This place is...interesting, in a good way. When I was told I was going out of town for a work…read moreevent in West Virginia and this was the name of the place. I had no idea exactly what this place was. My colleague kept referring to it as just a Moose. And a lot of use know that means something else, more in lines with a bar. The person that invited us out to here for the event didn't give us much information about what we should expect. But I am happy I came here, because of how unique of a place this is. Most people would assume that this may be a place for ice cream and you'd be partially right. This place is a mix of things that you would not expect. First and foremost, it is a well used coffee shop. Even though there is a well known national competitor right up the road. There is a steady stream of vehicles in and out throughout the day. Inside, in the coffee portion of the space, it gives definite coffee shop vibes. Couches, armchairs, tables, books, magazines, etc. That coziness could be a big draw on a cold day. I had myself a chai tea latte from here and it was delicious. They are quick with their ordering process and making of the drink. What else is here you ask? Well, let me tell you. There is an ice cream parlor tucked away on the opposite side of the coffee shop. You can enter this through the coffee shop or from the outside entrance on the side of the building. This area, then leads you to another location on the lot. Putt-Putt. Behind the building, there is a miniature golf course built into the hillside. One that is West Virginian history themed. Another thing this place has is an indoor climbing wall. I didn't get a chance to check that out.

I used to travel and stop here often and it was amazing. The craft area of handcrafted merchandise has become not as sophisticated and high end workmanship. I noticed that change the last time I stopped through so that was disappointing. I used to often browse for gifts but that time nothing much to see. But on to my main thing -- the food. I'm actually heartbroken that now it's not in any way what it was. I learned that a few years back The Greenbrier Hotel stopped operating the dining room. And it shows -- they have remodeled and added tables. You no longer go through the cafeteria w the chance to see the grill and the food. And the food is pretty low to average score. The fried green tomatoes used to be pan cook w cornmeal and now battered and deep fried -- terrible the vegetable plate used to be amazing but barely edible. The cornbread used to be a large tender square delish but now a couple of tasteless muffins. My plate was served quickly and the food was barely warm. My friend's meal was very average, the salmon. The other was the soup and a side vegetable. Again average. I'm not sure why they lost The Greenbrier but it's not worth the cost. Still a nice place to walk around and stretch your legs but the food isn't worth the price and the crafts not at a high level. So a very disappointing meal. So you've been forewarned. All good things must come to an end.

Cons There isn't one in Lafayette, IN (home of Purdue) where I live, as this place would do an incredible business!

There is no better place for always fresh never frozen donuts. It's disheartening to realize that some only know Dunkin'. Listen, I'm not hating, there's a place for the quick hit fix of dunkin. There is a platonic nature to Dunkin's work, it's what you get for those who you consider an acquaintance. If you want to express a deep care and dare I say nostalgic sense of belonging in a world wrecked with loneliness then you go for the connection. It is in the name, man. I'm just saying there is more to the donut experience than Dunkin is capable of offering in our area. It's as Lewis said, " like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased." The pure euphoria of these donuts, the deliberate love of the team, the nonchalant 90's decor that reminds you of a home lost but never resigned from your heart. It's an enrapturing moment to embrace these little spaces in our days to retrieve some sort of confectionary respite from a world in dire straights. You need a retreat from the wreck of the world? This place is a bit of a delightful plot twist. From the outside, you might expect the usual--but step inside and suddenly you're in a cozy little universe where the cocktails are dangerously good (and somehow still kind to your wallet), the bar feels like home base, and the food? Way more scratch-made magic than you'd ever guess. And let's talk about Amy. If hospitality were an Olympic sport, she'd have a gold medal and a signature cocktail named after her. Attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it--just pure, effortless excellence. Whether you're a road warrior passing through or a local in need of a reliable good time, Cheddars delivers that rare combo: great vibe, great food, zero regrets. Go hungry. Leave happy.
