Would not give it any stars. We waited ten minutes to be seated and could see five empty tables while we waited for another to be vacated. When they first opened, service was great, but it's all went down hill. I always order the bourbon glazed salmon. One day it will be delicious and the next day it's been drowned in salt. We have came in multiple times to be sat in the room to the right and everytime we are forgotten. On three occasions we have been sat there, had to walk to the host stand and ask for drinks, and then after fifteen more minutes of not seeing a waiter come to or table, we leave. On our way out we are never asked if there is a problem Eben though there will be multiple servers standing there with the hostess that we asked to get us drinks. Very disappointing that the food is always unpredictable and that we know if we go there we will have to fight to be waited on. read more

We ordered take out via phone. I was place on hold for 3 minutes and then the man that took my order was not friendly and didn't repeat anything back. When i asked if i could have my burgers well done his answer was "i'll tell them". They said the wait was around half an hour....for burgers kid you not. My husband showed up half an hour later and he paid for the food. They had not even started making the food until he paid for it. We stopped Sunday 2/26/17. We try to eat here when we are in the area because the service and food has always been good. We were a party of four and we were seated at a card size table. We asked the girl who seated us if we could have a booth, she said no. We said we would wait, she then said no she couldn't do that either. The food was OK, not great. Very average service. Zero pre-bussing so we finished dinner with the appetizer plates still on the table. 2 of our 4 person party ordered ribs. The server informed us that they were out of ribs after returning from the kitchen. How do you run out of ribs? No manager visit. My family ordered a dessert and they didn't even comp that. The restaurant itself looks great! Staff was friendly overall. The wait for our food was longer than expected. The food itself is sub-par when compared to other Cheddar's I've been to. It seems the chefs in the back are still inexperienced. Several items ordered were wrong and the steak was terrible - barely any seasoning and overcooked. Appetizer and chicken tenders were great though. My recommendation is to stay away from the steak if you try this restaurant out. read more

I went to Cheddar's last night for a quick bite and to relax because I live close by and I have been there before and generally liked it. Last night was a nightmare. I was by myself so I sat at the bar and managed to get the last seat available which was lucky. The guy next to me was friendly and we had a nice chat about football while we were waiting,and waiting and waiting. There were 2 bartenders who never looked up to make eye contact with anyone at the bar. They were furiously cleaning glasses or something underneath the bar but they certainly weren't paying attention to the customers. When the bartender finally took my order of a Philly cheesesteak and a beer some time had already gone by. I had eaten there twice before and I knew the Philly was good. The guy next to me got his chicken and he thought it was pretty good and the girls sitting next to him got their meal as well even though they came in after me. Still no Philly. I finally got the bartender's attention and she promised the sandwich would be right out. When it came out it turned out she had hit the wrong button and ordered me the wrong meal. By this time everyone else had finished and paid and left and still no Philly. I went to the manager, Jason, and he looked into the problem and about 10 min. later I got my meal. I would say about an hour had gone by while all this took place and not a word of apology either from the manager or the bartender . Now the food was delicious. The Philly cheesesteak is juicy and meaty. And it is very inexpensive and certainly worth the price. I thought for sure the manager would offer to comp my meal or offer a dessert or something for the mixup but not a word was said. I would have refused the comp but it definitely should have been offered. I spoke to the manager after I paid my bill and his attitude was extremely poor. I recommend the food highly but the service is non existent and spoiled the excellent food. if you get different servers you might fare better than I did but even the guy next to me said he had been there 6 or 7 times and service was extremely bad on about 3 of those times. read more

Went there with a group of 9. No line for waiting. Empty tables in middle section. We requested to sit together, but were told no seating was available except booths back to back or across from each other. After being seated, a large party came and were seated in a table in the back that was empty when we got there. We called before coming and were told no reservations. We guess a party the manager knew got the table. When questioned, we received a "fluff" answer from the manager. We left and walked next door to the Olive Garden, where we were instantly seated together and received fabulous service. read more

Our family has been regular customers to the Cheddar's here in Beckley WV. Over the last several months, we have commented how overall service appeared to be spiraling downward. Up until today, the quality of the food and the amount of it surpassed the sliding customer service by the wait staff. Today, we went and arrived and were seated at 1:13 PM by our waitress who was either having a bad day or was brand new to her role of a waitress. It took almost 15 minutes for one of our party to get his Dr. Pepper and our straws (notice the 15 minute wait for a straw!) When our food finally came out today both my daughter and I had ordered Chicken Tender Platter and both noticed that it smelled of burnt oil. My wife had a Monte Crisco sandwich which also smelled of burnt oil. I ate 1 of my chicken tenders and am taking the rest home to pull off the breading and see if the chicken is edible. During the 1 hour stay at the restaurant we were not approached by any member of management to see how things were nor were we asked by our waitress. Additionally a pet peeve of mine is watching the table staff cleans up a table and use the same rag wiping down the table tops and then wiping down the benches we sit on. I was a GM in the restaurant business years ago and always had my staff have one cleaning rag in one hand for table tops and the other for benches. My wife left the comments with the hostess with our name and number, really wondering if they even care enough to call us. If the service quality doesn't improve, we will spend our money elsewhere. read more

I went with my sister who lives in Beckley and was really impressed at first. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Since I have been back everytime there are two hostesses who are nasty and rude. They practically role their eyes when you ask for a table, walk you to your table, throw the menu down and walk off. Three times. The food has been ok, I guess they are still working out their kinks. For Beckley, still not a bad choice. read more

I've been to Cheddar's a handful of times. The first few experiences were okay and the food is good. However, I will never step foot in this restaurant again following an incident on September 1, 2015. My boyfriend and I were seated at a booth around 8:15 PM. Our appetizers were promptly delivered and our main dishes followed shortly after. We had a pleasant dining experience and received the bill and a takeout box around 9:00 PM. I sent my MasterCard with the waiter (who was excellent) and waited for it to be brought back to our table. After approximately 10 minutes he came back to the table and asked us if we could pay our bill with cash because they were having technical issues. I informed him that I didn't have cash and we began to wait. We were still waiting after 10:00 PM. I could not leave without my credit card and they were aware that we needed to leave. Finally, around 10:15 an employee approached me with my MasterCard and a complimentary card for Chips & Homemade Queso. She apologized for the wait. Even after forcing us to wait over an hour after finishing our meals, they would not negotiate the bill. How Cheddar's treated me and my boyfriend was disrespectful, unprofessional and ultimately wrong. Any respectable restaurant would have had consideration to cancel the charges at the very least after putting its guests through such a horrible, inconvenient experience. read more

My husband and I visited Cheddar's when we traveled to Beckley to visit my aunt. The three of us arrived at the restaurant accompanied by my diabetic alert dog, a highly trained, well-groomed black Labrador retriever who was wearing a vest indicating that she was a service dog. The manager confronted me, asking for her certification papers. I told him that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) states that service dogs require no certification. He was adamant that such papers were necessary; he claimed that the WV health inspector demanded evidence of certification. That's a crock. The ADA, as every health inspector knows, preempts state laws that present obstacles to compliance with the federal law. I've occasionally encountered ignorance of the ADA provisions, but never before have I been confronted by ignorance so fiercely defended; the man managed to be both hostile and condescending. I know the law, and I defended my right to access--at that point it was a matter of principle. My service dog is medical equipment, just as a wheelchair is. He finally relented, but his ignorance and hostility put a damper on the evening. It's hard to decide whether I hated my experience at Cheddar's or merely disliked it, but I'll be generous and give it 2 stars because the broccoli wasn't overcooked and our server was very good. I'll make it a point to revisit Cheddar's the next time we visit my aunt--and my dog will be with me. read more

Was sight seeing in West Virginia and overheard a gentleman ask the clerk about Cheddar's. So when my family was trying to decide where to eat I mentioned it and found that is was not to far away so we went there to eat. We loved everything we got to eat. The two youngest ordered from the kid's menu cheese burger and grilled cheese, both came with fries. Thirteen year old ordered chicken strips from adult menu also got fries. I got the breaded catfish with fries and slaw and the other two adults got combo meals one steak and shrimp the other ribs and shrimp, they both ordered corn. For our appetizers we got cheese curds for the kids, spinach dip, and twice baked potatoes. No one had room for dessert. We had a fantastic waitress. She made recommendations on the food and we was pleased with every aspect of the restaurant. i even took pictures of the huge fan and the fish tank. Outside the flower arrangements were gorgeous and the water fall/fire pit added such a good touch. Hope I make my way to another Cheddar's restaurant to be able to take my son that did not go with us on the trip. read more
