The food here was decent. Very good onion rings. The problem is very poor service. Staff hangs out in a corner while there are customers waiting for service. Dirty tables left for an hour because staff is chatting. It seems to be more of a social hangout for the employees, with a little work in between. I have been to this restaurant three times. Last night was the worst. It was late 10:00.Staff looked like they had a long day. We were able to change tables due to blasting cold air. Our salad came after the main course. the steak had a huge amount of grizzle. My ribs were tender but the glaze was so sweet that it was cooked to the soft ball stage and stuck to your teeth. I wish I could review with. I stars. I love cheddar's. it's literally one of my favorite places to go. So while I was ok vacation I thought it would be a light tasty option as we wanted to shop. Boy, was I wrong!!! First we go in and we have to wait while tables are being cleaned. Excuse they didn't expect a rush. That's irritating but not a big issue. We then get sat and wait 5 minutes to be treated followed by another 5 minutes to get our drinks to the table. At this point we order. 3 sandwiches a wrap and a kids meal. 25 minutes later our server comes back, and we assume this is to tell us our food is on its way. She then starts to say the flat top went down and two our our meals cannot be cooked. We quickly choose something else, confused but move in. The two people who had to change the order then tell the server to please bring our all the food that is done and not make us all wait. She agrees then goes back to the kitchen. 30-35 minutes later she comes out to see if we are okay. We still have no food. Again we say please bring out whatever food is done she leaves. (Keep in mind, this entire time we have been waiting almost an hour now we've had slow refills but she is refilling. And. Not taking the empty glasses leaving us a table FULL of cups.) finally after 55 minutes of waiting for food, we asked for a manager who then tells us "there was 5 minutes between when she took the order and added in, that's why you had to wait." We then explain it should be an hour to do this simple food and she said verbatim "I can't go back, only forward, so I can take something off the bill if you want me too." Cheddars was an amazing experience until the last time my mom and I went in there for a special night out for dinner we usually enjoy cheddars food. I know people who work there who are very friendly and I enjoy the atmosphere. But the night that we went there this previous time it was awful we had a horrible experience with our waitress. she didn't know what she was doing. She couldn't keep track of anyone's food. she was waiting on five tables and she didn't know how to multitask. It took 20 minutes for me to get a refill of water. another waiter who brought out another tables food they had brought it to the wrong table. And the able across from us who were supposed to get their salads first got their meals before their salads and they were not very happy. And to top it all off to make her the worst waitress we have ever had at any restaurant. It was the most horrible experience ever that we wanted to walk out after this happened while holding the drinks in her hand for 2 tables she spilled a glass of wine all down the front of my mom. She was soaked on her whole left side the waitress started laughing and asked if she was OK and started joking about it. My mom was pretty pissed. As the waitress was more concerned about wiping off the chairs instead of my mom. And did not even bother to go get more napkins. As we sat there in dis belief and the floor still wet. My mom embarrassed the couple next to us said that had been the second drink she had spilled that night since they had been there. The three tables were appalled about what she had done and said "WOW what an experience tonight" they all checked to see if my mom was okay because they were all fed up with her. The manager never came over to check to see what happened. Two of her employees had to apologize for her. We don't think she had even told the managers what had happened. Everyone around us had known what a disaster that dinner was for us we really wanted to get up and just leave. We were hungry that night and patiently sat there as it took forever to get our food. We were patient and calm but it will be a while before we ever go back there again very disappointing. On 01/08/2017, during the 4 o'clock hour, our table of 5 ordered mostly Fish, Red or Black Beans and Rice with Steamed Broccoli. All of our Beans and Rice sides were loaded down with Salt, the Broccoli was undercooked and cold on 2 of the 5 entrees. Whoever the cook was at that time messed up their recipes on how to cook or season their food. When we ordered the Apple Crisp dessert, they were out of it again. A few months back, we ordered the Apple Crisp and they were out of it then too. How can they be out of an item that is ordered so regularly from this location? Management took our Onion Ring appetizer and replacement dessert off of our bill. If I could give Cheddar's 0 stars, I would do it for this visit because everyone had complaints and it was a wasted afternoon spending our money on bad food. Stopped in after the Daytona 500 to wait for traffic to let up. Waited about 45 mins for a table (quoted 35 min wait) not bad for being very busy. Once seated, our server came over after about 5 mins of waiting and immediately started complaining about how busy there were and also made some negative comments about coworkers. We had drinks from the bar and she started questioning us if we paid for them or not. We ordered and waited a long time for our food (understandable based on how busy they were). A food runner basically threw our food down in front of us and took off. My wife ordered a steak and it arrived over cooked and cold. We asked for a recook and the servers attitude turned from barely friendly to down right rude! She took the steak to be recooked and dropped the check right after and said "when the steak comes back, this is how much you will owe." I found this insulting because as soon as we requested a re-fire she couldn't wait to get rid of us. The final straw was when I went to the bathroom and witnessed an employee leave the bathroom stall and walk right out without washing his hands...gross! I will never step foot in a Cheddars (or any other Darden Restaurant) again. Also over heard bartenders bashing NASCAR fans. If you're thinking of trying Cheddars in Daytona Beach save yourself the aggravation and just don't. Have been to 2 other Cheddars locations before and the service was SLOW at best. The first time took 2 hours to get meal. Food was average but arrived in piecemeal so it was difficult to enjoy. My husband has had some good experiences lately at Cheddars in Orlando so I thought we'd give Cheddars Daytona a try. The races were over and the restaurant was not new anymore so they've had enough time to work out the kinks. We took both our parents and had a party of 6. We arrived at 5 and we're told wait would be about 1/2 hour. The host and hostess were giggling at the podium the whole time we were waiting. After 30 minutes I checked with them and was told we were next up. At least 4 other parties were called instead. I checked again at 45 minutes and was assured we were next. Again at least 4 other parties were seated first. At an hour I checked again and they said we seated you- I said no and showed them my pager. They must have written down the wrong pager number on the waiting list. They said we'll clear a table right away and get you seated. Then over the next 10 minutes they proceeded to seat 4 more other parties instead. I handed in the pager and told them we would not visit another Cheddars again and the host cat called after me "thank you!" If you make a mistake own it and make good on it. We went to Cracker Barrel where we were seated right away and we're treated to a tasty home cooked meal served with dignity and respect. We are frequent diners out and enjoy a variety of restaurants from casual to fine dining. Anyone can cook a meal but what makes a restaurant special and long lasting is the service and manners of its employees. There have been many restaurants that have come and gone on speedway blvd. The ones that stay are the ones that have learned that. For me it's too late for Cheddars to make a good impression. Three strikes they're out. read more

The key to keeping and creating loyal customers is exceptional customer service !!!!! However, Cheddars Scratch Kitchen in Daytona Beach fails to meet the expectations of a potential loyal customer. I've been to Cheddars on three different occasions, all in which I received bad service. During my first visit we waited for approximately 43 minutes for our COLD spinach dip, I told the server that our spinach dip was cold and I wanted it to be warmed. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO TEST THE TEMPERATURE OF OUR SPINACH DIP BY PLACING HIS INDEX FINGER IN THE CENTER OF OUR SPINACH DIP. He said, "oh it's not that cold". I couldn't believe that a sever would do such a thing, especially since we only wanted it WARMED ! I told him that now we did not want that spinach dip because he placed his finger in the center of it. He apologized and took it back, 3 minutes later he comes back with the SAME DISH pipping hot ! By this time I was furious, I said "sir this is the same dish you put your finger in, the imprint is still in the middle of it". He goes "Sorry ma'am I'll go get you a fresh one". It only gets worse, I ask to speak with the manager to explain our situation and the manager goes, " ma'am none of my employees would ever do that", until our server admitted that I was in fact telling the truth ! To make matters worse, when we received our dinner COLD, I did not complain because despite the COLD dinner that took almost 2 hours to prepare the ribs were to die for. However, after this horrible experience I still gave the place another try hoping for a different outcome ! WHY DID I DO THAT !!!! Three more visits turned out to be more bad experiences. Third times the charm, so they say, but not in Cheddar's. Went there for my son's high school graduation dinner, husbands food wasn't edible. They offered us dessert ( which we thought was on the house) it wasn't , they comped his meal. So we went there for lunch today, and they have officially hit rock bottom. I ordered iced tea, it was not good, horrid is more like it. Then we got our utensils and they had dried food still on the forks!. It took 10 minutes just to get new utensils. Then they brought our meals we ordered salmon with bourbon sauce. We asked ahead of time if the bourbon sauce was spicy the waitress assured us it was not. We took 1 bite and the bourbon sauce was so spicey it burned our throats!. We told the waitress and she barely apologized, offered to get the manager, we said never mind . We offered to pay for our drinks, she said not to worry . We won't worry cause we will NEVER go back! read more

ABSOLUTE SHIT EXPERIENCE! Ok my wife and I tried Cheddars a few days after the initial opening, a very disappointing dining experience, our order was taken in a reasonable time, BUT it took 45 minutes to receive our meal, chalked it up to hey they just opened. So we decided to give it another try a little over a year later, thinking they should have their shit together by then. Well the young lady who took our order found it more important to tell us her life story how she just moved down here, she's broke and has to walk to work rather then taking our order. So she finally takes our order and the table next to us order, 30 minutes go by no drinks and no waitress we ask to speak with a manager. So 20 minutes later the manager comes over and we explain what's gone on and the table next to us also expressed the wait time and lack of service. The manager assures us he will get this sorted out, 20 minutes later our food and the table next to us food comes out delivered by some other server. I take a bite of the slab of ribs I specifically ordered dry which are dripping of sauce and they aren't even Luke warm, my wife takes a bite or her food and the same room temperature. We ask the couple next to us if their food is hot and they advised they are cold. So I go and get the manager well past waiting for him at this point, and bring him back to the table and we all show him our food is cold. I guess it's a generational thing but he flippantly says "what more do you want we brought you your order", your welcome to go elsewhere if your not happy. So I stood up dumped mine and my wife's plate on the table and we walked out, the couple next to us did the same.
