This was our first time dining at a Chedders. The exterior looked very pleasant and welcoming. It claims to be a scratch grille which we were honestly not even sure what that was. We walk inside and it's not bad. A little Cracker Barrel-ish. Seated right away by a hostess with a warm smile. The menu was not too shabby. Nice Selection of American food. Good prices too. But after 15 minutes with no waitress we were eager to order. Finally she arrives. We order our food. When we inquired what type of cheese was in the Wisconsin cheese bites we were given a sarcastic reply "Wisconsin Chedder" as if to imply there was no option but Wisconsin cheddar. She leaves. Tens minutes then the Wisconsin bites come out. No drinks yet. Okay. We dig in. The bites were mozzarella. I guess there were other cheeses after all... Eat those over 15 minutes. Still no drinks. Quite thirsty at this point. Had to flag down the waitress with considerable effort. She grabs our drinks and gives us some song and dance about the kitchen messing up. Hmmm. Our food shows up. Missing our side salad.. And more importantly our silverware. Some more flagging required to recover those items. So now the food, chicken pot pie was good. Steak was very well cooked. Tasty. Chicken fingers were horrid. Mac and cheese was decent. Green beans not what I expected. So food was pretty good overall. Clearly the kitchen is not blame here. Towards the end of our meal our waitress manages to pop by, possibly to redeem herself from her previous follies and offers us refills on our low drinks. Then disappears. Never to return. One can only hope she was fired mid shift due to lack of competence. Paid our bill and will most likely not be returning to Chedders. "Scratch" that off the list. read more

We visited Cheddars when they first opened. We were very unhappy with both the food and service. We did not go back for a while but decided to give them another try. We couldn't believe this was the same place. The food and service was outstanding. I had the Key West Chicken & Shrimp and my wife had the Sweet Heat Chicken & Shrimp which happened to be an under 575 calorie dish. The flavors were rich, the portions were just right, the ambience was great (we were surprised how nice it was considering the price points of their meals) and the service was outstanding. The servers all seemed pleasant and happy to be there. We will definitely be visiting Cheddar's on a regular basis. read more

I went to cheddars for dinner for the first time with my kids and the food took a bit long but I will say the service was exemplary My servers name was Brandon and he really saved the evening if it wasn't for him I would have one left or two never wanted to go back ... the food was grate when it did finally get to the table.. the prices even better .. a manger came and spoke on behalf of the kitchen and even took the appetizer's off the bill considering the fact we did spend a unusually long time there I really just have to say Brandon you did a grate job and I will be back not just for the food but for the awesome time we spent with you even with you juggling other tables. Went there for lunch this past Sun and was very presently surprised. The atmosphere was nice the service was great. Food is very good but beware they are extremely busy during peak times (Fri and Sat night) and the wait can get as long as an hr. Food is good everything is made from scratch. Burger was outstanding reminded me of the old fuddruckers burgers. Portion was plenty for the price and quality was outstanding. Overall great place to eat and bring family too. read more

We had family in town and went to have a nice lunch together before we parted ways. The first person put our names in for a table for 8. The host said they would hold a table for us because the rest of the party was just a couple minutes behind. They then gave that table to other people. Then the rest of the party walked in and they told us they gave away our table. We waited 15 minutes then asked how long they thought and the host manager was very rude and said she couldn't tell us a time frame or even a guess. She was very rude and finally after asking for a guess she said maybe another 20 minutes but she had no idea. We ended up going right over to Texas Roadhouse which had a great host team welcome us very warmly. I won't go back to cheddars because their hosts were rude to myself and my family. I have worked in many restaurants and have hosted myself and just found it very rude the way she spoke to us and told us she would hold a table and then 5 minutes later gave it to another group that just walked in. read more

Their food is consistently good. I particularly liked their spaghetti lasagna. Nice change from the typical lasagna.

I sent my info to Cheddars as they asked, however I have yet to hear anything back from them. Since writing my first review I did revisit Cheddars. I ordered the honey butter croissants. My daughter ordered fries and my son had a chocolate cake with ice cream . We were nervous about ordering an entire meal. My croissants were ok. My son cake was huge, he was thinking it would be warm and moist however it was extremely cold as if it had just been defrosted ( I've never).......... Well. Good restaurant for a family or a date. I've eaten here several times. Similar to an Applebees or TGI Friday's, this is a better than average chain restaurant with nice atmosphere and attentive wait staff. Food was good and the portions are generous. Reasonable prices. The outside and inside was spot on. Definitely a nice setup but that was it, just the appearance was good. The management needs to get involved with some more training and food preparation. The staff seemed as if they were customers hanging out and just having a good ole time. Not a good experience when the employees are talking about their tips and how little or much they make. Now to the food. Well, not that good either. It seemed like frozen commercial food with a little seasoning. And on top of that, the beer selection was very limited. First visit. Atmosphere is very nice and the wait staff provided good service...even offered a beverage to go. Food was ok. My husband enjoyed his chicken fingers which were piping hot and his fries. We both got dinner salads which were fresh but would have liked more veggies. I had shrimp which were small and could have been cleaned better. Baked potato was not warm enough to melt the butter or the cheese sprinkled on top. Food quality probably matched the price. read more

I'm sure this place is fine if what you're into is a low level, basic Americana chain restaurant. Our server didn't seem to know anything about the food when I asked questions, and apparently neither did the kitchen. I personally am tired of seeing stuff like this in Dover. I'd much rather see more small, local restaurants with decent menus, instead of a menu where everything is deep friend and/or slathered with cheese and mayo. I ordered the fish tacos and barely ate any of them because they were gross. If you have any kind of culinary standards, don't eat here. read more

My spose and I eat here once a week. We have never had a bad meal, a slow server or none at all. Yes, we have waited once in awhile, but that's ok. We're not there for filet mignon and a charcouterie; we are there for wonderful salads (I have yet to finish the delicious grilled chicken and pecan one!)or the terrific blackened catfish on seasoned rice or the bourbon glazed salmon to the soup and half sandwich combo. You get the idea; it's a chain, but it's one that serves wonderful, everyday, delicious food at a very good price. We have certainly made friendly aquaintenance w some of the staff, but I can't imagine this well trained bunch plopping down next to one of us. I'd bet whoever it was is there no longer as that behavior IS rude and we've never experienced any rude staff at all. So, if you're close enough, give them a try and hopefully, it will become as much of a favorite as it is to us! read more

Everything was delicious. I had the sirloin steak. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The grande top shelf margarita was excellent. My husband had the New Orleans pasta and he said it was great, though a little spicy. The salads are huge. The red beans and rice are awesome. read more

Everything is fresh and it's REAL food. The Monte Cristo is a favorite. The honey butter croissants are delicious and you can tell they're fresh baked in house. Even the kids' entrees are made from good quality fresh ingredients. My family of 4 can eat here for under $40. Talk about a great deal. read more

Everything is not scratch. It comes from Shamrock Food Company Frozen in Bags including bags of frozen chicken pre marinated.

pitiful. l knew to get there early and for lunch not dinner. Got there before it opened with the other 4 groups who knew how to avoid the wait also. We were seated right away and ordered soup and salad, nachos, and pasta. 5 minutes we got our drinks all water. 20 minutes later still nothing. We tell the waitress hey other people are eating why not us? She said the kitchen is slow. There were only 7 tables filled in the whole restaurant! 10 minutes later we ask for a manager and tell her it has been 35 minutes and we still have nothing. she says she will go check. Five minutes later still no return from manager we get up and tell the hostess we are leaving. In comes the waitress 45 minutes after we were seated with a tray of food. My husband told her we don't even want it any more. never again! Do not waste your time even if the parking lot is empty. read more

I have eaten here twice. Both times the wait for a table was over 30 minutes and the service was terrible. The food seems to have a lot of added salt. The last time I was there we waited almost an hour for our dinner and when it finally arrived my wife's dinner was cold. To top it off, I got food poisoning. I will never go there again. read more
