The food we ordered was excellent except the broccoli was rancid on all 3 orders. We mentioned it to our waitress, MeMe, who might I add was absolutely amazing, who got the manager, Mario. He spoke to us and didn't really seem too concerned about it. He said he would check on it but no one else had complained. He did not seem concerned that 3 customers had eaten rancid broccoli and didn't offer to compensate with a different side. Somewhat disappointed in how he treated us. read more

My wife and I currently live in San Antonio but were to be in Abilene to attend our son's wake and funeral. My wife called on Monday, 13 Feb, and made reservations for a party of 15-20 family members for Thursday, 16 Feb. Leading up to Thursday, my wife called and verified with the restaurant twice before the reserved day and was told that everything was good to go. Thursday evening arrives, and everyone is a little emotional after the wake. We go to restaurant only to be told by the night manager that Cheddars no longer takes reservations, and that we don't have a reservation. Can you imagine how the family felt after just viewing our son, and not being able to just sit down with family without further stress high emotion. While most of the family members are continuing to sit in the waiting area awaiting an explanation, patrons' so-called reservations are coming in, stating their name, and being seated. Meanwhile the night manager who initially states that he can split us up in smaller groups and seat us that way, has gone back to the back never to come back up to the front desk again as we continue to wait. In the meantime, other patrons are being seated in areas that the manager mentions as possible seating areas for the family. During that time, I see a paper with a few reservations listed on it including the one with my wife's name on the front desk. I call it to the attention of the young person at the desk and he says to me..."There it is" with a surprised look on his face. I ask again to speak to the manager. He goes to find him looking somewhere in the back. The young staff member comes back to the front desk and says that the manager is in the back helping the kitchen staff. In the meantime, my wife contacts Logan's Roadhouse in Abilene and they welcome us with open arms. Thanks to the Cheddars night manager they lose out on $700.00 dollars. read more

Ok, I know Cheddars. I have eaten at numerous locations, many, many times over the years. And the Abilene location is doing well. Here's my thing. I always sit in the bar. But, tonight the female bartender is great, personable, not fake, friendly. The male never smiled, never looked as though he connected with a customer and looks as though he just gets through his job, ..barely. Listen up, act like you are invested in your job, not like it's some kind of torture. If you connect with your customer, we'll connect with you and we'll buy more. read more

Not worth the wait time. I get it, something new in Abilene everyone has to check it out but for the wait time of close to an hour both times we have been and the food was sub par ill not bother waiting again. We had to send our meal back it was cold and waited another 30 minutes for it to show up again for it to be burnt. read more

Friday night 6:45 we placed a party of 20 on the waiting list and were told about :45 minutes. At 8:00 ish we were seated. Only one waiter for a party of 20 (10 Adults and 10 older kids. At 8:15 we placed our drink order and around 8:35 he started taking our food orders. Several of our people that were drinking alcoholic drinks went to the bar to order a drink. While waiting on their drink order to be made they saw no sign of anyone's drinks being made that were ordered at the table. At 9:00 waiter has not been back to check on us. At 9:05 we finally received our alcohol drinks and the waiter had no clue who ordered what and got drinks mixed upon who ordered what! At 9:15 people finally received their salad. Food started being served at 9:20 and the last plate was served at 9:45 oh no wait, the waiter missed one order so they decided to just cancel that order. Who knows how long it would have taken to have remade. No refills for the adult drinks all night, I did see the kids getting refills one time from a couple different waiters. We finally had to ask for the ticket at 9:55!!! Most of the tickets were written up wrong and we ordered by family to help on the confusion. Signed our tickets at 10:05 and walked out at 10:15. Waiter did what he could do, the management is absolutely horrible to let this happen. The manager walked by our table several times but never spoke to us or even look at us when he got close by. We finally stopped and asked Mario Garcia the manager on duty to help us with the kids order that was overlooked. read more

Ate here for the first time and it blew me away. The food was amazing and the price shocked me it was so cheap. I got the half rack of ribs plate and expected it to be a small portion but again it was shocking how much food I got for what I paid! We enjoyed our first visit to the Abilene cheddars restaurant. Our waiter Zachary R was an excellent waiter. Prime example of "good customer service". My husband never once had to ask for a refill on tea. Keep up the good work we will definitely come back in the near future. read more

Restaurant was almost empty and they said they couldn't seat us because they were understaffed. We were ready to wait in line or go to another place. Then the host said we couldn't wait inside because of Covid. The state of Texas is fully open. Get it together cheddars. ( The staff was not even wearing masks.) read more

Eh, Cheddar's really did not meet the hype. Besides the fact that the wait time is ridiculous, the service was not any better. Our waiter did a pretty bad job during service. He was nice, but the amount of time it took for him to get the drink order was roughly the same time we waited to be seated. The food arrived after about 20 minutes and it was pretty cold. After that, the only time we saw our waiter again was for one drink refill and to pay the check. Which again, took him 10 minutes to run a card and return with the receipt. The only positive aspect was the design of the restaurant, which is beautiful. Other than that, you're better off going to a different place to eat. read more

Waited over 20 min to be seated at 8pm. Server was not friendly we ordered crescent as app and after waiting 45 min for them we asked the server and she went to check on them. Mind you she did not check on our table after taking our order. Food came out and then about 5 min later cold crescents came to the table. We had to ask for our salads that came on our meal to be brought out since we did not get them with our food and for refills. Some of the food was cold and undercooked. The manager was very friendly when we brought the issues to her attention she replaced the undercooked food with fresh food that unfortunately was not cooked either. 4th visit - won't be back. I have been working in Abilene full time for about 3 months (I live in San Antonio). I have eaten at Cheddar's 3 times in the six weeks I have been here. I love their salmon. However, this visit (on Sunday at 4pm) they weren't busy but made me wait at the hostess stand while they figured out where to seat me. I am not kidding, they argued about who to stick me with. I felt awful!! Then they put me next to two tables with small (screaming children) - REALLY? I ordered a meal and it took 40 minutes to get my food (while listening to the screaming kids). The food was good but I unloaded on the waitress (nothing was her fault). So upsetting to be made to feel abnormal because I am eating alone and then waiting so loooooong for food. That is it - I will spend my money somewhere else. UGH! read more

The pasta I was served vs. what 1) is pictured 2) what is served at other cheddars location are completely different. They were out of penne pasta and instead of just letting me know that they served me something that looked like goulash. Only our second time here because the first was so bad. This time the coleslaw, broccoli casserole and croissants were good. The ribs were very dry, hard and tasteless, the loaded mashed potatoes were cold, the burger was hard and pretty much burned, the limp, dark piece of horrible romaine and the very soft tomato were sickening and it's annoying to have to put the dressing on the burger yourself without messing the whole thing up. But by taking out the lettuce and tomato, there wasn't much left to mess up anyway. The fries were few, limp and just barely warm. The lemonade was bitter. The worst ever. For this almost total crap, we paid, with tip, $40.00. We will NOT BE BACK, EVER. read more

Went for lunch today and ordered salmon caesar salad. They brought salmon pecan salad. Sent it back and brought salmon caesar salad. Stuck my fork in it and got pasta. Who puts pasta in salmon caesar salad? Cheddar's obviously! So i asked for a plain salmon caesar salad. Third time was correct and received after the person I read with finished get meal. Manager asked how everything was? I commented ok after the third try. I got a bill for their mess up. Paid my bill and said I wouldn't be back. He followed me and with an elevated voice he didn't want me leave dissatisfied. Should of thought about that before I received a bill. Another chain has arrived in Abilene. As usual, it was impossible to get in for about a month. I have now visited twice. Once on a Sunday evening with a 25 minute wait and once on a Friday at straight up 5pm with a 30 minute wait. All that to say, expect to wait whenever you go. The first meal I had was the buffalo chicken tenders wrap. I asked the server to leave off the buffalo sauce but that didn't happen. The wrap was large but the fries were cold. The floor needed to be swept and some napkins picked up. I chalked it up to being slammed and everyone not being trained very well. My second visit went better. The server was efficient and friendly. This time we just ordered appetizers and drinks. The onion rings were quite tasty and came out hot. The chips and queso were very unimpressive. Tasted like Velveeta and Rotel. Skip that one. Cheese bites were okay but nothing special. Next time I'll try the spinach dip. The picture on the menu looked appetizing. As with most chains, food is a bit overpriced. Decor was dark wood and fake plants. It seemed odd that with so many people waiting that there were empty tables. Perhaps they were short on servers? They did have more fish dishes on the menu than other chains in town which was refreshing. read more

I'm convinced they do not serve your food HOT! First I ordered Spinish dip and onion rings she tells me they ran out of onion rings but the dip was on the way. It came out COLD cheese wasn't even melted. So we send it back for her to bring back another at the same temperature! We also ordered the drinks as soon as we got to the table... they didn't come out until 45 mins later! I didn't want mine anymore. Then ordered chicken fried chicken and when the food FINALLY came, it was chicken fried steak!!!! So that had to go back!!! And when she brought it back out the only thing warm was the chicken fried Chicken. My potatoes and broccoli cheese casserole was not! Oh and they didn't bring my bread either. Over all they sucked! And when the manager came out, instead of him apologizing, his response "let me know if I can do anything" UMMMMMMM how about take Ownership for this HORRIBLE SERVICE and FOOD! Plan to wait 45 minutes to an hour after you order for your food only to be served with cold fries. We tried to order cheese fries for an appetizer and waitress came back and said they were out of them! Yet they have fries (although they were served cold with the Monte Cristo I ordered that took almost an hour to serve.) Not once did a manager come by after we complained to the waitress to even see how the food was. A couple sitting next to us said they had to wait over an hour for their food and it was only 2 of them. This was on a Tuesday afternoon about 3:00pm so...Not during peak lunch or dinner time and there were empty tables all around. I know this is a new restaurant but Corporate needs to retrain this location or get a new management staff that can get this place in shape. We had some family visit this location a week after this visit and same issues. A party of 3 Had to wait almost an hour for food at 1:30pm and they were out of Croissants. read more

After giving cheddars a second chance.. both times the food was cold. The first time we had cheddars we ate inside the restaurant. we happened to be completely understanding about the wait, but our food should not have been as cold as it was. The second time we had take out. The food was cold (we live just around the corner), they did not tell us they ran out of some of the items we ordered, and they forgot some of the things in the order. The ribeye steak was cold and tough. Also the kids burger was bloody the baked potato was hard and undercooked. No gravy for the chicken fried steak they ran out of mashed potatoes which let's face it, if you are from the south you love yourself a bite of chicken fry (with gravy) a little corn and a little mashed potato on your fork. Just a bummer we had to find out they didn't have any and then get stuck with a half ass cooked baked potato. The Texas toast was so stale and tough it was annoying to even try to eat it. They also informed us they ran out of Croissants (when we arrived to pick up the order). Also told us it would take 35-40 min to have the food ready, no problem! Got there 40 min later had to wait another 45 min for the food to come out.... cold.... interesting. This cheddars has a long way to go, before I could say I will give them a 3rd chance. I'm sorry, but I do not want to spend 70-100 dollars on cold, undercooked and items missing. I value my dollar a bit more than that. Get it together and maybe I'll be back. Not sure.. I usually don't sweat the small stuff and be completely understand. Ok, you ran out of mashed potatoes, fine no more croissants, whatever you gave me an undercooked baked potato, a bit annoying your Texas toast was Oklahoma toast at best..... but no gravy.... Their chicken fried chicken is amazing. I got the half because once I ordered the full plate and let me tell you it almost looked like I had two whole chickens on my plate lol. They most definitely do not disappoint on flavor and the fact that it was still juicy and not dry was a huge plus for me. read more

This is the third Cheddar's location that I've been to, so expectations were high, and I'm less than impressed. I ordered a RARE 6 oz Sirloin steak with a "loaded" baked potato and seasoned broccoli. The presentation of my meal was unsatisfying. My loaded baked potato consisted of a spoonful of sour cream and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese. What is loaded about that? My steak was awful. I have never wasted a steak dinner until today. It was full of fatty chunks and the meat was so tough that I was only able to actually chew and swallow a few bites before giving up and excreting my last attempt at a bite into my napkin. The only thing pleasant about my plate was the broccoli. If I ever go back, I think I'll just order a plate of broccoli. read more

This is not a well run cheddars like the one on San Angelo and whicita falls. We have gone to cheddars over a dozen times, 3 times to abilene location. never again will we eat at abilene location again. Each time, food cold, not fresh. terrible service and continues to get worse. Bathrooms had no water to automatic sink faucets. Abilene cheddars wait staffed with rookies. you could tell our food sat under heat lamp for some time. We talked to manager, they seemed clueless and gave us a lame excuse for slow service and said the reason water did not work in bathroom was faucet sensor were sensitive. read more

The service was amazing, if I based a review solely on service they would get 5 stars. However paying for the food they serve is where I'm at. While the prices are reasonable, the food is horrible. It tastes like freezer meals they warm up to serve. I just expect more from a 'scratch' kitchen. The cheese fries seemed microwaved. The steak was super chewy. My boyfriends order was wrong. Went here for lunch with 2 friends and service was slow. Friends food came out cold. Although stone staff was friendly the overall experience was terrible considering it was our first time here.
