I actually bought my vehicle from here and that was an experience in and of itself. I just came to write a review on the theft issue I've read from others...it's true! I had a plastic container that I leave in the door of my car FULL of change. I brought my car in for service and when I picked my car up and the container was gone. I called and told my service advisor the issue and was told someone would call me back...that never happened. I've never taken my car back there due to this incident...mind you this was pre-Covid, so it seems nothing us changed. Lesson learned that even something as small as petty change can't be left in your vehicle at a BMW dealership! SMH hold your people accountable, install cameras on them, pay your people better and MAYBE they will have more integrity and not steal from your customers' vehicles. read more

I have been taking my car here for years. I bought it here over 10 years ago. This will be the last time I bring it here for anything. I have a hairline crack in my windshield top right passenger side, that I developed years ago that had been repaired years ago and has passed state inspections at This location for years. Today this changed, for some reason. The crack has not gotten any bigger or worse , yet today they failed my inspection and causes me a lot of hassle and stress to now get my windshield replaced. Which I was not planning to do. They quoted me 1500$ for a new windshield on a car that's valued at less then 2k (2007 BMW x3). You can get a windshield replaced for between 225-500$ if you shop around. They also changed me for windshield wiper fluid that they didn't fill Becuse I had filled it this morning before I brought it in. When I asked why for years the inspection had passed they could not tell me why or what's changed. Once I get my windshield replaced for much less Then they wanted to rob me for and get this rejection sticker overturned , I will never bring my car back here again or consider buying a car from This place ever again read more

This place is the absolute worst. If I could give zero stars I would! My husband and I have had several poor experiences with them but today takes the cake. An appointment was made weeks ago for a rear tail light assembly replacement. Upon arrival my husband is told they are required to do a diagnostic test for $199 for an issue already known. They then inform him that they don't have the part in stock!! How don't they have a part in stock for a service appointment placed weeks ago!?!?They then proceed to inform my husband that they can order the part, that will not arrive for 2-3 days, and install for an estimated cost of $800! My husband asks if he could just purchase the part in which he was quoted would cost $600. The cost of the part online is only $300. Checkered Flag BMW gouges prices on everything! They attempted to do the same thing previously when trying to get brake pads replaced. They claimed they couldn't get a bolt off and required a special tool which would cost $1100! They will never get a penny from me again and I recommend all those with BMWs requiring service to avoid them at all costs!!! read more

After 3 visits to your award winning "service" department last week, once on Monday, again on Wednesday and the last time on Friday, I can truly say I will think twice about ever referring anyone to Checkered Flag. This is the second car I have purchased from Checkered Flag and after last week, this will be my last. I took my brand new BMW 320I into the service department for a tire indicator light, each time, they said nothing was wrong and reset it the light and sent me on my way. Then on Friday, after being there twice earlier that week, I took it back and demanded them to check and see why it was on again for the 3rd time. This time Wendy told me there was a nail in my tire is why the light was on again. All that was said is the valets didn't catch it the other two times. So after almost 4 hours of wasted time away from my job, why wasn't that caught on my first visit? The fact that the car didn't even have 5k miles on it, and purchased in May, the issue wasn't about the replacement of the tire, but the lack of effort put in by your team members, who clearly could care less. To them I was just a number, and not a customer. My sales experience was superior and I choose BMW because of the quality of the car and Sabrina my client adviser. Sabrina was amazing, and I would do business with her in the future, however, after my first experience in your BMW service department, I will not recommend anyone I know to purchase a car from Checkered Flag. The service Dept works on commission. Beware! It's truly a conflict of interest and to the naive person, it appears that the "future recommended" service is imminent or you might be stranded in the side of the road. Unless you ask if the repairs are necessary at this moment, they won't offer that information. It's all about the dollar. Perhaps BMW needs to pay their workers a fair and reasonable wage and not count on their customers to pay for services not needed. read more

I am updating this review to reflect how they responded to my negative Yelp review. While I am still unhappy with the tires, that is what it is at this point. But how they responded should be commended. The team immediately reached out to me to do their best to right the situation. They did a courtesy check of the vehicle to ensure no damage and then did a complimentary alignment to fix the issue. While the massive tire degradation still amazes me, this is not solely a BMW problem. BMW fixed what they can control and did their best to remedy the situation. The manager called and they promised that they were going to look into and haven't heard from anyone. I understand that we have many choices to choose from but to gain a loyal customer service is something that every business will want. Absolutely my worst experience with BMW. I've had my car serviced at 3 locations spanning 2 states and have always had great service, until now. Had my car towed in for a battery change Sunday night. Revived a call from Mike on Monday morning and explained to him the issue I was having. He told me they would try to look at is today (Monday) but it may be tomorrow (Tuesday). No big deal, so I rented a car. Left 3 voicemails Tuesday before I finally got Mike on the phone (he never returned my call that day). He told me that my car was 3rd in line and it may make it in but it would probably be tomorrow (Wednesday). Waited all day Wednesday to hear from him but didn't, so I called at 330pm. Mike actually returned my voicemail this time and told me that he was still trying to work it in today (Wednesday). I needed some paper work out of my car so I took the rental to Checkered Flag BMW. They obliged to let me get my papers, so I asked for an estimate of when it would be looked at. Mike told me that he didn't know when they would get to it, that they did not have any control over when it would be seen. At this point, with such lousy Customer Service, no call backs and not even knowing what was happening in his own service department, I decided to just get my key and jump my vehicle and take it somewhere else. Mike didn't even offer to help jump it, just said "ok." Had to call a tow truck to jump it with a heavy duty jumper system (I'd be willing to bet they have one in their shop I could have used) to get my car going. I dont suggest using checkered flag BMW, I prefer to have a dealership do my service but not at the cost of such an atrocious service department. I have been coming to this checkered flag location (VB) for about 6 years and they do an Excellent job at servicing your vehicle, providing information on what's urgent, what can wait, and for how long. Although their labor/parts rates can be pricy, I find the guaranteed and warranted work comforting. A great perk they have is providing a loaner vehicle while your vehicle is being serviced with no additional charge. If you do wait while your vehicle is being serviced they provide: periodic updates on how much longer it may take, have plenty of outlets for your technology and fresh fruit, water and snacks. I find this location to be very customer service oriented and they have taken good care of my two BMW's. read more

This is for the Audi vice BMW: Not happy right now, the service attendant told my wife that we needed a major maintenance on our car at 80000 mile interval and it would be a major maintenance period. So before spending some major cash, we did some research, checked the maintenance guidance and there is no 80000 mile period due, the closest is 85000 and it is minor, check the fluids etc etc. The major period is 95000 miles. So 1 of two things happened: 1. The service guy was wrong, 2. He knew and was trying to get a pay day, drum up business. I hope it was not 2. Always suspicious if a woman goes to a dealer and they quote incorrect. It is sexist and frankly unsat, hopefully the dealers will realize that in the long run, it hurts business. Worst customer service ever! Krystal Stern was condescending and rude and after two weeks and over $500 the vehicle was still not repaired. They stole our battery and recycled it when it was supposed to be returned to us and never ran a diagnostic! We had the vehicle towed to a different repair facility and it was FIXED! My family and I came to Checkered Flag BMW yesterday to look at the X5 as we had already test driven the comparable luxury SUVs. Unfortunately, we did not have a good family experience while there. What makes this whole situation unfortunate is that Checkered Flag BMW very likely lost a present sale: unlike other people who may just be looking, we are ready now and have the funds to purchase now. In fairness, another associate that was working with us, Michael, was very friendly but the complete dichotomy between Michael and the other salespeople left me with an unpleasantness that should not have occurred. Compared to the BMW dealership, the Volvo and Audi dealerships are much more child/family friendly. Because of our very pleasant experiences with both those dealerships, I assumed, erroneously, that the floor salespeople at BMW have worked with families before. My child wanted to sit in the drivers seat of one of the display cars. She did this at every dealership we've been to including Audi and Volvo. Never a problem until BMW when a young man proceeds to tell me that this is a $90K car and its not designed for this. You're kidding right? If this car is so flimsy as he suggests then BMW is in bigger trouble than I thought. Worst customer service ever. Scheduled a recall repair for our BMW a few weeks ago. The recall notice said that a replacement vehicle would be available, so when we scheduled the appointment we told them we would need one. They said, "No problem, we will have one for you." We live an hour away, and figured we would do some Christmas shopping around Hilltop since I was taking a day off work. Fast forward to this morning when they tell us they don't have a loaner for us, and we can sit around for the day until it's done, or the courtesy shuttle can drop us off somewhere. When I told them they had assured us we could have a loaner they said if we wanted one we needed to get there earlier. They never said that when THEY gave us the time for the appointment. Ah what a difference two years makes. After a really a really lousy experience two years ago with this dealer I ended up going to another BMW location for service, even though it was inconvenient it was worth the detour. Anyway about a week ago a friend refered me to Jason Stamer, Assistant Service Manager at Checkered flag. He said, "work with Jason and all will be good". I was hesitant since my last experience was ridiculously terrible, but I can honestly say Jason and the service tech took all my past concerns with this dealer away in the first five minutes. They took time to explain what would be done to my beloved car and were patient with my questions. I'm very particular (some might say OCD) and their expertise in all areas was a very welcome surprise. Once they were done my car was absolutely perfect and I left with a smile and completely changed opinion. My sincere recommendation to Checkered flag leadership is to clone Jason and the service tech as quickly as possible. If you guys can get all your customer facing staff to be as efficient, positive and helpful as these two then you will need to build twice as many service bays. No longer will I need to trek 75+ miles out of my way to have warranty service work done on my car. read more

Came in told them what was wrong with my car they told me it was something else what another dealer told me plus the on the dashboard showed the symbol of the problem wouldn't cause the problem I paid 730 get the car back and still have the problem take it back next day and they say it's what I came in and said the problem was and charge me $68. After they fixed it the symbol went away So I paid $730 for nothing and no one call or email back when I emailed for manager. I will never go to this location again. They really got over me. Fake Customer Service. I get the greetings from everyone, but when it comes to the actual service aspect, they lack. I took my car in yesterday for a 10:50 AM appointment. By 6:00 PM, still had not received a call with an update. I got a ride to the dealership, only to be told that I needed a tire replaced. I was told I would not be getting my car back until the next day. I had to call for a ride, cancel the rest of my evening plans and needed to catch a taxi to work in the morning. This is the worst dealership I've ever been to. As stated by other reviewers, the service department is so pompous and act as though we should be glad to give they are servicing me. They had my car for almost a week with no one giving me an update because the service advisor was out of town. They told me that they couldn't replicate the problem (which it had since I initially bought the car)...when you would try to accelerate from the stopped position, the car would hesitate to accelerate. I took it there 3 times, before I finally went to Newport News BMW. As soon as I described the issue, they knew exactly what the problem was. The mechanic let me drive and he said, "How could they possibly say, they couldn't replicate the issue?" It needed a computer update!!! Since the manufacture warranty had expired while I was wasting my time with Checked Flag BMW, I had to pay over $200 for the update!! tFinally, I need a bulb replaced, and they wanted to charge me over $120 to replace it!! My neighbor replaced it in less than 2 mins (opened 2 stability clamps, removed the cover, and pulled out the old bulb. Stuck on the new one and replaced cover). I was livid!!! I already payed almost twice the amount for the bulb and they wanted to charge $120 for less than a 5 min job that didn't even take tools. Oh, I entered the parts department, and no one even acknowledged me (3 people in there), except the guy I talked to right before I got there (he was on the phone when I entered). Never again!!!
