western Union Money orders and when I asked what do I owe you? She said NOTHING, ZERO, NO CHARGE!! Wow, Check City really won my business. That is incredible, I am not a customer, I never ever stepped foot into a Check City and to get a FREE (2) money orders was above and beyond. Gina and Crystal are exceptional at their job! I am regular and every time I come in they deliver excellent service and make me feel like a valued customer. Sometimes taking out a loan or paying one off can be a vulnerable experience, so having people like Gina and Crystal who are patient, knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful makes the experience a smooth and easy one. I truly appreciate these two and although there are closer Check City branches near my place, I do not mind commuting a few more miles just to be help by these two. The other staff members are also very friendly, and I am certain that it's due to Gina's and Crystal's leadership skills and them setting the tone at the top! I have been going to this location for quite a long time now. I have never had a issue. They greet me when I come in. They know my name and they are very professional. I would highly recommend them if you are in need of a loan or to cash a check. I get a check every other week and this is the place I go to cash it. Not just the employees.
